There're so many good points - take the hippies, the hippies of the sixties, they introduced such as organically grown food, vegetarianism, clean water, sense of family and much more like flowers what can be dovetailed with bhakti, but what the homosexuals except selfishness actually did something going?

I would be thankful if there was something, but cannot find anything.

You make it like homosexuality is some cultural sub-group. It's a sexual preference. I know this may come as a shock, but homosexuals aren't bound by a single moral rule. They all live different lives and have different lifestyles. They're not all the same. Some of them are even hippies! :eek2:

There are many kind and compassionate homosexuals. Unfortuantely, you can't see that.

    Unfortunately, no. :(

Although so many people have some idea of Lord Nityananda, not many people know who Jahnava devi is. It is very sad. :(

I wonder why She's not as well known? :(

I consider Jahnava Mata to be my own mother and Lord Nityananda to be my father.

    How lovely :)

Well, don't you consider Buddha as Krishna's avatar

You can roll your eyes at me all you want, but, in this area, you roll your eyes at the Bhagavata Purana as well:

"Then, in the beginning of Kali-yuga, the Lord will appear as Lord Buddha, the son of Anjana, in the province of Gaya, just for the purpose of deluding those who are envious of the faithful theist."

    --Srimad Bhagavata Purana 1.3.24

as for the 'Spritual Discussions' forum don't you know how the advertising agencies choose the right slots ? I've applied the same principle. :P

I think the 'World Review' forum would've been better, but I digress.

In that article 'Buddhism & Vegetarianism', that monk is claiming the same, he has presented what he believes are words attributed to Buddha in Buddhist scriptures, now I really don't know & can't tell who's correct here, you or him ????

He quotes the same verse from the Pali Canon that you quoted. I quoted a verse for the MahaParinirvana Sutra that has the Buddha explaining why He said that (to gradually wean people off of meat).

    wish he were around.

Me too... but for a different reason.

but when someone says "I do not claim that every word in these scriptures is exactly the word of the Buddha" he obviously sounds more rational and dispassionate than you.

So I guess I can claim the same of you if you think that the Gita is the exact word of Sri Krishna? And if you defend yourself then you're irrational and stuck in the mode of Rajas?

yes the gov. was receiving a lot of bad publicity over the panchen lama issue and now that the dalai lama is getting up there in age. the chinese gov. passed laws forbidding reincarnation unless you have government approval. there was an article about it on msnbc but it seems to be gone now. the law made reincarnation illegal lol. they did it probably to delegitimate the dalai lama's reincarnation.

lol someone better tell God that China made it illegal:smash:

    JAI SHREE KRISHNA!!!

What are they going to do? Execute those who they suspect of reincarnating? Or are they actually going to go after God, LOL :D

B/c we already know what God does when the government tries to tell Him what to do:

(about 2500 years after Buddha) there is no one here who can say, "I heard the Buddha say differently"

(about 2500 years after Buddha) there is no one here who can say, "these are Buddha's words"

(about 2500 years after Buddha) there is no one here who can say, "this is exactly what Buddha said / meant"

Do you expect anyone to believe this , "I presented the Buddha's words directly" ? As if you are having a telepathic relationship with Buddha or may be his reincarnation.

I presented the words attributed to Him in Buddhist scripture.

Going by your logic, one could also say that the Gita is now in doubt, since no one actually heard directly from Lord Krishna's mouth (other than Arjuna) some 5000 years ago.

Wow! I've never seen Krishna :( And I probably won't for a very long time. radhey

Just a fore-taste. Gurudeva said what I see is not the full picture but shows my practice is moving in the right direction. You are on the right path Radhey in your love for Radharani, I aspire for faith such as yours and admire that!

My faith is small... but Radharani is very loving and merciful, so hopefully She will accept what I have to offer.

many evangelical protestants I have talked to over the years have argued to me that God has no form. They quote bits of Jesus words when he says 'God is spirit, what is born of spirit is spirit, what is born of flesh is flesh'.

They have very basic understandings of God freom there limited literal interpretations, from scripture that is very limited in many ways.

Well of course God is spirit, but spirit can have form as well! Silly ministers, Nectar's for devotees!:D
