  1. kd gupta, The soul is made of brahman. The soul is eternal, all-cognizant, all-blissfull. The soul is indivisable & atomically very tiny. God-almighty is the present as the nucleus of each souls being, in every being [concsous or non-conscous]. God-almighty is his own transcendant person, far far away from the limits of MATERIAL TIME & SPACE yet expontially giantically larger than any thing that can be thought of. So, our short life-times, birth after birth, afford us repeated chances to come to "That which is absolute" ---regardless of the phantasmagoric occurances during each of our births throughout time. "The glory of AUM is illustrated in vedas" --- the name of the materially manifest cosmos is an 'echoic' (onomatopoeic) name of the person who first banged-the-gong. AUM is the sound of the cosmos humming. Brahma-ananda (blissfull feeling of being) is the soul's constitutional quality. This bliss is there from the start but is covered by all sorts of subtle ego stratums of mind-constructs that place interest in other mind-constructs as past-times during ones life span. That is why bliss is felt during meditation --training the soul to stop PAYING its attention (consciousness) to temporal material phenonena. A Vaishnava keeps their eye on a goal beyond these things
  2. Extreme fatigue brings a state of euphoria ---when you rest your body upon the bedstead, No? Extreme loss leaves a person free of all obligations --- an unwelcomed state of euphoria, No? Extreme loss leaves a person without care --- this is the basis of a state of euphoria, No? Extreme helplessness leaves a person to surrender to sublime care from others --- this iis the basis of a state of euphoria, No? Extreme comfort and ease leaves a person without desires --- this is the basis of a state of euphoria, No? Extreme preparation leaves a person without anxiety --- this is the basis of a state of euphoria, No? Extreme vehicular highway traffic leaves a person with a perfect exuse for being late ---this is the basis of a blamelessness, --- this is the basis of a state of time to relax and follow the flow, No? Our minds do not allow us time-off to smell the flowers. When the rent is due --smelling flowers will not provide the free-time to relax. The path of being free must be felt with practice ---all other times-of-the-day are given-over to societal obligations.
  3. These chemists will be able to afford to send their children to the best schools money can afford! —What an irony. These industrial chemists are like the Evil-megalomaniacs seen in 007 James Bond Spy Thrillers —Yes, along with the campy quasi-sci-fi tongue-in-cheek self-mockery into the bargain!! —What an irony. When I was a child —Grandpa Munster's recipes were the stuff that caused nausea just to hear the ingredients —now we serve humanity with worse things then ever feared! —What an irony. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Who is the iconic Grandpa Munster? 4. I am a milkaholic --yet I agree with Theist on the principle of ahimsa. yet, my very cynical response is: The Bees [pollenating insects] have disappeared enmass . . . when it is conclusively revealed that agricultural pesticides caused their disappearence ---then shall we stop buying veggies from the industry that caused the bees to die?

  6. Seasoned "Student of Eastern Philosophy" seems workable ---thank you for the consideration!
  7. "feeling for sufferings of others" material and spiritual causes a Vaishnava to be dedicated to the path of sadhana [versus taking up the duties of rectifying the world's personal persuits] True World leaders must make provisions to cultivate vaishnava advisors. "does not criticize anyone" means the sadhaka must stay aloof. [versus wannabe scholars dialoguing on internet forums]. A vaishnava's chasticment is nectar! Ask Kesiserose--- he gets unlimitedly enlivened by such chasticment. "has conquered passion, avarice and anger" is the due course for any transcendentalist [versus materail society's Entertainment and Reportage Industrialists who send their kids to Ivy League Schools from the profits made by publicising the worlds woes---Vaishnavas are not war mongers or profiteers]
  8. Thank you master Thiest & Master Primate. But you have answered my request in phlisophical terms. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I am referring to the following types of persons that I want to approach to press upon them topics from the Vedic POV: Dear Mayor of the City, I am a "_________" so, accordingly I am expressing my views as based on the Vedas of ancient India . . . or, Dear Congress member, or, Dear Television News Person, or, Dear Local Council member, or, Dear Police Chief member, or, I'm seeking a secular [non-sectarian] nomenclature for a non-accredited Scholar/activist/self-motivated spokesman of societal Issues from the Vedic POV ---without the stumbling-blocks of disparagement by the secular party that I will be approaching. If I explain Important issues [in a comprehensible & competant way] I do not want to be ignored because I am precieved as a religionist-propagandist ---even before I am given a listening audience.
  9. Also, remember that when resting comfortably ---that the feeling of 'comfort' is the embrace of Maya's form & energy. Maya's lulling attraction is misplaced when sought in others forms known by other names . . .
  10. Leave a piece of Stinky Cheese (ie: provalone, limberger) in a choice spot ---at a meaty place. Or leave some broccoli, coliflower, garlic cloves & onion mash.
  11. SEEKING ADVISE: If I present myself to the public media [ie: Tele, Newsprint, Radio] to debate topics like 'Cow-protection', 'Vegetarianism', 'Meditation', 'Yoga' etc: How should I (I am an Iskcon Hare Krishna Devotee) present myself? Do I say, 'I am an Orthodox-Hindu'? Which Title is the least denominational --yet presumably accepted as authentic? Keep in mind that I would assume that I would be heavy-handed and unbending and thus old-school Orthodox. Please advise.
  12. The Soul leaves the body at death via one of the nine gates. Some of these gates are "painfull" to pass through [how is pain felt at that time?]. If a dead body is found to have emptied its bowls upon death, is it correct to presume the person was sinful & carried off by Yamadutas?
  13. 1-We preceive a "Higher Taste" in spirituality and take some steps down the path of detachment. 2-When we realise how long life could last we wonder about the notion that "If we renounce now, we will yearn later" [like a dieting fat person who forgets that there will still be a box of biscuits on the shelf for consumption later--yet this dieting fat person feels compelled to devour the biscuits and thus ruin the diet regimen]. 3-We become "conditioned" to become the person that our ego defines that we are sexual beings. Next, we learn to "Transcend being a sexual being" Yet furthermore, we subtly convince our minds that "If I am human participant of this world, I must deserve to have some common pleasure, lest I be judge non-human" ---this is a trick of the mind. Anyway, "regulating" ones activities takes time. And the final goal is to see that the "All-in-all-goal" is beyond temporal delights.
  14. This is so universally applicable, across the board, of all systems of philosophy/religion/spirituality/insurance company premiums ---I hope others will comment on this topic in depth. No matter how much a person may proclaim to know intellectually ---it all boils down to this Final Examination. Please let us explore this topic thoroughly.
  15. This is so organically oldschool. It reminds me of Taoist-like lessons. Just as one can learn from a fool --so too, one must be reminded at all occurences who to remain "fixed-up".
  16. The human body literally glows, emitting a visible light in extremely small quantities at levels that rise and fall with the day, scientists now reveal. Past research has shown that the body emits visible light, 1,000 times less intense than the levels to which our naked eyes are sensitive. In fact, virtually all living creatures emit very weak light, which is thought to be a byproduct of biochemical reactions involving free radicals. (This visible light differs from the infrared radiation — an invisible form of light — that comes from body heat.) To learn more about this faint visible light, scientists in Japan employed extraordinarily sensitive cameras capable of detecting single photons. Five healthy male volunteers in their 20s were placed bare-chested in front of the cameras in complete darkness in light-tight rooms for 20 minutes every three hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for three days. The researchers found the body glow rose and fell over the day, with its lowest point at 10 a.m. and its peak at 4 p.m., dropping gradually after that. These findings suggest there is light emission linked to our body clocks, most likely due to how our metabolic rhythms fluctuate over the course of the day. Faces glowed more than the rest of the body. This might be because faces are more tanned than the rest of the body, since they get more exposure to sunlight — the pigment behind skin color, melanin, has fluorescent components that could enhance the body's miniscule light production. Since this faint light is linked with the body's metabolism, this finding suggests cameras that can spot the weak emissions could help spot medical conditions, said researcher Hitoshi Okamura, a circadian biologist at Kyoto University in Japan. "If you can see the glimmer from the body's surface, you could see the whole body condition," said researcher Masaki Kobayashi, a biomedical photonics specialist at the Tohoku Institute of Technology in Sendai, Japan. The scientists detailed their findings online July 16 in the journal PLoS ONE.
  17. Sodium Bisulfite Certain toilet bowl cleaners are almost 50 percent sodium bisulfite, and most commercial wines also contain it. When dissolved in water-based liquids, sodium bisulfite releases sulfur gas that kills bacteria, yeasts, molds, and fungi. It also prevents oxidation, which protects wine from turning to vinegar. This popular compound has a dubious past. It was banned from use on raw fruits and veggies by the FDA in the '80s following the deaths of 13 people who unknowingly consumed produce treated with toxic amounts of the preservative. Today, the FDA maintains that sulfites are generally safe. The Center for Science in the Public Interest however, warns asthmatics and others sensitive to sulfites to avoid it completely. It is now most commonly used in pet foods, potato chips and dried and pickled foods. Benzoyl Peroxide What do white bread and acne cream have in common? Best-known as a zit-zapper, benzoyl peroxide is an effective bleaching agent, and as such is used in teeth whitening products and to bleach cheese, whey and flour. While benzoyl peroxide is generally considered benign, there has been some debate over its safety and necessity. Usually, artisanal bread and cheese do not contain this bleaching agent, and some national companies, like King Arthur, don't use benzoyl peroxide in their bread or flour. Did you really need another reason to choose whole wheat? Potassium Bromate Potassium bromate is a seemingly innocuous powder added to biscuits, breads and rolls to make them rise. But there's a hitch: Potassium bromate is known to cause cancer in animals, and creates a cancer risk in humans. Usually, potassium bromate is completely dissipated by the baking process, but if too much is added or bread is not cooked for long enough at a high enough temperature, dangerous residual amounts remain. The International Agency for Research on Cancer defines potassium bromate as "possibly carcinogenic to humans." Because it's difficult to control how a company uses the ingredient, almost all countries have banned it from use in food products. In the United States, however, the FDA has merely been asking bakers to voluntarily stop using it; some have not complied. The Center for Science in the Public Interest categorizes potassium bromate as an additive to avoid, defining it as "very poorly tested and not worth any risk." To avoid potassium bromate, also look for "bromated flour" on labels. Tetrasodium Phosphorate Tetrasodium phosphorate has the unglamorous distinction of being the common ingredient in multiple semi-gooey foods. The transparent crystals are used as an emulsifier, a buffering agent and a thickening agent in chicken nuggets, pudding, imitation crab and lobster, canned tuna and many soy-based faux meats. It is also an effective detergent and tartar control agent, which can be found in toothpaste, soap, and dental floss. Despite its unglamorous pedigree, tetrasodium phosphorate has not seen much controversy, though in high doses, it can be mildly toxic. Sodium Nitrite Nitrite, found in hot dogs, is positively unnerving: This crystalline powder is used to dye fabrics, manufacture rubber chemicals and to fix color in packaged meats. If consumed in high doses, it's toxic. It can also trigger migraines. If that's not enough to freak you out, how about this: According to a study in the "Journal of the American Medical Association," people who ate processed meat were 50 percent more likely to develop colorectal cancer. A study in the "Journal of the National Cancer Institute" found that those who ate the most processed meats had a 68 percent higher risk of pancreatic cancer than those who ate the least. The Center for Science in the Public Interest categorizes nitrate as an additive to avoid. If possible, stay away from packaged meats, or buy the nitrite-free varieties popping up in supermarkets across the country. Methylparaben Methylparaben can be found in, among other things, lipstick, local anesthetic, salad dressings, dried meats, potato-based snacks and candy. Like most compounds in the paraben family, it's antimicrobial and is used most often as a preservative in foods, drinks and cosmetics. While multiple studies have reported that parabens are safe, a few more recent studies suggest a possible link between parabens -- including ethylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparabe -- to breast cancer. Industries that use parabens insist on their proven track record, while some public interest organizations believe that parabens require further study to definitively confirm their safety. Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein You may think you've sworn off monosodium glutamate, or MSG, but you're eating its equivalent in some brands of chicken noodle soup. That's because MSG -- that demonized flavor enhancer -- comes in many forms, and one of them is hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP). HVP is a brown powder that is produced when cereals and legumes like corn, soy and wheat are boiled in hydrochloric acid and then neutralized with sodium hydroxide. The powder contains, among other things, glutamic acid, the sodium salt form of which is MSG. Food producers don't want to be associated with MSG -- the infamous bad boy of the ingredients world, believed to be linked to neurological problems and known to trigger severe allergic reactions and migraines -- but they do want to infuse their broths, stews, and meat and poultry products with its savory taste. Enter HVP, which sounds pretty healthy, with the words "vegetable" and "protein" in it. While it may not do harm to those who aren't sensitive to it, it's risky for those whose systems react badly to glutamates. To avoid unknowingly consuming glutamates, check labels (even of products marked "No MSG") for other sources of glutamate like autolyzed yeast extract and hydrolyzed yeast extract. Lactic Acid Enjoy a tart cup of yogurt in the morning? Or a nice side of sauerkraut with your Bavarian sausage feast? You have lactic acid to thank for that bittersweet taste. Lactic acid is a harmless organic acid that occurs naturally in sour milk or is added to food as a syrupy liquid produced from either milk-sugar fermentation or corn fermentation. Lactic acid infuses food with tartness, adjusts PH balance, and can control micro-organisms and bacteria. As a fermentation booster, it is used in rye and sourdough breads. As a moisturizer and exfoliant, it's added to skin lotions. Lactic acid spends most of its time preserving or flavoring baby food, candy, frozen desserts, salad dressings, seafood, and more.
  18. Why haven't you Cut and Pasted here? If not "fruitive activity" then what do the Vedas "promote"? Your elementary illogic is laughable! Activities are the basis of existance. Let me bestow some mercy on you --To see that your arguement is irrefutably way off the mark, Understand the description of the Banyan Tree --AS KRISHNA DESCRIBES IT & and then respond.
  19. My calcs per Bhagavatam, is Jada Bharata lived during the 1st Manu's lifetime 2 Billion 160 Million years ago [2,160,000,000 BC ---SB 8.1.4] His great-great Grand-father was Priyavrata, who was son of Svayambhuva Manu [1st Manu of the current Day-of-Brahma (the current kalpa) ~we are now in the 7th Manu's lifetime] . . . so, Now . . . after so much time has past since Jada Bharata's time ---we are so sure that an unrevealed, hidden mantra, specifically, the HARE KRISHNA MAHA MANTRA, as "recorded" in the Kali-santarana Upanishad ---was not known to any one anywhere at any time other than sudras, mudhas and dinanaradhamas 5,000 years into our precious gestation years of Kali-yuga??? I admit that Srila Prabhupada used the term "Chanted Hare Krishna" when translating an ancient event where Vedic Sages or even Vedic Demigods prayed Hymns & Mantras . . . he did the same, interchangably with terms like, "preformed devotional Service" or "preformed bhakti-yoga" or "prayed to the Supreme Lord" or "chanted Vedic mantras" or "preformed jagyas" or "recited pastimes of the ancients" . . . So, Raghu, [allow me to throw a curve ball at you here]: Why do you (though I know it's easily acceptable by most people) dismiss the notion that the Hare Krishna Mahamantra was once known and was bestowed to us after the disciplic succession was lost? Why do you dismiss that Srila Prabhupada's tranlation is only what appears on the surface? There SHOULD BE hidden depths in his commentaries & especially in his choice words in his sanskrit translations. So, the dhatus (sanskrit word-roots) in the words: HA RE KRISH NA & RA MA should be of ernest interest ---not the professorial choice of noumenclature ---except by other scholars' works-in-progress, maybe.
  20. Chanting Hare Krishna may be nondifferent from thinking of the Lord's glories. But the bottom line is that the text does NOT say that he was chanting Hare Krishna. .................................................................... Yes. You are correct & I agree with you. Maybe we are afflicted with a case intellectual obesity.
  21. After I finish writting this I will read the rest of your post. First, I will comment on your Non-Statement: "I can't comment on your intelligence." Too Bad. Also, Don't worry about getting excited about your posting. Just learn from REAL WELLWISHING YOGIS. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The Hare Krishna Mantra is called the MAHA-MANTRA for a good reason. Talk about "Becoming indifferent to the vedas" You have become indifferent to "MahaMantras" according to your calculations?
  22. Chanting "Hare Krishna Mahamantra" and/or "always thinking of the lotus feet of the Lord and chanting the Lord's glories" ---seems to be the 'same-difference' to me. But I am just a dumb jackass . . . not smart enough nor good enough to chant the Vedas.
  23. Mt 5:48 — Be ye therefore perfect, even as your FATHER which is IN HEAVEN is perfect. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Surely you all know that we must prepare ourselves to recieve the audience of God? The specific ettiquette is taught by Vaishnavas --otherwise such knowledge (of the Mystery of God) is only appreciated by way of hankerings culimnating in a superficial state of titillating suspense. Even if God is a faceless Cloud-Spirit-Mystery to your mind . . . in your concept/revelations of the 'Ways of Heaven' --do you truely suppose that there is meat eating in Heaven? . . do you truely suppose that there are creatures running around in Heaven with the dharma that they will be caught for food, as a transcendental pastime in God's company? If you think, "Yeah but, Yeah but, Yeah but, Yeah but . . ." ---then just see ungracious and crass and mundanely we Lie to ourselves about what we truely think philosophically! If you think, "Yes, maybe" ---you are lieing to yourself ---you are talking something you really don't believe!
  24. The Gita speaks of Three Progressive levels of Mystic Vision/realization: 1 Brahman - The all-prevading, Untarnished, eternal, unborn, non-material Void. 2 Param-Atma - The living force in the heart of all things. 3 Bhagavan - God the father in The Kingdom of Heaven. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Each has its required ettiquette/rules of Action. The ettiquette/rules of Action are borne out of appriciating the lessons that teach avoidence from Bad ettiquette & erroneous rules of Actions. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Forget your sentiments ---Read the instruction manual again and again. BTW, when feeling poor/helpless/dejected/weak/frail/sleepy ---release all things and sense the (inverse-approach) of bliss (ananda). The rasa (and bliss) of renunciation begins with releasing all anxiety and misgivings.
  25. You are too much on the Mental Platform. You must learn from the events you experience. "Stupidity" is not to be confused with innocent mistakes. "Stupidity" does not occur to provide a lesson for compassion. "Stupidity" provides a lesson as to 'what to avoid' ---while preforming your duty [ie: while driving your car you pass car accident on the other road --you look and are reminded as to what you should concentrate on, as, ironically, the police wave you on saying 'there's nothing to look at, keep moving', and, ironically, as the helicopter takes Photos for the morning newspapers or dinner-Time television Reports]. It is not possible to continue to eat meat ---after taking (honoring) Krishna-Prasadam. If so, one has only jsut "tasted" Krishna-Prasadam. One returns for more Krishna-Prasadam because they must confirm what they had only "tasted" last time they took Krishna-Prasadam. The taste for foods other than Krishna-Prasadam are overshadowed by "What you are "missing out on". If you cannot arrainge for daily consumption of Krishna-Prasadam --that is the "height of mis-fortune par excellence**" [see? **No contradiction.].
