  1. as far as i know, an HK soldier is preaching to interested peer sodiers. i believe that if we use the word HK (meaning Hare Krishnas, meaning the western disciples of prabhupada) and avoid using the word iskcon, then it will help. no need to worry about what the iraqis or muslims will think about it. they know (per koran) that also HKs are kafirs, to be killed or converted to islam.
  2. assuming you are a hindu and not a hindu imposter, you accept the authority of the Vedas. Here is one of many verses from the Vedas. This one is from Atharva veda. ----------- vishhUcyetu kR^intatI pinAkamiva bibhrati. vishhvak punarbhuvA manosamR^idhA aghAyavaH..## Av. 1.27.2 ## Let the army carrying large bows, move in all the directions cutting down the enemy and raising the morale of the people all around. -Av. 1.27.2 ============================ You talked about "all the paths to god". These all paths mentioned in the vedic literature are all the vedic paths. It does not include the anti-vedic paths such as Islam and Xianity. please do not forget it, and remind it to others who may have forgotten it.
  3. - whatever Hinduism practice a hindus does correctly, is for the benefit for himself and the society. he does not need to tell it to the others, but must know the value of it himself. << If he do not tell others, explaining to others about the values he is practising, then how will others know the true values of Hindusm? >> what i meant is: -- he does not need to tell it to the others IF OTHERS HAVE NO INTEREST OR AR HOSTILE TO THE SUBJECT, but must know the value of it himself. ONE'S PRACTICE OF DHARMA SHOULD NOT BE BASED ON WHAT OTHRES THINK ABOUT IT, BUT WHAT ONE BELIEVES IS GOOD FOR ONE'S SELF SPIRITUALLY. -- we happily tell about hinduism to friendly interested people.
  4. there are a few thoughts about this: - caste word is generally used by the anti-vedic people for the malpracticed varna system of the hinduism. now, when a hindu correctly practices varna system, then it will benefit him and the society. he does not need to give a name of what he is practices. suppose he says to people that he is a brahmana, and the people around him think that he is a malpracticener of hinduism when in reality he is not, then he does not need to tell it, but he must know for himself the value of correct practice of varna system. such is the rationale when prabhupad said that he is not a hindu and he is not preaching hinduism. similarly ramakrishna mission also said once in ndia that they are not hindus and not preching hinduism. both however know that they will practice hinduism correctly as it is. - whatever Hinduism practice a hindus does correctly, is for the benefit for himself and the society. he does not need to tell it to the others, but must know the value of it himself. - every society have some social and other groups/divisions and formal or informal heirarchy. names may be different, but the varna names are generic and for spiritual purpose of the vedic society.

    a dream

could it be an indication of the earth quake tht happend nnear kashmir? yes, if you get such filling and a quake happnes soon. in reality, we may never know what the dream means. however, ramananda swami, the guru of sahajananda had take diksha from ramanujacharya in dream. many times the buried deities/moortis have come in dream of some one and have been excavated and placed in temples. so, dreams are not totally uselss. it depends how pure the mind is.

    help!

1B all over the world, mostly in India.
  7. things like happen in this kali yuga. such things break the barriers between enemies. all of a sudden both fighting parites realise they are just human beings. and they help each other. unfortunately such friendliness - love for human being - stays for a short time only. the predator religions (islam and xianity) and ideologies take undue advantage of such disasters and spread their religons or ideologies.

    mamsa

mamsa (or maa.nsa) is a sanskrit word. it means meat, flesh.
  9. out of your home, state, and country, and community, if you want your culture to survive and hope for world peace. Below is a quote from the book The Clash of Civilizations by Samuel Huntington, a mid 1990s publication. p. 269: "..(Izetbegovic) is a devout Muslim, was imprisoned for his Islamic activism by the communist government, and in a book, The Islamic Declaration, published in 1970, argues for "the incompatibility of Islam with non-Islamic systems. There can be neither peace nor coexistence between the Islamic religion and non-Islamic social and political institutions." When Islamic movement is strong enough it must take power and create an Islamic republic. In this new state, it is particularly important that education and the media "should be in the hands of people whose Islamic moral and intellectual authority is indisputable." ================================================ Jinnah in 1947 said the same thing that Islam is not compatible with Hinduism, and he led to the division if India, and Pakistan was created. The strategy of Islam expasion described above has been seen in practice in history of several counries. The vedic people should know this, and persue countermeasures pro-actively to keep the vedic dharma and the vedic culture alive and unchallanged in Bharat.
  10. << why Godly fashions don't move with the times in how we percieve them. Would it be blasphemy to paint a picture of Sarasvati wearing nice white pants, a white shirt with yellow trim, and a white jacket? Everything else the same, but modern clothes? >> who sets up the standard as to what clothes god shoudl wear, some muslims khan actors and actresses? not haveign a standard, different people can start dressign god in many different ways. now, that will make it difficult for a viewer to figure who god that is. therefore changing dress of deities per our whims does not help. our vedic scripures cleary describe how god is dressed. so the vedic people wisely follow that standard, and all who who that god is by the dress it wears. other poit is that if one dresses his god in any way he likes, but with love, then god will accept it happily in his personal altar/temple at home. if any anti-hindu dresses up hondu god in any whimsical way, then the motive is different, and the hindus or god will not tolerate it. in the past a muslim artist in india painted a picture of saraswati devi in nude. the devi or the hindus cannot forgive him. he being a muslim is forbidden to paint god / allah or any living being, and he did never dare to do it because he could get kileld by a muslim. so he chose to paint a hindu devi in nude, and misused the tolerance of the hindus. another point is that today one asks to change the dress of god, and soon others will ask to change the characters, moods, qualites, and pastimes of god. some even will start writing new scriptures fo the hindus wanting to trasht the original. thus, this opens a highway gate for the anti-vedic people to totally mess up and destroy hinduism and the hindus. bottom line: stick with the scriptures as krishna advises in gita.
  11. krishna in gita says: avyaktam vyaktimaam manyante maam abuddhaya.. so, he/god has form, but he also says that one can worship him as formless god, but that is a difficult way and take long time, he says. so, if you like it, go ahead and do that sadhana, but do not enforce it on othres who follow worship of god with a form.
  12. << --hinduism is a name for many and sometimes opposite practices and philosophies. So everything cannot be sanatana dharma, so hinduism is sometimes sanatana dharma sometimes not. Sanatana dharma is not hinduism >> i have said it many times here and will say it again being a hindu myself, and not like many HKs who hate their mother culture and the soruce culture from which they learned krishna bhakti: Although Hindu was a name given by the Muslims to the Vedic people and their religion who lived east of River Sindhu, some 1000 years ago, we hindus have accept that new name only because it is now well known all over the world. so, Hinduims is just a new name of sanatana dharma, and it is defined in gita. no one should define what it is by the malpractice of it in the pat and present if any. there are many hindus who have given up the malpractice and many more will give up and follow hinduism as it is in gita. i am writing this for the benefit of many readers, not the "guest" whose post i am responding to.

    caste

malpracticd varnasrama is sinful caste system. now it is going away. we need to practice varnasrama corrctly. if you are in bharat perticularly, and see the malpractice, do whatever you can to stop with love.
  14. a brahma feels peace when he has freedom to study scriptures, practice, dharma, and preach it un hindered to interested. a kshariya feels peace when there is no oen doing adharma in the society, or when he subdues or kills adharmis, and sees that the vedic soceity functions properly. a vaishya feels peace when he can work like a farmer, or cow protector, or trading freely without hindarance. he cannot function if there is terrorism. a shudra feels peace when he is paid fairly for his labor ans service, and knows that his master cares for him, ad treats him with due human dignity. a vedic society is compared to a person whose brain is the brahmanas, the arms the kshatriyas, the belly for digestion the vaihyas, and legs, shudras, for moving around. a person feels happy when all these four parts function well. although no one part can feel happy without proper function of any other part, still the order of importance is: brahmana (brain, intelligence) kshatriya (protection, keeping law and order) vaishna (prodction and trade) shudra (labor, service to other three parts.) no one part of the vedic body should fight or misuse the other part of the body. in emergency like situation any varna can pick up the duty of another varna if it can do it reasonably nicely. this helps the survival of the person as well as the society.
  15. Here are a few lines from Michael Dibdin's Novel - Dead Lagoon: "There can be no true friends without true enemies. Unless we hate what we are not, we cannot love what we are. These are the old truths we re particularly rediscovering after a century and more of sentimental cant. Those who deny these deny their family, their heritage, their culture, their birthright, their very selves! They will not lightly be forgiven." if a sthita pragna cannot solve the conflicts of others, in a way that the suras get the justice and fair deal against asuras, then he is only selfish for his own realization for god, and for going to god's abode. he then has no gratitide for the culture in which he grew tht helped him to realize god. so, as long as one is not really advanced to a stage of sthitapragna, one should not pretend as if he is. just think if all the people of a country pretend to be sthita pragna, then any enemy can walk in teh country and can make them slave, taking away all the things they have. bottom line: a rare sthita pragna person is glorified by hindus only, but a whole sthita pragna society or nation cannot bring happiness to its people. (unless they choose to fight adharma and adharmis.)
  16. hinduism does not give importance for money. one who lives by hinduism correctly, can become a rich man, or can choose to live like a poor materially. behind your inocent question i smell that you are an anti-hindu and want to make a point that hinduism is not good becaue there are many poors in india. the brits and americans became rich by ruling over others and making others slaves. hinduism discourages to produce and hoard money like this. besides how many rich people have real peace? in contrat, you will find many poor in india who are in peace within. hindusm says that money should be made by moral and ethical way only, ans should be used for god. india will be poor so long as it does not practice hinduism correctly and fully.

  18. hindusm is dharma, not a religion like others with a set of beliefs that you accept or reject. it tells about the spiritual truths. it does not matter whether you belive it or not, the truths do not change (like gravity is there whether you believe it or not). this dharma is for the all the people of all the time and places, but because it is kept and followed and understood best by the people of india (the Vedic people), it is mistakenly thougt as it is India's. But any non-hindu most likely cannnot undersstand it correctly unless a hindu spiritual master explains it to them. it is with us since the time of cretion. it is not manmade. hindus do not have interest in any manmade religion. it give a lot of freedom of thought and action. one gets happiness or suffers due to wht he does. if actions are done in accordance with the spiritual laws, one moves closer to god, else stays where he is or moves away from god. hindus can think of god and his/her abode in a variety of ways, each way is valid and proven true. hope it helps. if you hate hinduism, then do not talk about it to any one. we have no interest, then to tell about it either. a hindu has no interest to convert any one. a he/she will not appreciate any attempt by other to ceonvert him/her.
  19. all the trash, any dirty or broken things, old earthern plate on which indian tortias are cooked, old pans with dints and blak due to carbon from smoke stuck over months, etc. are thrown out. room floors and some thigns are washed/cleaned. people fast or eat light foods that are easy to digest. prayers and chantings are done individually, not in groups. no socal auspicius activity is begun on that day. temples however continue doing their aartis as usual.

  21. in the vedic literature it is not considered an auspicius event. so, the litrature prescribes acts to clean the environment in the house, within the body, mind, intelligence, and do austerity, sadhana, japa, etc.
  22. << Broken ideals no longer carry Prana Shakthi of the particular deity. >> cannot agree. which scripture or saint or acchary sayd so please? once ramakrishna paramahamsa was asked a similar quetion. he replied something like this: "if your father or mother looses his arm or leg, will you dump him or her?" A Book - poweer in temples - by srikant describes a real ceremony in which when an ancient broken vishnu statue was found, it's prana was transferred by a process to a new moorty, and more prana was added by certain vidhi. so, this means that a broken moorti does not loose prana, at least if it is not broken really badly.

  24. this is like asking: is belief in the existance of the sun reasonable? those who doubt krishna's word in gita are far from the vedic way.
