  1. Jai Ganesh Re (Think what you may Ganeshprasad, but it is a fact that majority Hindus in Northern India are followers of Shiva (meaning that these people believe Shiva as supreme). Vaishnavites have always been a minority in any part of India.) This is news to me, and it does not matter to me much as long as Hindus follow dharma. up North the Vaisnava V Shaiva rivairy never was as intense as down south. And from where i come from ie. Gujrat such enmity was unheard off. Re ( This is the sure sign of kali Yuga progressing faster. ) progress of kali is unavoidable, we dont help much when we make wild accusation or divide ourself on grounds of Shiva Or Vishnu worship. Re (I gave this reply to set right the prjudice this Shivite holds for Vaishnavas. He thinks that teachings of Shaivam only is good. I want to show him that it is these fellows who follow Shaivam, in essence, that did the demolishing of Ayodhya structure(I call it a structure deliberately). This fool also believes in AIT, which is evident from his writings in Vedas and Gita.) I agree this person has not helped much, and who ever believes in AIT i fill sorry for, since they are not able to see the blatant lies the old masters told, to rule us and make us look foolish. Jai Shree Krishna
  2. Jai Ganesh Re (I have never heard of ISKCON participating in destruction of Ayodhya structure. To the contrary, these were all done by followers or believers of Shiva.) It is true i have not heard anything like that either. It would be too much to ask Iskcon to participate. But to suggest they were all followers of Shiva is pure ignorance, malicious and anti Hindu, but then i suspect you are not a Hindu Jai Shree Krishna
  3. Jai Ganesh Not so much of humbleness I am afraid, I fell for it in your quote of “anbE Sivam!” I thought you spoke and practiced love, but since then I have read most of your post and majority are hateful and divisive. What you call stone ideal to a lot of people it is not mere representation of god but actual god. The deity, through Vedic mantras and pranPrthista process, is non different from god, yes we must fill the presence of god every where but the temple becomes a focal point where the presence is more focused. While it is commendable to avoid violence and common sense to prevail but it is utterly cowardice to suggest that an aggressor to be appeased and not protect your property. What you call an insignificant piece of land irrelevant is very dear to lots of Ram Bhakta. I doubt if someone occupy your house, you will have same view and suggest to that person you are welcome sir, have some more. Jai Shree Krishna
  4. Jai ganesh Good have it your way One sure way to win an argument is to shut people up or ask them to stop posting, just as you asked Shaivite. This way you will be able to misquote and say what ever you wish. Word of advise not that you will take but I say it any way, practice and follow your path with love and devotion but try not to force on to others. If you think that the sakti and saktiman are two distinct thing then so be it Jai Shree Krishna
  5. Jai Ganesh Re (says men of petty intelligence worship devatas for material benefits. He also says 'my devotees come to me.' Which would you prefer, Ganesh? ) My preference has nothing to do with what you wrote, nor do I impose my preference on others atleast I try not to. Let me remind you what you wrote and I quote “Krishna is very clear that we shouldn't worship devatas for material benefits. If at all you want to worship them, you may do so to attain Uttama Bhakti for Krishna. “ un quote In contrast here is what Krishna says, TEXT 20 kamais tais tair hrta-jnanah prapadyante 'nya-devatah tam tam niyamam asthaya prakrtya niyatah svaya They, whose wisdom has been carried away by various desires impelled by their own Sanskaara, resort to other gods (or deities) and practice various religious rites. (7.20) TEXT 21 yo yo yam yam tanum bhaktah sraddhayarcitum icchati tasya tasyacalam sraddham tam eva vidadhamy aham Whosoever desires to worship whatever deity (using whatever name, form, and method) with faith, I make their faith steady in that very deity. (7.21) This is complete opposite to what you had written. Do you agree? Please also note it is not the man of petty inteligence who worship anya devta but rather those with various desires resort to worship of that devta, takes on a complete different meaning. Here the worship of anya devta is not condemned but actualy the desires of an individual is questioned. Why would he have said this in chapter three, devan bhavayatanena te deva bhavayantu vah parasparam bhavayantah sreyah param avapsyatha sreyah--benediction; param--the supreme; avapsyatha--do you achieve. Nourish the Devas with Yajna, and the Devas will nourish you. Thus nourishing one another you shall attain the Supreme goal. (3.11) Those who have agenda to promote Krishna (as if to say he needs promoting) try distort the meaning and thus divide the Vedic people. Let me ask you sir are you free from desires? Jai Shree Krishna
  6. Jai Ganesh Re (We notice that the contemporaries quote God as distinct from his Yenergy, or more klearly the Yexternal Yenergy. May be this is one of the contemporarily spoken things to announce the intent to make Krishna or the supreme being proud, regardless of what krishna explains in BG.) Yes it is easy to make that assumption and I can see why, such is the nature of words, we can understand that the energy and energetic can not be distinct. Energy does come in different forms, when we discuss material energy and its temporary nature; it is not difficult to make the distinction. Point was we may love god in his full glory or we may love his energy, which is temporary, or changing in nature thus perceived to be different. bg4.11 ye yatha mam prapadyante tams tathaiva bhajamy aham mama vartmanuvartante manusyah partha sarvasah All of them--as they surrender unto Me--I reward accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Prtha. Jai Shree Krishna
  7. Jai Ganesh Pranam Shaiviteji I read your post with great interest nice post keep it up Sivam Pranam Guestji Re (But basically people think they should love someone only when the others love them as well..that is a Hindu should love a true Hindu..like in BGeetha that god would love u only if u do so and so and be so and so..if LOVE is GOD,then it means unconditional.) In Gita i see no cumpulsion, in fact Krishna ends with saying now do what you have to do. we all say love should be unconditional, and so it should be, but us mortals are self propelled always with an ulterior motives Is god love? of course yes, only we do not see it,we fail to recognize he/she is the provider the proprietor we fail to love him back. choice is ours we either love him or love his external energy, but he loves us unconditionaly Jai Shree Krishna
  8. Jai Ganesh Re (Krishna is very clear that we shouldn't worship devatas for material benefits. If at all you want to worship them, you may do so to attain Uttama Bhakti for Krishna.) Where did you learn this? on other hand this is what is said in Gita devan bhavayatanena te deva bhavayantu vah parasparam bhavayantah sreyah param avapsyatha sreyah--benediction; param--the supreme; avapsyatha--do you achieve. Nourish the Devas with Yajna, and the Devas will nourish you. Thus nourishing one another you shall attain the Supreme goal. (3.11) yajante sattvika devan yaksa-raksamsi rajasah pretan bhuta-ganams canye yajante tamasa janah The Saattvika persons worship Devas, the Raajasika people worship demons, and the Taamasika persons worship ghosts and spirits. (17.04) Jai Shree Krishna
  9. Jai Ganesh Re (What generosity r u talking about,am i getting paid to post here, that can be called generosity..) How low do you want to get, now you want to be paid for absuing us. Re (yes im here to learn things..i already told u,if u dont know the answer u dont have to reply..) What by absuing us and insulting the Gods we care to follow? Re (if u find it irritating that means its beyond ur reach..let someone else answer it..) it sure is irritating, weather it is beyond me, you never find out. Re (People who question god also can seek guidance..dont show ur ignorance by just abusing me.) By all means question god but if you think you can gain anything by insulting god you are so mistaken. If i have abused you i am sorry Jai Shree Krishna
  10. Jai Ganesh Re (There are lot of folks here under Guest) Yes they are all welcome Re ( which one do you reckon? You can not talk in general.I am also using the ID Guest,so did the one who posted this message.Which one are you talking about.) well now you know how difficult it is when there is no id. i give you a clue the one who is insulting both Shiva and Krishna. are you? Om Namah Shivaya. Jai Shree Krishna
  11. Jai Ganesh This person in the guise of a guest is abusing the generosity of the forum, he is not here for debate or to learn but only to insult. Jai shree Krishna
  12. Jai Ganesh I am glad you have recognized there is a trouble maker among us. this person has no genuine inquery. Jai Shree Krishna
  13. Jai Ganesh Re (Canu tell me which god to worship to be a attractive person...a all attractive one that would be irresistable to women...for people who call me a pervert or anything..let me forewarn u..if i was a pervert then what do u call Lord Krishna as..sorry for being early in reply for that,i say so cause i asked someone this before and that is what they branded me..i hope mr ganeshprasad doesnt think that way.) You do not want to know what I think; your futile attempt to malign Lord Krishna does not wash with me, Do us all a favour and go away, only come back when you really want to learn but I guess that is not what you are here for. May that all attractive one favours you in due course of time Jai Shree Krishna
  14. Jai Ganesh Re ( How would you say a hindu should live? Practices etc... ?) Hinduism is a way of life, should practice what he preaches, based on four pillars of Dharma truthfulness purity, cleanliness and amhinsa follow the shastra, sadhus and gurus, this is our parampara not necessary an institute. Re (Should it all just be meditation on the one supreme lord? Whats your view? ) Yes the goal is one supreme Lord, but the paths are many, Lord Krishna speaks of various paths by which people approach him what to speak of Vedas Ref.: http://www.geocities.com/lamberdar/brahman.html Hinduism is a monotheistic religion with one God (Brahman) assuming many forms and names. Brahman, as Nirguna, has no attributes (is formless and unmanifested), whereas as Saguna (or Iswara) is manifested and with attributes. People use many different names for God. Consider for example the following hymns from Rig Veda. "They call him Indra, Mitra, Varuna, Agni, and he is heavenly nobly-winged Garutman. To what is One, sages give many a title they call it Agni, Yama, Matarisvan." RV (Book 1, Hymn 164.46) "He in his might surveyed the floods containing productive force and generating Worship. He is the God, and none beside him. What God shall we adore with our oblation?" RV (Book 10, Hymn 121.8) Thus various forms (names and perceptions) symbolizing Brahman reflect different visions according to many sages and seers. Note that, like any particular prophet, each sage advances his own concept of God which seems unique (in name and form / image) and may be classed as monomorphic (one view). This concept of divine -- monotheistic and monomorphic -- is usually accepted and followed by the adherents of that particular sage. This is just like any monotheistic religion after a certain prophet. But in Hinduism, this situation is further augmented due to accumulated visions of God from many sages -- each sage's vision being separately monotheistic and monomorphic -- resulting in monotheism with a polymorphic view where one God is perceived in many different ways. Note that this is not polytheism, because God is still one, even though He is portrayed differently according to different people (sages, etc.) and situations. Hinduism is also not henotheistic, where people believe in one god but are not concerned if he is the only god. Note that Brahman is one even though He has many names. For henotheism, there should exist a parallel (or competing) deity against Brahman but such is not the case. In addition, even the different Avtars (reincarnations) are not considered as independent of Iswara. Hinduism is not pantheistic either, since there is no direct identification of God with universe. Note, God and universe (belonging to the Absolute or Reality -- which also consists of souls) are considered as distinct from each other in Hindu religio-philosophy. Furthermore, polymorphically speaking, God may be worshipped, for example, by a farmer as Varuna (meaning the lord of water) and by a carpenter as Vishvakarma (meaning architect of the world). Since water -- potential boon from Varuna -- is important in agriculture for bringing good harvest etc., the farmer easily, conveniently and even inadvertently is drawn towards the deity known as Varuna. Meanwhile, the carpenter identifies himself professionally more closely with Vishvakarma (the Constructor). People thus have a tendency to assign and accept various functional or phenomenal labels for God, and perceive, worship, and meditate on Him accordingly. In spite of having different names, Brahman (God) still remains one and the Hinduism monotheistic. Note also that worshipping Varuna and Vishvakarma just amounts to worshipping God in two different aspects of water and construction, respectively. In reality, worship of either Varuna or Vishvakarma or both of them together still amounts to -- including the potential benefits -- the worship of one Brahman. The Real, possessing various attributes (i.e. God as Varuna or as Vishvakarma), should not be seen as accumulating them mathematically. Thus, one (as Varuna) + one (as Vishvakarma) is not to be construed as two, but still One (God). Depending on the basic attributes, God (Hari or Savior) is called Om -- the creator (Omniscient, Brahma, the chaturmukh); Tat -- the preserver / master (Omnipotent, Vishnu, the chaturbhuj); and Sat -- the destroyer (Rudra or Shiva -- good and righteous; RV: Book 5, Hymn 44.2). Furthermore, in the earthly regions, Iswara (and His power) may manifest as Agni; in the mid-air, as Indra; and in the heavens, as Savitar. Note that the personality or symbol used as a deity in meditation or worship is mainly for spiritual significance and to reflect the real power (God) behind it. Physical and material aspects of the symbol used in worship are less important. True bhakti (devotion) and the type (method) of worship depend on a person's nature and temperament. Moreover, even if the object of adoration remains the same, there may be several ways to approach it. In addition, Brahman as Nirguna (unmanifested) is simply believed in. The direct worship of Nirguna Brahman is not possible, because it is not known (as Nirguna) and therefore can not be worshipped. The believer therefore simply recognizes the entire creation as a reflection of God and acts accordingly (Gita: Ch 12). In the case of Saguna Brahman, there are two types of worship -- one is of a personal God as the Immanent, and the other by using symbols. In case of the Immanent, worship usually occurs in the form of pure meditation and at the spiritual level. On the other hand, when a worshipper views God as being external to him, then the worship is symbolic. Here, symbols (objects and deities etc.) used are generally prakrit (comprising of prakrti / nature and therefore involving three modes or gunas -- sattva, rajas, and tamas). Note that the worshipper in this case needs to be careful as to what exactly the object of adoration (such as the deity) and the method of worship (yajna etc.) stand for, because that will determine the outcome (fruits) of such worship. Object of meditation (worship) should be beyond or above the Law of Karma. It should not become part of the sansara (world) -- as a soul or the constituent matter -- and be not existing at times in the mode of darkness or ignorance (Tamas). Note that only Brahman is above and beyond Karma, is changeless, and meets these conditions (Gita: Ch. 5 - V. 29). On the other hand, if the meditation (worship) is intended towards a secondary figure (such as a guru or a deity) who is subject to the Law of Karma, the results from such effort will also be secondary (Gita: Ch. 9 - V. 25). The meditation (worship) symbols and methods should be therefore carefully selected. Note also that the religious offerings and gifts, though important, are voluntary and motivated by faith and love. Moreover, worships and rituals should not be performed miserly and with a desire for vainglory (RV: Book 7 - Hymn 32.9; Gita: Ch. 9 - V. 26, Ch. 16 - V. 17, Ch. 17 - V. 13). Jai Shree Krishna

  23. Jai Ganesh Thank you MadhavJI my Hardik Pranam on this day of Raksha bhandhan Have a look at this , my Swaminarayan neice sent me Raksha Bandhan Around mid-August, on Shravan Purnima, Hindus all over celebrate Raksha Bandhan. "Raksha" means protection, "bandhan" means bound or binding. The festival is also known as Balev. Scriptural Origin The Bhavishya Puran cites a story that the devas once battled with the danavas (demons) for twelve years. However, the devas lost, including the mighty Indra. So they prepared to fight again. On this occasion, Indrani tied a raksha on her consort Indra, after extolling Raksha Bandhan's glory. Indra then attained victory. During the battle of Mahabharat, Queen Kunti tied a raksha on her grandson Abhimanyu to protect him in battle. When the demon King Bali's devotion won over Lord Narayan, he was compelled to leave his abode, Vaikunth, to stay in Bali's kingdom in Sutal. When Lord Narayan failed to return, his distressed consort Lakshmi arrived in Sutal on Shravan Purnima. She accepted Bali as her brother by tying a raksha on him. In return, Bali asked her to wish for a boon. She requested Narayan's return. She grieved that despite having a consort she was experiencing premature widowhood in Narayan's absence. However, the Lord had pledged to eternally protect Bali, by guarding his door. To resolve his dilemma, Brahma and Shiva agreed to guard Bali for four months each, while Vishnu (Narayan) would guard him for the auspicious four months - Chaturmaas - beginning from Ashadh Sud Ekadashi and terminating on Kartik Sud Ekadashi, usually from Mid-July to Mid-November. The festival of Raksha Bandhan commenced when Lakshmiji tied the 'rakhadi' ('rakhee' in Hindi) on Bali Raja. Since Bali Raja offered devotion by sacrificing everything to the Lord, the day is also known as 'Bali-eva' or 'Baleva' for short. Therefore when Brahmin priests perform puja rituals, they chant a famous mantra while tying the 'nada chhadi' (raksha) on a devotee: Yena baddho Baliraja daanavendro Mahaabala, tena twaamabhi badh naami rakshe maa chala maa chala i.e. I tie on you (the devotee) the raksha which was tied on Bali, the King of demons. Therefore O Raksha! Do not ever fail to protect this devotee, do not ever fail. -Bhavishyottara Puran : 137/20 Rituals & Sentiments In ancient times a woman tied a 'raksha' on her husband's wrist to protect him from evil. Gradually this changed; she tied a 'raksha' on her brother's right wrist, to protect him from evil influence and those factors which may taint his character, and to strengthen the bond of sibling love between them. She visits her home and performs his 'pujan' by applying kumkum and rice grains on his forehead. In return the brother gives her a gift and vows to protect her too. The 'rakhadi' itself ranges from a coloured cotton string to exquisitely decorated balls of various sizes and materials such as fluffy cotton, 'zari' paper, tinsel, beads and so on. A second sentiment relates to 'Baleva' and our devotion to the Lord. Just as Bali Raja offered devotion to Lord Narayan by sacrificing his kingdom and himself, devotees should endeavor to emulate him. That is the true spirit of Baleva. The Guru also ties a 'rakhadi' on his disciples. In the Swaminarayan Sampradaya, Pramukh Swami Maharaj and the sadhus tie 'rakhadis' on devotees on this day. The underlying sentiment is that the Ekantik Dharma of the devotees be protected. On 18/8/87, Pramukh Swami Maharaj defined Raksha Bandhan as, The Raksha Bandhan is our surrenderance to God and the Satpurush. Even if the body is not immortalized by such a Raksha Bandhan, the soul is, in that it is freed from metempsychosis - the cycles of birth and death. We also do not falter from Satsang. Devotees should forever beg for such a Raksha Bandhan. Therefore on this day devotees pray to the Lord and Guru for ultimate protection; to be delivered from 'kusang' - evil elements, from the bondage of samsara and to be eternally bound, hence true 'bandhan' - to You and none others. Adorning Yagnopavit On this day, Yajurvedi and Rigvedi Brahmins and those who normally wear 'yagnopavit' (janoi) also adorn new 'janois'.
  24. Jai Ganesh Auspicious day of Raksha bhandhan which is on Friday It is also appearance day of Lord BalaRam Sisters tie Rakhdi on Brothers and pray for their long life, in turn the brothers promise to protect their sisters. It Goes some thing like this, Balbandhu,BalRaja Rakshe rakse yamraja transoNe Sath(360days)DivasNi Avarda. Jai Shree Krishna
  25. Jai Ganesh Pranam Thiru Ji Re (there are several threads in this forum which discusses the Shiv/Vishnu superimacy...iam tired of all these now...) Please dont give up, your frustration i do understand, we have to learn to overcome this superiority complex, which exists within many factions in our vedic dharma, little do we know that without subduing the ego no one can reach the lord.Everthing happens for the best and nothing moves without the will of the lord. Jai Shree Krishna OM NAMASHIVAYA
