  1. Infinitely small is just as infinite as infinitely big. That's why I always tell my friends to "get small". Even my dog understood it. (passed away 10 days ago).
  2. The Goswamis that he is referring to, were the Six Goswamis of Vrndavana. Baladeva appeared around 100 years after the youngest Goswami, Sri Jiva departed this world. The circumstance a century and a half later were different. Actually Srila Visvanatha Chakravarti Thakura wanted to take up this task of defending Mahaprabhu's line, but was too old and invalid, so he left it to his siksa disciple, Srila Baladeva Vidyabhushana. Actually Srila Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada dedicated his Bhagavad Gita As It Is to Srila Baladeva Vidyabhushana.
  3. It is intellectually dishonest (or confused) to represent oneself as a nay-sayer in one context and and true believer in another. It's not all about winning and losing debates but rather it should be about the search for truth.
  4. .... Bhagavatam is accepted as the real commentary on the Vedanta-sutra. Real commentary. Bhasyam brahma-sutranam. Vedartha paribrmhitam. These are the statements. This is accepted by the acaryas. In the Gaudiya-sampradaya, therefore, the Gosvamis, they did not write any comment on the Vedanta-sutra although other acaryas like Ramanujacarya, Madhavacarya, they wrote commentaries on the Bhagavad, uh, Vedanta-sutra. But our Gosvamis, they did not write purposefully, because they accept that there is already natural perfect commentary written by the same author, Vyasadeva, the Srimad-Bhagavatam. Bhasyam brahma-sutranam." Srila Prabhupada Lecture on Nectar of Devotion, 01-01-73, Bombay
  5. October 21, 1968 Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada:
  6. Why not smaller? Small is beautiful. Get small!
  7. Srila Sridhar Maharaj said that Vyasadev is not a specific person but rather a post. Srila Dvaipayan Vyasadev is the compiler of the four Vedas, Puranas - including Srimad Bhagavatam, Mahabharata and other books. Srila Dvaipayan Vyasadev is a specific person who was also a shaktyavesa avatar. Of course so must be Srila Vrndavan das Thakur and Srila Krsna das Kaviraj for no one can give such transcendental literatures without being empowered, krsna sakti vina nahi tara pravartana.
  8. Srila Bhakti Sunadar Govinda Maharaj:
  9. Looks like an aggressive and unempathetic response to "aggressive and unempathic "preaching." The problem is not Iskcon or any other affiliation. Playing guru is just another way to express one's egotism. But in many ways you are correct but your analysis is really one of how religion and religious internet forums just might not mix. The internet hides how one behaves in real life, unfortuately we have become the internet's unwitting slaves.
  10. You were serving the divine couple millions and trillions of years ago!
  11. This is what I alleged six weeks ago and was met with a smokescreen! You may say that his reply above is sarcastic but where there is smoke there is fire. And a Christian on a campaign against the Vaisnava concept of guru.
  12. cbrahma quotes the story of Mahaprabhu telling that his spiritual master said that he not study the Vedanta but simply take Krsna nama. This lila is often used to support the idea that Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is God Himself and He takes a guru just to set the example for us conditioned souls. But even when this is pointed out to cbrahma it goes right over his head. Stick to computer science cbrahma and just follow Mahaprabhu and stop trying to figure everything out. We all must get our hearts straightened out first.
  13. I dont' believe that he rejected this idea for it is told in the sastras and in certain places he has repeated this in his books when appropriate. But his point made in several letters was that a.) things are seen differently from the eternal viewpoint of Vaikuntha, and b.) the bramhajyoti or tatastha origin paradigm cannot answer all questions and can be defeated by logic. The Vaikuntha origins paradigm can also be defeated by logic. If Maya has no influence in Vaikuntha how would anyone be allured to enjoy separately from Krsna? This is one contradiction. There are more and both Number 1 and Number 2 can be established or defeated by logical argument, hence the crow and tal fruit example. No Gaudiya Math or traditional Gaudiyas have espoused the Vaikuntha origins paradigm but I believe that Srila Prabhupada used it to illustrate "crow and tal fruit logic". Remember although Srila Sridhar Maharaj used the tatsatha origins paradigm, he also preached "Back to Godhead" in his talks. He also preached Number 3 which I am quoting next. All our acaryas accept this (Number 3) and because it does not describe the origin of the jiva which is in itself contradictory because the jiva is really eternal like the Lord. So since Number 3 doesn't deal with the origin concept but rather the eternal present it is a different kind of presentation entirely. After reading so many quotes of Srila Prabhupada that have recently come to light and looking at the explanations of jiva tattva in Jaiva Dharma I have come to this conclusion which I believe harmonizes each aspect.

  15. Actually my position has evolved over the last few months. But I do believe that when Srila Prabhupada wrote in the Bhagavatam purport that "no one falls from Vaikuntha", he was just quoting or paraphrasing a previous commentary. I believe that Srila Prabhupada told three different ideas: 1. That all life comes from the brahmajyoti. 2. That we came down from Vaikuntha. 3. That we are all nitya siddha and therefore already liberated but that we just have to realize this. Yet ultimately he took no firm position on ideas 1 and 2 because he knew that they are just ideas expressed in language that has the concepts of material time built in to it. Therefore he used the metaphor of the crow and the tal fruit and showed the concept behind this in the way that he would deal with the origin of the soul issue with his disciples. The only way to please him in this regard is to get passed this issue and not allow it to be devisive. Harmony, divine harmony is the answer. But in our own lives we are so far from that ideal and our defense mechanism is to blame a society or others for our own self-imposed bondage.

  19. If she (more likely he) was really 14 then she'd be in school or being home schooled during the times that her posts take place. Moreover she (more likely he) has the understanding of a man who has studied Gaudiya Vaisnavism for at least 2 if not 3 decades. I haven't met many women with such a mentality and understanding and I'm not saying that it doesn't exist. But I would categorically state that such a mentality would not be found in a 14 year old girl. If it did then I would consider such a 14 year old girl to be one of my siksa gurus. Anyway I appreciate Indulekha dasi's posts but I just don't believe that she's a 14 year old girl.
  20. Indulekha http://iskconkl.wordpress.com/2007/09/03/krishnas-gopi-associates/ Indulekha is the sixth of the varistha gopis. She has a lemon-yellow (tan) complexion and wears garments the color of a pomegranate flower. She is three days younger than Srimati Radharani, being 14 years, 2 months and 10 1/2 days of age. Her parents are Sagara and Vela-devi and her husband is Durbala. On the southeastern petal of Madana-sukhada Kunja lies the golden-colored Purnendu Kunja, where Sri Indulekha lives. In gaura-lila she appears as Vasu Ramananda. Indulekha-devi has a deep love for Sri Krishna and possesses the prosita-bhartrka-bhava. She often serves Krsna by bringing Him nectar-like delicious meals. She is vama-prakhara and her principal seva is fanning with a camara. Indulekha is contrary and hot-tempered by nature. She is learned in the science and mantras of the Naga-sastra, which describes various methods of charming snakes. She is also learned in the Samudraka-sastra, which describes the science of palmistry. She is expert at stringing various kinds of wonderful necklaces, decorating the teeth with red substances, gemology and weaving various kinds of cloth. In her hand she carries the auspicious messages of the Divine Couple. In this way she creates the good fortune of Radha and Krsna by creating Their mutual love and attraction. Indulekha-devi is fully aware of the confidential secrets of the Divine Couple. Some of her friends are engaged in providing ornaments for the Divine Couple, others provide exquisite garments, and others guard their treasury. In Sri Indulekha’s yutha the chief gopis are Tungabhadra, Citralekha, Surangi, Rangavatika, Mangala, Suvicitrangi, Modini and Madana. The group of gopis headed by Tungabhadra-devi are the friends and neighours of Indulekha. Among these gopis is a group, headed by Palindhika-devi, which acts as messengers for the Divine Couple.

  23. Srila Sridhar Maharaj would spontaneously chant after a few sentences of speaking Hari katha. He would suddenly spontaneously chant, "nitai gaura hari bol", "nitai gaura hari bol", "nitai gaura hari bol" then "dayal nita", "dayal nita", "dayal nita" and then "Mahaprabhu Gauranga Sundar", "Mahaprabhu Gauranga Sundar", "Mahaprabhu Gauarnga Sundar", then the Mahamantra. Sometimes the orders of the mantras would change as would their numbers. Sometime he would just say over and over "Caitanya Nitai."
