Thanks Sarvagattah, yes, this is also explained in Bhagavad-gita, the body constantly changes. TRANSLATION As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones. PURPORT Change of body by the atomic individual soul is an accepted fact. Even the modern scientists who do not believe in the existence of the soul, but at the same time cannot explain the source of energy from the heart, have to accept continuous changes of body which appear from childhood to boyhood and from boyhood to youth and again from youth to old age. From old age, the change is transferred to another body. This has already been explained in a previous verse (2.13). Transference of the atomic individual soul to another body is made possible by the grace of the Supersoul. The Supersoul fulfills the desire of the atomic soul as one friend fulfills the desire of another. The Vedas, like the Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad, as well as the Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad, compare the soul and the Supersoul to two friendly birds sitting on the same tree. One of the birds (the individual atomic soul) is eating the fruit of the tree, and the other bird (Kṛṣṇa) is simply watching His friend. Of these two birds — although they are the same in quality — one is captivated by the fruits of the material tree, while the other is simply witnessing the activities of His friend. Kṛṣṇa is the witnessing bird, and Arjuna is the eating bird. Although they are friends, one is still the master and the other is the servant. Forgetfulness of this relationship by the atomic soul is the cause of one's changing his position from one tree to another, or from one body to another. The jīva soul is struggling very hard on the tree of the material body, but as soon as he agrees to accept the other bird as the supreme spiritual master — as Arjuna agreed to do by voluntary surrender unto Kṛṣṇa for instruction — the subordinate bird immediately becomes free from all lamentations. Both the Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad (3.1.2) and Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad (4.7) confirm this: samāne vṛkṣe puruṣo nimagno 'nīśayā śocati muhyamānaḥ juṣṭaḿ yadā paśyaty anyam īśam asya mahimānam iti vīta-śokaḥ "Although the two birds are in the same tree, the eating bird is fully engrossed with anxiety and moroseness as the enjoyer of the fruits of the tree. But if in some way or other he turns his face to his friend who is the Lord and knows His glories — at once the suffering bird becomes free from all anxieties." Arjuna has now turned his face towards his eternal friend, Kṛṣṇa, and is understanding the Bhagavad-gītā from Him. And thus, hearing from Kṛṣṇa, he can understand the supreme glories of the Lord and be free from lamentation. Arjuna is advised herewith by the Lord not to lament for the bodily change of his old grandfather and his teacher. He should rather be happy to kill their bodies in the righteous fight so that they may be cleansed at once of all reactions from various bodily activities. One who lays down his life on the sacrificial altar, or in the proper battlefield, is at once cleansed of bodily reactions and promoted to a higher status of life. So there was no cause for Arjuna's lamentation.

A shocker: 16,000 student suicides in three years Indo Asian News Service New Delhi, May 2 (IANS) Over 16,000 school and college students in India committed suicide in the last three years, says the health ministry, shedding light once again on the sorry state of mental healthcare in the country. As per the ministry, 5,857 students committed suicide in 2006 and the figure for 2005 was 5,138. Similarly, in 2004, 5,610 students committed suicide. 'We know about the gravity of the situation and are going to re-strategise the national mental health programme,' Anbumani Ramadoss told IANS. Experts, doctors and even the World Health Organisation (WHO) believe that a multi-pronged strategy needs to be put in place to tackle problems ranging from anxiety, depression, stress and finally suicidal tendencies. Cherian Verghese, a specialist with WHO India, said: 'The mental health system needs an overhaul. Our schools might be giving good education but we need education in life skills. From counselling to increasing the number of mental health workers, the strategy should be holistic.' 'Students are a vulnerable group. Age, competition and relations in the family are all contributing to the growing cases of suicide among schoolgoers,' Verghese said. He said some private schools in India had started appointing counsellors but 'government schools across the country need to make a move now'. 'There is a gamut of problems; India lacks the required number of psychiatrists as well. The social taboo around mental health also fuels the problem. A country which houses a huge number of youngsters must not take mental health lightly,' Verghese added. He said since India faces a lot of natural disasters and deaths thereof, the country needs a brigade of social counsellors. Their job is to counsel people during post-disaster trauma disorder. Nimesh Desai, a leading psychiatrist in the national capital, said: 'India needs a 10-fold increase in the number of psychiatrists. Across the country, there are not more than 3,500 such processionals.' 'The doctor-patient ratio, social stigma, growing competition and the desire to succeed in every field are leading to a higher level of anxiety, stress and acute depression,' Desai said. Health ministry officials said the mental health programme in India would be revamped. Under the new plan, regional mental health institutes would be established. All mental health hospitals would be modernised and the district authorities would be asked to go for community mental health services, life skill education and counselling would be introduced in schools. Looks like the Swami is recovered and making preaching tours. While his yatra is struggling to pay back a million debt, good idea to hold seminars about keeping your inner peace. Swami Talks Inner Peace at NYU By Kate Ray for Washington Square News (New York University) on 1 May 2008 Image: Gaurahari Dasa Sacinandana Swami visited the Kimmel Center while in New York this week. <!--paging_filter-->Sacinandana Swami is here to teach us nothing that we do not already know. The German Hare Krishna monk is a kind of celebrity within the International Society for Krishna Consciousness community. He spoke at the Kimmel Center last Monday night and at a Village Hare Krishna temple last Tuesday as part of his month-long visit to the United States. Sacinandana Swami teaches and writes prolifically on the movement and has translated the Bhagavid-gita into German. He was initiated into the movement in 1971 by its founder, Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, according to his website. Tuesday's lecture, titled "The Mind - Our Fiercest Enemy or Best Friend," focused on the individual's relationship to the mind and ways that that relationship could be improved. "For he who has not conquered the mind, the mind is always talking to him, like a roommate who is never quiet. It is very difficult to tell him to shut up," Sacinandana Swami began, seated cross-legged before rows and rows of listeners. He spoke about the spiritual pilgrimages that we must all pursue and about how to form healthy relationships with our own minds. He described his own pilgrimage to the top of Mount Kailash in Tibet and explained how everyone could pursue pilgrimages without leaving home simply by opening themselves up to new ideas. "In a way, all of us human beings should be on pilgrimages," he said. "In your ordinary life, leave behind your old space, tables covered with junk mail, unwholesome relationships and accept a new space in your life that has new practices." But he said that he isn't trying to teach us anything that we couldn't know by ourselves. "I believe that people sometimes need a little impetus to remember what they have forgotten," he said. "I feel myself to be something like a midwife. A midwife doesn't create a child but helps the mother to see what is already inside of her. I believe monks should be midwives," he added with a chuckle. "A simple definition of craziness is to keep on doing the same old things every day and to expect a new result," he said. Ironically, the Rolling Stones were what got him into the Hare Krishna back in the '70s. "One day, I remember it was in television. I was a fan of the Rolling Stones. One of the members, the guitarist, had died from an overdose of drugs," he said. "I cried tears - my model had died. After this, an exciting new group, the Radha Krishna Temple, came on and sang the Hare Krishna mantra. I immediately felt deep solace." A 16-year-old boy at the time, Sacinandana Swami set off to introduce himself to the Hare Krishna community in Germany and began the life of learning, teaching and traveling that he continues to this day. "I don't know that his talk was so much helpful as his person, his demeanor. ... He has a very loving nature, very humorous," said CAS sophomore David Corner, who attended Tuesday's lecture. Sacinandana Swami will be giving lectures this week and the beginning of the next at The Sanctuary at 25 First Ave. He will deliver the second part of his lecture next Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Thoughts on bio-fuel by Kurma das (not the chef): Demons Having a Field Day BY: KURMA DASA May 01, AUSTRALIA (SUN) — One of the most sinful and disturbing occurrences at the present moment on this planet is the diversion of grains to the bio-fuel industry for the rich to keep their cars on the road, and the diversion of grains for feeding poor people which go to the meat eating and dairy industry. People around the world who are dependent on grains such as, maize, rice, etc., are on the brink of starvation, for the sake of the motor vehicle industry, and the meat eating industry. The demons are running rife on the planet at the moment, and money is now more important than human life. Last week, twelve tons of cows were grilled in what the demons called, " the biggest barbecue in the world " in Uruguay. Such a demoniac sacrificial display slaps right in the face of the Hare Krishna Movement and the worldwide movement of vegetarians. It also demonstrates very clearly to the poor that they are worthless in the eyes and hearts of these raksasas. People gather around Uruguayan cooks who barbecue 12 tons of meat in an attempt to break a record for the world's largest barbecue in Montevideo, April 13, 2008. (Xinhua/Reuters Photo) Photo Gallery>>> How can we relate such worldly problems to ISKCON? We have around one hundred gurus within the society. Is this economical? Is there a better approach to this aspect of ISKCON? Or, what about the yearly cost for milk products and for vegetables that are purchased for the Society? Are plans in place now, to curtail this burden to the Society, by becoming less dependent on the demons? There are a number of devotees around the world setting wonderful examples with cow protection and farming, such as Protect A Cow, etc. Why not invite representatives from these success stories to share their wisdom on the GBC? Srila Prabhupada gave the warning, and now the time is clearly running out. ISKCON's leaders are clearly not listening, and this will effect us all! Kurma das (not the chef)

But you don't care about anything, isn't it? "Let everybody go to hell, I don't care, after all that's what people want in this fallen age of kali - go to hell - why bother?" This mentality is of course in the material sense right and correct, let the karmis busy as a bee produce their karma. But is this the reason why Lord Caitanya, Lord Sri Krishna, God Himself appeared on this Earth 500 years ago and installed His Sankirtan Movement? He wants us to come back to the spiritual world and help others to also come back. Then Sri Caitanya specifically states (Antya-lila 4.126): “I declare that My name will be preached in every town and village on this earth.” Homosexuality is not becoming detached from material bondage, it is becoming terribly attached and bound up life after life to karmic reactions. Sri Mayapur Chandra udya Mandir Srila Nityananda Prabhu tells Srila Jiva Goswami that one day an astonishing temple will rise in Mayapur. eka adbhuta mandira ei haibe prakasa gauranga nitya seva haibe vikasa "An astounding temple will appear and will engage the entire world in the eternal service of Lord Caitanya."

There's responsibility in every aspect of life and without carrying out one's prescribed task - even without knowing one's setting of a task we find people struggling unnessecarily with intoxication, disease and behavioral disorder. Śyāmasundara: We are discussing Freud still. It was his idea that every person has certain aggressive and destructive tendencies within them, and sometimes these are directed upon the self, so that one will have accidents or sicknesses which are self-inflicted. Does this happen? Prabhupāda: When one commits suicide, that is not in sane condition. He is crazy. In sane condition nobody commits suicide. Śyāmasundara: He observed, for instance, when someone came up against a massive task, that sometimes they got sick in order to escape the task—these kinds of things. He investigated slips of the tongue and different accidents. He said that a lot of times they are caused by the self, the psychic. Prabhupāda: Yes, that is intention, not insanity. Śyāmasundara: Another area of his investigation was the problem of anxiety. He says that the source of anxiety is the id, or the primitive instincts, which are always forcing us to do this and do that. In other words, desire. These impulses threaten to overpower the rational or the moral self. So there is always a tension or an anxiety produced. Prabhupāda: Anxiety shall continue so long as you are in material condition. You cannot be free from anxiety in your conditioned life. Śyāmasundara: It is because we desired something and we were always frustrated by that desire? Prabhupāda: Frustration must be there, because you do not desire the right thing. Śyāmasundara: So that is the basic cause of anxiety—desire? Prabhupāda: Yes. Desiring something which is not permanent. That we call (indistinct). Suppose that I wish to live forever, but if I have accepted this material body, therefore there is no question of living forever. So I am always anxious when death should come. I am afraid of death, when the body will be destroyed. This is (indistinct). So therefore the conclusion is that anxiety is due to our acceptance of something which does not exist. This is the right definition of anxiety. Philosophy Discussions with His Divine Grace A. C. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Maharaja's Books

Jyotisa is the science of astronomy and astrology. The Yajur and Rig Vedas have sections attached to them dealing with astronomy, whereas the Atharva Veda has a section dealing with astrology. Aside from the Vedas, many rishis such as Parasara, Garga, Narada, Sukadeva, Bhrgu, etc., wrote on this science and preserved it in their sampradayas. -
Didn't yet read Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Maharaja's books on astrology but they're surely written to dovetail with bhagavat-dharma, devotional service. Although present GM preachers strongly reject astrology and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta's books on astrology ("If you believe in Radha-Krishna, then never go to an astrologer"), ultimately everything should be used in Krishna service - especially when we see that presently the conditioned souls have quite some faith in it but are kept in suspense by the holier-than-thou Vaishnavas. Starting point could be the evolving zodiac which gives a better understanding for mislead humanity that there is reincarnation, transformation and constant development of life. Aries - leap into live, fiery element, adventurous, zest for action, powerful temperament, untiring. Taurus - the explosive energy of Aries concentrates in Taurus and demands for earthing, grounding. Manifest values are created. Twins - when having accomplished earthing of consciousness, building a house etc, search for friendship, general education and communication as sum and substance for Twins. Cancer - after having attained knowledge in general in Twins, all the needs and requirements for fullfilled living become conscious in Cancer. Symbol for nice home and good family. Lion - here the development of material ego finds its high and wants to be flaunted to the world. Elitist, familial and attractive. Virgo, scrutinizes the exhibitionism of Lion and egocentric behaviour of the past six symbols. Demand for quality. Libra, attitude starts to change into social-mindedness by using fine arts and diplomacy. Scorpio, symbol of final transformation from egotism to collective thinking, radical changes can happen compared with a fire that burns egocentric attachment and pushes towards social mindedness without turning back. Sagittarius, philosopher and humanist to appear in public spotlight. Designer of social relationships. Capricorn, king of keeping good company with all kind of people. Expert to actually organise people. Aquarius - slackens too conservative rules made by Capricorn, fountain of youth in society, reformer in society. Identifies himself more with the collective than with himself. Pisces - dissolution of materialism and turning to God. "The explanation of the horoscope given by Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura is that at the time of the birth of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu the planets were situated as follows: Śukra (Venus) was in Meṣa-rāśi (Aries) and the nakṣatra (lunar mansion) of Aśvinī; Ketu (the ninth planet) was in Siṁha-rāśi (Leo) and Uttaraphalgunī; Candra (the moon) was in Pūrvaphalgunī (the eleventh lunar mansion); Śani (Saturn) was in Vṛścika-rāśi (Scorpio) and Jyeṣthā; Bṛhaspati (Jupiter) was in Dhanu-rāśi (Sagittarius) and Pūrvāṣāḍhā; Maṅgala (Mars) was in Makara-rāśi (Capricorn) and Śravaṇā; Ravi (the sun) was in Kumbha-rāśi (Aquarius) and Pūrvabhādrapāda; Rāhu was in Pūrvabhādrapāda; and Budha (Mercury) was in Mīna-rāśi (Pisces) and Uttarabhādrapāda. Canakya Pundit says, take immediate care without delay with three things - debt, disease and fire in your house. Now they seem to get similiar inside in the West. CAPTURED BY THE DEBT SPIDER <hr>by Ellen Brown 28 April 2008 President Andrew Jackson called the banking cartel a "hydra-headed monster eating the flesh of the common man." New York Mayor John Hylan, writing in the 1920s, called it a "giant octopus" that "seizes in its long and powerful tentacles our executive officers, our legislative bodies, our schools, our courts, our newspapers, and every agency created for the public protection." The debt spider has devoured farms, homes and whole countries that have become trapped in its web. In a February 2005 article called "The Death of Banking," financial commentator Hans Schicht wrote: The fact that the Banker is allowed to extend credit several times his own capital base and that the Banking Cartels, the Central Banks, are licensed to issue fresh paper money in exchange for treasury paper, [has] provided them with free lunch for eternity. . . . Through a network of anonymous financial spider webbing only a handful of global King Bankers own and control it all. . . . Everybody, people, enterprise, State and foreign countries, all have become slaves chained to the Banker's credit ropes. <small>1</small> Schicht writes that he had an opportunity in his career to observe the wizards of finance as an insider at close range. The game has gotten so centralized and concentrated, he says, that the greater part of U.S. banking and enterprise is now under the control of a small inner circle of men. He calls the game "spider webbing." Its rules include: Making any concentration of wealth invisible. Exercising control through "leverage" – mergers, takeovers, chain share holdings where one company holds shares of other companies, conditions annexed to loans, and so forth. Exercising tight personal management and control, with a minimum of insiders and front-men who themselves have only partial knowledge of the game. The late Dr. Carroll Quigley was a writer and professor of history at Georgetown University, where he was President Bill Clinton's mentor. Dr. Quigley wrote from personal knowledge of an elite clique of global financiers bent on controlling the world. Their aim, he said, was "nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole." This system was "to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements."<small>2</small> He called this clique simply the "international bankers." Their essence was not race, religion or nationality but was just a passion for control over other humans. The key to their success was that they would control and manipulate the money system of a nation while letting it appear to be controlled by the government. The international bankers have succeeded in doing more than just controlling the money supply. Today they actually create the money supply, while making it appear to be created by the government. This devious scheme was revealed by Sir Josiah Stamp, director of the Bank of England and the second richest man in Britain in the 1920s. Speaking at the University of Texas in 1927, he dropped this bombshell: The modern banking system manufactures money out of nothing. The process is perhaps the most astounding piece of sleight of hand that was ever invented. Banking was conceived in inequity and born in sin . . . . Bankers own the earth. Take it away from them but leave them the power to create money, and, with a flick of a pen, they will create enough money to buy it back again. . . . Take this great power away from them and all great fortunes like mine will disappear, for then this would be a better and happier world to live in. . . . But, if you want to continue to be the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, then let bankers continue to create money and control credit. <small>3</small> Professor Henry C. K. Liu is an economist who graduated from Harvard and chaired a graduate department at UCLA before becoming an investment adviser for developing countries. He calls the current monetary scheme a "cruel hoax." When we wake up to that fact, he says, our entire economic world view will need to be reordered, "just as physics was subject to reordering when man's world view changed with the realization that the earth is not stationary nor is it the center of the universe."<small>4</small> The hoax is that there is virtually no "real" money in the system, only debts. Except for coins, which are issued by the government and make up only about one one-thousandth of the money supply, the entire U.S. money supply now consists of debt to private banks, for money they created with accounting entries on their books. It is all done by sleight of hand; and like a magician's trick, we have to see it many times before we realize what is going on. But when we do, it changes everything. All of history has to be rewritten. The following chapters track the web of deceit that has engulfed us in debt, and present a simple solution that could make the country solvent once again. It is not a new solution but dates back to the Constitution: the power to create money needs to be returned to the government and the people it represents. The federal debt could be paid, income taxes could be eliminated, and social programs could be expanded; and this could all be done without imposing austerity measures on the people or sparking runaway inflation. Utopian as that may sound, it represents the thinking of some of America's brightest and best, historical and contemporary, including Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. Among other arresting facts explored in this book are that: The "Federal" Reserve is not actually federal. It is a private corporation owned by a consortium of very large multinational banks. (Chapter 13) Except for coins, the government does not create money. Dollar bills (Federal Reserve Notes) are created by the private Federal Reserve, which lends them to the government. (Chapter 2) Tangible currency (coins and dollar bills) together make up less than 3 percent of the U.S. money supply. The other 97 percent exists only as data entries on computer screens, and all of this money was created by banks in the form of loans. (Chapters 2 and 17) The money that banks lend is not recycled from pre-existing deposits. It is new money, which did not exist until it was lent. (Chapters 17 and 18) Thirty percent of the money created by banks with accounting entries is invested for their own accounts. (Chapter 18) The American banking system, which at one time extended productive loans to agriculture and industry, has today become a giant betting machine. An estimated $370 trillion are now riding on complex high-risk bets known as derivatives – 28 times the $13 trillion annual output of the entire U.S. economy. These bets are funded by big U.S. banks and are made largely with borrowed money created on a computer screen. Derivatives can be and have been used to manipulate markets, loot businesses, and destroy competitor economies. (Chapters 20 and 32) The U.S. federal debt has not been paid off since the days of Andrew Jackson. Only the interest gets paid, while the principal portion continues to grow. (Chapter 2) The federal income tax was instituted specifically to coerce taxpayers to pay the interest due to the banks on the federal debt. If the money supply had been created by the government rather than borrowed from banks that created it, the income tax would have been unnecessary. (Chapters 13 and 43) The interest alone on the federal debt will soon be more than the taxpayers can afford to pay. When we can't pay, the Federal Reserve's debt-based dollar system must collapse. (Chapter 29) Contrary to popular belief, creeping inflation is not caused by the government irresponsibly printing dollars. It is caused by banks expanding the money supply with loans. (Chapter 10) Most of the runaway inflation seen in "banana republics" has been caused, not by national governments over-printing money, but by global institutional speculators attacking local currencies and devaluing them on international markets. (Chapter 25) The same sort of speculative devaluation could happen to the U.S. dollar if international investors were to abandon it as a global "reserve" currency, something they are now threatening to do in retaliation for what they perceive to be American economic imperialism. (Chapters 29 and 37) There is a way out of this morass. The early American colonists found it, and so did Abraham Lincoln and some other national leaders: the government can take back the money-issuing power from the banks. (Chapters 8 and 24) The bankers' Federal Reserve Notes and the government's coins represent two separate money systems that have been competing for dominance throughout recorded history. At one time, the right to issue money was the sovereign right of the king; but that right got usurped by private moneylenders. Today the sovereigns are the people, and the coins that make up less than one one-thousandth of the money supply are all that are left of our sovereign money. Many nations have successfully issued their own money, at least for a time; but the bankers' debt-money has generally infiltrated the system and taken over in the end. These concepts are so foreign to what we have been taught that it can be hard to wrap our minds around them, but the facts have been substantiated by many reliable authorities. To cite a few – Robert H. Hemphill, Credit Manager of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, wrote in 1934: We are completely dependent on the commercial Banks. Someone has to borrow every dollar we have in circulation, cash or credit. If the Banks create ample synthetic money we are prosperous; if not, we starve. We are absolutely without a permanent money system. When one gets a complete grasp of the picture, the tragic absurdity of our hopeless position is almost incredible, but there it is. It is the most important subject intelligent persons can investigate and reflect upon. <small>5</small> Graham Towers, Governor of the Bank of Canada from 1935 to 1955, acknowledged: Banks create money. That is what they are for. . . . The manufacturing process to make money consists of making an entry in a book. That is all. . . . Each and every time a Bank makes a loan . . . new Bank credit is created -- brand new money. <small>6</small> Robert B. Anderson, Secretary of the Treasury under Eisenhower, said in an interview reported in the August 31, 1959 issue of U.S. News and World Report: [W]hen a bank makes a loan, it simply adds to the borrower's deposit account in the bank by the amount of the loan. The money is not taken from anyone else's deposit; it was not previously paid in to the bank by anyone. It's new money, created by the bank for the use of the borrower. Michel Chossudovsky, Professor of Economics at the University of Ottawa, wrote during the Asian currency crisis of 1998: [P]rivately held money reserves in the hands of "institutional speculators" far exceed the limited capabilities of the World's central banks. The latter acting individually or collectively are no longer able to fight the tide of speculative activity. Monetary policy is in the hands of private creditors who have the ability to freeze State budgets, paralyse the payments process, thwart the regular disbursement of wages to millions of workers (as in the former Soviet Union) and precipitate the collapse of production and social programmes. <small>7</small> Today, Federal Reserve Notes and U.S. dollar loans dominate the economy of the world; but this international currency is not money issued by the American people or their government. It is money created and lent by a private cartel of international bankers, and this cartel has the United States itself hopelessly entangled in a web of debt. By 2006, combined personal, corporate and federal debt in the United States had reached a staggering 44 trillion dollars – four times the collective national income, or $147,312 for every man, woman and child in the country.<small>8</small> The United States is legally bankrupt, defined in the dictionary as being unable to pay one's debts, being insolvent, or having liabilities in excess of a reasonable market value of assets held. By October 2006, the debt of the U.S. government had hit a breath-taking $8.5 trillion. Local, state and national governments are all so heavily in debt that they have been forced to sell off public assets to satisfy creditors. Crowded schools, crowded roads, and cutbacks in public transportation are eroding the quality of American life. A 2005 report by the American Society of Civil Engineers gave the nation's infrastructure an overall grade of D, including its roads, bridges, drinking water systems and other public works. "Americans are spending more time stuck in traffic and less time at home with their families," said the group's president. "We need to establish a comprehensive, long-term infrastructure plan."<small>9</small> We need to but we can't, because government at every level is broke. Money in the Land of Oz If governments everywhere are in debt, who are they in debt to? The answer is that they are in debt to private banks. The "cruel hoax" is that governments are in debt for money created on a computer screen, money they could have created themselves. The vast power acquired through this sleight of hand by a small clique of men pulling the strings of government behind the scenes evokes images from The Wizard of Oz, a classic American fairytale that has become a rich source of imagery for financial commentators. Editorialist Christopher Mark wrote in a series called "The Grand Deception": Welcome to the world of the International Banker, who like the famous film, The Wizard of Oz, stands behind the curtain of orchestrated national and international policymakers and so-called elected leaders. <small>10</small> The late Murray Rothbard, an economist of the classical Austrian School, wrote: Money and banking have been made to appear as mysterious and arcane processes that must be guided and operated by a technocratic elite. They are nothing of the sort. In money, even more than the rest of our affairs, we have been tricked by a malignant Wizard of Oz.<small>11</small> In a 2002 article titled "Who Controls the Federal Reserve System?", Victor Thorn wrote: In essence, money has become nothing more than illusion -- an electronic figure or amount on a computer screen. . . . As time goes on, we have an increasing tendency toward being sucked into this Wizard of Oz vortex of unreality [by] magician-priests that use the illusion of money as their control device.<small>12</small> James Galbraith wrote in The New American Prospect: We are left . . . with the thought that the Federal Reserve Board does not know what it is doing. This is the "Wizard of Oz" theory, in which we pull away the curtains only to find an old man with a wrinkled face, playing with lights and loudspeakers.<small>13</small> The analogies to The Wizard of Oz work for a reason. According to later commentators, the tale was actually written as a monetary allegory, at a time when the "money question" was a key issue in American politics. In the 1890s, politicians were still hotly debating who should create the nation's money and what it should consist of. Should it be created by the government, with full accountability to the people? Or should it be created by private banks behind closed doors, for the banks' own private ends? William Jennings Bryan, the Populist candidate for President in 1896 and again in 1900, mounted the last serious challenge to the right of private bankers to create the national money supply. According to the commentators, Bryan was represented in Frank Baum's 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by the Cowardly Lion. The Lion finally proved he was the King of Beasts by decapitating a giant spider that was terrorizing everyone in the forest. The giant spider Bryan challenged at the turn of the twentieth century was the Morgan/Rockefeller banking cartel, which was bent on usurping the power to create the nation's money from the people and their representative government. Before World War I, two opposing systems of political economy competed for dominance in the United States. One operated out of Wall Street, the New York financial district that came to be the symbol of American finance. Its most important address was 23 Wall Street, known as the "House of Morgan." J. P. Morgan was an agent of powerful British banking interests. The Wizards of Wall Street and the Old World bankers pulling their strings sought to establish a national currency that was based on the "gold standard," one created privately by the financial elite who controlled the gold. The other system dated back to Benjamin Franklin and operated out of Philadelphia, the country's first capital, where the Constitutional Convention was held and Franklin's "Society for Political Inquiries" planned the industrialization and public works that would free the new republic from economic slavery to England.<small>14</small> The Philadelphia faction favored a bank on the model established in provincial Pennsylvania, where a state loan office issued and lent money, collected the interest, and returned it to the provincial government to be used in place of taxes. President Abraham Lincoln returned to the colonial system of government-issued money during the Civil War; but he was assassinated, and the bankers reclaimed control of the money machine. The silent coup of the Wall Street faction culminated with the passage of the Federal Reserve Act in 1913, something they achieved by misleading Bryan and other wary Congressmen into thinking the Federal Reserve was actually federal. Today the debate over who should create the national money supply is rarely heard, mainly because few people even realize it is an issue. Politicians and economists, along with everybody else, simply assume that money is created by the government, and that the "inflation" everybody complains about is caused by an out-of-control government running the dollar printing presses. The puppeteers working the money machine were more visible in the 1890s than they are today, largely because they had not yet succeeded in buying up the media and cornering public opinion. Economics is a dry and forbidding subject that has been made intentionally complex by banking interests intent on concealing what is really going on. It is a subject that sorely needs lightening up, with imagery, metaphors, characters and a plot; so before we get into the ponderous details of the modern system of money-based-on-debt, we'll take an excursion back to a simpler time, when the money issues were more obvious and were still a burning topic of discussion. The plot line for The Wizard of Oz has been traced to the first-ever march on Washington, led by an obscure Ohio businessman who sought to persuade Congress to return to Lincoln's system of government-issued money in 1894. Besides sparking a century of protest marches and the country's most famous fairytale, this little-known visionary and the band of unemployed men he led may actually have had the solution to the whole money problem, then and now . . . .

Bhaktin Petra from Ukrain reports today about a parikram in wonderful Navadvip. posted 29 April 2008 http://bhnpetra.blogspot.com/ Parikrama with Ukrain devotees On the way to Modrumadvip - one of 9 islands of Navadvip - which is nondifferent from Lord Rama's Ayodya... In Satya yuga, Lord Rama along with Sita Devi and Laksman came here during Their exile. Lord Rama built a hut here under a huge banyan tree. This tree can not be seen at the present time. Lord Rama told Sita that he would come here in Kali yuga with a yellow complexion, from the womb of Mother Saci in the house of Jagannatha Misra. He told her that she would take birth as His wife Vishnupriya, and that Navadvipa was very dear to Him and that not even Ayodhya could equal it. He told her that Kausalya, who is His mother now, would take birth as Mother Saci. He told her that this was a great secret and that she should not reveal it to anyone. On the boat in association of ukrain matajis. Specially during monsun season Ganga floads. Smart villigers put heavy bags in order to prevent Her coming too close. He discovered Lord Caitanya’s appearance place while living here. Bhaktivinoda Thakura's bed Receiving mercy from Bhaktivinoda Thakura's cane Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati's bed We visited Vishunpriya's temple. When Lord Gauranga took sannyasa his wife Vishnupriya was devastated. In order to comfort her hE manifested deitiy of Himself which she worshiped in His separation. Her life is amazing. She used to count the beads, chanting the holy name. Counting the name, she put some rice aside. With the recitation of the mantra, she put some rice aside. One recitation, one piece of rice was put aside. One chant, one piece of rice. In this way, she counted while chanting. Then she boiled the rice and offered it to Lord Krishna and she used to take that much prashadam for her sustainance. So, her body became emaciated, gradually. But she continued that sort of life of austerity. Lord Gauranga's shoes In front of temple sadhus begging for small change Lord Gauranga embrance this dry, dead tree and bring it to life. Thanks Indulekhadasi, yes, Jahnavi dd says something similiar, "today I suddenly felt so much separation from the deities in Mayapur..." April 29, 2008 <!-- by jahnavi --> Today: it poured with rain and I missed Mayapur. I was at work today, entering in books on Amazon.com, when I suddenly felt so much separation from the deities in Mayapur. Being able to have their darshan every day for almost a month was one of the most special things about being my whole trip. To see the altar every morning was really to see the spiritual world. Of course, some mornings I didn’t. Some mornings I saw the crowds of people, or the fans that hadn’t been turned on yet. Or sometimes my mind was more focused on my mosquito bites than on really seeing Krishna on the altar. But some mornings - the curtains would pull back and the breath would literally be sucked from my chest. I know people write that kind of thing a lot as a way of describing a certain intensity of emotion - but I really mean it. I felt so stupid sometimes - for ever having thought that the deity was anything less than Krishna, personally present. To see the altar lit up in the dark early morning, was to have every doubt removed. Perhaps it was the special mercy of being in such spiritually potent surroundings, that some days I could spend hours in the temple room, absorbed in the beauty of the forms of the Lord and his associates. I know at here at home, it often takes all my concentration to stay in front of the altar for fifteen minutes without starting to compose to do lists or potential blogs. Ha. I remember one day in particular - one of my last in Mayapur. That day Sri Madhava was dressed in a deep orange dhoti. A long, thick forest green garland of tulasi leaves hung down to his knees, and his forehead was decorated with brilliant yellow sandalwood paste. At the back of the temple room, the afternoon kirtan group played sweetly, the holy name adorned with the beautiful sounds of a bamboo flute. I pray those moments remain deeply embedded within my mind, and that I can gain the intelligence and understanding to truly relish them. So - back to my desk - I logged onto the Mayapur webcam, where it just happened to be time for the evening arati. At once I was back in that temple room, as the English rain pounded down on the windows around me. Ah, the internet. It makes travelling yogis of us all. Radha Madhava on the morning of my 21st birthday P.S. Below is a sample of the kind of the daily afternoon kirtans in the temple room, kindly recorded by a devotee from Dallas during the festival time. On the far right is Prabhu Gouranga, a wonderful devotee and incredible flute player, who I had the pleasure of getting to know a little bit while I was there. He is a senior disciple of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, but now lives full time in Mayapur. It is always inspiring for me to meet other musicians, but no more so than when they are so devoted to Krishna as well. He plays flute in the temple room for Radha Madhava in numerous shifts throughout the day, and it is truly enchanting to hear.

Looks like the newspapers will always have enough stuff to report about incidents occuring at Puri. Finally they will have to pass a new law, who's actually a Hindu? Mulsim Pilgrim entered Puri Jagannath Temple, Landed in Trouble Apr 29, JAGANNATHA PURI, ORISSA — A Tamil pilgrim's journey to the hallowed city of Puri got a bad taste on Tuesday, as the Muslim devotee, identified as K. Jabeer (51) from Chennai faced an hour-long police inquiry for flouting the Jagannath Temple norm by entering into the shrine, which is off limits for non-Hindus. Later Jabeer was allowed to go away from the police station after the cops found him ignorant on the temple’s stricture on religion. Jabeer, who works as a laundry operator at Employers’ State Insurance Corporation Hospital in K. K Nagar area in Chennai, entered into the shrine precinct along with three of his friends (all Hindus), police said. Some priests raised suspicion on the religion of Jabeer from his get-up and beard-style, typical of a Muslim. When the priests asked his religion, Jabeer admitted to being a Muslim. “I had no idea about the Jagannath Temple rule, which is out of bounds for the non-Hindus. I have come for the first time to Puri on a pilgrimage accompanied by 480 devotees (all Hindus) from Tamil Nadu,” said Jabeer. Temple inspector Gyan Ranjan Mahapatra also maintained that the Muslim pilgrim was unaware of the temple norm. Meanwhile, a cleansing ritual, bada mahasnan (giving a special bath to Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra) was performed by the temple priests following Jabeer’s entry into the temple. The daily rituals at the temple were thrown out of order, a temple official told. “However, the rituals went on later, though pretty late. There was no tension inside the temple,” said Laxmidhar Pujapanda, the public relation officer of the Jagannath temple administration. Jabeer, on the other hand, blamed the Jagannath Temple administration for the humiliation he faced on his maiden trip to the temple town and urged the shrine authorities to install a blow-up display board highlighting the do’s and don’ts at the Jagannath Temple, frequented by nearly 30,000 pilgrims, everyday. “It is very hard to notice the temple rules which are written on a small board, placed in a corner. Even though the Jagannath Temple is of world repute, not all the people would be knowing the strictures here,” Jabeer said. Meanwhile, this incident came close on the heels another kind of violation that had taken place in the Jagannath Temple last week, when N. Basu, a pilgrim from Hyderabad, was fined for sneaking into the temple with his video cameras. Cameras are not allowed inside the Jagannath Temple at Puri. Basu and his friends, however, did not enter the temple through the main entrance point. They managed to get themselves into the shrine by climbing a ladder placed on the temple wall adjacent to the shrine kitchen.

These deities of Sri Sri Panca tattva are really impressive and attractive. Hopefully they will become famous all over the world. cheto-darpana-marjanam bhava-maha--davagni-nirvapanam shreyah-kairava-chandrika-vitaranam vidya-vadhu-jivanam anandambudhi-vardhanam prati-padam purnamritaswadanam sarvatma-snapanam param vijayate sri-krishna-sankirtanam Glory to the Sri-Krsna-Sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This sankirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious. namnam akari bahudha nija-sarva-shaktis tatrarpita niyamitah smarane na kalah etadrishi tava kripa bhagavan mamapi durdaivam idrisham ihajani nanuragaha O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names, like Krsna and Govinda. In these transcendental names You have invested all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily approach You by Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them. trinad api sunichena taror api sahishnuna amanina manadena kirtaniyah sada harih One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street; one should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige, and should be ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly. na dhanam na janam na sundarim kavitam va jagad-isha kamaye mama janmani janmanishvare bhavatad bhaktir ahaituki twayi O almighty Lord, I have no desire to accumulate wealth, nor do I desire beautiful women nor do I want any number of followers. I only want Your causeless devotional service, birth after birth. ayi nanda-tanuja kinkaram patitam mam vishame bhavambudhau kripaya tava pada-pankaja- sthita-dhuli-sadrisham vichintaya O son of Maharaja Nanda (Krsna), I am Your eternal servitor, yet somehow or other I have fallen into the ocean of birth and death. Please pick me up from this ocean of death and place me as one of the atoms at Your lotus feet. nayanam galad-ashru-dharaya vadanam gadgada-ruddhaya gira pulakair nichitam vapuh kada tava nama-grahane bhavishyati O my Lord, when will my eyes be decorated with tears of love flowing constantly when I chant Your holy name? When will my voice choke up, and when will the hairs of my body stand on end at the recitation of Your name? yugayitam nimeshena chakshusha pravrishayitam shunyayitam jagat sarvam govinda-virahena me O Govinda! Feeling Your separations I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence. ashlishya va pada-ratam pinashtu mam adarshanan marma-hatam karotu va yatha tatha va vidadhatu lampato mat-prana-nathas tu sa eva naparah I know no one but Krsna as my Lord, and He shall remain so even if He handles me roughly by His embrace or makes me brokenhearted by not being present before me. He is completely free to do anything and everything, for He is always my worshipful Lord, unconditionally.

It surely creates faith when someone hears, such and such is born in a very respected Vaishnava family. On the other hand when a Western Vaishnava is around 70, has a faultless vita, is an expert preacher and is clearly ordered by his guru to be his successor, what do we want more? "There are so many instances. Śrīman Rāmānujācārya’s guru was not from a brāhmaṇa family, but still, he accepted guru. So in the Vaisnava literature… Just like Haridāsa Ṭhākura. Haridāsa Ṭhākura, we give ”Jaya, Ṭhākura Haridāsa Ṭhākura ki jaya.” We say. This Haridāsa Ṭhākura was born in a Mohammedan family. And Caitanya Mahāprabhu made him nāmācārya, Śrīla Haridāsa Ṭhākura. He was chanting Hare Krishna mantra daily three hundred thousands of times. So Caitanya Mahāprabhu selected him, nāmācārya. Caitanya Mahāprabhu Himself came to broadcast the glory of Hare Krishna mahā-mantra. So instead of becoming Himself the ācārya, He designated Haridāsa Ṭhākura as ācārya. And similarly, Śrī Sanātana Gosvāmī, Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī, they also became Mohammedans. They were born in Hindu, sārasvata-brāhmaṇa family, but due to their association as minister of the then Muslim government, they were rejected from the brāhmaṇa society. Formerly, the brāhmaṇa society was very strict. Anyone becoming serving, serving, servant, he is immediately excluded: “Oh, you cannot become a brāhmaṇa. You are serving." West Virginia Gazette article April 24, 2008 Some secretive sects suffer tragedy FRINGE Mormon polygamous wives, wearing antique clothing and hairdos from the 1800s, appear in news photos daily. Americans are puzzled by the mysterious Yearning For Zion Ranch, a commune of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where Texas authorities seized 437 children. The secretive sect's leader, Warren Jeffs, is serving 10 years in prison for abetting rape of underage girls. But otherwise, the west Texas compound has a tranquil record, compared to some other half-hidden religious enclaves that have wrought havoc in America. YFZ Ranch is about 200 miles west of Waco, site of the tragic 1993 clash between federal agents and armed Branch Davidian cultists. After nearly two months of a gory siege, a federal push turned the sect's wooden compound into an inferno. Leader David Koresh and 78 followers died, including 18 children. Through the years, various other horrors have engulfed offbeat U.S. religious colonies. The most infamous was the People's Temple of the Rev. Jim Jones. After the paranoid leader moved his California followers to a Guyana tropical retreat, Jonestown, reports of warped abuses spread. When a congressman flew officials and news reporters to investigate in 1978, a murderous attack on the delegation killed five and wounded 11. Then 914 cultists - including nearly 300 children - drank cyanide in a mass suicide that stunned the world. The Waco and Jonestown disasters are notorious examples of peril that can arise from fringe sects isolated from society. But several lesser American tragedies are mostly forgotten. Some examples: The Church of the First Born of the Lamb of God was a Mormon polygamous offshoot, somewhat like the YFZ Ranch - but horribly violent. It was ruled by two brothers, Ervil and Joel LeBaron. When they split, Ervil allegedly ordered his brother's murder. He was convicted of the killing, but freed on a technicality. The surviving brother had 13 wives and 54 children. He sent various wives to assassinate rival polygamist patriarchs such as Dr. Rulon Allred, leader of the Apostolic United Brethren, and polygamist Bob Simons, who ministered to Native Americans, plus some dissidents within the cult. Altogether, two dozen murders occurred. LeBaron and one wife were sentenced to life in prison. He died in a cell in 1981. His son, Richard LeBaron, and other relatives were sentenced in 1993 for more cult murders. The Temple of Love was a Florida sect claiming 10,000 African American members. The leader, Yahweh ben Yahweh, trained top lieutenants as "death angels" to kill church defectors and white slum dwellers. In 1992, Yahweh and six aides were convicted of 14 murders. The leader drew 18 years in prison, and his aides got from 15 to 16 years. Heaven's Gate was a space-age cult in San Diego. Some male members had themselves castrated to achieve purity. When the Hale-Bopp Comet appeared in 1997, members became convinced that they must "shed their containers" (commit suicide) so they could be transported to a UFO hiding behind the comet. In their communal house, 39 believers took their own lives with painkillers and plastic bags over their heads. Two others later died in follow-up suicides. Mormon minister Jeffrey Lundgren was defrocked by the Reorganized Church of Latter-Day Saints, so he moved his followers to Kirtland, Ohio, and formed a private commune. The leader decided that a human sacrifice was needed - so he and aides systematically killed a member family: father, mother and three children. Lundgren was convicted of murder and executed in 2006. At a Hare Krishna "Palace of Gold" near Moundsville, West Virginia, Swami Bhaktipada ordered murders of dissident members. The swami was released from prison in 2004 after serving eight years. His top lieutenant remains in a cell. Some members of the commune confessed to sexual abuse and merchandise fraud. Guru Bhagwan Rajneesh led a 1980s Oregon commune, where he kept a collection of Rolls-Royces. After conflict with area residents, the guru's followers planted salmonella bacteria in restaurant salad bars in a nearby town, sickening 750 people. Various criminal charges were filed. Rajneesh left America, and died in 1990. Two of his women aides went to prison. Unlike these violent groups, YFZ Ranch has been peaceful. But it's easy to see why authorities proceed cautiously in dealing with fringe believers who isolate themselves in strange communes. Point is if you don't believe in Vaishnavism you automatically believe in something else. And this something else - can it be proven? Just like here they say: "Immortal soul? This cannot be proven". However, the rascal then believes that there's no soul and everything is finished when death comes. When examining this understanding and why this is exactly accepted, no proof! They still can't proof what is life, but reject the vedas. At least, if we have to believe something, why not say it is 50:50 and respect the vedic thought? If they cannot prove their material understanding that we're mortal biological life, they have to accept that it is from their point of view 50:50 and don't treat the Vaishnavas like crazy fellows. “Who is Crazy?”. Now how to decide? You are thinking the Swamiji and the party, they are crazy. And we are thinking those who are materially engaged, they’re crazy. Now how to decide it? Can you suggest any way how to decide it, how, who is crazy? Who will decide it? Everyone, two parties, when there is something disagreement, the two parties will say that, “You are in wrong,” the other party will say, “You are…” Now who will decide it? That who is wrong? Can you suggest any one of you who’ll decide? The world is going on in partyism and each opposite party is thinking that the other party is crazy. Now who will decide who is actually crazy? The actual… Then you have come to the point of reason, who is crazy? Now just see. Take any common man. Not yourself, not myself. Any common man. If you ask him that, “What you are?”, he’ll say… His conception is that I am this body. Everyone will say. He’ll give you some description that, “I am Christian.” “I am Hindu.” “I am Mr. Such and Such.” “I am Mrs. Such and Such.” Everything, whatever he or she will say, that is all due to this body. All due to this body. Everyone. When you say, “You are American,” that means this is the body. Because by accident, by something, by some reason, you were born in this land of America. That is also another artificial name. The land is neither America nor India. The land is land. But we give some designation, “This is America.” We make some boundary. This is United States of America. This is Canada. This is Europe, and this is Asia. This is India. So this is our name, but actually was there any history that the land is American, or the land…? Say, four hundred years before, or five hundred years before, was this land was known as America? You have named it, America. Say, some thousands of years before was this, this, the continent which is known as, I mean, Europe, can you trace out history, that it was known as Europe? They are all designations. Just like we can say from historical point of view of Vedic literature, this whole world was known as Ilāvṛta-varṣa. Ilāvṛta-varṣa. And, later on, since the reign of one great king, emperor, his name was Bharata. He changed the name into his own name, Bhārata-varṣa. So this whole planet was now Bhārata-varṣa. Then, as the days go on, the some part of this world was, I mean to say, separated from the original Bhārata-varṣa, and it was called Europe or some other place. Just like you have got practical experience even in this age, that India, say about twenty years before, the area of India was including Burma, Ceylon and the modern Pakistan and everything. Now it is separated. Now they are calling this is Pakistan. Somebody’s calling there is Ceylon. So this process is going on. Actually the land is neither Bhārata-varṣa, nor Asia, nor America, nor India, but we give this name. With the change of time, with the change of influence, they are all designations. Fifty years before when some of you, of course, not all of you are fifty years old. Say, forty years before, or thirty-five years before, when you were, or twenty-five years before, when you were not born, can you say what was your designation? Were you American or Indian or Chinese or Russian, can you say? Say, after getting out of this body, do you think that you’ll continue as American or Indian or Chinese or Russian? Suppose you are now in America, in the land of America. So next life you may be in China. Who can say? Because we are changing our bodies, you cannot say that we are not changing our bodies. Can you say that you are not changing your body? Yes, we are changing. When I was born, from the mother’s womb, my body was so little. Now how I have changed my…? Where is that body? Where is that body when I was a child? Where is that body when I was a boy? Where is that body when I was a young man? I have got my photograph, my studentship. Oh, Swamiji, you were like this? Where is that body? Where it has gone? So we are changing, but I am the same man. I am thinking, “Oh, in my childhood, I was doing like this. Oh, in my youthhood, I was thinking like this. In my boyhood, I did so many things.” Now where those days gone? If my body, everything has gone away? It is simply remembrance. But still we are sticking to this body, and, when I ask you or when you ask me, “What you are?”, I say something in relationship with this body. Are you not crazy? Can you tell, any of you, that you are not crazy? If you, I mean to say, so far your identification, if you identify with something which you are not, then are you not crazy? Are you not crazy? So everyone who identifies with this body, he’s a crazy man. He’s a crazy man. It is a challenge to the world. Anyone who claims God’s property, God’s land, God’s earth, as own property, he’s a crazy man. This is a challenge. Let anyone establish that this is his property, this is his body. You are simply, by nature, you are, by the fix of nature, you are put into some place. You are put under some body. You are put under some consciousness, and you are dictated by the laws of nature. And you are mad after that. Bhagavad-gītā 9.34 by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda New York, December 26, 1966, “Who is Crazy?” full lecture: http://causelessmercy.com/t/t/661226BG.NY.htm

Thanks theist, yes, mercy is on the way for a devotee 31 December, 1972 Bombay My dear Dhananjaya, Of course, the devotee is always very liberal-minded and tolerant towards everyone, seeing everyone as the part and parcel of Krsna and the pure devotee of Krsna, only seeing that due to maya they have temporarily forgotten their real position. So a devotee is always very understanding if there is some discrepancy behavior on the part of nondevotees, and even some devotees misbehave, he is always very tolerant and understanding. The point is that no one is actually qualified in this material world to approach Krsna, but if he makes the attempt through our inducing him gradually to give his energy to Krsna, by that attempt Krsna will extend his mercy and deliver the fallen soul despite his so many disqualifications. And such person or aspiring devotee, he is to be considered the most exalted of men because he has given his life to Krsna.

There shouldn't be any difference between the Gaudiya Vaishnavas and the Hare Krishnas, at least we should theoretically understand this. One who has actually seen the Supreme Lord wouldn't be bewildered like that. That means that people are posing as knower of the truth but actually haven't seen the truth. "Prabhupāda: So Arjuna has seen the Supreme Brahman. So you make Arjuna guru, Krishna guru. Arjuna is representative of Krishna, friend of Krishna. So why do you go to a bogus guru? You must be cheated. Guru is essential. It is necessary. But take the real guru. But if you go to the bogus guru, you must be disappointed. For your treatment you need to go to a physician. That’s all. When you are diseased you cannot say, “No, no, I don’t want to…” It is necessary. But go to the real physician. Don’t go to a cheater. He has no knowledge in the medical science, and he places himself as “I am physician, MD.” Then you’ll be cheated. The guru is necessary, that’s a fact. But go to the real guru. Who is real guru? Real guru is Krishna or one who has seen Krishna, Arjuna. Take them. Then you’ll be benefitted. And if you go to a bogus man who does not know Krishna, who does not know what is Krishna’s instruction, then you must be cheated. So the answer is guru is absolute necessary. Tad-vijñānārthaṁ sa gurum evābhigacchet [MU 1.2.12] This is Vedic injunction, that one must go. But he must go to the real guru. And who is real guru? Who knows Krishna. Take, for example, Arjuna, how he studied Krishna. And he says, paraṁ brahma paraṁ dhāma [Bg. 10.12]." Answers to a Questionnaire from Bhavan’s Journal by His Divine Grace A. C.
