ko'ham va kimidam visvabhavayoh ko'nvayoh dhruvam atmanam nivrto jivah prcchati jnanasiddhaye

"After many many lifetimes the living entity who is wise develops the following inquiries: Who am I? What is this material existence in reality? What is the actual relationship between me and this creation?"

"A certain imaginative Vedanta commentator has presented a false theory that the individual spirit soul and the Supreme Personality of Godhead are one in all respects. A devotee scholar, learned in the Puranas, rejects this fallacy and, with expert logic, establishes the eternal distinction between the individual spirit soul and the Supreme Personality of Godhead."

Although many great savants of the science of niti such as Brihaspati, Shukracharya, Bhartrihari and Vishnusharma have echoed many of these instructions in their own celebrated works, it is perhaps the way that Chanakya applied his teachings of niti-shastra that has made him stand out as a significant historical figure. The great Pandit teaches us that lofty ideals can become a certain reality if we intelligently work towards achieving our goal in a determined, progressive and practical manner.

"Lord Visnu's very wonderful realm is named Paravyoma. It is like a great city of regal palaces. It is filled with the most exalted transcendental knowledge, and it shines far beyond the darkness of matter. In this spiritual world Lord Krishna appears as Narayana, Vasudeva, and His other catur-vyuha expansions, and as Lord Nrisimha and His other lila expansions. In these forms He displays His transcendental opulences and enjoys pastimes with His devotees."

From the Garuda Purana, Brihaspati explains the essence of polity based on economics for the benefit of kings and others. It is holy, conducive to longevity, heavenly bliss, etc.

Shri Shankara composed a number of hymns to foster the sense of devotion in the hearts of men and this is His greatest service. Bhaja Govindam is one among His many works and in this short garland of poems in praise of Lord Govinda (Krishna), He dwells upon the ephemeral nature of life upon the greatness of Guru, Bhakti, etc.

agre kurUNAm atha pANDavAnAM
duHshAsanenAhRita-vastra-keshA
kRiShNA tadAkroshad ananya-nAthA
govinda dAmodara mAdhaveti

Before the assembled Kurus and Pandas, when Duhshasana caught her hair and clothing, Krishna (Draupadi), having no other Lord, cried out, "Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!"

"Let me glorify Vrajabhumi, the place where Sri Krishna enjoys transcendental pastimes. Simply by drinking with their ears the nectarean description of Vrajabhumi, the liberated souls abandon the bliss of impersonal Brahman and yearn to attain the land of Vraja."

"Before creation of the universe everything was situated within the Supreme Personality of Godhead (Brahman), everything was contained within Him, nothing was at that time separate. The jivas (individual souls, tatastha sakti) and even the external energy Maya was still within Him. So that Lord then willed to manifest all the worlds through me (mahi dasa aitareya)."

"I offer my obeisances to Lalita devi, who has many wonderful qualities. She worships the perspiration of Sri Sri Radha-Mukunda's lotus feet and acts boldly, out of intense feelings of friendship for Them."

"You are bathed by streams of splendour that rebuke gold, lightning, and the campaka flower. Your splendid garments are friend to the bandhuka flower. O Vrinda, I bow to your lotus feet."

"In the month of Kartika one should worship Lord Krishna by daily reciting the prayer spoken by sage Satyavrata Muni known as Damodarashtakam." - Hari-bhakti-vilasa 2.16.198

This Upanishad was published by the great pioneer of the Krishna-bhakti movement Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur. The Thakur searched the length and breadth of Bengal to procure an original copy of the manuscript of this rare Upanishad, which describes the unique position and advent of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. It also describes the glorious position and importance of the Maha-mantra, or the chanting of the divine name of Sri Krishna.

na yoga-siddhir na mamastu mokso
vaikuntha-loke pi na parsadatvam
premapi na syad iti cet taram tu
mamastu vrindavana eva vasah

"Let me not have mystic powers, impersonal liberation, the Lord's association in Vaikuntha, or even pure love for Him, if instead of them I may reside in Vrindavana."
