  1. Btw, let's pray for SDG!

    September 16, 4:04 P.M.

I made out a Living Will and a Medical Power of Attorney, which are required by the hospital for my operation. In the Living Will, I said I would like my body cremated and the ashes buried in Mayapura. I would like to have one of those little monuments like the other sannyasis have and be buried alongside TKG, Sridhara Swami, Bhaktitirtha Maharaja, Gour Govinda Maharaja, and the rest. For the purposes of being specific, I said I would like to die in Vrndavana, but I’m really not sure of that. Maybe I could pass away in Bhaktitirtha Swami’s quarters in Gita-nagari. I’ll see how I feel if I get a good warning of the end. The Will also says that I “request that I be allowed to die and not be kept alive by artificial means... including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), etc., etc..... Death is as much a reality as birth, growth, maturity and old age — it is the one certainty. I do not fear death as much as I fear the indignity of deterioration and hopeless pain... I ask that a tape playing the holy names of Lord Krishna, sung or spoken by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, be played close to my ear constantly, or transcendental sound vibrations such as Srimad-Bhagavatam be mercifully administered to me without cessation up till the moment of my death. It is most essential that I be surrounded by Vaisnava-devotees of Lord Krishna as much as possible.” I appointed two devotees to make decisions to administer or refuse medical treatment, food or liquid should I become incapable of making a decision.

The lady who notorized the documents for us said, “I hope you never have to use them.”

Bhaktitirtha Swami’s passing away lasted for months. He gave lectures, wrote emails on the Internet, had lots of personal meetings with visitors — came closer to Krishna — and suffered. He had Radhanatha Swami as a special friend staying with him at Gita-nagari and visiting him every day. His personal attendants went through roller coasters of emotions as they watched his body wasting away, cancer with a partly amputed leg, broken collar bone... I spoke to him on the phone on a weekly basis. We restored our intimate friendship. He said he prayed to become purified and to take on the karma of others, and then his cancer began. He died in good surroundings, as indicated in my living will.

My operation tomorrow is not a serious thing. But I have to fast from midnight until about 3:00 or 4:00 P.M. the next day. Fasting isn’t recommended for migraineurs. I have to go into the hospital at 11:15 A.M., and the procedure won’t begin until 1:00 P.M. They have to take x-rays (to make sure the kidney stone is still there), and I have go to through other pre-op steps. It will be an inconvenient day, but they say I won’t feel pain until it’s over (unless I get a headache).

    7:32 P.M.

It was a long day in the hospital. We arrived there at 11:15 A.M. and didn’t get out until 4:00 or 5:00 P.M. The first thing I had to do was get x-rays to make sure that the large kidney stone was still there. Then I went immediately into a small compartment, where I lay down in a bed on wheels. First I was told to take off all my clothes except my socks and put on a operating gown. Then I lay down, and three nurses came in the room and busied themselves with preparations for my procedure. They asked me various questions. I was repeatedly asked whether this was the first time I had undergone this procedure, and they asked other questions that I had answered before. Then they stuck the IV needle into a vein in the back of my right hand. After some more preliminaries, they all left me to lie there for forty-five minutes alone with Baladeva. He read to me for awhile and we talked. Finally it was past 1:00 and time for me to go into the operating room. When we went through the swinging doors, Baladeva had to stay behind. Then I was asked more questions and told that as soon as my doctor arrived, we would go into the operating room and the procedure would begin. I waited some more in the bed, and finally the doctor showed up. She told me what to expect, and we rolled into the large operating room. There I had to get out of my bed and lie down on a platform, which was next to the machine that pulverizes the kidney stone. They told me they had taken more x-rays and had crosshairs for an exact location of the target. They said the machine would pound it three thousand times and smash it into smithereens. They said I might experience black and blue bruises, and even bleeding as a result of it, so I should expect that. Then they put the “medicine” or sedative into the IV, and I don’t remember anything after that .

    20080919_2.JPG

The procedure lasted over an hour and consisted of loud poundings, none of which I heard. The next thing I remember was I woke up, and I thought I was waking up from an afternoon nap in the yellow submarine. “It’s over,” they said, and I was wheeled out into another room, where I had to go through “phase 2,” which was recuperation from the operation and the sedative. I felt wide awake and felt great. I had no pain in my back and felt ready to go home. But they said I had to wait. A nurse gave me a cup of apple juice to drink — the first food or liquid I had taken since 6:30 the previous night. It tasted delicious. After I underwent phase 2, they wheeled me back to the original compartment where I had undressed. I was allowed to dress, but there we discovered a disastrous event. Baladeva had misplaced my dentures. They had a closet to put them in, but I thought it would be safer to give them to Baladeva to hold. He had put them in his book bag and had somehow lost them. He retraced his steps to the cafeteria, the gift shop, looked through trash cans, our car parked outside, but could not find them. The nurse checked a few places also and commisserated with us.

I said to Baladeva, “I am very angry at you. Do you know what this means?” He looked very forlorn and was determined to keep searching. He said there was one place left, and that was a Latino bodega where he had done some shopping while I was in the operation room. He bought some plantains there. He said if it wasn’t there, he would bring me home and then come back to the hospital and make a more thorough search. The box the dentures were in had my name and phone number on it, so there was some hope there. With little hope, he entered the bodega and in a few minutes came out smiling and holding the box. He said that they didn’t speak English in there but when he walked in, their faces brightened, and the man flapped his hands to indicate a set of teeth. I told Baladeva that he had been on the s_ _ _t list in my mind for doing this, but now he was forgiven. During the car ride home, I punched him several times on the arm to vent my anger and pleasure at recovering the dentures. The denture loss overwhelmed the success of the operation. They gave us a lot of prescriptions for pain, nausea, antibiotics, and other things to get us through the next few days. We don’t know for sure if the whole stone was broken up, but we will discover that as I urinate over the next few days. But from my point of view, it seemed to be an easy thing to go through, except for the long waits and the suspense at the end of the day whether we would recover the dentures. Now I’m back home with orders to drink two full glasses of liquid every hour. Of course I finished chanting my rounds on returning and said my gayatri.

We’ve quit reading The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway, at mealtimes. Baladeva dubbed it, “The Diary of a Barfly.” It’s about a group of American expatriates who are always drinking liquor in the Parisian cafes and then wandering down to Spain to see the bullfights, and all of them enamored by a floozy named Lady Brett Ashley. The characters and action are superficial. It’s amazing that the literary critics say, “The Sun Also Rises is one of Ernest Hemingway’s masterpieces... and helped to establish Hemingway as one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century.” We’ve switched to Charles Dickens’ Hard Times and find it much more rewarding. From the Introduction by Karen Odden: “Set amid smokestacks and factories, Charles Dickens’ Hard Times is a blistering portrait of Victorian England as it struggles with the massive economic turmoil brought on by the Industrial Revolution.... Full of suspense, humor and tenderness, Hard Times is a brilliant defense of art in an age of mechanism.” The whole treatment is more civil and moral than Hemingway, and Dickens is a master of English prose.

    Free Write

My japa at the beach this morning was good. I have been feeling too tired to vibrate the mantra from my chest, but today I was hearty, and they were coming out loud and clear. I was moving toward attention to the mahamantra. I don’t know if this was just a matter of physical strength, but I hope it keeps up. When I’m fatigued, I tend to think vigorous chanting will bring on exertion headaches. When I am chanting strong, it’s like another person is with me, pushing out the prayers. Nine rounds streamed out in this fashion, and then it was time to feed the seagulls and return to the house. I’ll see if I can keep it up for the remainder.

Good health is so important for bhajana. You can read attentively and study what you read. And partly it’s determination, moral concentration. I want to finish my rounds and prepare sections of the Bhagavad-gita for Italy.

I need to undergo more x-rays to see if the operation was successful in destroying the kidney stone and then go to a postoperation appointment with the doctor on Octobert 6. My urine is red now, and a few pieces or sand are coming out, but no pain. It seems I was lucky. Last night, in saying goodnight to Baladeva, I sarcastically said, “Thanks for finding my dentures.” He replied, “It proves once again that Krishna is God.” Dattatreya just told me that the whole thing shook Baladeva up so much he couldn’t sleep last night. He said it put the fear of God into him when I looked at him and told him I was angry with him.

A disciple of mine wrote to me last January and told me her relationship with me was no longer the same. She had lost the “innocence” of the guru-disciple bond. She was hurt and disappointed that I fell and that I waited for years to tell the full, unvarnished truth about it. Yesterday she wrote me a more comforting letter. She says she still thinks of me with affection on a human and personal level and reads my online journal and thinks of me often. I wrote her back that perhaps with time, she will find more forgiveness and our relationship will become closer. But the letter was sweet and a relief. I wish all the disaffected disciples would respond as she did.

I continue reading and enjoying Resting at Mendocino. I’m probably the most favorable reader of my own books. They take you on a ride, and I’m surprised on rereading them how Krishna conscious they are. I only wish more people read them. The ISKCON world prefers the books I used to write, before my more free style. But I can’t turn back and write the way I used to. I have to write what interests me and gives me more juice, although all within the parampara.

The people at Millford Hospital were all so nice and friendly, even the janitors said “hello” in greeting. The whole place has a homely atmosphere, with all the doctors and nurses displaying excellent and genuine bedside manner. I couldn’t help but feel these were good people, even though they are not devotees of Krishna. There is a lot of goodness in the world, and “good” people. We should not be fanatical and dislike them, even though in ignorance they have bad habits. My day at the hospital could have been an ordeal but was made pleasant by contact with all the friendly people, who made every effort to make me comfortable.

Maitreya Muni said to Vidura that because of his attempt by inquiries, the transcendental pastimes of the Lord were becoming newer and newer at every moment. He considered the company of Vidura most desirable because his association accelerated dormant propensities for devotional service. Maitreya said, “Let me now begin speaking on the Bhagavata Purana, which was directly spoken to the great sages by the Personality of Godhead for the benefit of those who are entangled in extreme miseries for the sake of very little pleasure.” Sri Maitreya Muni, out of compassion for the suffering people in the world, proposed to speak on the Srimad-Bhagavatam. He said that some time ago, Sanat-kumara, accompanied by other great sages, inquired exactly like you about the truths regarding Vasudeva, the Supreme, from Lord Sankarsana, who is seated at the bottom of the universe. The boy sages had come down from the highest planets to the lowest, on the water of the Ganges, and therefore the hair on their heads was wet. The Ganges is the only celestial river which flows throughout the universe, and great sages travel all over the universe via this sacred river. The four Kumaras, headed by Sanat-kumara, glorified the Lord with selected words full of affection and love. At that time, Lord Sankarsana, with His thousands of raised hoods, began to radiate an effulgence from the glowing stones on His head. (SB 3.8.6.) Lord Sankarsana there spoke the meaing of Srimad-Bhagavatam to Sanat-kumara, and Sanat-kumara in his turn, when inquired of by Sankhyayana Muni, explained Srimad-Bhagavatam as he had heard it from Sankarsana. When Sankhyayana was describing the glories of the Lord in terms of Srimad-Bhagavatam, it so happened that Maitreya’s spiritual master, Parasara, and Brhaspati both heard him. And so Maitreya, having heard Srimad-Bhagavatam from Parasara, decided to describe it to Vidura. So Srimad-Bhagavatam was being narrated from time immemorial through the disciplic succession, even before the time of Vyasadeva. The so-called historians calculate the Puranas to be only a few hundred years old, but factually, the Puranas existed from time immemorial, before all historical calculations by the mundaners and speculators.

“At that time, when the three worlds were submerged in water, Garbhodakasaya Visnu was alone, lying on His bedstead, the great snake Ananta, and although He appeared to be in slumber in His own internal potency, free from the action of the external energy, His eyes were not completely closed” (SB 3.8.10). The subtle matter of creation, on which the Lord’s attention was fixed, was agitated by the material mode of passion, and thus the subtle form of creation pierced through His abdomen. This took the shape of the bud of a lotus flower generated from the Personality of Visnu, and it illuminated everything, like the sun and dried up the vast waters of devastation. Into that universal lotus flower Lord Visnu personally entered as the Supersoul, and when it was thus impregnated with all the modes of material nature, Lord Brahma appeared. Born out of the lotus flower, Lord Brahma could not see the world, although he was situated in the whorl. He therefore circumambulated all of space and achieved four heads, but he could not perfectly understand the creation, the lotus, or himself. A human being, or even a demigod, is so limited in his capacity that without the help of the Supreme he can hardly understand the mystery of the will of the Lord in terms of creation. In his ignorance, Lord Brahma contemplated as to who he was and why he was situated on the top of this lotus and why it had sprouted. He thought there must be something downwards, and so he entered the water through the channel of the stem of the lotus. But in spite of entering the stem and going nearer to the navel of Visnu, he could not trace out the root. Being unable to achieve the desired destination, he stopped his searching and came back again to the top of the lotus. Then, controlling his mind, he concentrated his mind on the Supreme Lord. In the purport, Prabhupada writes, “Samadhi involves concentrating the mind upon the supreme cause of all, even if one is unaware of whether His actual nature is personal, impersonal or localized. Concentration of the mind on the Supreme is certainly a form of devotional service” (SB 3.8.21, purport). At the end of Brahma’s one hundred years, when his meditation was complete, he developed the required knowledge and could see the Supreme within himself. He saw on the water the gigantic lotuslike white bedstead, the body of Sesa-naga, on which the Personality of Godhead was lying alone. In a purport, Prabhupada writes, “The panoramic beauty of nature, which strikes one with wonder, may be taken as a perverted reflection of the transcendental body of the Lord. One who is therefore attracted by the beauty of the Lord is no longer attracted by the beauty of material nature, although he does not minimize its beauty” (SB 3.8.24, purport). The Lord’s transcendental body was unlimited in length and breadth and occupied the three planetary systems. His body was self-illuminated by unparalleled dress and was properly ornamented. “He also acknowledged the service of the devotees and vanquished their distress by His beautiful smile” (SB 3.8.27). There is continuous transcendental competition between the Lord and His devotees by such reciprocation of service and acknowledgement. Lord Brahma was overwhelmed by the beauty of Lord Visnu, and he simultaneously glanced over the creation. He saw the lake in Lord Visnu’s navel, the lotus flower, as well as the devastating water, the drying air and the sky. Being surcharged with the mode of passion, Lord Brahma became inclined to create, and he offered his respectful prayers on the path of the creative mentality.

Well although Kesava Krsna Prabhu looks like a really young man, he should know that it is mainly the GBC who reports about falldowns and suspended gurus. In case of Dhanurdhar Swami and Umapati Swami it was also the GBC who made different postings. In case of HH Satsvarupa Swami, it is he himself who is posting his thoughts if he is a bonafide spiritual master or not http://www.sdgonline.org/news.html .

In sum it is the GBC who causes all this faultfinding, who otherwise would know about all this without the GBC reporting it?

    Thx for the predictions Vic

The catholic church released a strong statement, in regards to the financial crisis.

They said it was due to 'greed'.

This is yet another avocation, deflection, distraction, diversion. The catholic church is part of the banking system. This is not a religion but a business.

If they speak of greed it is utter mockery!

  4.

what i'm saying is that you should get into Krishna katha! =) not muth-katha. i'm saying it in a friendly way. take it to heart, with love. THAT is the real problem with the "institutions" and that's what needs to be corected first.

    Jai Radhey

Prabhupada's ship is hijacked by buccaneers who keep long hair and look similar like your avatar.

Did you ever hear when a ship is hijacked all people telling you, stop ranting, forget your ship, do some little jogging or go swimming?

Only rascals would say that, to dispose a hijacked aircraft or a hijacked ship to the hijackers. Well, unless you were an accomplice of the hijackers you wouldnt have said this.

afflictions to aries, ruler of the 1st house and the first house will affect the head. and likely result in migranes. simple precept.
This is all unproven speculation and phantasy!

For me your "vedic astrologer" is knocked out. You reject Prabhupada when he says, compatibility of the elements is the central point in a partnership chart and when someone says, common sense, water kills fire, you say, you don't believe in such kind of thesis.

I would say, to buy a jyotish software program and to sell software generated charts doesnt make you an astrologer. Read Steven Arroyos books and learn real Astrology. Additionally they have in Jyotish/Indian Astrology "ayanamsa", counting back 20 degrees, yet another nonsense speculation of the astronomer's lodge.

In other words, people who have according Babylonian zodiac Aries rising have according Jyotish, Pisces rising etc etc. This is not genuine Astrology but check mate nonsense humbug, corrupted by the astronomer's lodge.

  6. At least modern science has become very sincere and always working hard to find evidence. Could be that one day they find out that the human brain is just too small for all this complex variety in God's creation. Although never admitting that there must be an intelligent creator, they should at least admit defeat, too stupid to prove anything.

    One Fish Becomes Two Fish

Red Fish, Blue Fish, One Fish Becomes Two Fish

    By Chandra Shekhar

    ScienceNOW Daily News

    1 October 2008

Beauty, as the saying goes, is in the eye of the beholder--and some fish have taken this idea to the extreme. Cichlids in Lake Victoria prefer males of different colors, which apparently led to separate species of blue and red cichlids. Researchers say the phenomenon provides evidence that differences in sensory perception--not just geography--can spark speciation. The fish in question live in Lake Victoria, which borders Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. It's a diverse environment with water tending to be bluish near the surface and reddish deeper down. That disparity is reflected in cichlids in some regions of the lake; evolutionary ecologist Ole Seehausen of the University of Bern in Switzerland and colleagues have found that males in shallow water tend to be blue during the mating season, whereas males in deep water typically take on a reddish cast. Females of both species are yellowish, but they prefer to mate with either blue or red males.

How did this happen? The team speculated that, over time, cichlid eyes adapted to either the bluish or the reddish ambient light, depending on where they lived. And indeed, when co-authors Yohey Terai and Norihiro Okada of the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan analyzed the fishes' retinas, they found that retinal pigments in shallow-water cichlids were more sensitive to blue wavelengths than those of their deep-water counterparts, which were tuned to red. As a result, females in shallow water would have an easier time noticing blue males, and deep-water females would have favored red males, the team reports in tomorrow's issue of Nature.

The males, for their part, would have evolved their colorations to suit the female taste. "Once this happens, these two groups no longer interbreed and so become new species," says study co-author Karen Carleton, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Maryland, College Park.

That adds a twist to the traditional view of how species form. Researchers usually link speciation to some sort of physical barrier, such as a river or mountain, which divides populations and causes them to evolve independently. What's more, the new study hints at how human activity could impact speciation, says Carleton: Water pollution, for example, could destroy the color gradients like those in Lake Victoria that spurred the evolution of the blue and red cichlids.

Trevor Price, an evolutionary ecologist at the University of Chicago in Illinois, says that the authors make a compelling case for speciation driven by sensory changes. However, he's not fully convinced that this can happen within a single population, as the authors suggest. He points out that the blue cichlids could have evolved in a different part of the lake and then spread into the range of the red ones, or vice versa. Nevertheless, Price says, the finding that the fishes' retinal pigments evolve to match the visual environment "is really cool."

  7. Melamine-Chemical Tainted Chinese Candies Recalled From American Stores

    September 30, 2008 9:25 a.m. EST

    Linda Young - AHN Editor

Burlingame, CA (AHN) - Tainted Chinese candies have been found in the United States, imported by a California company.

California-based Queensway Foods Company Inc., a U.S. distributor of White Rabbit Candy, has recalled every flavor of the Chinese-produced White Rabbit candy it had imported.

Testing found dangerous levels of the toxic industrial chemical melamine in the White Rabbit candy, state health officials said Monday.

Chinese candy manufacturer White Rabbit used melamine-tainted Chinese milk products in production of its candies. Melamine was illegally added to milk and milk products in China to boost the protein content to command higher prices.

When the industrial chemical is added to food products, it boosts the apparent protein content. Melamine was the chemical found in pet food products imported from China that sickened and killed numerous American dogs and cats.

In recalling the White Rabbit candies, Queensway was responding to consumer warnings from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the California Department of Health and the San Mateo Public Health Department.

Consumption of melamine can cause illness ranging from kidney stones to kidney failure and death.

There have been no reports of illness in the United States linked to White Rabbit candies, which Queensway distributed to California, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Texas, and Washington state.

In China, melamine-tainted milk products have recently sickened and killed babies.

  8.

He was saying some of the younger generation of these families that control the corporate media and the political scene are revolting against the genocidal policies of their NWO seniors and that things will get resolved and not be as bad it currently looks to be going. He even said that Barrack Obama is not as bad as people think he is just that he has to work within narrow paramaters even though he is currently taking orders from the NWO things should change and Obama could really end up being a good leader and solve a lot of problems but he requires more power and authority to make these changes happen. He also said that the outrage of the American people about this wall street bailout is really making a difference in the plans of the NWO and waking the NWO up that the American people are not going to go silently into the concentration camps etc. He said the bailout was pure crap and that the only thing really needed is 100 billion to clean up mortgage mess and raise the Fdic insurance up to 500,000.

I have heard a lot about how this millenial generation is special and is going to end up being very civic minded and harmonious generation and clean up the mess and disharmony that the baby boomers have left behind. Hope this guy is for real and not just a government shill or something because a lot of the other guys are saying the government is ready to round up Americans and put them in Fema camps and declare martial law.

This is all diverting attention on the real issue, NWO. New World Order, yet another rant? The actual issue is what is described in the Old Testament as sin, when let's say, a young family opens a bakery and they have to take a loan in order to get things started. The OT says, charging of interest from fellow citizens is sinful.

Now what we have globally installed by the banker's network, a monetary system based upon interest. Even the state has to borrow from the bankers against interest, when using its own currency - therefore you find everything indebted.

Chanakya Pundit says, living with debt is not acceptable. The Old Testament says, someone who manoeuvres fellow citizens into the debt trap by charging interest should be killed.

Take India, the bankers who installed the Rupee charge interest to the Indian government not only for running the currency, but also when the government takes a loan.

In this way it so happened that all the gold reserves of India were meanwhile shipped to London. Now since all the gold is off shored, the government has to compensate with natural produce and privatization of state owned companies like the Indian Railway, state run powerhouses, natural preserves, seashores etc etc.

But what for? Simply paying till the rest of time for a handful of people printing paper money and charging more and more interest.

So in sum new world order means the bankers want more money. And what are they doing, basically nothing, just printing paper money out of thin air and charging interest so that finally everybody is indebted just by carrying paper money in the wallet.

NWO= all the people are indebted.

  9.

The dogs may bark but the caravan continues on

They shouldn't bark but just explain their idea that "Krishna's guru successors" are "2/3 show of hands voted in" - by a panel of people very prone to making mistakes, if not sometimes even engaging in sinful activity.

How could a guru be first of all be voted in by such a panel and then "monitored, chastised, censured, and excommunicated" by said, -- since isn't it stated on every page of sastra that the guru is taking direct dictation from Krishna?

And why would that panel have the authority to over-ride the direct dictation of God to censure GOD's direct guru successors?

All this creates the result that they have lost people's faith in this kind of spirituality. After all, isn't this the core of a spiritual movement, how the parampara system is perfectly continued?

And therefore you find them so busy trying to impress the public with buildings, erecting hollow façades to cover up the antagonism. In other words, they are fully conscious about their mistake but try to hide it.

  10.

There is a story that Krishna met a hunchback woman and cured her because of which she again looked beautiful.

Can you tell me what she was in her previous birth? Is it written in any scripture?

I remember reading in Brahm Vaivart Puran that Surpanakha was reborn as Kubja. Somewhere (don't remember where), I read that Manthara was reborn as Kunja. I have also read that she was an expansion of Satyabhama. Are all these correct? If yes, how do you reconcile these?

It is probably only possible when stated by a great Vaishnava or sastra.

At http://www.stephen-knapp.com it says that Kubja was later reborn as Kashi Mishra. To take part in Caitanya lila is very special and this Kubja in Krsna lila must have been a very advanced devotee.

    http://www.stephen-knapp.com/Brahma_Madhva_Gaudiya_Disciplic_Succession.htm

Vasudeva Datta was the incarnation of Prahlada Maharaja.

Raghunatha Vaidya was formerly Revati, the wife of Lord Balarama.

Kashi Mishra was formerly the hunchback, Kubja, during Krishna's time.

Bhavananda Raya was formerly Pandu, and his five sons, namely Ramananda Raya, Pattanayaka Gopinatha, Kalanidhi, Subhanidhi, and Nayaka Vaninatha, were formerly the five Pandavas.

Lord Caitanya's family brother, Vishvarupa, son of Jagannatha Mishra, was an incarnation of Baladeva, Krishna's brother.

  11.

what is the relation Navaratri comes before Dasare and Ram Navami

    any body can clarify:idea:

Thanks Praveen k shukla, you're welcome!

The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit; Nava meaning Nine and Ratri meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti-Devi are being worshipped.

Ram Navami falls on the ninth day of the Hindu lunar year thus named Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami. Ram Navami is the celebration of the birthday of Lord Rama.

Why Lord Ramacandra has His appearance day after Navaratri, this is the material world, there's always, past presence and future. In the spiritual world there's no such duality.

The Song of God as Journey of Discipleship: Bhagavad-gita and Christian Perspectives

This is an essay I wrote for a seminar, “Christ in Light of Hindu Theology” at the Graduate Theological Union in 1997. Professor Francis X. Clooney, S.J., who later became my doctoral supervisor, led the seminar. This is an exploratory essay, preliminary thoughts on a theme that could be developed further.

Krsna Kshetra das deeply dives into Christian mysticism and to utilize parallels of the teachings of Lord Jesus to compare with Bhagavad-gita and Vedic siddhanta.

When it comes to the position of Lord Jesus being worshiped by priests=ritviks, Krishna Kshetra Das classifies this worship as useless waste of time since Lord Jesus is dead and gone and not physically among us.

In other words, there're huge essays being written about parallels between the teachings of Christ and the Vedas but in fact Christ is considered as dead and gone and no relationship possible.

De facto what does this mean, the whole Christian religion is considered as bogus humbug. But why not being honest to say it, what is the problem to say, this whole thing should be rejected?

Instead we find lengthy articles about comparative religious study of Bible/Vedas, and, "preliminary thoughts on a theme that could be developed further."

When it comes to followers of Prabhupada who consider Prabhupada should be worshiped like Jesus, there's no essay being written. This is even classified as poison, demoniac and members of ISKCON have to sign that they won't indulge into the "ritvik doctrine", otherwise they will be banned from ISKCON.

This is rather diplomacy, people are afraid to announce that Christianity is also nothing but ritvik poison and rather write books about parallels between the Old Testament and Vedic knowledge, but in fact totally rejecting Christ as dead and gone.

What makes me raise this question, how someone can possibly have any vital force in view of carrying around all day such a heavy load of antagonism within his head?

  13. Isnt this the actual reason for all this oil drilling, the globalization network needs jet fuel, without airfreight the whole globalization idea falls apart.

They would have changed car fuel long ago but because they couldn't manage any replacement for jet fuel what needs parameters such as freeze point, density, flash point, energy content they also kept the petrol for cars like in 1890.

EERC Creates First 100% Renewable Jet Fuel

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — The Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) at the University of North Dakota has achieved a major technical milestone in creating a 100% renewable domestic fuel that meets the JP-8 aviation fuel screening criteria, proving a pathway to providing energy security to the U.S. military and the entire nation.

EERC fuel samples created from multiple renewable feedstocks were tested at a U.S. government facility to evaluate key specification parameters for JP-8, a petroleum-based fuel widely used by the U.S. military. JP-8 specifications include parameters such as freeze point, density, flash point, energy content, and others; all of which were met by the EERC fuel samples.

The EERC fuel was produced under a $4.7 million contract with the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The Department of Defense is the largest consumer of petroleum in America, and securing a domestic fuel source is a key operational challenge for the military. Production is now under way to produce a large fuel sample for engine testing this fall.

“This builds on a solid foundation of expertise at the EERC in the area of alternative fuel production,” said EERC Director Gerald Groenewold. “The EERC is now uniquely positioned to provide drop-in-compatible JP-8 fuel from both fossil and renewable feedstocks, providing critical strategic opportunities for the U.S. military as well as commercial aviation.”

The technology takes advantage of feedstock chemistry to reduce capital and operating expenses. The feedstock-flexible process can use various crop oils and waste greases. The process can be tailored to produce combinations of propane, gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel that are identical to petroleum-derived fuels, enabling direct substitution with existing fuels and providing renewable options across the spectrum of fuel needs.

The EERC is actively exploring partnerships with the private sector to move into full-scale production of the fuel. Preliminary negotiations are under way with feedstock suppliers and oil refineries. Talks of building a large-scale Advanced Tactical Fuels Production Complex are ongoing.

    About the EERC

The EERC is recognized as one of the world’s leading developers of cleaner, more efficient energy technologies as well as environmental technologies to protect and clean our air, water, and soil. The EERC, a high-tech, nonprofit division of the University of North Dakota (UND), operates like a business and pursues an entrepreneurial, market-driven approach to research and development in order to successfully demonstrate and commercialize innovative technologies. Since 1987, the EERC has had over 1000 clients in all 50 states and 50 countries. In FY2008, more than 80 percent of its contracts were funded by nonfederal entities. The EERC’s current contract portfolio is more than $227 million. www.undeerc.org.

There has undoubtedly been a long period of religious insanity in India. Ironicallyt, it has not resulted from a lack of worshipping God.

Thanks Swami Thayalan, brilliant article, good points, just want to add one thing, the erstwhile ancient world, Babylonia, cradle of Islam/Christianity - Egypt, Syria, Lybia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Marocco, Ethiopia.

All these nations were once luscious, fertile vegetable gardens with lakes, fruit trees, waterfalls and honey bees. What happend now after cow killing became the center of their "religious sacrifice"?

The total ancient world became desert with no more rain and not one blade of gras growing - all the nations around the Mediterranian sea, biblical droughts since hundreds of years. Every single nation where Islam and Christianity was practiced for thousands of years became a baneful dessert, a valley of death.

So what happened all the people of these destroyed nations went to India, Northern Europe, US, Australia, South America and guess what, carry with them that very same energy of destruction.

Take California, Florida, the most beautiful countries of US where the elite is residing, no more rain since three years! Same in India, since the Muslim aggressively started to buy the cows from poverty stricken Hindu farmers, the climate plays havoc.

    Rivers poluted, groundwater poluted.

Actually why the groundwater is polluted? Because the farmers were forced to give up their cowherds who prvided natural fertilizer they needed chemical fertilizer.

This fertilizer changes the soil so it doesnt store water anymore, the water runs like full spead through the soil so speak and the artificial fertilization has to be increased constantly. Therefore people can't drink groundwater anymore, they got poisoned by all these chemicals from foreign chemical industries.

In sum, if things are not changed back to vedic culture India will become like the cradle of Islam/Christianity, Egypt, Marocco, Lybia etc. - a lunar landscape without one drop of rain.

Already millions of Hindus are leaving the country for good...

The soul is the cause of all bodily organization and complexity.

Complexity - but to what extent, this would have required a hundred times more effort to transport into people's brain cells. Actually the Jehovah's witnesses adopted now in their magazine Prabhupada's idea to not parrot the term "complexity", but to actually present sensations, miracles of nature and natural wonders to substantiate God's presence in everything. Stephen Bernath's contribution in this regard:

A New Argument for Design in Biological Systems

    http://krishnascience.com/3_New_Argument_for_Design.html

    <big>Stephen Bernath</big><small>

    </small><big>sbernath1212@</big>

The following design argument is atypical. It is not based on the principal of irreducible complexity, nor does it require evolution to produce a specific organ/organelle. It calculates the probability of evolution producing a certain level of biological complexity and compares this probability with the number of trials available for evolution to that level. Please approach it with a completely open mind.

An E. coli bacterium has around 4,000 protein-coding genes, a mouse has around 24,000, a chicken has around 19,000, zebrafish 22,000, and man 24,000 (Brown, 2007). These numbers are likely to be refined with further research; for example, the latest estimate for man is >18,000 protein-coding genes (Segal et al, 2008). Nevertheless, it is clear that any one of the thousands of extant vertebrate species possesses at least 10,000 more protein-coding genes than a bacterium. The primordial single-celled organism from which all these vertebrate species evolved was roughly similar to a modern bacterium. Thus, at least 10,000 protein-coding genes must have been added during the course of evolution from a primordial single-celled organism to produce any of the thousands of extant vertebrate species.

During the course of evolution, a new gene arose by processes such as the duplication of an existing gene followed by exon shuffling, point mutations and other mutations. After a new gene appeared in an individual, the rate at which this gene spread throughout the population depended on how beneficial it was to this individual, as well as how beneficial other genes in that individual were relative to the rest of the population. Even a very beneficial gene spread very slowly or not at all if it was in an individual whose overall genetic makeup was much less fit than the average. Conversely, an inferior gene can become prominent in the population if it is in an individual whose overall genetic makeup is far superior to the norm. The phenomenon in which an inferior gene rises to prominence by virtue of its association with other genes that happen to confer a fitness advantage is called “hitchhiking” in the discipline known as population genetics. The probability that a new gene was produced by mutations and subsequently spread throughout a population was obviously less than the simple probability of its production by mutations.

What is this probability? Many studies have explored the effects of deleting various combinations of the genes responsible for DNA proof-reading and repair. These studies found that the maximum mutation rate per generation per gene for extant bacteria is 10-3 (Marcobal et al, 2008). This is the rate in bacteria undergoing extreme hardship, such as starvation; when released from such duress they return to their normal mutation rate of 10-6 per generation per gene. Mutation rates for vertebrates (whether normal or under duress) are never greater than those for bacteria. Let us assume that one mutation of probability 10-3 was sufficient to produce a new gene useful for vertebrate evolution.

So, the probability that evolution produced any vertebrate species is 10-3 multiplied by itself 10,000 times, which equals 10-30,000.

Would this probability be significantly greater if, during the course of evolution, extensive lateral gene transfer between dissimilar organisms had occurred? Although gene transfer was involved in prokaryotic and single-celled eukaryotic evolution, it does not appear to have played a significant role in the evolution of vertebrates (Andersson, 2005; Kurland et al, 2003; Salzberg et al, 2001; Kurland, 2000). Even if it had played a significant role, it is not clear it would have increased the probability of vertebrate evolution, since the donated genes must have undergone an evolutionary process in the donor organism, and the probability is very small that the donor organism just happened to encounter, and then successfully transfer, the needed genes into a suitable receiving organism. Genetic exchange between dissimilar vertebrates is not as simple as it is between bacteria, which have a special organelle for this, namely the pilus. Moreover, organisms do not maintain for long periods of time functional versions of genes that are not useful for them. Thus, it appears that suitable donors and receivers need to meet at the right time, which requires events of very low probability.

The probability of vertebrate evolution starting from the Big Bang is much less than 10-30,000 since we must multiply 10-30,000 by two factors: (A) the probability that the Big Bang’s initial parameters were such that they produce a star with a planet with a primordial soup, and (B) the probability of the appearance of a bacterium in this soup. Both of these factors are believed to be very small; by some estimates, they are as small as 10-30,000. We did not attempt to calculate them since, at present, there is insufficient information.

What is the significance of this probability? Imagine you are flipping coins with two of your friends and you desire a particular result, namely all heads up. The probability that your coin will be heads up on any flip is ½, which is also the probability of heads up for each of your two friends. Thus, a trial in this case consists of three coins being flipped by three people. The probability that all three coins will be heads up on any trial is ½ times ½ times ½, which is 1/8. If you and your friends perform dozens of trials, you will notice that, on the average, out of every eight trials, one trial has all heads up. Eight is the reciprocal of 1/8. If four people are flipping, you will find that, on the average, out of every 16 trials, one trial has all four heads up. If ten people are flipping, you will find that out of every 1000 trials, one trial has all 10 heads up. If 1000 people are flipping, you will find that, out of every 10300 trials, one trial has all 1000 coins with heads up. Thus, we arrive at the very important rule that, if the number of trials is of the same order of magnitude as the reciprocal of the probability of a particular result, that result is expected to occur on one of the trials simply by chance, without design being involved. This is standard statistics (see any textbook on statistics). So, design can be inferred when the number of trials is many orders of magnitude smaller than the reciprocal of the probability. For example, if you and a thousand friends are flipping coins and all of you get heads up within the first ten trials, you would suspect design.

Thus, to avoid the conclusion that vertebrates were designed, of the order of 1030,000 evolution-supporting planets must now exist or have existed in the past, which requires: (A) a single large universe with that many planets, each of which exhibits some stage of evolution from the primordial soup up to vertebrates, or (B) nearly that many small universes, each of which has a few such planets, or © a small universe with a few such planets that had undergone nearly that many Big Crunches and subsequent Big Bangs. Regarding (A), only a few hundred extra-solar planets have been detected so far. Since it becomes more difficult to detect a planet the further from the earth it is, we can safely conclude that there is no way that even an insignificant fraction of 1030,000 evolution-supporting planets will be detected within the next few decades. The speed at which light reaches us and the speed at which electrons move through semiconductors in our computers impose fundamental limits on the speed at which even the best equipment can operate. Suppose this equipment can identify a new planet every pico-second (10-12 seconds), which is an outrageous rate far beyond present or conceivable technology. This still means that we must wait 1029,980 years to identify the number of planets needed for the chance hypothesis. Regarding (B), the unambiguous detection of a few other universes is presently considered difficult work, if it can be done at all, not to mention observing life on planets within those universes (Aguirre et al, 2007). Even if we had equipment capable of identifying a suitable planet in another universe every pico-second, we would still have to wait 1029,980 years to verify the existence of the number of evolution-supporting planets required for the chance hypothesis. Regarding ©, even if each pico-second we could verify that our universe had, in the past, undergone a cycle of Big Crunch and subsequent Big Bang, we would still have to wait 1029,980 years to verify the existence of the number of cycles required for the chance hypothesis. This means that the chance hypothesis is effectively unverifiable. Unverifiable hypotheses are scorned in science and quickly discarded when a verifiable hypothesis arrives. Hence, if there is a verifiable way to contact the designer, then the design hypothesis is superior to the chance hypothesis.

NoD 11 Aspects of Transcendental Service

In the Skanda Purana there is a statement praising the tulasi tree as follows: "Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto the tulasi tree, which can immediately vanquish volumes of sinful activities. Simply by seeing or touching this tree one can become relieved from all distresses and diseases. SIMPLY BY OFFERING OBEISANCES TO AND POURING WATER ON THE TULASI TREE, ONE CAN BECOME FREED FROM THE FEAR OF BEING SENT TO THE COURT OF YAMARAJA [THE KING OF DEATH, WHO PUNISHES THE SINFUL]. If someone sows a tulasi tree somewhere, certainly he becomes devoted to Lord Krsna. And when the tulasi leaves are offered in devotion at the lotus feet of Krsna, there is the full development of love of Godhead."

In the Skanda Purana there is another statement about tulasi, as follows: "Tulasi is auspicious in all respects. Simply by seeing, simply by touching, simply by remembering, simply by praying to, simply by bowing before, simply by hearing about or simply by sowing this tree, THERE IS ALWAYS AUSPICIOUSNESS. Anyone who comes in touch with the tulasi tree in the above-mentioned ways lives eternally in the Vaikuntha world."

    Amy de Miceli – opednews.com September 26, 2008

What does the rest of the world know that we don't? The United States Dollar is dead.

While we are being jerked around by the mainstream media here at home, the rest of the world has already drawn the final conclusion for us, and what they are saying about us isn't pretty.

We are in the middle of a crisis much larger than most Americans could imagine, a portion of America can't even handle it, for that matter. The Bailout is an awful idea, and the majority of Americans realize that. There is even a provision that would grant Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson dictatorial powers, and that is obviously insane, but here we are debating it. It's like asking a dead man whether he wants to be buried or cremated; it's a non issue and Congress is just playing a game to distract the American people. We need to move ahead, and we should begin with taking our country back from the tyrants.

Hank Paulson has already taken control of the US banking system; journalist and expert economist Max Keiser compares Paulson to the 9/11 hijackers, calling him a financial terrorist. Keiser has been making his rounds on international broadcasts, including France 24 and Press TV where he compares the collapse of the US banking system to WTC 7 - "a controlled demolition."

Our news is being filtered and the rest of the world is ready to write us off. China has asked domestic banks to stop lending to U.S. financial institutions to prevent losses. America has relied on borrowing money from foreign lenders, and China was one of the largest. We have put ourselves in debt to China, and now they have cut us off.

Meanwhile, the President of the United States is trying to scare the American people, threatening: support the Bailout or face more bank failures and a stock market crash; 401Ks will evaporate; home prices will plummet and foreclosures will rise. Sadly we face all of these things plus much worse, with or without the bailout, and our president is deceiving us and he's being aided by the media.

During his speech on Wednesday, Bush claimed to have been informed by, "The government's top economic experts" and they are warning us, "without immediate action...America could slip into a financial panic and a distressing scenario would unfold."

These experts are the same ones that led us to this economic crisis. Many have been predicting this collapse for years. Let's listen to some other economists. Yesterday Senator Shelby, ranking Republican on the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, met with the President and brought with him a 5 page list of the nation's leading economists, who do not agree with the Bailout Proposal and have offered alternatives.

The veil has been lifted for those who have eyes to see it. We are being shown who is in control of America, and it is what many of us know already - the bankers- the central bank. It is a sickening display.

Right now we are relying on the rest of the world. If they continue to dump or threaten to dump our dollar, we are sunk, and if our representatives pass the Bailout and the Fed "prints" all those billions of dollars, (trillions when its all said and done) we are sunk. Our dollar will be worthless. Either way they are taking it to zero.

It is not an ideal situation but we are in it and there are other factors bringing us to our knees.

According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA) our gasoline inventories are the lowest since 1967. The southeast is running out of gas; Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in North Carolina has shut down; and AAA reports that Nashville TN has the worst gas shortage, 85% of the gas stations are closed, and where you can find fuel, the wait can be 4 hours long. Add that to the flood damaged wheat, corn and soybean crops and our supermarket shelves will be thin. What will happen when we are hungry and broke? They would expect us to be upset about that. Bush can declare himself a dictator at any time, according to PDD 51, and implement martial law for any reason. In early September an article from the Army Times went virtually unnoticed for a couple of weeks. They reported that troops will soon be patrolling our streets:

"The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys. Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home.

Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or man-made emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks."

We are on our own, people. Congress is merely making a final attempt at looking sincere, as they have been profiting all along. The main stream media has no loyalty to America either. Their strings are pulled the same way by the same people. America has been hijacked. We have lost everything, and now they want to leave us broke and homeless on the continent our forefathers conquered.

We cannot let that happen. Get the mist out of your eyes and Stand.

Ah then perhaps you are not aware that the 1st Bhava/Rashi is fire, 2nd is earth, 3rd is air, 4th is water?

"Ah then perhaps you are not aware that the 1st Bhava/Rashi is fire, 2nd is earth, 3rd is air, 4th is water?"

To say "1st Bhava/Rashi is fire" is not correct. The Bhava is fire, but the Rashi might be something else. It is through the Rashis (signs) that the planets express their nature, not through the bhavas, houses.

Yes, you're right 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th are assigned to fire, earth, air and water.

But, the quality of planets is immediately changed when these houses/bhavas have different signs/rashis.

Why do you interpret let's say Moon in 4th house to be in water element when the sign says, Moon in Aries? When Moon is in the sign Aries it is in fiery element, although 4th house is assigned to water element.

  20. What is Consciousness Studies?

    A brief explanatory note

    http://www.bvinst.edu/

1.0 Introduction We conceive the field of "consciousness studies" (CS) not as being directly about the study of consciousness, but as, rather, "consciousness (based) studies (of matter)". That is to say, for CS to remain a scientific field, the objective study of the external world of matter would continue to form its agenda, but only now matter would be studied by conceiving its properties in analogy to the properties of consciousness. This approach is in contrast to the way matter has been studied so far in science, in and of itself, i.e. independent of the nature of consciousness. In doing so, the field of “consciousness studies” would seek to extend at the foundational level, not only physics but also the other sub-fields involved (such as neuroscience, biology, artificial intelligence, psychology etc.) and eventually expect to see correspondingly new developments on the technological front.

2.0 Quantum Physics and the need for a new notion of Matter and its properties To briefly further describe this proposed, radically new approach to studying matter by analogy to the structure of consciousness, let us take a closer look at physics. As already mentioned above, in the era of classical (i.e. pre-quantum) physics, 'matter' has been conceptualized and studied in and of itself, independent of the nature of consciousness, in terms of primary properties. With the advent of quantum theory, however, it has become clear that the notion of primary properties is fundamentally inadequate to understand the world underlying the new phenomena. So far, no clue has been found to devise an alternative conception of matter appropriate to understand QT that is compatible with everyday intuitions of matter. As a result, physicists have continued to think of the properties corresponding to the quantum mechanical observables, such as position, momentum, energy and even spin, in a quasi-classical vein. That is to say, while they recognize that an actual observation is required to assign definite values to these properties, they are taken to belong to the quantum object in the primary sense once they are measured.

We cannot hope to alleviate this contradiction by seeing it as yet another instance of the need for an 'operational' view of physical properties, which gained entry with relativity theory. For, unlike relativity theory, it is not the case in quantum theory that without specifying the conditions of observation we have no description of the physical state and the properties at hand. We do! It is the feature of superposition. In other words, if we retain the primary notion of properties, the formalism seems to give two different conceptions of the physical reality, one at the point of measurement, and another in-between measurements. Since the two stand connected at present only via the process of an actual observation, there is the famed "measurement problem". Many interpretive solutions to this measurement problem have been proposed, all compatible with QT, but none of them is entailed by QT. Even more seriously, these solutions generate more conceptual difficulties than the original problem(s) they were designed to illuminate. None of the interpretations leave one with the feeling that the quantum physical situation has been “understood”. As a consequence, at present there is no single universally accepted interpretation of quantum theory.

3.0 The “Relational-Property” Approach at the B.I. The Bhaktivedanta institute is developing, through both published and ongoing research work, an alternative approach to interpreting quantum theory that primarily through the work of our present director. This approach, tentatively named the relational-property viewpoint (RPV), aims to altogether avoid the measurement problem, by eschewing the view that the properties corresponding to the quantum observables are ‘primary’ properties.

The RPV instead proposes that we can conceive a new set of properties for matter called relational properties, which are in-between primary and secondary (or subjective) properties. The states of matter described by these properties would still be objective, and hence primary-like, yet more "consciousness-like" than "classical matter-like" and thus congenial to understand the quantum observables. The reason the investigation of such new properties falls under “consciousness studies” is the expectation that only by studying the various models for the plausible structure of consciousness and identifying certain "necessary but not sufficient" (NBNS) attributes of consciousness we can make scientific headway in formulating these new kind of relational properties of matter within physics. Thus, the RPV presupposes the need for working with models of consciousness within science, but the scientific content of these models of consciousness would lie, not in giving us an understanding of consciousness itself, but in giving us clues for conceiving matter in new ways. In this sense, we see the new field as "consciousness (based) studies (of matter)".

To the (quite a large) extent to which other sciences (such as chemistry, biology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence etc.) are based on physics, both at the conceptual and practical level, any conceptual changes in physics in relation to consciousness will also presage the entry of consciousness-based investigations of physical phenomena in these other fields too. The status of "symbol" in artificial intelligence, the "binding" problem as well as the problem of qualia in neuroscience, the notion of "substance" in chemistry, the "form versus function" debate in biology, the felt need to develop a scientific alternative to behaviorism in psychology these are but a few examples of already recognized outstanding foundational problems that relate to consciousness in these different fields. In fact, we expect investigations in these fields from the relational-property viewpoint to aid the progress of ideas within physics, due to the very complicated and inter-related nature of the problems in these fields. This would explain why the new field of CS should be expected to remain a broad-based inter-disciplinary field.

The Institute thus very much stresses our own research program, as any good graduate program must. Indeed, our doctoral candidates and post-doctoral fellows in different fields are selected specifically for their ability/willingness to critique/develop the relational-property viewpoint within their field of study in science. Nevertheless, our M.S. curriculum content remains broad-based, teaching all contemporary approaches within this new field of consciousness studies, while also presenting our own in-house research initiative.

4.0 Other contemporary approaches to ‘consciousness studies’

Historically, the Bhaktivedanta Institute has played a substantial and pioneering role in the emergence of the very field of consciousness studies (see, About the Institute) and thus it is but natural that the Institute has new ideas to contribute to defining the research agenda of this new field. This is not, however to deny that the field of CS can be or is conceived elsewhere in other campuses differently. In the West, especially in the USA, a number of universities do "consciousness research" (see for example, U of Arizona, Tuscon site) and they all more or less treat the field as an effort to study the phenomenon of consciousness itself. Even so, there are a number of different approaches here.

    • consciousness can and must be entirely studied within current science (Penrose & Hameroff, Dennett, Churchland, Baars etc.)

    • the study of consciousness requires developing a new scientific approach (Chalmers, Searle, Stapp etc.)
    • Consciousness cannot be studied within science at all (McGinn).

As should be evident from the above, we at the B.I. take the fourth approach, that even the very assessment of the possibility for the study of consciousness within science must be preceded by first enlarging our study of matter in relation to consciousness. The relational approach thus assumes methodological, though not necessarily ontological, dualism. So, in the M.S. program, a student will fully and adequately study all the different approaches to the new field of CS taken at present by other researchers, and also side-by-side develop an understanding of the relational approach and the possibilities for its application.

    5.0 Conclusion

We should perhaps add, as a cautionary note to any prospective student of our program, to kindly not expect to study meditation, yoga, subtle energies, psychic energies etc., in this program. Ours is a contemporary scientific program to study matter in a new light, by drawing analogies from models of consciousness. It is, however, not a conventional science degree program either, being centrally connected to consciousness, as should be amply evident from the above brief discussion.

  21. Prabhupada mentioning some basics about the elements water and fire.

"Just like fire and fire, there is no reaction, but in fire and water there is reaction. Between fire and fire there is no reaction, but fire and water there is reaction. Similarly, sattva-guṇa-sattva-guṇa, there is no reaction. Tamo- guṇa-tamo-guṇa there is no reaction. It is… In English it is called incompatible."

So a weakened Sun or Mars can cause migraines?

Also, you refer to a weak digestive system - I had digestive problems when I was 10 years old and even had several studies done by a gastroenterologist.

If there is Rahu in the 5th can this cause digestive problems leading to migraines?

    Cheers,

    Aussie

"Weakened Sun or Mars". Or what many say: "I have a bad horoscope, this is weak, this aspect is bad, etc, etc." However, we have to understand that in God's creation there is nothing bad when properly used.

Just like someone says, an elephant is good because it is a strong animal, a cat is bad, it is a weak animal. A cat is only bad when you want to use it for heavy work, elephant's work.

Therefore Lord Ramacandra said, "Hanumanji, this little spider who throws grains of sand into the ocean to build the bridge to Sri Lanka is doing the same service like you do, there's no difference."

Astrology follows this logic, to position yourself in such a way that your present potential is being used in a optimal way, to full capacity.

Just like Rahu in five, rascal astrologers say, "Will have less progeny, only one son. Will be anger-prone. Will be abandoned by relatives. Will lack guts needed for success. Will be selfish and self-oriented."

This is like saying, elephant is good, cat is bad. But people pay lots of money to get such useless information. What can be done?

Too many people are having migraine problems, according Journal Watch Women's Health only in the US, an estimated 28 million people or more suffer from migraine.

In other words, since India's governmental policy is to never publish any such figures concerning state of people's health, an estimated 90 million Indians suffer from migraine.

How to check 90 million horoscopes? It is rather an epidemic kind of modern disease which has to be treated with strong discipline. Eat like a yogi and not like a bhogi.

Modern medical science is still baffled about what is the actual cause of migraine and the ayurveda doctors also don't have any pills.

What they do in the West, they prescribe heavy painkillers, pills that stop the perception of pain but don't cure the cause.

What the result will be in the long run if people take regularly painkillers, analgetics, I'm not optimistic about this kind of treatment.

  23.

but mine friend has a special ability, he can see human aura and he said after drink urin, the energy will be increase . drink urine also available in japan too.

Better first try cow urine, this is also available in Japan. The function of the kidneys is to keep the various elements in the blood balanced. If you drink your urine, you are reintroducing that disease back to your body.

Gomūtra is good medicine for liver disease, this is made from cow urine.

The ingredients of panca-gavya are milk, yogurt, ghee (clarified butter), cow urine and cow dung. All these items come from the cow; therefore we can just imagine how important the cow is, since its urine and stool are required for bathing the Deity. The pancamrta consists of five kinds of nectar -- yogurt, milk, ghee, honey and sugar. The major portion of this preparation also comes from the cow. To make it more palatable, sugar and honey are added.
