"Vyasa said, 'Thou hast, O Arjuna, seen Sankara, that First cause from which have sprung the Prajapatis, that puissant Being endued with great energy, he that is the embodiment of heaven, earth and sky, the Divine Lord, the protector of the universe, the great Master, the giver of boons, called also Isana. O, seek the protection of that boon, giving Deity, that lord of the universe. He is called Mahadeva (the Supreme Deity), of Supreme Soul, the one only Lord, with matted locks (on head), the abode of auspiciousness. Of three eyes and mighty arms, he is called Rudra, with his locks tied in the shape of a crown, and his body attired in skins. That boon-giving lord of the universe, that Supreme Deity, is also called Hara and Sthanu. He is the foremost of every being in the universe, he is incapable of being vanquished, he is the delighter of the universe and its supreme ruler. The first cause, the light and refuge of the universe, he is ever victorious. The Soul and the creator of the universe, and having the universe for his form, he is possessed of great fame. The Lord of the universe, and its great Ruler, that puissant one, is also the master of all actions. Called also Sambhu, he is self-born, he is the lord of all creatures, p. 485 Siva From other sources What is the difference between the soul and the mind? The soul is the consciousness or the knowing principle in man. The mind belongs to the category of matter. Siva is the soul and Parvati is the mind. The consciousness is the Reality, the unchanging, unmoving, all pervading soul. Mind being matter is changeable and unreal. We perceive objects through the organs of sense perception. The soul enables the organs to perceive the objects. The soul exists in all living beings as consciousness. It is the light of the soul that makes the sense-organs and the mind appear alive and luminous. Siva is the unchanging consciousness – Nirguna or without form or shape. This unchanging consciousness-Siva – becomes saguna or with form, when Maya Shakti, which is Siva’s illusive power appears as mind and matter. This phenomenon is known as Ardhanarishwar. (See Page ‘Ardhanarishwar’ in the column on the left.) Siva’s Maya-Shakti is known by various names such as Uma, Parvati, Kali, Durga etc. This Maya-Shakti or power inheres in Siva just as the burning power inheres in fire, sweetness in sugar, whiteness in milk and meaning in the words. Siva stands for the Absolute, the unchanging, static background, of which Kali, the Shakti (power) is the dynamic expression. We call this Shakti or power Mother or Goddess. Goddess Kali combines in herself creative dynamism, destructive terror and redemptive grace. God’s power that is enveloped by Tamo-guna-pradhana is Lord Siva. Siva’s trishul or trident (the three pointed javelin like weapon) represents the three gunas –Sattwa,Rajas and Tamas. The Trishul is the emblem of sovereignity. Lord Siva wields the world through these three gunas, which is the composition of Maya-Shakti or mind and matter. In other words, if one were able to analyse the composition of Maya-Shakti, it will be found to be made of the combination of the three Gunas (Sattwa-Rajas-Tamas). Siva is Trilochana, the three- eyed one, in the centre of whose forehead is the third eye, the eye of wisdom (gnana-chakshu). The burning power of the wisdom of the third eye destroys desires for worldly objects. Sensual desire and lust is represented by Kamadev, the god of love (Eros or Cupid). When a person reaches a state of perfect renunciation- he is said to have burnt all his desires. Siva’s third eye burnt to ashes Kamadev- the god of love. The eye of wisdom leads to transcendental vision of the Supreme Reality. We recite regularly the following Maha Mrityunjay Mantra from the Sukla Yajurveda Samhita III. 60. Om Trayambakam Yajaamahe Suganghim Pushtivardhanam, Urvaarukmiva Bandhanaan Mrityor Mokshiya Mamritaat [The meaning of the Mantra is as follows:] I worship thee, O sweet Lord of transcendental vision (the three -eyed one or Lord Siva). O giver of prosperity to all, may I be free from the bonds of death, even as a melon (or cucumber) is severed from its bondage or attachment to the creeper. The word Siva signifies the auspicious. The good Lord Siva roots out sin and terror, and is the bestower of earthly happiness, promoter of good and auspiciousness. Siva is also called Samkara which means doer of good. Siva takes one beyond the three bodies (Tripura), gross, subtle and causal that envelope the Jiva or the embodied soul. He is hence the Hara or the remover of all evil and the ideal of renunciation. Therefore we hail ‘Hara hara Mahadeva.’ In the Rigveda (x,121,4) it is written: Yasya ime himavanto mahitva. That the snow capped Himalayas appear as if they are meditating (dhyayativa), and they are the concrete symbol of the glory of the Supreme. Hence it is no wonder that most of its attributes are transferred to Siva. Kailash (mountain) in the Himalayas is the abode of Lord Siva. The snowy Himalayas are white and Siva’s body is also white – Gauranga (gauri = light complexioned). Karpura gaura = camphor hued white. Siva’s body is smeared with bhasma or ashes to indicate renunciation, whitenes and purity. Amazing! Lord Siva is present in the Kailas mountain. The most sacred symbol in Hinduism AUM imprinted with snow and ice on the face of the mountain by nature. Lord Narayana and Lord Shiva or not different. Both are one and the same. To make us realize this, Sri Venkateswara’s murti has markings of Cobra on the body and head, Bhujanga Valayam, the girdle of the serpent on the arms. The worship of Him with Bilva leaves during Dhanurmasam as prescribed by Adi Sankaracharya strongly proves that HE is none but Lord Shiva too. HE is also Shakti Rupa, because HE has Simhalalatam in the image, which is the common symbolic in Shakti images. Narayani is one of the names of Shakti. HE manifests HIMSELF to the particular form in which the devotees choose to offer Archa, Meditation. HE is the Ambrosia of Vedas. The Upanishads recognize only one Spirit - Almighty, Infinite, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Attributeless, Formless, Eternal, Incomprehensible, Self-Existent, the Creator, the Preserver and the Destroyer of the of the Universe. HE is 'Ananta Rupa' means having multiple images and is also 'Satchidanada Rupa' means image of Existence, Consiousness and Bliss (A mix of Sat, Chit and Ananda).
  2. Brahman is the "ULTIMATE TURTH". There is nothing beyond him. He goes by thousands of names and takes thousands of forms and yet he is the personal and impersonal. Krishna is one of his incarnation to save the planet of evil. So if you say Krishna than so be it but remember Krishna is also one of the forms of the Ultimate God Brahman. Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva are all his forms and to deny such would show lack of understanding of the whole concept of the Vedic Scriptures.
  3. Manifestations of the Unmanifest Supreme Brahmam Often a question arises in our mind that, if the Vedas teach us of One God, why do we have several images as different "Gods". Are they one and the same? Do these `gods' just represent people who once lived on this earth in ancient times, very much like us amongst our ancestors and are raised to a high position for prayers? The earliest verses of Rig Veda, later Vedantha theories of Vyasa Maharishi and Sankara's Advitha Philosophy teach us of One God as Paramathma who is unmanifest and all the Jeevathma or Souls of all created beings including humans, animals and plants and all inanimate objects of universe. They are considered as part of this Universal soul of Paramathma or the unmanifest Divine in His manifest form. The concept of Avathara is explained in all the Agamas, Ithihasas and Puranas. As the religious Dharma is practiced over the years, some amount of lust and greed occurs among the people with the decline of wisdom and peace, and injustice prevails over righteousness. This is the time, when God, as Creator and Preserver, wishing to ensure the continuance of this Universe, incarnate Himself in various forms through his Yogamaya. Some of the other theories like those of Dwaitha, Panchrathra Agama and the followers of Vaishnava Sampradhaya believe that Paramathma is never Nirguna or unmanifest. He is actually manifest but not comprehensible. Sri Vasudeva or Narayana is the Savisesha Brahmam or Iswara who takes the various forms to be understandable for our prayers. Similarly, Saivas according to their Agamas, believe Siva as the Supreme God, as Nirguna Siva in the form of Sat-Chit-Ananda. He created the Universe and is the cause and effect of all beings with all His grace, force and energy. Sakthas worship Sakthi as the Supreme Deity, as the Mother of the universe, who created the world and all the forms of Gods for our worship. They consider Sakthi as the dynamic force of Brahmam and the Creative energy or Force behind Siva in His manifestations. Smarthas perform Vedic rituals to 'Devas'and perform prayers to Siva, Sakthi and Vishnu and to their various manifestations as "Ishtadevatha" at home. The concept of Avathara is explained in all the Agamas, Ithihasas and Puranas. Avathara or Divine Manifestation is the descent of God on earth for the ascent of man, with the establishment of rule and spiritual discipline. The Bhagavathas followed Panchrathra Agamas, with prayers to God as Vasudeva. It greatly emphasized the doctrine of Avathara and popularized the immortal texts of Harivamsa, Vishnu Purana and Bhagavatha Purana. They were based on God's Grace to erring humanity. Similarly, Saiva Agamas and Sakthi Agamas gave rise to the several Puranas and the many manifestations of God. Worship of Deities in these Avatharas and studying their texts helps to get high spiritual attainment and God-realization. Swami Sivananda says: "Worship the Avatharas at all times with all your heart and all your mind. Glorify Him in your heart and keep Him ever in your Thoughts. He will soon reveal Himself to you and you will feel His presence. This will lead on to attaining immortality and eternal bliss." http://www.bnaiyer.com/studies/d-avathara.html
  4. Sandhya are the most important rituals that a Hindu is expected to perform in the house every day, three times a day. These are rituals performed at dawn, noon and at dusk to God, to the Sun and to ancestors. Yajna rituals are offered to Vedic Gods such as Prajapathi, Indra, Varuna, Purusha, Rudra and the Deities of the nine planets. The Vedic gods are the custodians of our social well being and only from our sacrificial oblations in Yagnas they draw their sustenance. The Pancha-Maha Yajnas which are important include Brahma Yajna or sacrifices to Brahman, to Vedas and to sages, Deva Yajna to celestials, Pitri Yajna for ancestors, Bhutha Yajna to all creatures and Manushya Yajna to fellow men. There are fifty-two Sanskaras which are listed as rituals performed at home, of which ten are important. These Sanskara rituals like Simanthonnayana, Namakarana, Annaprasana, Chudakarana, Upanayana, Samvarthana and Vivaha, are for family events. There are also funerary rituals which are performed after death of a person and srardha ceremonies which are rituals to ancestors performed by family members.
  5. Your are ignorant but that does not mean others too are. May be the path you took forbids you to attain SR but not mine. If you believe nothing can be acheived than that's what you get. A big "NOTHING" is all you have in mind. But fear not which ever way slowly but surely you will realize the real truth about MAN and his mission on earth. We have to be cautious in recognising where we stand at any given moment of time. And the Gita makes it clear that, according to it, Yoga is the establishment of harmony in all the levels of being. There is nothing superior or inferior in this world. Everything that God has created has a value in its own level, or stage. And the level in which we are now is also equally valuable, and its value base to be recognised by us; we cannot reject it as if it is not there. Our action, our conduct, our movement, our behaviour in the particular atmosphere in which we are placed has to be one of harmony with that atmosphere. This is Yoga and the need to understand the way in which we can conduct ourselves in harmony with the atmosphere is stringent. And what is this action which has to be performed in such a manner that it is in harmony with the movement of things outside in the given atmosphere? When the harmony is established between ourselves and the environment outside, our actions cease to be actions, they become movements of Cosmic Power. Action, then, becomes non-action; one can see action in non-action and non-action in action. Our intelligence has to rise to that level where we should be able to recognise inaction in action and action in inaction. When our action is set in tune with the movements of things outside, action becomes non-action. It is as if we are doing nothing, because we are moving in harmony with the whole pattern of the environment outside, with which we are connected, and of which we are a part, organically. When we are in union with the laws of the universe, our actions are not our actions. They are laws operating in themselves in an impersonal manner.
  6. more about the power of kundalini. I have no desire to debate with you as you do not seem to have any knowledge of self realization.
  7. GOD is neither she nor he. God is the unseen power that controls the existence of this universe. Many wise men have called it by names describing it in many ways that come to their thought. Christianity is one of the path to the kingdom of God but not the only one. Islam is another path similar to Christianity and Judaism but is not the only path. Judaism is another path but is not the only one. Hinduism is the only religion that contains several path to God's kingdom. It does not compel you to follow a particular path but advice you to stick to the Vedas which helps a Hindu to attain self realization. I'm not against Jesus who I believe was a reformist with a gift from God. Anyone can attain the powers Jesus had possessed. Even to this day there are men who are called shadus in India who could walk on water, cure the blind, walk through fire and even bring back the dead if the will of God is there. You have chosen a path and my advice to you is be true to it instead of belittling or making fun of other's faith. You believe is Jesus because the bible says so and so are the others who believe in their religion because their scriptures say so. It is all faith that keeps man on the ground. Go in peace and leave us alone as we know who God is and how to attain it's grace.
  8. If you are a Hindu you have to be firm in you committment. If you are a man it is your duty to marry the person according to Hindu rites if that is you are a firm believer of Hinduism. I know many claim to be Hindus but do not folow according to sastras. On the other hand if you are a woman you need your parents blessings ortherwise you marriage would fail. Anyway it's better to consult your elders on this matter. Of late many westerners are marrying Hindu girls according to Hindu rites and I personaly had wittnessed two such wedding in my home town. So think twice before you make you r decision.
  9. Hinduism and Sri Ramakrishna By Swami Vivekananda (Translated from Bengali).` The foremost disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa By the word ‘Shastras’ (scriptures) the Vedas without beginning or end are meant. In matters of religious duty the Vedas are the only capable authority. The Puranas and other religious scriptures are all denoted by the word ‘Smriti’. And their authority goes so far as they follow the Vedas and do not contradict them. Truth is of two kinds: (1) that which is cognisable by the five ordinary senses of man, and by reasonings based thereon; (2) that which is cognisable by the subtle, super-sensuous power of Yoga. Knowledge acquired by the first means is called science; and knowledge acquired by the second is called the Vedas. The whole body of super sensuous truths, having no beginning or end, and called by the name of Vedas, is ever existent. The Creator Himself is creating, preserving and destroying the universe with the help of these truths. The person in whom this super-sensuous power is manifested is called a Rishi, and the super-sensuous truths, which he realises by this power, are called the Vedas. This Rishihood, this power of super-sensuous perception of the Vedas, is real religion. And so long as this does not develop in the life of an initiate, so long is religion a mere empty word to him, and it is to be understood that he has not taken yet the first step in religion. The authority of the Vedas extends to all ages, climes and persons; that is to say, their application is not confined to any particular place, time and persons. The Vedas are the only exponent of the universal religion. Although the super sensuous vision of truths is to be met with in some measure in our Puranas and Itihasas (history) and in the religious scriptures of other races, still the fourfold scripture known among the Aryan race as the Vedas being the first, the most complete, and the most undistorted collection of spiritual truths, deserve to occupy the highest place among all scriptures, command the respect of all nations of the earth, and furnish the rationale of all their respective scriptures. With regard to the whole Vedic collection of truths discovered by the Aryan race, this also has to be understood that those portions alone which do not refer to purely secular matters and which do not merely record tradition or history, or merely provide incentives to duty, form the Vedas in the real sense. The Vedas are divided into two portions, the Jnana-Kanda (knowledge portion) and the Karma-kanda (ritual portion). The ceremonies and the fruits of the Karma-kanda are confined within the limits of the world of Maya, and therefore they have been undergoing and will undergo transformation according to the law of change, which operates through time, space, and personality. Social laws and customs likewise, being based on this Karma-kanda, have been changing and will continue to change hereafter. Minor social usages also will be recognised and accepted when they are compatible with the spirit of the true scriptures and the conduct and example of holy sages. But blind allegiance only to usages such as are repugnant to the spirit of the Shastras and the conduct of holy sages has been one of the main causes of the downfall of the Aryan race. It is the Jnana-kanda or the Vedanta only that has for all time commanded recognition for leading men across Maya (the deluding potency of the Lord) and bestowing salvation on them through the practice of Yoga, Bhakti (devotion), Jnana (knowledge), or selfless work; and as its validity and authority remain unaffected by any limitations of time, place or persons, it is the only exponent of the universal and eternal religion for all mankind. The Samhitas of Manu and other sages, following the lines laid down in the Karma-kanda, have mainly ordained rules of conduct conducive to social welfare, according to the exigencies of time, place, and persons. The Puranas etc., have taken up the truths imbedded in the Vedanta and have explained them in detail in the course of describing the exalted life and deeds of Avataras and others. They have each emphasised, besides, some out of the infinite aspects of the Divine Lord to teach men about them. But when by the process of time, fallen from the true ideals and rules of conduct and devoid of the spirit of renunciation, addicted only to blind usages, and degraded in intellect, the descendants of the Aryans failed to appreciate even the spirit of these Puranas etc., which taught men of ordinary intelligence the abstruse truths of the Vedanta in concrete form and diffuse language and appeared antagonistic to one another on the surface, because of each inculcating with special emphasis only particular aspects of the spiritual ideal. And when, as a consequence, they reduced India, the fair land of religion, to a scene of almost infernal confusion by breaking up piecemeal the one Eternal Religion of the Vedas (Sanatana Dharma), the grand synthesis of all the aspects of the spiritual ideal, into conflicting sects and by seeking to sacrifice one another in the flames of sectarian hatred and intolerance. Then it was that Sri Bhagavan Ramakrishna incarnated himself in India, to demonstrate what the true religion of the Aryan race is; to show where amidst all its many divisions and offshoots, scattered over the land in the course of its immemorial history, lies the true unity of the Hindu religion, which by its overwhelming number of sects discordant to superficial view, quarrelling constantly with each other and abounding in customs divergent in every way, has continued itself a misleading enigma for our countrymen and the butt of contempt for foreigners; and above all, to hold up before men, for their lasting welfare, as a living embodiment of the Sanatan Dharma, his own wonderful life into which he infused the universal spirit, and character of this Dharma, so long cast into oblivion by the process of time. In order to show how the Vedic truths- eternally existent as the instrument with the Creator in His work of creation, preservation, and dissolution- reveal themselves spontaneously in the minds of the Rishis purified from all impressions of worldly attachment, and because such verification and confirmation of the scriptural truths will help the revival, reinstatement, and spread of religion- the Lord, though the very embodiment of the Vedas, in this His new incarnation has thoroughly discarded all external forms of learning. That the Lord incarnated again and again in human form for the protection of the Vedas or the true religion, and of Brahminhood or the ministry of that religion- is a doctrine well established in the Puranas etc. The waters of the river falling in a cataract acquire greater velocity, the rising wave after a hollow swells higher; so after every spell of decline, the Aryan society recovering from all the evils by the merciful dispensation of Providence has risen the more glorious and powerful- such is the testimony of history. After rising from every fall, our revived society is expressing more and more its innate eternal perfection, and so also the omnipresent Lord in each successive incarnation is manifesting Himself more and more. Again and again has our country fallen into a swoon, as it were, and again and again has India’s Lord, by the manifestation of Himself, revivified her. But greater than the present deep dismal night, now almost over, no pall of darkness had ever before enveloped this holy land of ours. And compared with the depth of this fall, all previous falls appear like little hoof-marks. Therefore, before the effulgence of this new awakening, the glory of all past revivals in her history will pale like stars before the rising sun; and compared with this mighty manifestation of renewed strength, all the many past epochs of such restoration will be as child’s play. The various constituent ideals of the Religion Eternal, during its present state of decline, have been lying scattered here and there for want of competent men to realise them- some being preserved partially among small sects and some completely lost. But strong in the strength of this new spiritual renaissance, men, after reorganising these scattered and disconnected spiritual ideals, will be able to comprehend and practise them in their own lives and also to recover from oblivion those that are lost. And as the sure pledge of this glorious future, the all-merciful Lord has manifested in the present age, as stated above, an incarnation which in point of completeness in revelation, its synthetic harmonising of all ideals, and its promoting of every sphere of spiritual culture, surpasses the manifestations of all past ages. So at the very dawn of this momentous epoch, the reconciliation of all aspects and ideals of religious thought and worship is being proclaimed; this boundless, all-embracing idea had been lying inherent, but so long concealed, in the Religion Eternal and its scriptures, and now rediscovered, it is being declared to humanity in a trumpet voice. This epochal new dispensation is the harbinger of great good to the whole world, specially to India; and the inspirer of this dispensation, Sri Bhagavan Ramakrishna, is the reformed and remodelled manifestation of all the past great epoch-makers in religion. O man, have faith in this, and lay it to heart. The dead never return; the past night does not reappear; the spent-up tidal wave does not rise anew; neither does man inhabit the same body over again. So from the worship of the dead past, O man, we invite you to the worship of the living present; from the regretful brooding over bygones, we invite you to the activities of the present; from the waste of energy in retracing lost and demolished pathways, we call you back to broad new-laid highways lying very near. He that is wise, let him understand. Of that power, which at the very first impulse has roused distant echoes from all the four quarters of the globe, conceive in your mind the manifestation in its fullness; and discarding all idle misgivings, weaknesses, and the jealousies characteristic of enslaved peoples, come and help in the turning of this mighty wheel of new dispensation! With the conviction firmly rooted in your heart that you are the servants of the Lord, His children, helpers in the fulfilment of His purpose, enter the arena of work.
  10. Yes, that is who you are. Just a child who wants to know and undestand his parent. You are the seed of your father and he could make you superior to him provided you learn to respect him and not question his motives. Just because he can make you superior to him does not mean he would become powerless but all the more he would become more powerfull. That is because he is stil your father. Only upon his demise that you would be crowned as the head of the household. But that is in body and not in spirit. Whereas God has no beginning or ending coz he is the Alpha and Omega. If he cease to exist you too would not exist. So stop arguing and listen to your Guru and follow his teachings.
  11. Get your facts before you start your project on the subject. May be you got wrong information from half breed Hindus. If you are curious why Ganesha is with a elephant head the purana says that once goddess Parvati, while bathing, created a boy out of the dirt of her body and assigned him the task of guarding the entrance to her bathroom. When Shiva, her husband returned, he was surprised to find a stranger denying him access, and struck off the boy's head in rage. Parvati broke down in utter grief and to soothe her, Shiva sent out his squad (gana) to fetch the head of any sleeping being who was facing the north. The company found a sleeping elephant and brought back its severed head, which was then attached to the body of the boy. Shiva restored its life and made him the leader (pati) of his troops. Hence his name 'Ganapati'. Shiva also bestowed a boon that people would worship him and invoke his name before undertaking any venture. If you are curious about the diety we call Hanuman who is in the form of monkey please read the Ramayana and you will understand who that diety is in reality. We do not take Hanuman as God but remember that God dwells in all living being as so we Hindus respect all forms of animals as there are animals such as the lion, tiger, rat and snake being used as vehicle for God in different aspects and manifestation. Hinduism is unique in the sense that it teaches us to respect all living beings irrespective of status as God dwells in all live form. HE is omnipresent and omnipotent who is here and there and every where so learn more about Hinduism before you touch on the subject
  12. This is not Hinduism but CINEMAISM. So go tell your friends to worship JAYALALITHA & KARUNANITHI
  13. HUMAN EDGE Religion has been defined as a particular system of belief in the Supreme Being whom we call God by various names and in languages that befit each culture and race. From the day man realized that there is a power above us, which controls this universe that was the day religion born. Today some eighty five percent of the world population believes in the doctrine of divine establishments. But the competition of establishing whose is the true faith has led man to the extent of killing each other to impose his belief on those who oppose. We are made to believe that prophets and messengers were chosen by the Supreme Being to transmit messages to mankind so that people would lead a righteous life, which would assure us a place in heaven hereafter. In so much so, some of these establishments emphasize more on the life hereafter than what needs to be done here and now. We are not blind that we cannot see what is happening to us and around the world. Some of us do not even worry about the happenings around our own neighbourhood, but instead we only preach to others about religious obligations. We only read and memorize whatever is written in the divine scriptures of our religion, but fail to practice or even understand what they actually meant. There are some overzealous defenders of some religion who would go to the extend of taking the life of others for the sake of imposing their belief and there are those who believe that speaking or converging with those of different faith is a sin. Why is there such indifferences among these followers is not a mystery. I believe those in authority of their religion have either misinterpreted their doctrines or misguided their followers for selfish reasons. Prophets and divine persons do not see any difference in the their approach except that some of them may have immersed themselves too deep in their faith and the life hereafter that they failed to see the sensitivity of people at large, which is why we are always at war. We are neither the first nor the last of our species. We are the link from the past the present and the future and if we do not want to destroy what we have built this far, than we ought to change our mindset to live and let live so that the future will be a better place for all living beings. The action of the past is the product of today and ours will determine the future as to how our species will survive. We are so engrossed in each other’s faith and believe, that we fail to see the real issue here. God did not create this universe to be destroyed by his own creation but to preserve it for the future generation, which we would not be here to see. Our action would determine the future destination of mankind on earth. For centuries mankind has seen wars of religion, wars of territories and wars of terrorism, which result is indeterminable devastation of tranquillity to the living species of this planet. We can see the adverse effect that is causing this world to slowly escalate into a world of terror where none is safe to dwell. There are, I believe persons of divine quality in the present world who are emphasizing on unity in diversity of mankind and the wonders it will bring, but some religions do not see the wisdom in them. The followers of these religions are not to be blamed but the institution they belong to, which only cares for their own breed of people and not the whole of mankind. Did God divide the human race into divisions, of course not but than why are we divided? This, we will have to look into the anthropology of the human race. In evolution the human race moved out from a single area of the globe to other parts of the world to seek better environment for survival and that caused the changes in pigmentation of skin colour, mannerism, behavioural pattern, development of language and consumption of food intake. Apart from this nothing else has changed. A human is a human no matter what language, race, colour or creed he belongs to. The worst thing could happen to mankind is religion, which had divided man apart from each other. All this could have been due to misinterpretations and misguided doctrines of the so-called messengers of God who could not have foreseen the problems they had created for the future world. During their era it was easy to contain, as the population was small and illiteracy was high where the messengers although would have encountered some resistance due to change in the method of approach but eventually were able to convert them by way of force, war and control of territory. Today the human race is well informed and due to the developing capacity of reasoning power of the human brain, men have emerged in finding the truth according to ones own understanding of the Supreme Being. To save the world from self-destruction, all institution of divine doctrines should collectively agree to speak as one mind to convince the human race that the Supreme Being is one and is called by many names, and is approached in ways that one finds comfort and peace at heart. Only than can mankind live in peace with each other without hurting or mocking one’s faith. Before any worst could happen I feel this would be the best approach towards peace on earth. May the human race live as one nation and help to carve a better future for the generation to come so that this planet would be a better place for all living entity. Barney. 2nd. January. 2003
  14. Hindu religion is not separate from living. It is living itself. God does not exist in temples and sacred places only. Going to the temples is a good practice, but that is not the only way to worship God. God does not exist in temples alone, in some particular altar or sacred place. God exists every where and can be approached in many ways, not just by performing some special yagnas and rituals, but also through the very process of living ones life and discharging ones responsibility towards oneself, ones family, ones society and ones own religion. Even helping other religions is not an abominable act. The very life that we live on earth is divine. Every aspect of it is infused with Divine presence. Hidden behind the illusion of life is God's golden and immortal presence. If we are clever enough and careful enough in our thoughts and deeds, we can see God's presence every where, in our lives and actions. We can realize Him right amidst our active living process. If we are careful, if we are intelligent, if we have the right discrimination, we can make the very process of living a kind of daily worship, a means to establish contact with the Divine, a way to purify ourselves and ennoble ourselves, and create, in this very life, amidst this very society, a strong foundation, a lasting basis, for our spiritual growth that would eventually lead us towards self-realization. The Hindu way of life encourages us to accept living as a means of self-realization. Every activity that we perform while living and every aspect of life that we know and deal with becomes means to realize God. In this approach there is very little difference between living and worshipping. Life is but divine and sacred. The Divine does not exist elsewhere in some heavenly regions, separate and distinct from ours. He is right here, amidst us, at the centers of our very lives and activities. Every act that we perform in this life will either contribute towards our evolution or inhibit it. Life is verily an opportunity to receive into our selves, the Divine force, the illuminating and enlightening awareness of God, the overwhelming and all encompassing soul consciousness. Life is an opportunity to discover our hidden selves. It is a great way to go beyond our limited vision and limited capacities. It is the best possible instrument with in our reach to realize Truth of ourselves and of God in the truest and grandest possible manner. Performing ones duties with a sense of detachment and as an offering to God, or worshipping God in a temple or during a ritual, are conceptually one and the same. Self-realization can be achieved not only by renouncing the world and performing tapas, but living amidst society, with a sense of detachment, untouched by the corruptions of life, like a lotus leaf in a pond. If we live with a divine sense of responsibility, every act that we perform in the course of our lives can lead us into the mysteries of divine life and into highest transcendental state of light and delight. Every Hindu artist, who has been brought in the true traditions of Hinduism, knows this secret. For him his art is simply an inseparable form of divine worship. For him it is the best and the easiest way to be in touch with the heart of God. His devotion to God flows out of him in the form of an artistic expression. His art flourishes to the extent he is devoted to God. It is the same conviction, the same philosophy, the same approach, which prompts a karmayogi to perform his duties with a degree of detachment that is rare to come across elsewhere in the world. The present life is but a continuation of the previous. It is another opportunity that we create for ourselves to continue our experiments with truth, to correct our past mistakes, cleanse our souls and make ourselves more qualified for the infusion of light and ascent into higher planes of existence. The present is so because of the deeds of the past. We are the creators of our own lives and destinies. We create them out of our right and wrong actions which have both positive and negative consequences. So if one has to change the conditions and secure a better future one has to live more responsibly and more carefully. And this has to be done right now, here and in this very life. This is the philosophy, the line of thinking, behind the concept of Hinduism as a way of life. The concepts of the omnipresence of God and his inviolable law of life (dharma) operating universally keeps the typical Hindu careful in his actions and responsible towards his own life. For the typical Hindu religion is thus a way of life, a means of self-purification and inner evolution.
  15. Yes, as I have said above intermarrige has its advantages and disadvantages but that would be the problem of the involed party to solve. Even marriage in the same community does not fair well. Dowry becomes the main issue and in these days for a man to accept the proposal many questions are put forth such as the status of the gril, her eduction, how much can the father in law could give as dowry and many other petty issues which could be avoided. Hinduism s not to be blamed for such behaviour of low mentality human beings. It is the duty of every Hindu to teach the good moral in Hinduism and allow the followers to think rationaly. What was applied in the vedic period cannot be applied in all situation in today's world. Changes must be made to accomadate present state of time otherwise Hinduism would lose out to other faiths. Moderation is the key to spread Hinduism beyond the shores of India. Westerners love for Hinduism is the influence of Adviata Vedatham and Swami Vivekananda's influence in the west. So, we as Hindus, it is our duty to practice moderation instead of being authoritarians in order stop Hindus from becoming non Hindus.
  16. As far as I know Peacock is the vehicle of Lord Murugan but what is it doing above Vishnu? If it is Vishnu than Seshanag should be placed above. Anyway anyone looking from below could never be sure if the statue is Vishnu or Murugan or may be any other icon like Shiva. Why was the photo shot from below and not direct? Any particular reason?
  17. The is only two caste and two classes of Hindus. The male caste and the female caste and the rich class and the poor class. There is no other caste of class of Hindus. Those who believe in other form of caste are stupid ignorant Hindus.
  18. Do not judge a book by its cover. Is reasonable being discriminate about caste? Here we are trying to do away with caste yet there are some of them trying to segregate the Hindus by caste. First find the defination for Brahmin and then come back to me. In this 21st century a labourer's son has become a doctor, an engineer, admistrator, a temple gurukal and infact in my country one was a Havard graduate who became a health minister. So, where is your caste consciousness if you think it must prevail. Do you think children from the sudras should be deprived of proprer education? Is that what Hinduism teaches you and Maadhav? You must be kidding...
  19. #now, no part can live without the other three, still head has more importance than armass, arms are more important than belly, and belly is more important than legs". You forgot that legs are more important than all the other parts, as without it you cannot move an inch accept to crawl in your butt. maadhavji, come back to the ground instead of foating in the air. #shudras do labor mostly. and no one likes to do labor. this class is the least intelligent. the only thing they can do is labor/service. becaue of that shudras are usually poor. but in an ideal vedic society, they are taken care of#. This is total suppression of the backward people by the upper class morons including ignorant brahmins who misquote the scriptures to the illetrate backward people so the they can keep them at bay and make them do all the labour work which the lazy zamidars and rich would not. Working in the fields has nothing to do with gunas. If a sudra is more compassion and loving towards God and his creatures around him then he is a better human being then the snobbish brahmins. What are you trying to spread here maadhavji? Unnity among Hindus or segragation? I wonder who your guru is?
  20. If you are a Hindu than you must believe in destiny and karma. But I don't think you understand that do you? So, commenting to your reply will be a waste of time.
  21. Just before the beginning of the current age in which we are living (known in the East as the Kali or Iron age), the sage Markandeya recorded a conversation he had with God Vishnu (the embodiment of the preserver aspect of the trinity). In a passage in the Mahabharata text, it is recorded that Vishnu spoke of a time during the darkest period of the Kali Age when human values would deteriorate, violence and injustice would be widespread, falsehood would triumph over truth, oppression and crime would be prevalent. Vishnu told how he would take a human birth in order to intervene and set the world on a new course. Here is the text of that statement. "When evil is rampant upon this earth, I will take birth in the family of a virtuous man, and assume a human body to restore tranquility by the extermination of all evils. For the preservation of rectitude and morality, I will assume an inconceivable human form when the season for action comes. In the Kali Age of sin I will assume an Avatar form that is dark in color. I will be born in a family in south India. This Avatar will possess great energy, great intelligence and great powers. Material objects needed for this Avatar's mission will be at his disposal as soon as He will think of them. He will be victorious with the strength of virtue. He will restore order and peace in the world. This Avatar will inaugurate a new era of truth, and will be surrounded by spiritual people. He will roam over the earth adored by the spiritual people. The people of the earth will imitate this Avatar's conduct, and there will be prosperity and peace. Men will once more betake themselves to the practice of religious rites. Educational centers for the cultivation of Brahmic lore, and temples, will reappear again everywhere. Ashrams will be filled with men of truth. Rulers of the earth will govern their kingdoms virtuously. The Avatar will have an illustrious reputation". No one can understand my Mystery. The best you can do is to get immersed in it. It is no use your arguing about pros and cons; dive and know the depth; eat and know the taste. You must dive deep into the sea to get the pearls. What good is it to dabble among the waves near the shore, and swear that the sea has no pearls in it and that all tales about them are false? So also if you must realise the full fruit of this Avathar, dive deep and get immersed in Sai Baba. Half-heartedness, hesitation, doubt, cynicism, listening to tales, all are of no avail. Concentrated complete faith - that alone can bring victory. In truth you cannot understand the nature of My Reality, either today, or even after a thousand years of steady austerity or ardent inquiry, even if all mankind joins in that effort. But, in a short time, you will become cognizant of the Bliss showered by the Divine Principle which has taken upon itself this sacred body and this sacred Name. Your good fortune, which will provide you this chance, is greater than that which was available for anchorites, monks, sages, saints, and even personalities embodying facets of Divine Glory. Do not allow doubt to distract you; if only you will install in the altar of your heart steady faith in My Divinity, you can win a vision of My Reality. I have come to give you the key to the treasure of ananda, or bliss, to teach you how to tap that spring, for you have forgotten the way to blessedness. If you waste this time of saving yourselves, it is just your fate. You have come to get from me tinsel and trash, the petty little cures and promotions, worldly joys and comforts. Very few of you desire to get from me the thing that I have come to give you: namely, liberation itself. Even among these few, those who stick to the path of sadhana, or spiritual practice, and succeed are a handful. I am determined to correct you only after informing you of my credentials. That is why I am now and then announcing my Nature by means of miracles, that is, acts which are beyond human capacity and human understanding. Not that I am anxious to show off my Powers. The object is do draw you closer to me, to cement your hearts to me. I ask only that you turn to me when your mind drags you into grief or pride or envy. Bring me the depths of your mind, no matter how grotesque, how cruelly ravaged by doubts or disappointments. I know how to treat them. I will not reject you. I am your mother. Why fear when I am here? Put all your faith in Me. I shall guide and guard you.
  22. Just follow your heart and be peace with yourself and God. Some of them here contradict their own statment and the scriptures. You are a girl and should follow the boy's path if he insist but if he wishes to follow your path that would be fine. Marriage to two souls is based on love and understanding. If the two does not exist even if you marry in your own race and relgion it would be disastrous and life would be hell. So be wise and go with your heart.
  23. THE DIVINE LAWS OF LIFE The Law of Divine Unity The whole universe is permeated with divine presence. " All this is for the habitation of the Lord," thus begins the Isa Upanishad. All religions acknowledge that the God is omnipresent and is the ruler as well as dweller of the whole cosmos. Since God is present in each and every aspect of His creation, it logically follows that the whole creation is divine and sacred and that each and every object in it and each and every aspect of it, including ourselves, the good and the bad, the high and the low, deserve our unconditional love, respect and attention. It also becomes clear that we cannot deal with the world according to our needs and desire or fear and expectations, but with a sense of equanimity as if we are playing hide and seek with God Himself in his gigantic world. We realize that self-realization is possible not by going away or escaping but by staying within and accepting the objective world as the twisted truth that need to be explored and resolved by consciously searching for God in its myriad objects. People flock to religious places and places of worship as if God does not exist in their homes and hearts. It is rather unfortunate that many people put on their religious attitude or their feelings of reverence selectively on certain occasions, when they go to a religious place, meet with a pious person or celebrate a religious festival. This attitude and behavior is very much similar to those psychologists quote in their experiments with animals on the subject of conditioning. It is an attitude that comes not because of genuine love, but because of an attitude powered by fear, expectation, habit or desire. Knowing clearly that God is omnipresent and omniscient, it is interesting that we choose to worship God only on certain occasions or in a specific manner. What is worse, most of us ignore the fundamental unity of life and indulge in discrimination and selfishness. The fanatics are actually the worst examples. They are enemies of God, who use His very name to discredit Him and His creation. They actually need the love of the humanity because they are deluded, devoid of genuine love for God and His creation and are in genuine need of it. If we remember that God is omnipresent and omniscient we can bring this attitude into our day to day lives and reorient ourselves completely. We can treat everything in the universe as sacred and divine and make it not only as a source of inspiration but also as an object of veneration to experience the presence of God. We need not have to look to the heavens or ascend to it only after we die to experience the presence of God. We can celebrate life as a joyous offering to God each and every moment and feel His presence in every place. He who is aware of this truth, would venerate the whole creation with unconditional love and respect. He would look upon the world with the mind of God and find himself in it. He would treat everything and everyone in it the way he would treat himself or expect others to treat him. He would deal with the world as if he is dealing with God. The Buddha taught this to His followers when he advised them to cultivate friendliness towards the whole world. If we look at the world objectively from this point of view, we realize why the world is in conflicts and why human relationships fail so frequently. Why the world is mostly polluted, dirty and disease ridden. We realize the price we are actually paying for not honoring the divine connection we have with the world we live in. If the world or circumstances are unkind or unfavorable to us, we need not have to look far for reasons but into ourselves. The world is against us, because we are against each other, in competition with each other, suspicious of each other and cannot visualize and work for a united world. If we want the world to be with us, we need to reconnect ourselves with the world and live in harmony with it, with a sense of gratitude and reverence and with an awareness that you cannot really be happy if a part of your body is sick or disjointed and you use your body purely for your selfish desires without any concern for its wellbeing. Man cannot find peace in his life, if he destroys life upon earth indiscriminately for his own survival. If we do not show any concern or love for the world in which we live, the world would become inhospitable for us. The same is true with plants and animals. If we indulge in the indiscriminate destruction of nature around us, nature would slowly make earth an inhospitable place for the mankind to live and propagate. It is very much true that the world is but a mirror in which we find ourselves. What you find in others is but what actually exists within you. What you give to others is what you receive in return. All religions preach this law. Those who seek the language of harmony and peace in life understand this principle very well and treat every thing in the world with due respect and a sense of sacredness. This law demands that you have to treat every one as how you would want to be treated by others. It enjoins that you develop the vision of oneness of the universe and deal with it accordingly. Those who observe this law are for ever connected to the presence of Divine with in themselves and with in others. They are connected to the flow of universal love that stems from the Oneness of the universe. But those who are self-centered find no true happiness. They find their match everywhere and find the world increasingly hostile. They may achieve temporary gains at the cost of others, but remain mostly unhappy, disturbed and unloved. When we accept this world as a true extension of ourselves, we will truly believe that what exists in us also exists outside. We will live with a sense of responsibility and aim to achieve life's goals in harmony with the world, rather than at the expense of others. We will learn to give most of or part of what we will receive. The truth is solace does not come by just going to a Church or temple, but in the love we spread and receive. If we are selfish and disconnected, however hard we may try, we cannot experience oneness with God. The love that we block in our hearts also blocks our consciousness to the love that comes from others. A person who experiences this ordeal has but an emptiness within from which he is rarely free. But if he can manage to shake off his pettiness, he will have the opportunity to experience the sacred presence of God in the world around Him. He will grow in the light of that awareness and learn to see the world as an aspect of God. He will find the world in harmony with his own aspirations and personal goals and live with the confidence that when the need arises, he would get the required help or guidance from the unknown. The Law of Inherent Balance It is a well known fact that biologically human beings cannot tolerate extreme physical or mental conditions. Beyond a point, we cannot withstand the joys and sorrows or the comforts or discomforts of life. Excessive self denial is as harmful as excessive self indulgence. Overeating is as harmful to our wellbeing as obsessive dieting. Too much alcohol would burn the system. A little once in awhile would perhaps relax the muscles and serve the heart. Extreme inaction or extreme exertion are equally harmful to our professional and personal lives. This is true in case of other things concerning our lives. For example in our relationships if we do not know where to stop, we may cause innumerable problems to ourselves and to others. If we do not know when to care and when to ignore our children or when to discipline them and when to pamper them, perhaps we may fail to bring them up as responsible adults. Even among the closest relationships, a certain degree of privacy and separation are required for the relationships to survive. People become abnormal or lose sight of reality when they lose their inner balance. If ordinary individuals attempt to go the extremes in any matter, they put themselves in difficult situations and suffer from serious problems. They may even develop some form of eccentricity or abnormality which may seriously interfere with their daily lives. Unless a person has trained himself well to withstand the rigors of working for an extraordinary aim or goal, it is better for him to remain with in balance and experience life in all its dimensions. To the degree we move towards the extremities, life become intolerable and painful. Whoever we are and whatever may be our achievements, if we swerve from the middle path, we will lose the sense of enjoyment. This in essence is the law of inherent balance. What we mean by this is that we must exert enough control on ourselves to ensure that we and our lives remain within bounds and in a state of balance so that we may be able to enjoy life in all its hues and colors without endangering our survival and happiness. We must know what is healthy for the body and the mind and what is not. We must know what is good for out lives and what is not and strictly adhere to them. The whole universe runs on the same principle. There is an inherent balance in all creation. In some intricate and inexplicable way the diverse components of the universe remain with in their bounds. The visible and invisible forces of the universe hold their sway and keep the balance. And if there is an occasional disturbance or calamity in the universe or upon earth, it is basically to correct some imbalance or restore balance. Imagine what would happen to this balance if the earth tilts by a few degrees or moves away from the sun by a few thousand miles! We are safe on earth because the earth is in a state of balance, and is in harmony with itself and with other objects in the universe. The moment this balance is disturbed, we will vanish forever into some black hole of the universe. If we can learn anything from our experiences, this is the foremost. Life on earth is conditioned by this principle of moderation. Our bodies and minds have evolved on the principle of balance and control. We are safe if we remain within bounds and avoid the extremes. We are at peace with ourselves if we know our limitations and stay with in our control. The Law of Abundance The universe exists on the principle of abundance. It is by giving that you receive. This is the law of abundance, which stipulates that we cannot enjoy the riches of the universe unless we are willing to share them with others. Health and happiness need not always go together. Not all who accumulate wealth enjoy their lives. It is because they guard their acquisitions jealously unwilling to share them with others. Abundance does not mean mere accumulation of material wealth. Happiness, peace of mind and harmony in life are also part of this universal abundance. Abundance comes into a person's life only when he facilitates its free flow from him and through him. You can block the flow and you may accumulate wealth. But there is no guarantee that the wealth you amassed would bring you peace and harmony. There is no guarantee that you would enjoy the love and acceptance of others. Selfish accumulation of wealth only generates negative consequences of abundance- its overwhelming capacity to inflict pain and suffering. Remember, whatever that comes to you today will leave you some day. For every thing is here is so transient and fleeting. At the end of life all that is sought is lost and all that is given is gained. This is the secret of life and the basis of divine life. The Law of Individual Reality You are the creator of your life and your reality. Your thoughts become your actions and your actions create the circumstances in your life. You are responsible for everything that happens to you in your life. This is the simple law of as you sow so you reap. It can also be called the law of motion and emotion. Every thought that we send out into the universe comes back to us with accumulated energy of its own kind. When negative thoughts go out of our minds, they will come back to us with redoubled negative energy and give us lot of pain and unhappiness. Positive thoughts on the other hand bring in positive energy and energize us, establishing in the process peace and harmony in our consciousness. Our actions too yield the same results. our positive actions bring in positive rewards and our negative actions bring negative rewards. The energy that we unleash either in the form of a thought or action always comes back to us with increased force. Thus through our actions and thoughts we are constantly creating our own realities. Whatever we give comes back to us. We should therefore be very careful about our thoughts and actions as they have a lasting influence on the pattern of our lives. People blame others for what happens to them. Little do they know that if any one is to be blamed it is the person himself who made it happen to himself ! Wisdom is when something happens to you, instead of looking around for excuses and placing the blame on others, look into yourself and ask yourself why you made it happen? Why you invited those conditions and circumstances into your life? Perhaps it was because you wanted to learn something out of that experience. Perhaps you wanted to strengthen some aspect of your personality or resolve some long troubling relationship. When you start accepting responsibility for the events of your life, you begin to learn more about yourself, your inner thoughts, your fears and aspirations. Out of this awareness you also start expanding your consciousness, become aware of your thought processes, and through this awareness you finally learn to change the conditions of your life. The Fifth Law: The Law of Harmony Truth is harmony, truth is 'Rta', order. The ancient Aryas believed in 'rta' (pronounced ritha) meaning the universal order or harmony. 'Rta' is an ancient word to which we can trace at least few important words that are known to us today. One is the Sanskrit world 'ritu', which means season. The others are the Latin word 'rhythmus', the French word 'rhythme', the Greek word 'rhuthmos' and the English word 'rhythm' , all meaning, beat, pulse, metre, pattern, order, flowing, and harmony. Let us understand why the concept of harmony and rhythm was considered so important by our ancient generations and why they elevated it to the level of highest divinity. They did so because they considered Truth, harmony and order to be the Ultimate Reality lying beyond all realities, the hidden secret behind all manifest creation, or the Absolute Truth above all relative truths. What is truth? Truth does not necessarily mean only verbal truths. Truth is the fundamental reality where there are no conflicts and confusion, no divisions and separation, but only unity and harmony. Truth is where there is movement without obstruction and where there is order without confusion. Where there is conflict, separation and feeling of alienation, there is no truth. Where there is division and alignment of divisions into opposing parts there is no truth. There is no truth in ones life and ones being unless there is total harmony in ones whole being, which include ones activities, thoughts and environment. Truth resolves all conflicts, divisions and differences and establishes permanent peace, order and harmony in ones life. There is conflict when you consider the world outside is different and separate from you. There is conflict when you consider others are different and separate from you. There is conflict when you consider that some one is good, or some one is bad; that some thing is this or some thing is that. There is conflict as long as you pass petty judgements about yourself or about the world around you. Unless you learn to resolve these differences, by expanding your consciousness, and learn to appreciate them in their own light, you cannot have real harmony and peace in your life. The ordinary mind cannot understand this truth because it is still steeped in ignorance. But at the highest level of consciousness, all conflicts and confusion resolve themselves into one beautiful, harmonious whole. You may call it divine. You may call it God, This or That. The fact is, it is One, it is whole, it is harmony and order, without any divisions and without any conflicts. At that level even in the seemingly chaotic conditions of life one can perceive harmony and certain order. That which we understand as good or that we understand as bad, become but the facets of the same Truth. He who realizes this fundamental reality of our existence no more suffers from inner confusion and conflicts. He suffers no more from the relative conflicts of his life or relationships. He stops judging things from the limited values of his mind and consciousness. He learns to forgive people. He learns to tolerate opposition. He learns to accept the conditions of his life without complaint. He accepts people and their weaknesses without reservations. For him there is nothing higher or lower, nothing sacred or evil. Nothing motivates him to take sides or judge the diversity of creation. He lives in harmony with himself and with others, with the world within himself and with the world external to him. He suffers not from fear or insecurity, or from worries and anxieties about himself or his life. This is the truth. If you want to live in peace, stop categorizing and grouping things and people, and it includes you also. Stop judging things from the relative state of your mind, against the partial truths you know and believe in. Understand that harmony comes when you live in peace with the world around you, and when you accept it whole heatedly and unconditionally without measuring it against your limited knowledge. It happens when you become an embodiment of 'Rta', the rhythm of life and creation, in which the ancients believed so much. The Law concerning Belief, Reason and Emotion You must learn to use appropriately the three forces of your personality namely emotion, reason and faith, to achieve peace and harmony in your life and move closer to God. Emotion, reason and belief are equally important in human life. They serve different purposes. But they are complimentary, which means that you need them all equally to conduct yourself in this world. Be it your ordinary life or spiritual, without the one the other two do not take you far. These three help us to conduct ourselves in this world, but in their own different ways. It is difficult to say which is more useful than the other two. He who has mastery over these three forces, is a master of himself and is qualified to reach God than any one else. Emotion, reason and faith actually emanate from the the body, the mind and the inner spirit, or alternatively, the animal, human and divine components of the human personality. They are the Great Trinity, namely Lord Siva, Vishnu and Brahma, the divinities that exist at the microcosmic level also, where as the whole human personality can be compared to the Cosmic Man (Purusha) or Supreme Being of the macrocosm. Without these three components, creation and our existence is incomplete. Emotions connect us to the world, reason helps us to solve the problems of our existence, while belief help us to transcend ourselves to reach the world beyond. Emotions bring people together through the power of love or the joy of being together. But do not help us maintain them for long. Reason helps us to understand the world around us intelligently, but does not take us far in building relationships that are based upon unconditional love, especially when the relationship are no more yielding the expected results. Reason cannot also explain properly the mysteries of our existence or the need for us to become spiritual. Its vision and its field of activity is limited to the tangible and to the sensory world. It is where faith comes to our aid. It help us to reason beyond reasons to pursue the path of spirituality so that we may realize Truth in a different way. It enables us to overcome our selfishness and petty mindedness so that we learn to love others unconditionally and sacrifice our selfish interests for the common welfare of all. When difficulties surround us and we have exhausted our rationale means to deal with them, or when we are overwhelmed with the negative emotions of fear and hostility, faith provides us with some meaningful clues and the required answers to sustain ourselves. When emotions and reason let us down, faith is the comforting and soothing companion. If you have faith in yourself and in God, you can withstand greater difficulties and maintain your inner balance. Trust is an aspect of faith only. Trust can bring diverse individuals and groups together so that they can work together and live in harmony, though this does not happen all the time as we do not have enough faith in each other. It is trust which is responsible for our social, political or economic institutions. But when people lose faith in them, they either use reason to change them or succumb to their emotions to destroy them. Emotions on their own destabilize our lives. Reason on its own leads us to unlimited ambition and selfishness and in the process endangers the very safety and survival of our existence. Faith on its own binds us to blind superstition and dogmatism. Emotions may cause harm if used inappropriately or not regulated properly. The body can suffer from enormous damage because of negative emotions. But take emotions completely out of our systems and what you find will be automatons, devoid of any love for life or concern for themselves or others. If you take emotions completely our of our consciousness, the institutions of family and society would collapse under the heavy burden of reason and conditional relationships alone. We should therefore know when and where to use these three instruments appropriately for the greater benefit of all. Cultivate the positive emotions of love, compassion, courage and inner joy, discarding wherever possible their corresponding negative emotions. Whether it is in your physical life, material life or spiritual life, learn to use three forces of your personality for your peace and inner happiness. Bring out the best of your emotions in your relationships. Use the best of your reasoning in times of difficulties and when you stand alone in the contemplation of God, let the light of your faith shine through your heart. Be a complete man, with the Trinity firmly balanced in you. The Law of Suffering Suffering comes to us because of our inner imperfections. To the extent we learn from our suffering and learn from it, our suffering is mitigated. Suffering is not a negative but a positive and dynamic force. Its aim is to open our eyes and correct our ways. It comes into our lives, not because we are destined to suffer, but because it has a message to deliver. When you pursue a wrong path, aim for a wrong goal, make some wrong choices or give expression to some inner imperfection, you suffer and in that suffering lies a warning that you need to change. To the extent you become aware of it and respond positively to it and to the extent you correct yourselves or your actions, your suffering goes. The hidden purpose of suffering therefore is not to really subject to you physical or mental anguish, but to improve you in some aspect of your life. Those who refuse to listen to its message continue to suffer, perhaps more intensely, till good sense prevails and the required change comes in them. The reason why every one suffers to some degree in the world is because every one is imperfect in some way and is in need of some improvement. It is through suffering that life evolves on earth. So when suffering comes into the life of an individual, he must look into himself deeply and find out the root cause. He must find out what its true message is, what it wants in him to change or improve. Once he identifies the cause, he must take necessary steps to change himself. He should strive sincerely to remove the cause. This way suffering becomes not a dark affliction, but a beacon of light guiding us in the right direction towards the future
  24. [109.6] You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion. If the believe in the above then why did they go on a conversion war? Their motto was either you become a muslim or you die and that was how Islam was spread in India. So they are contradicting the verse in quran. So, here we have to blame the authors of the Hadith as most Muslims follow the Hadis instead of the quran.
  25. I'm from Malaysia and may I know where are from.
