  1. Dear Swapnil, There is no such thing as com-bust bhanga yoga, a com-bust planet if malefic gives a middling effect only, a com-bust benific looses its power and becomes neutral ,as regards mutual aspect of com-bust plants how can this be possible, a combustion occurs if a planet is within certain specific degrees to sun ,do you think that sun can effect a planet 180 deg apart. Don't let your imagination run amok. Regards J.s.sandhu
  2. Dear all, Whenever you consider about Guru chandala Yoga always take notice of the condition of the fifth and ninth house. If that is not bad then Guru chandala loses much of its strength and maleficity. Also Jupiter in nodal axis always cannot be regarded as bad. It can mean host of things. Say, untraditional approach towards spiritual matters or a person who does not believe in spirituality blindly he has strong scientific bent of mind in every matter. Rahu defines hidden things and Jupiter spirituality combine the both and you may get the complete different meaning of guru chandala yoga. Lagna is also important in this regard because lagna, fifth and ninth houses are considered to be the most important house of any horoscope. And yes the malefic effects will not be neutralized completely still they will decrease considerably without playing any havoc. A man with very strong constitution cannot be effected by the disease in the same way as is suffered by a very weak man. Also notice where guru chandala is taking place say it is worst in dusthana houses I think the word 'Guru' stands for tradition, convention and common belief. And Chandal is one who opposes common belief system, convention. A guru chandal combination with the help of a few other good yogas can make people fantastically original. Because logically, any person who is unique and original will have to be iconoclastic. He has to break older forms of convention to create new ones. But one thing is there, guru chandal yoga, if not supported by other planets, will keep on opposing convention and tradition just for the sake of doing it and without creating anything to replace it. Regards J.s.sandhu
  3. Dear I for one would not recommend a neelam or neeli to you, on the basis of Md of saturn alone , i for one think you dont need a stone at all, instead you can recite saturn mantras to propitiate lord saturn during the dasha period ,you can also donate black dal in a local gurudawara on alternate saturdays.( Make sure that Langar is served in that particular Gurudawara) Regards J.s.sandhu
  4. One of my previous topics posted I am bringing it to the helm for a porobable discussion. Regards J.s.sandhu
  5. 18. Is there any rule that can help interpreting the consequences of different kinds of weaknesses? Answer: Generally, the extreme infancy fails to generate results while the mritavastha (extreme old age) delays, inordinately. Debilitation and debilitation in navamsa shows deterioration. Bad placement results in obstructions, damages and losses. The weakness results of a planet being weak due to the weakness of its dispositor depend upon the type of weakness of its dispositor. 19. If a planet is strong in rasi but debilitated in navamsa, does this result in different results from what would be the case if the planet was debilitated in rasi but strong in navamsa? Answer: No. 20. Would weakness due to debilitation lead to different things being affected, as against weakness due to being placed in a bad house? Answer: Yes. Debilitation delays. Bad placement gives the impact of the concerned house. 21. Is it better to strengthen the weak dispositor or better to strengthen the planet weakened? Would it depend on whether the dispositor is benefic or malefic? Answer: If both are benefic, both should be strengthened. Otherwise the functional benefic of the two should be strengthened. 22. It is understood that the functional malefic planets, while obstructing the activities of planets that they happen to be afflicting, are still good for their own signification. Is this true only for their moolatrikona sign significations or also for their other sign and their place of residence, as is the case for other planets? Answer: Generally, it is for moolatrikona sign houses. 23. It is stated in the book that when a malefic planet is weak this does not affect the malefic nature of its aspects as this comes from the position of its moolatrikona sign in the natal chart. Does this also apply to benefic planets? In other words, if we have say benefic Jupiter aspecting another benefic, say Saturn, would the effect of the aspect be benefic irrespective of the strength of Jupiter? Answer: Yes. The level of impact is different than the nature, which depends upon the strength of the planet. 24. If a benefic planet and a malefic planet have a close conjunction say less than 1 degree and both are weak - how will they affect each other? Answer: Malefic planet benefits while the benefic planet suffers. 25. In the above conjunction, would there be any difference if they were say 3 degrees apart? Answer: The impact of both affliction and auspicious influence would be comparatively less. Each degree's influence is reckoned to the extent of 20%. 26. Is it correct to say if the two planets in conjunction are three degrees apart and the benefic planet is weak while the malefic planet is strong, the general and particular significations for the benefic planet will be badly affected, while the significations for the malefic would not be benefited? Answer: Yes. 27. Since the number of malefics varies from just two for Gemini to five for Taurus, Virgo and Pisces, does it mean that if we collect a large statistics, then people with Gemini rising would be generally happier and more fortunate? Of course the effect of transits and weakness of planets etc has to be accounted for, but if we assume a more or less fixed rate of birth of children in the world, then should statistics show that Gemini is a better sign to be born in? Answer: The results of planets depend upon their strength, placement and conjunctions/aspects. Geminians are generally less troubled than the others because less number of functional malefic planets. Similarly, the most troubled are Virgos followed by Pisces and Taurus. 28. "The astrological remedial measures are only psychological or have they any effect on human life". Please comment. Answer: Remedial measures are both curative and preventive and are best. Let me tell you that those who say that the remedial measures are only psychological, in my opinion, lack wisdom. Not only they ignore the ancient wisdom they create doubts in the minds of others about the efficacy of the ancient knowledge. Though there is difficulty in showing a direct cause and effect relationship in a scientific manner but evidence can be proving for those who take shelter of the astrological remedial measures. When all worldly sciences fail people come to astrology for seeking remedies and get the benefits with the remedies. If remedies were applied in the first place in many cases the problems can be or could have been just avoided. Just consider the impact of astrological remedial measures where 50 persons come to an astrologer for seeking remedies for prime sterlity after 10 to 15 years of their marriage. If the majority of the persons after performance of the astral remedies get a child, would the people terming remedies as psychological agree to the effectiveness of the astral remedies or not - I leave it to their judgement. Those who are impelled by God, seek and take benefit of the astal remedies. Those who indulge in arguments may or may not get the benefits as they lose trust in the process. Astrological Remedial Measures are applied for strengthening weak functional benefic planets through the Kavach and Gems and for propitiating the functional malefic planets to reduce their afflictions both in natal and transit charts. 29. What is a Gand Mool Nakshatra Birth Dosha: ANSWER: In Classical astrological literature if a child is born in the Jyestha, Aashlesha, Revati, Mool, Magha and Ashwini Nakshatra, the child is considered to be born in Gandant/Moola Nakshatras and the child is not considered to be born in an auspicious time. It is believed that such a child faces misfortunes at early stages in life. Therefore, for the pacification of this 'Gandant/Moola Nakshatra dosha', some specific rites are performed 27th days after the birth when the same Nakshatra returns. Jyeshtha and Moola are also called 'Gandant Moola' while Aashlesha is called as 'Sarpa Moola'. Under the Systems'Approach analysis every child born in Gandant or Moola Nakshatra is not found to be born in inauspicious times. In fact everything depends upon the strength of the planets and especially the strength of the planets whose sub periods are likely to operate in early years of life.
  6. 10. Does it matter if the aspecting malefic planet is strong or weak? Answer: The impact would be bad in both cases where the aspecting/conjunct malefic is strong or weak. To gauge it to demonstrate, is difficult. 11. If one's natal Sun is quite 'OK' in the rasi chart, without being either particularly weak or strong, then being exalted in Navamsa will certainly help. Answer: As its strength has not deteriorated in the navamsa, it will help. 12. Are there various levels of weakness in planets. For example: Planet A is well placed and is only weak because its dispositor is weak. Planet B is also well placed but is weak because it is in the state of infancy and combust. In the above case both planets are functional benefics and the Sun is also a functional benefic. Is planet B regarded more weak than planet A. Answer: When a planet is weak on more than one accounts its degree of weakness is higher. 13. Does the answer also apply to the strong planets? Answer: Yes please. 14. Does a planet need to fulfill all the requirements, which make a planet strong? Example - If say a planet is in its mooltrikona sign in say the third house and has no afflictions and none of the attributes which would make it weak (example: bad dispositor) does this automatically make it a strong planet? Answer: That is right. 15. Suppose we have the extreme case of 30 degrees or 1 degree rising, Then for a functional benefic planet to give full results is it necessary that the planet must be located at 30 degrees or at 1 degree? However if the planet is actually at 30 degrees it has lost all strength due to old age. As it moves away from 30 degrees it regains strength but loses impact. Answer: The significations of a house are influenced by either the strength of its lord or significator or the influence of a planet on its most effective point. So, if the lord or significator of the house is strongly well placed in the chart, the house will prosper and it is not necessary that some planet must influence its most effective point. 16. A functional malefic planet does not lose power to do harm in the state of weakness due to infancy or old age (according to SA). Is this correct ? Answer: Yes, this is correct.

What are the significators of Karma? Answer: The primary significators of profession, character (fourth house), initiatives and the lord of the ascendant (if the ascendant contains a moolatrikona sign) act as significators for Karma. The impact of Rahu on these significators makes one manipulative in tendencies and obstructs the spiritual growth. It requires a long experience to decipher such things from the chart. 2. What is the difference between a weak and afflicted planet as far as significations go? Answer: A weak planet is unable to protect /promote its significations. The weak planet also causes delays. If an afflicted planet is strong it gives some tension as per the level of affliction and nature of the afflicting planet. If an afflicted planet is weak the significations of such a weak planet are damaged and lost. 3. Will a strong afflicted planet cause less harm than a weak afflicted? Answer: Certainly, yes. 4. Do functional malefic planets, when not causing afflictions in the chart, never cause any harm? Answer: In their sub periods they cause some tension to the person with the significations of the houses occupied and aspected. 5. How we predict the end of a delay in bearing fruit of a weak transit planet? Answer: When the said weak transit planet gains strength. 6. When the planet makes contact by transit or aspect, if it is weak, we don't see results until it becomes strong in the transit house? Answer: At that time there is hope. Result comes with strength. 7. Let's say one's natal Jupiter is debilitated at birth, then the benefits of transiting Jupiter, even when exalted in transit, will be somewhat marred by the natal weakness. Answer: Correct. 8. When a functional benefic planet is in a dusthana house, (sixth, eighth, or twelfth), either in transit or in the natal chart, its significations are harmed? Answer: When it is in a malefic house, its positive results are obstructed, and it gives short lived problems connected with the house of placement. Real problems are there if it is afflicted in that situation, both by transit or natal functional malefic planets. 9. It is agreed that the Sun is a relatively fast moving planet, but it stays in one house for a month...So for that month, can it become afflicted. Isn't that sufficient enough slow speed to account for something? Answer: If there is no affliction, the transit impact remains to the extent of just a tension, with no real damage except delay, which is obvious because of the weakness due to a bad placement.

  11. Rahu and Ketu - The Karmic Axis Vedic astrology (Jyotish) makes use of seven planets : Moon, Sun, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter and Venus, as solid real planets and also Rahu and Ketu in analysing a chart. The arrangement or combination of planets at the moment of birth over the place of our birth becomes our birth chart and will show our soul’s journey in this earthly realm. The chart will show our personality and the kind of relationships we are going to have, as well as our career, finances and health matters just to name a few areas. In addition the Vedic system will also use planetary periods and transits to determine when karmic events will unfold into our life. Rahu and Ketu are not actually planets of physical substance like the other seven planets, rather they are areas of churned up energy, pregnant with mysticism and significance. They are the points where the Moon and Earth’s orbits intersect. This creates two areas of electromagnetic disturbances, which are directly opposite each other, and have come to be known as the Moon’s Nodes or in Vedic terms Rahu and Ketu. RahuKetu is the Sanskrit name given collectively for the Nodes of the Moon. Rahu is the North, and Ketu is the south node of the Moon. They are always directly opposite each other, that is 180 degrees apart. They form the karmic axis in a Vedic astrology chart that indicate the types of karmas coming into this life to be experienced for each person. They also indicate which areas of life that you will focus on, or strive for perfection in. Mythology According to Indian Mythology, Lord Visnu had decided to make the Deities (the seven planets) immortal. Visnu had churned up the sea in order to extract a sacred nectar called amrita, with the intention of making the planetary Gods immortal. Visnu had all of the planetary deities lined up in order to receive the nectar potion. However, a demon called Rakshasha, who was dragon-like in appearance had sneaked in and disguised itself as a deity, in order to become immortal. Once Visnu had realised that he had been fooled into giving the nectar to the demon he took out his sword and chopped the demon in half. The head of the dragon became Rahu and the tail became Ketu, but now they could not be killed, as they had received the nectar. When the nodes, Rahu and Ketu saw how angry they had made Visnu, they did penance to him and were eventually given planetary status. So Rahu and Ketu are a very powerful force that operates in our lives to control the karmic influences and situations through the Rahu Ketu axis. The symbol of Rahu represents the dragon’s head and Ketu represents its tail. The position of Rahu in the Vedic astrology chart will show the main area of focus for the person. For example someone with Rahu in the ascendant sign (the first house) will be very self-focused and may even appear to be quite selfish to those around them. However, it is necessary for that person to have this focus and it is their challenge to somehow balance their own needs with those of a partner, if they wish to have a relationship. Here lies the challenge for a person with Rahu in the first house. Those people with Rahu in the 10th house of career will have a strong focus on career and status and will very much need recognition in terms of power and status. Those with Rahu in the 6th house will be intent on giving service to others in terms of healing and helping the public. Rahu in the 4th house will give a strong focus on the home environment. In this way the Rahu Ketu axis can be used to give a different layer of meaning to the chart and will help to illuminate life purpose and direction for each individual, regardless of their rising sign, Moon or Sun sign. Rahu represents focus and where you are most likely to put your efforts and in this it can also represent insatiable desires too. One of our challenges will be to curb or control desires in order to find some balance in our lives. Rahu in the 10th house can indicate tendencies that if unchecked may lead to workaholism. Too much time at work is likely to lead to a dissatisfied partner and hence relationship problems. So we can see that our passion can also become our challenge. Rahu can also represent power and wealth, which is why the Chinese in particular often worship the dragon in order to bring prosperity into their lives. While Rahu is very much involved in material and earthly matters, its counterpart Ketu is much more concerned with bringing in the past life knowledge that is pertinent to this life and encouraging us to let go of emotional baggage and guilt. It will also encourage us to let go of intellectual reasoning to some extent, as Ketu goes beyond intellectual reasoning and more towards faith. Ketu can cause blockages and pain in our lives in order to push us to change our psychological patterns and move on. It may present itself as irrational fears and thereby encourage exploration of the subconscious mind which again can lead to major changes and evolution. Ketu is actually highly idealistic and is concerned with transformation and surrendering the ego to a higher power, which can eventually lead to enlightenment. So here we have the axis, on the one side Rahu very involved in desires and the material world and Ketu very much involved in the spiritual world. Both are doing their work in your life by stirring up your ambitions and at the same time pulling you towards renunciation. Here lies the human dilemma and the nature of our internal struggle. In further symbolism, Rahu represents the ego and the body and will encourage us to look for gratification, success and power in a particular area of life. In its quest to fulfil its ambitions it may even be manipulative and deceptive too and fool us into thinking that we are looking after others rather our own best interests. It is said that politicians generally have a powerful Rahu! Because Rahu is buried in our subconscious mind, it is hard for us to see the games it is playing in our lives. This is the reason why in the Vedic and Yoga tradition it is considered necessary to find a Guru to guide you on your quest to let go of the ego, as it can be very slippery and illusive. Ketu on the other hand represents renunciation, liberation and ultimate freedom from worldly affairs. Ketu also represents the soul. When Rahu can turn its purpose away from material gratification and unify its purpose with Ketu, then we have the raising of the Kundalini. Rahu from the root chakra can rise to join with Ketu in the crown chakra and unification and enlightenment is possible. In the meantime most of us will need to allow our Rahu to continue to lead us into experiencing many different situations and sensations in each of our incarnations in the knowledge that true and lasting fulfilment in these areas is really an illusion. Once that realisation has reached a deep level in our psyche we may then be ready to start to use our Rahu energy with our Ketu energy towards more fulfilling realms and reach Nirvana.
  12. QUESTION: Whereas I do indeed digest where ure coming from, and your suggestion to aid comprehension of planetary strengths, may I request your opinion on the strength of Rahu and Jupiter and the ensuing dasa indications in your capacity as an astrological savant. Answer One of the universal properties of rahu and kethu is that they both partake of other supporting planets to make a major impact upon the subject. Typically, I pay more attention to the planets close to them rather than to their dispositors. The impct of their strengths would then depend on the strengths of the planets they are in proximity with. As to the dasa readings, I use the dasa as an overview to the more specific expressions of the bhukti lords in the lives of the subject. Therefore, I would suggest that you use the bhuktis of rahu or kethu in the different dasas to better see their effects on the person rather than particularly just their dasas. Do not take my words as absolute truth. After four decades of astrology, I still only have more questions than answers even if I have developed firm protocols for successful prediction-making for my devout students. <!--/gc-->
  13. Raman Expert: Ashutosh Agnihotri - 12/23/2007 Question QUESTION: Date of Birth: 24-09-1954 Time of Birth: 00 : 08 Place of Birth: Mumbai Country: India Latitude: 18° 58' N Longitude: 72° 50' E Planet Positions PLANET SIGN LONGITUDE MOTION NAKSHATRA Asc Gemini 9° 29' Ardra Sun Virgo 6° 58' Dir U Phalguni Mer Virgo 29° 50' Dir Chitra Ven Libra 21° 41' Dir Vishakha Mar Sagittarius 20° 8' Dir P Ashadha Jup Cancer 2° 18' Dir Punarvasu Sat Libra 14° 1' Dir Swati Mon Cancer 29° 37' Dir Ashlesha Rah Sagittarius 17° 26' Ret P Ashadha Ket Gemini 17° 26' Ret Ardra Nakshatra is: Ashlesha Rashi is : Cancer 1) There is a lot of controversy as to the exaltations of Rahu and Ketu. Thru trial and error do you feel that Rahu gets exalted in Taurus/Sagittarius/scorpio? Then there is controversy what effects he gives...some say he gives the effects of the lord of the house, and others say that Rahu gives the same results as Sani! (Sanivad Rahu)...yet others say he gives the results of the house he occupies...by this token in the above chart, the lord of his house is in deep vargottama exaltation direct; and even sani is exalted and in moolatrikona navmansh with sasa yoga. Independently he is ordinary by sign, but conjoined with doubly malefic Mars, EXCEPT that mars is lord of 5 & 10 from Moon....How would u reconcile these variations, and how do they augur for his dasa? ANSWER: To date, never mind the dignities of rh and kt, but the manner of their fundamental expression in the chart itself has not reached universal acceptance. A for what is being said about how they function, eastern scholars have written much on them, but contemporary and modern literature both eastern and western is becoming more voluminous in the evolving enquiry of the astrological firmament. The rigmaroles of the analysis can be windng and definitely perplexing; especially if you try to find an absolute, final, pin-pointing 'prediction' for a singular graha. In (1), you trailed around the horoscope technically, but without making a single interpretation of the contributing variables you cite. It is important that you know each contributing variable offers its own effect that fluctuates the 'nuance' of the whole. Stop the run around for the sake of better learning. This is what you want to do: Go back to basics... always. You may have advanced knowledge of advanced techniques, but if your fundamentals are not solid, then your advanced 'techniques' can never produce 'advanced' RESULTS in your prediction-making. Make sure your indivisible fundamentals are solid and not shaky. In your search for the greater truth for these chahya grahas, ask yourself: where is my rh? In which house? Fine. Now that house affects my experience in a certain area of life. And in that area of life, how is my actual experience? List this down, contemplate on this. If astrology is worth what its cracked up to be, your experience in that area will reveal a rh contribution. This argument is undeniable. Here is my recommendation: use 'foreign element' for rh, and 'destructive fire' for kt for now. Please don't forget that there is no such thing as a 'good' or 'bad' planet. Where rh is in your chart, in that area of life you will find a strong dominance of foreign elements. Where kt is in your chart, in that area of life you will find a strong dominance of 'strong attraction for' but can be a major problem for you because you take things for granted in that area. Don't worry about its dignities by house or sign position. The avasthas is a problem in good prediction-making. Weak or strong, every planet offers something in the prediction of single or whole issues. As for (2), trying my recommendation above circumvents this problem. Read the fundamental statement you must make astrologically, and see if it relates to realworld events. Don't worry if it should, just do the reading and record it for yourself. Then, do the same type of 'reading' for every other horoscope. Let your own experience and observation be your platform for the truth to reveal itself or not. If no author can gratify your search, then do the research with your own experience.
  14. Dear all A simple analysis to identify the same. Let me clarify. First of all, check the following conditions. 1) All planets between Rahu and Ketu 2) No planet is with Rahu 3) No planet is with Ketu 4) No planet in the Lagna 5) No planet in the 7th house If any of the conditions above are not met, the chart does not have either KSY or KAY. (Kal sarp Yoga, Kal amrita yoga) If ALL of these conditions are met, the next step is to see which of the yogas it is, KSY or KAY. The process for that is, as I mentioned before, 1) Start from Rahu 2) Traverse the chart in the zodiacal direction. This is the normal direction that the planets move in, and goes from Aries to Taurus to Gemini to Cancer etc. 3.a)If the next entity encountered is Ketu, this means that all the planets are between Ketu and Rahu. This is Kala Sarpa Yoga. 3.b)If the next entity encountered is a planet other than Ketu, this means that the planets are all between Rahu and Ketu. this is kalamrita yoga. My visual crutch for remembering this is to visualize planets going towards either Rahu or Ketu. If there are all hurling towards Rahu, the native is veering towards Rahu's materialism, which makes it Kala Sarpa yoga, since Rahu represents the Sarpa, or poison. On the other hand, if the planets are all moving towards Ketu, it is Kala Amrita yoga, since Ketu represents Moksha or Amrita. My outline above is based on the progression of the planets, but you get the same result if you consider the movement of Ra and Ke instead. 1) Start from Rahu again 2) Traverse the direction that Rahu (and Ketu) move in, i.e. go in the anti-zodiacal direction. This means if you start from Aries, go to Pisces, Aquarius etc. 3.a) If you encounter a planet other than ketu, this means that this planet is being "swallowed up" by Rahu in its progression - again indicating Kala Sarpa yogam. 3.b) If the first planet you encounter is Ketu, and then you encounter the other planets, this means that Ketu is "swallowing up" the other planets in its movement, i.e. the desire for Moksha is comsuming the indications of all other planets, and the native will eventually reach Moksha. This is Kal Regards J.s.sandhu I go by this method , others may have their own measures, Just as i believe 3rd lord as badhaks for fixed lagna, Its my point of veiw and whatever i say is not gospel, but i have reason of my beliefs some can be explained and some just cant, i have explained the badhak principle as regards the Ksy , the yardstick i apply is a word of mouth theory of my guru passed on to him by his guru and so on. 15. KalSarp Yoga <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> Rahu and Ketu are two modes of Moon and they are regarded as full-fledged planets in Astrology. They are considered as most dreaded planets. Rahu is the Dragon’s head and Ketu as Dragon’s tail. Both of them form a malefic yoga, known as Kal-Sarp Yoga. In Astrology, this Yoga is supposed to have direct impact on the following events :<o:p></o:p> - It causes deterioration of health and reduces longevity. - It causes imprisonment or serious accident. - It causes separation, divorce and marital discord. - It causes poverty and destruction of wealth. - It causes destruction of business and loss of job. - It causes destruction of kingdoms and rulers. - It causes downfall of most powerful persons in politics.<o:p></o:p> Formation of Kalsarp Yoga :<o:p></o:p> - All the planets should be within the orbit of Rahu and Ketu. - Rahu should be at the upper end and ketu at the lower end. - There is no planet outside the arch.<o:p></o:p> - That there is no planet conjuncting with Rahu or Ketu.<o:p></o:p> - That all the seven planets should face Rahu, which is always retrograde.<o:p></o:p> Impact of Kal-Sarp Yoga : - Rahu in first house and Ketu in 7th house: Downfall, loss of position and reputation, mishappening, marital discord, loss of wife and children.<o:p></o:p> - Rahu in second house and Ketu in 8th house : Reduction in wealth and health causes poverty, worries defects in body and lot of travelling.<o:p></o:p> - Rahu in 3rd house and Ketu in 9th house : Involved in criminal activities, unpopular, waste energy and wealth, selfish, accident prone and paralysis is possible.<o:p></o:p> - Rahu in 4th house and Ketu in 10th house : Loss of property, disappoint-ment, loss of job and business, unhappiness, sarpdosha unhappy and unsettled life.<o:p></o:p> - Rahu in 5th and Ketu in 11th house : Heavy losses in litigation, failure in love affair, loss of children and betrayal by friends.<o:p></o:p> - Rahu in 6th house and Ketu in 12th house : imprisonment, secret enemies, bad health and serious sickness and set backs in married life.<o:p></o:p> Note : The impact is more severe if Rahu has support of Sun and Saturn.<o:p></o:p> Duration of Kal-Sarpn Yoga :<o:p></o:p> - Rahu in 1st house: upto 27 years of age. - Rahu in 2nd house: upto 33 years of age. - Rahu in 3rd house: upto 36 years of age. - Rahu in 4th house: upto 42 years of age. - Rahu in 5th house: upto 48 years of age. - Rahu in 6th house: upto 54 years of age.<o:p></o:p> Notes :<o:p></o:p> - It causes malefic impact on houses occupied by Rahu and Ketu.<o:p></o:p> - It causes malefic impact on houses aspected by Rahu and ketu.<o:p></o:p> - It spoils the benefic planets joining with Rahu and Ketu.<o:p></o:p> - It causes severe hardship when related with Sun and Saturn or the lords of the houses occupied by Sun, Saturn,Rahu and Ketu.<o:p></o:p> - Its impact will be clearly noticed during periods and interperiods of Rahu and Ketu.<o:p></o:p> - Its impact is more severe when Rahu/Ketu are in 1,5 or 9th position from themselves or Sun, Mars and Saturn.<o:p></o:p> - Sometimes it pushes a man to great heights.<o:p></o:p> - Sometimes it gives benefic results, when Rahu/Ketu are aspected by benefic planets, specially Jupiter or Venus.<o:p></o:p> - Ketu is always 180 degrees from the longitude of Rahu<o:p></o:p> - In case Uranus, Neptune or Pluto are outside the arch of Rahu and Ketu, no Kal-Sarp Yoga is formed.<o:p></o:p> - Ketu’s aspect is less malefic than Rahu<o:p></o:p> - Raja Yogas in the chart are more effective than Kal-Sarp Yoga<o:p></o:p> - This Yoga causes great harm to th4e family, society and nation through the person who has Kal-Sarp Yoga<o:p></o:p> - This Yoga plays important role in Mundane Astrology<o:p></o:p> - Rahu joining ninth Mars in any chart create criminals or suicide or serious accident or murder<o:p></o:p> - Rahu and Saturn joining in any house destroy the 7th house, the house opposite them<o:p></o:p> - Rahu in transit creating relations with Jupiter or Venus gives benefic results<o:p></o:p> - Ketu moving over any planet is evil for the significations of the concerned house<o:p></o:p> - Rahu and Ketu generally behaves like lord of the sign occupied by them or the planet conjuncting with them.<o:p></o:p> - If Ascendant is outside the arch of Kal-Sarp Yoga, the malefic impact is reduced.<o:p></o:p> - The dispositors of Rahu and Ketu also play important role in determining the benefic or malefic impact.<o:p></o:p> - Rahu in 3rd or 6th house in Aries, Taurus or Cancer sign does not give malefic results. It is benefic and gives benefic results.<o:p></o:p> - Rahu in 10th house or aspecting 10th house and its lord along with Sun and Saturn destroy the native’s career. In case of 7th house separation and divorce id possible<o:p></o:p> - Rahu and Mars in 3rd house causes accident and damages to life.<o:p></o:p> - Rahu + Mars + Sat in ascendant: Dangerous personality.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p>

The Bhoga & Moksha Marga are poles apart..one from the second and the other from the 12th house. 18. Dear sunder ji, Saturn debilated in aries but retrograde and vargottam gives the planet saturn a tremendous impetous to influence your life journey, its placement in 10 th the karm sthan as lord of 7th and 8th is another factor. Two questions for you. How well do you get along with your Father and at work place ? Is your profession related to medicine & treatment ? I have not analyised your chart ,but i have gone on the information you have given. Here i will like to share the observation of Pandit sanjay rath in one of discussions on this forum . Jaya Jaya Jagannath Dear Hanna & Narasimha, There is no controversy here. There is only one dictum about retrograde planets that of it getting many rays. It is found to give results of its opposite house. In the horoscope of Bhagawan Sri Ram, we find Saturn in the 4th (Step-Mother & Domestic Help) house having resulted in His exile for 14 Years. The Saturn is exalted and retrograde and while indicating people related to the 4th house, it gave results akin to debility i.e when He was on the verge of coronation, a devilish conspiracy resulted in His exile in the Jungle (Debilitation effect) for 14 Years (19-5). With Regards, Sanjay Rath Dear Sanjay, > > The principle of retrograde planet in debilitation acting as an exalted > > planet itself is a matter of controversy (even when talking about other > > planets). > > There is no controversy here. There is only one dictum about > retrograde planets that of it getting many rays. It is found to give results > of its opposite house. In the horoscope of Bhagawan Sri Ram, we find Saturn > in the 4th (Step-Mother & Domestic Help) house having resulted in His exile > for 14 Years. The Saturn is exalted and retrograde and while indicating > people related to the 4th house, it gave results akin to debility i.e when > He was on the verge of coronation, a devilish conspiracy resulted in His > exile in the Jungle (Debilitation effect) for 14 Years (19-5). I beg to disagree. I have seen people handling retrograde planets in debilitation and exaltation in several different ways. Some just ignore retrogression. Some look at whether the planet is moving towards or away from the point of deep exaltation/debilitation and treat differently based on that. I don't think our astrologer community is in unison on this issue. There IS controversy and what you expressed above is just ONE opinion. You can give examples, but we have counter-examples too. Take Ramakrishna Paramahansa for example. He has lagna lord Saturn exalted in 9th with retrogression. During Saturn dasa, he made tremendous spiritual progress. Why? Saturn did not give him 9th house results akin to debility. Prof. P.S. Sastri has Pisces lagna and lagna lord Jupiter exalted in 5th with retrogression. Still you can detect *exalted* Jupiter's strong influence in his erudition and scholarly prowess. Your sishya, Narasimha Jaya Jaya Jagannath Dear Narasimha, The results are the same. Saturn is in the ninth house and like in the chart of Sri Ram, it will give results pertaining to that house. In this case, as the Lord of the ascendant, ti will do good for the Lagna and being in retrogression, it has tremendous Chesta bala..i.e the person is frustrated many times, but keeps going. Here, there have not been any Rajyoga which should be expected from Saturn in Exaltation, but, instead, Pravrajya Yoga i.e Renunciation. In the former case, it was imposed on Sri Rama, whereas in the present case, this was adopted by Sri RamaKrishna as a way of life as Saturn is lord of Lagna. Thus, Saturn has given results akin to debility..PravRajyayoga and NOT Rajyoga. Jupiter's retrogression is a different tale. While in the 5th house in the Chart of Prof P.S.Shastri it has given him the Knowledge and rare insights into this Jyotish, but its retrogression has resulted in his being akin to debility i.e. the person will be denied many of the worldly happiness that should have come from an exalted Jupiter. Unlike saturn, Pravrajya Yoga may not result in toto. With Regards, Sanjay Rath

  21. Astronomy Rahu and Ketu–The Invisible Planets Why do Hindus believe that the mythological demons Rahu and Ketu cause solar eclipses? In Hindu mythology there is a wonderful story that describes how the gods and the demons once formed an alliance to produce a nectar that could give them immortality. This is the story of the churning of the milk-ocean and the descent of Lord Visnu as the Kurma avatara, the divine tortoise. When the nectar that was churned from this ocean was being served to the gods, a demon, disguised as a god, sat between the Sun and the Moon in an attempt to procure the nectar. When he was detected by the Sun and the Moon, Lord Visnu immediately severed his head from his body. Unfortunately, it was not fast enough, for the demon had already tasted a small quantity of the nectar and had become immortal. Ever since, this demon is said to wreak vengeance on the Sun and Moon whenever they come near. The head of this great demon is known as Rahu and his tail is known as Ketu. In Hindu astrology Rahu and Ketu are known as two invisible planets. They are enemies of the Sun and the Moon, who at certain times of the year (during conjunction or opposition) swallow the Sun or the Moon causing either a solar or a lunar eclipse. In Sanskrit this is known as grahanam or seizing. What perhaps sounds like a childish story is a powerful metaphor for what actually happens when an eclipse takes place. Rahu and Ketu are the astronomical points in the sky respectively called the north and south lunar nodes. To the observer on earth, the paths of the sun and the moon appear to be two great circles projected on the celestial sphere (see the diagram). The sun’s path, the solar ecliptic, makes a complete revolution in one year. At the same time, the moon’s circular path is completed in about one month. Every month the moon will overtake the sun which moves more slowly. This is called new moon or in Sanskrit, amavasya. Usually the moon’s path passes above or below the sun’s path and no eclipse occurs. But, periodically the moon overtakes the sun at the place where their paths intersect. This causes the sun or the moon to be hidden from the earth’s view and is thus called a solar or lunar eclipse. These places of intersection are the north and south lunar nodes, or as they are referred to in Hindu mythology, Rahu and Ketu. Therefore, in the symbolic language of mythology, Rahu and Ketu are said to “swallow up” the Sun and the Moon. The ancient Hindu observers of the sky were aware of the cause of the solar and lunar eclipses and so described the process in the language of metaphor.

They have the right and the power to modify the outcome. Whenever their main or sub-periods are active in the Vimshottari Dasha, look for the adjacent period lords and check if they have any association with these lords due to the House / Sign / Star or Sub. Try and imagine that the star portion in a Sign is a container by itself and if Rahu and another planet occupy or are contained in this star, then Rahu can and will preside over the other planets functionality in total and whenever such associated planet comes as an adjacent period lord Rahu will provide the functionality instead of the said planet. If the houses owned by the adjacent planet are favourable then it will act in a manner of enhancing or blowing out of proportion the effect of such houses. Rahu being a deceptive entity it cannot grant satisfaction and hence you will be left with a feeling of dis-satisfaction as Rahu multiplies, enhances or blows out of proportion all the effects. It is a force multiplier which leaves one tired and frustrated to some extent. Rahu & Ketu are the two imaginary points of intersection formed when the Plane of Moon's Orbit intersects the plane of the Sun's Orbit. The point of intersection in the North is called as Moon's North Node and the point in the South is called as the Moon's South Node. Moon's North Node is called as Rahu or Ascending Node and Moon's South Node is called as Ketu or Descending Node Since Rahu & Ketu are the resultants of the computed elements based on Sun & Moon. The Sun which represents the Spirit whereas Moon represents the Mind. The active or over-active part is Rahu whereas Ketu is the inactive or the passive element. The proximity or association of other planets with them represents the overall attitude in the chart. In the chart, analyse their positions first, then check whether Rahu's Dasha is in the active age of the chart owner and if Rahu is associated with planets owning favourable houses or are occupying such houses in the chart then such a persons life will undergo struggle or a fight. In other words such a chart owner will be active and dynamic in nature and actions. If Ketu's dasha is in the latter part of life and if Ketu is associated with planets owning favourable houses or placed favourably then that part of life could be passive or inactive. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> Regards J.s.sandhu
  23. Dear Raman, Its good to see you here and you have already engaged Deepa ji in discussion good going pal. Well here's me with a an article by Das goravani. Happy readings. Regards J.s.sandhu <H3> </H3> <H3> Rahu/Ketu </H3> Rahu and Ketu have actually little to do with the other planets normal systems as they are outcases, rakshashas. They are one, but two parts on one being, an anti-godly power being, a power demon originally. The presence of Rahu and his other half Ketu in the heavens comes only because an eventful moment in Rahu's life wherein just as he was getting what he sought, he was slain, and henceforth having gotten a taste of the eternalizing (within this realm) Soma Drink, is now living on like a God, but is not a God. Ketu is the dead half of his body. Rahu is the ever living head. One alive, one dead. One angry at the tattle tail Sun and Moon Gods, the other one dead but in the ecstasy of the touch of the deadly but liberating Sudarshan Chakra of Vishnu. So Ketu is more purified- as he has no choice- is more ultimate- Rahu is still toiling. The Rahu side of this axis represents toil, and the Ketu side detachment. Gain and Loss, in one sense, but Rahu's gain is not always material or external. Rahu and Ketu come to us in the way that they were added to the heavens. Their presence in the heavens is ever antagonistic to the normal flow there, hence they are not welcome, nor wanted, especially by the luminaries. There is some connection with Venus due to the later being the Guru of Rahu, hence I buy the theory that Rahu is exalted in Taurus if anywhere as that is the safest house for him as it's Earth and Venus ruled, so the other Gods have less say there, Venus is at least compassionate for Rahu, and he's on the Earth there, not in the Sky chasing the luminaries. If a soul takes to Jyotish during Rahu Maha Dasha, then most certainly they lived previously in a land or home where the authorities are anti-Veda, because then they are learning Veda during the anti Sun and Moon dasha. See? Someone said this. It's probably as I say. For them, that period was a tour away from their norm, and so their norm must have been non-Vedic. This is common these days in New Agers in the West. They will become hippy outcaste vegetarian love Jyotishi TM'er types and the like during Maha Rahu if placed just so in the chart, so as to oppose modern Western materialism. So Rahu these days in the West can often liberate a person, when properly placed, because "LIKE A DEMON AGAINST THE SUN" they pursue their cherished desire for Soma Rasa and often get it. Isn't that what we're after here? I am Ketu conjunct Moon myself. I am a nodal child born under a Rahu ruled Star and Ketu ruled lagna star, in Rahu mahadasha. Hmmm. The effects of Rahu and Ketu depend most on what surrounds them in all respects like other planets. They are more reactive than anything though- they react and attack rather than build, unless what they are building is foreign to the place and times, new, different, a growth, a revolution, an alteration for either creative better, taking on new and better foreign ideas say, or for the worse, spraypaint and poison, revolution and killing. The house, sign and conjunctions are the greatest and main things to watch. Nodal conjunctions are important. The houses they reside in is the most key, then the sign, then the conjunctions, perhaps in that or other order. This is my understanding. For example, Rahu in the sixth connects him with the persons and things the sixth rules. Ketu in the 10th connects Ketu with 10th house significations. The sign colors the behavior and conjuncted planets become affected. This is like other planets. The primary mode of Rahu is to expand. He is a voracious grabber of good things in life, like Venus, but is expansive like Jupiter, and can generate sudden events like Mars, and powerful forces like Saturn. Rahu is very karmic. You will find politicians rising into power during Rahu Maha Dasha say placed in the 10th- we find it enhances the career overall, but is the way of that expansion good or bombastic in many respects? Rahu in the first generates lots of worry in the head. Rahu in the first makes the person a wanderer, a foreignor, standing out, appearing a little agressive at times. Rahu means "the unexpected, uninvited guest from another land, hear to steal something, not wanted". This can never be all good. It can however turn into: "Your Rahu is giving you the power to go into an established order or place or industry or endevour, and somehow or another usurp a position there, and reap the richest rewards". Yes, Rahu sometimes gets turned positive and agressive, allowing the native to capture something spectacular. Rahu often creates spectacular and stellar "grabbing" achievements in the house it tenets. The results of that house may really stand out after being discovered, just as Rahu was discovered. But the reaction may be also rejection by the common, but love and acceptance from an opulant minority, such as us here. We are an opulent minority in the world (Rich in knowledge) seen often as DEMONS in our countries, depending on the place. So these days in the West Rahu rules over astrology very much so. The fact that I have Rahu in the 5th and the 5th lord in the second directly connects foreign ideas and creativity that is unusual in my head (Rahu in the 5th) with my mouth (the 2nd) and hence it is supportive of preaching hinduism in America and Astrology etc. The house where Rahu tenets becomes foreign and suffers the stigma of being unwelcome in it's environment very often. So Rahu in the first is hard on the person themselves, making them seem odd, outcaste, a little too unique, etc. However, they can therefore be the source of something new and original. They are often leaders of innovation in some way. Look to where the Lord of the house of Rahu has gone to understand how he is reacting to Rahu, or where the lords personal interests lie, and it might give a clue as to why Rahu has attacked that particular house. Ketu is a killer, and strips the house where it tenets of life in a way, but can promote it in another way. The way it does both is through it's strong empty feeling. By promoting an emptiness in that house, the person often struggles to refill it. This can result in accumulation and abundance for that house, hence Ketu in the 11th increases riches, by creating a feeling of constant poverty or drainage of the 11th. Ketu in the 7th causes a feeling of loss of connections with others, a natural result of Rahu in the first, which makes one often rejected and abandoned for being outcaste. This happens subtly throughtout life for those bearing the mark of Rahu in the first. Rahu always causes Ketu straight across. Thus, the nodes affect an axis always. On one side there is concern and expansion (Rahu) and on the other side there is detachment and loss (Ketu). They are head and tail of karmic reality- too much abundance and involvement for the mouth of Rahu caused him to lose his body but he became eternal in a sense. So, you will over endevour and toil where Rahu is, because you are driven too by past karmic material attachments like Rahu. You will achieve much there, because of demonlike endevours. You will get rewards, but you will suffer for your sins of theft, and all along you will ignore the other side in some senses, and your detachment for the Ketu side will grow, or your feeling of loss there, depending on Ketu's particular color in the chart, and thus this is one way that various imbalances and karmic reactions will manifest- the Rahu Ketu axis is always key in discovering where some of our main problems in life will be- losses, deaths, diseases, weird and dangerous events. These two certainly carry these things. On the other hand, they carry such drive and passion that they drive much of what goes on here. Without our Rahu and Ketu sides, we would not be struggling so as we do. We would not be learning as much. So, they are where the lesson stick will fall in this life, as well as SOMETIMES where serious fruits will be handed back to you from successful past lessons. They are never considered really benefic in the sense of "all good", as they must always carry some of the heavy karma their birth is associated with, but they can be truly honorable in the right chart. They can be the source of things such as valour, endevour, bravery, in ways, and certainly things like fleeing a hostile environment, being revolutionary, fighting bad governments, being the underdog, being a yogi or spiritualist of many good types, focusing on things such as mysticism, death, the afterlife, God's valour, God's ultimate law (Ketu especially is aware of this as he's dead because of it!). Ketu is the highest planet in Jyotish spiritually, because he rules the ultimate truth for us here. Jupiter can teach us all about Dharma, but Ketu really drives it home. Ketu and Saturn help us to realize the teachings of Jupiter and they alone teach us that we must be humble. Jupiter is too soft as is Venus. The malefics teach the hard side of our lessons and hence in a way, are more brave, more caring, in a way, than the benefics, who would spoil us rotten if left alone to do that. Peace for all sentient beings, Das Goravani
