And what is the point you are trying to make? Jesus was a not a Christian, Mohamed was not a Muslim and Chaitanya was not a Gaudiya Vaishnava.

    Cheers

My point is that it's not about labels.

It's like some muslim parents who will be more angry if their children become Christians than if they take up drinking and womanising etc. Why? Because they aren't into being spiritual, they're into tribalism.

I think my point was obvious.

  2.

    no never heard of it.

there was a case here when someones father had put but that was proved entirely false.

what you heard of must be of asaramjis son(not morari bapu god forgive for mistake).

please have a listen on jagadguru.

    My apologies.

There is however, only one MahaPrabhu, who exhibited his universal form on several occaisions, and that is Lord Caitanya MahaPrabhu.

Your Guruji's movement does not match what Caitanya had 600 years ago nor does it match what he has now. I wonder what 600 years more will do.

There is no death, I was raised as a Christian, but some things did not seem correct, and I thought, why should I turn to man for the truth when I can go to the source itself, so I did.

The method I used was ceasslesss prayer, also stopped Eating meat, stopped smoking, gave up all material life, tv etc and one day, I got the shock of my life. I found myself engolfed in pure love, in space, and in the presence of what people call God, this experience caused me great conflict at first, because of what I was taught as a Christian, the presence I was in (God) did not have a body, just is, was, and always will be. I was shown many things, IE, Earth is an illusion, we are all connected, and not to worry about anything as all will be well, I had other things happen after this experience, visions, I was shown Earth giving birth to a new Earth.

I have some friends who suggested I should look up Hinduism because of other things I am still experiencing.

Please forgive me for the long post, but I am trying to undestand all that I have been shown and experiened.

Now that's awesome, in the proper sense of the word. It makes me happy to hear stuff like that.

Malaysia is a modern, progressive country, and they care more about development than trivial religious matters. So let's be more objective and less sentimental. Human lives are more important than idols, meaningless worship that results in wastage of food etc.

You know the food is distributed afterwards right?

Why don't you go spread your marxist rubbish with the other pinkos instead of coming to a religious forum?

India's first PM, J Nehru, said the temples in India occupy a lot of space, and if they were transformed into factories, India can feed its people. Frankly, I think this is a better approach, than to have millions being wasted on temples. In fact, even outside temples, we see poor people begging! So what's the point of having temples, when they can't even take care of the poor in the very vicinity of temples?

So I believe Nehru's view is the right one, and that the religious people are simply making money out of temples and gods.

Some might say these problems were caused by factories.

What is wrong if Rama ate meet. He was a khatriya and normally they eat meet. Even he was an avtar or Vishnu he lived like a human with all human emotions.

    Exactly.

What they don't do, however, is keep slaughterhouses. Ksatriyas hunt, that's their training. How can you defend a country if you cannot hunt? What is the use of your vegetarian society if it is so peaceful that it can be easily taken over by yavanas?

  7. I imagine that the reason Prabhupada says demi-god is a simple way of explaining Vaisnav theology to western students, many of whom have not had any contact with the vedic literatures before, and so are easily confused.

Essentially, it's just an english word.

Interestingly he never says demi-goddess, can anyone explain that one?

This can only be wishful thinking. Liberation is not possible without personal effort. Even if God stood in a personal form before you, unless you have the thirst for God, you can't perceive him as God.

You're so certain of this and that, but you make so many assumptions.

In divine lila, things aren't what they look like. That's why it's called lila. Maybe one day you can appreciate that, that you are not the knower.

"We are trying to provide a place for Hindus living in central New Jersey to come and participate and learn about their culture," Dasa said.

Well there's the truth of it. Logic says the bigger you make it, the more Indians will come, and the more Laxshmi they will bring.

Anyone in London can attest that the Swaminarayan temple in Neasden attracts people because it is huge and magnificent. That's why so many Indian people have taken the Swaminarayan religion, and that seems to be Iskcon's aim here. How many of these people will be interested in going on harinam, etc?

The point is that Iskcon needs 16/4 devotees, whether they be Indian or Western or anything else. Chicken eaters and dope smokers don't do much good at all.

  10.

    to you and m sivasurya

    thanks to you

Okay. I'm not even sure I understand your point. Were you saying origionally that because plants are living organisms, its as bad eating them as it is say a pig or chicken etc?

That's what I thought you were saying, but I'm confused now.

“I shall live in a solitary forest like a sage for fourteen years, leaving off meat and living with roots, fruits and honey”. 2-20-29

Does "leaving off meat" not mean he ate meat before he left off to the forest? this must mean he was a meat eater?

I find it very hard to beleive someone would quit eating meat before living in a forest. This seems somewhat illogical, especially for an expert archer.

I don't trust that if it says that, that's a ridiculous idea, that He would stop eating meat to go into the forest. Why would He do that?

Let's bear in mind there's a lot of different Ramayanas out there, so judging something like this cannot be done by quoting sastra.

It's logically plausible that Rama did not eat meat in the palace and also not in the forest, out of compassion. It's also possible that He hunted when He lived in the palace and continued when He lived in the forest, out of dharma, since He needed to be skilled at warfare. It's also possible that He didn't hunt when He was in the palace, and started hunting when He was in the forest.

To say that he was hunting in the palace and stopped when he lived in the forest defies logic and explanation.

  12. Ksatriya Dharma means he was allowed to hunt the deer etc in the forest, especially given that the other food available would not have been fitting to a ksatriya life, yes, that's why he carried a bow. As sant says, Lord Rama did not have the disgusting greed for meat, he just did as he was supposed to. To think that eating an animal killed in a slaughterhouse is the same as what lord Rama did is absolute lunacy.

Knowledge of Brahman from the internet?

I find that there one too many view points floating around the net. Nothing is ever deleted. Sometimes I am surprised/shocked when a number of my posts in other forums from 2001 onwards are seen in this forum. I have changed my views. (and the name) But the posts remain unchanged.

Yes. We do get a lot of information. I have learnt a lot from this forum. But for this to become knowledge, I have to understand and assimilate.

    Just my point of view.

I was making a joke. there's a lot of people who think that some BS discussion on the internet is the same as a genuine enquiry, tapasya, sadhana etc. It's comparable to the difference between fast food and 'fine dining' perhaps.
