  1. Now a days we find that most of astrologers, worldwide, intend to show that they are specialist in different branches of astrology, & render guidance to the aspirants. The debate is whether their claims can have some basis. Vedic astrology has the richest literature covered in over 400,000 aphorisms, gifted by the Sages & Acharyas in the last over 5 millenniums. It has three main branches viz, astronomy (Siddhanta), Samhitas (dealing with mundane, meteorology, omens & portents, constructional matters, electional astrology etc.) & Predictive (Hora) astrology. The predictive astrology has various branches such as Horoscopy (Jaataki), Electional (Muhurt) astrology, Annual (Tajik) horoscopy, Horary (Prashna) astrology, Female (Streejaataki) horoscopy, Recconstructional (Nashtajaatakam) astrology, Jaimini Sutras (a special system of prediction), Astro - Palmistry (Graha- Samudriki), Remedial astrology etc. etc. But none of the exponents blessed us with treatises on more than one subject. The only except is the great Acharya Varaha Mihir – who gifted us excellent treatises on the three said branches. Some of the exponents have opined that they have learnt this subject not only in this birth but is the outcome of their Karmas & study in their last births also. It is impossible for human being to learn & master one branch of this futurity science in one birth. When none on the Hindu exponents have dared to touch more than one subject of Hindu astrology, it is now thought possible by modern astrologers to claim specialization in more than one branch of astrology. Further when we have now specialist in the field of each branch of the knowledge like engineering, science, medicine, law, economics … ; how come that we have not felt the need for specialist astrologers in specific branch of astrology, & have been accepting astrologers capable to guide aspirants in more than one of its branches. To cite an example, one may find astrologers generally engaged in predictive astrology; venturing to render guidance in electional branch, but when he would be asked as to how many books he has read on the subject or rather he possesses in his library; the answer shall be obvious. One may excuse an astrologer claiming specialisation in “Remedial Astrology” if the results do not come, consoling oneself that it may be effect of his Karmas in this & last birth. But how come you can excuse an astrologer who has rendered guidance to an aspirant on Muhurt (election), who does not have even a single book on electional astrology in his library. We all understand limitations of knowledge in any field, but that does not authorize one to claim master of different fields, especially in astrology. Now-a-days we find lot of TV channels discussing and advising on astrology. Today for you, Card readers (without showing cards opened by them), discussing / replying on horoscope of a nativity (with no interest of others - but for gathering self fame; giving their phone Nos. more predominently), advising on remedial measures wthout quoting the reference treatise, advising on issues related to "Karam Kand" for remedy, etc etc. This is nothing more than befooling masses & bringing disrepute to our Vedic / Indian astrology. ... 2. Dear Anusha & our learned readers, Please be informed that purpose of astrology are only two : a) To ward off evil effects of planets at birth and at Muhurt (to start an important life activity) b) To select / elect an auspiciuous time for important life activities, to get maximum possible success in the selected venture,. All other usages of Vedic astrology and their branches are rather ment to be used for amusement / (lessor) guidance to the nativities. Muhurt is equivalent to giving (another) birth to an event / nativity. Muhurt has lost its importance due to market forces of the present era. Card readers, weekly forcasts, talking of a horoscope on national TV, funny remedial measures without reference to the original treatise (rather self made), befooling about some aspects like "Kaal Sarapa Dosha" and the like. -- are simply misguiding the masses. The guide must specifically state whether the advice is his invention / experience or must quote reference to the specific treatise giving its reference. To cite an example, if I have to find an auspicious time for an important life activity - I require about a couple of hourshard work. Despite the fact that I have done some deep study of the subject. I know some astrologers giving guidance on Muhurt, when they do not possess even a single book on Muhurt in their library. Further when none of our exponents (except Acharya Varahmihira) have dared to write on more than one subject / branch of astrology then, how our present day astrologers claim to guide aspirants on all the subjects / branches of our Indian / Vedic astrology !!. The present day situation has brought disrepute to our astrology. More on the subject on some other ocassion. ... V K Shridhar
  3. Dear Anusha, To prepare Muhurt for marriage is one of the most complicated, specialised & challenging task for an electional astrologer. It can not be so easily fixed. Now having fixed the date & options are limited, I can tell you some of the the rules regarding Aries , Libra & Scorpio; & you may decide & advise at your end. Aries & Scorpio ascendant are suitable for Kshatriayas according to Jyotishnirvana. Kaal Prakashika does not recommend Aries. In general Libra rising or Navamsha are commended by most of the exponents. However the Moon , rising sign & Navamsha -- all should not be in moving sign. Further both Libra rising and Navamsha (Vargottama) is held as bad in Muhurt Chintamani. Lords of rising sign and navamsha should not be weak. All the rules can not be discussed in a forum like this. Please decide at your end With best wishes. ... V K Shridhar
  4. Dear Krishnan ji, You are right that there should be no planet in 7th house in marriage electional chart, as well as no planet in 8th house. Further any planet in 64th Navamsha is also to be avoided - to be precise. Karmas are in our hands. Human birth is for imrovement of one's status in this birth. If there is no effect of Karmas then, quest for leaning, attaining knowledge, study of Vedas & the like, doing good Karmas has no sense. Since the Karmas are in our hands, elections (Muhuartas) are also in our hands. Vedic knowledge is full of dilations on Karmas & propitiations. For detailed study on Vedic system of elections please refer to my book titled "Hindu Electional Astrology"- a compendium on Muhurtas. http://www.besttime-election.com --- V K Shridhar
  5. Dear Anusha, Should you require more information about Muhurta (electional) astrology then refer to my book titled "Hindu Electional Astrology" website http://www.besttime-election.com .. V K Shridhar
  6. Dear Readers, Like horoscopy deals with only one radical chart at the birth time, Muhurt deals with figures of the Heaven at each activity conducted by the doer after his birth. Wise men who believe in human effort (Purushartha) & intent to endeavour for the righteous effort at right time, take the benefit of the knowledge blessed by our Sages. The guidance provided by this branch of knowledge is fundamental, & when effectively used along with the sound professional knowledge related to the activity, degree of success & Siddhi is almost certainly assured. This is the most useful part of the astrology, & its other branches merely play a (minor) supporting role to it. No other branch of the existing knowledge guides an aspirant about the most opportune time to initiate an activity enabling him achieve the highest expected success. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> Hindu electional astrology since the time immemorial from the birth of the Vedas is being profitably used in Yagyas & performing Samskaras (pronounced as Sanskaras - sacraments for purification of the body, mind & soul). None of these rites were thought possible without auspicious Muhurt. Without auspicious Muhurt they lose their purpose of purification. <o:p></o:p> By acting on auspicious Muhurt for conception & Punvasan Samskaras, one can have choice of sex of progeny; safety & health of foetus can be assured through Seemanta Samskar; warding of evil effects of planets & adverse birth time through Jaatakaram Samskar; higher level in wisdom, education, wealth & profession is achievable through Vidyaarambh (starting of education) Samskar; longevity, health, disease free life through tonsure Samskar; continuous gain of ornaments & the like through ear boring Samskar; spiritual development & purification through Upanayana Samskar (wearing a scared thread); health & proper medical development through Aanaprashan & first feeding in milk; felicitous, harmonious, mutual love, virtuous wife through matching of horoscopes, election of engagement & marriage; peace of the departed soul through proper last rites; are achieved on compliance of prescribed Muhurtas. <o:p></o:p> In lot many day to day activities, Muhurt has its role in achieving higher success through lesser efforts. Measure of pleasure & fruition of the desires are enhanced. Muhurt has its application in all the times to come including in the present socio-political & religious environments. Head of the state or Prime Minister shall have stable government, trouble free from foreign attacks or victory over enemy, better financial status & overall prosperity through oath / coronation at an auspicious Muhurt; war can be won if started at a selected time; safety & defence of army personnel in wearing of arms in specified election has been recommended; good yield, more fruits in starting tilling, sowing, harvesting storing in agriculture can certainly be expected if started at a fortunate time; for early removal of illness specific time has been prescribed for preparation & administration of medicine & taking bath on recovery; starting digging, laying foundation, fixing door frames & entrance gate, entering into house at a pre-determined auspicious time shall ensure safety, welfare, progeny & fortunes to the habitants; start of a travel of importance at favourable time for an aspirant shall surely bring success to him; wearing of ornaments & clothes in the prescribed Muhurt shall lead to prosperity & well being; fast progress, development & profits are assured in new venture & business initiated at felicitous Muhurt. The list is unending, & as the learned readers shall study the subject more & more, applications of Muhurt shall be explored for the aspirants.<o:p></o:p> ... V K Shridhar
  7. Dear Anusha, 11.9.2008 is an average / good Muhurt for marriage. Further local social customs / traditions override the dictums. Now on the said date - 11.9.2008- there is no Tara or Chandra Balam (Chandra Ashtam shall be prevailing) for the boy. For the girl, Tara is inauspicious but there is Chanrda Balam on the said date during Tula ascendent. For the marriage Muhurt, presence of either Tara or Chandra Balam is required for both the boy & girl, in addition to other favourable elements of Muhurt. There are diferent opnions of the exponents on these two aspects (Tara or Chadra Balam). However most of the exponents opine that Chandra Balam is more effective than favourable Tara; as it is difficult to find a day when the both aspects are favourable to the both persons. Now having fixed the date & time, the remedial measure is propitiation (Pooja) of the Moon before initiating the ceremony on 11.9.2008. According to the exponents, Muhurt for engagement is equally important. Best of luck. -- V K Shridhar
  8. Dear Anusha, Please note that when the time is not auspicious for marriage then, how that time can be auspicious for Upanyanam. In fact Upanayanam is the most sacred Samskar in Hindus, for which Muhurt must be very properly selected. Only Seemanta, Jaatkaram & first feeding can be done is the above said combust period, which are time bound activities and can not wait for auspicious time-- as per the exponents. However I am of the opinion that "First Feeding" is the most important activity (Samskar) which must be performed on the day selected by expert astrologer in Muhurt branch. If one is assured of continuous quality food with love & affection, for full life - other virtues shall follow. ... V K Shridhar
  9. Hi, Navamsha means - Navam Ansha. In Navamsha chart the sign is divided in 9 equal parts. However there is another theory of unequal 9 divisions in Annual Horoscopy. Navamsha chart is not only examined for marriage, but also for practically all the aspects examined in sign / house chart. Most of the astrologers examine aspects in D-9 chart also. In my opinion it shows inherent strength of the radical chart. ... V K Shridhar
  10. Dear Anusha & readers,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The solar month when the Sun transits Capricorn, is auspicious for good Muhurtas, especially when it coincides with Lunar month of Paush – according to most of the exponents.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> However the said period in not auspicious for solemnizing marriage and the like for the reasons given below:<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Jupiter and Venus are considered as the best benefic planets. When they are combust, no good Muhurtas are selected. Jupiter shall be combust from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:date Month="1" Day="10" Year="2009">10th January, 2009</st1:date> to <st1:date Month="2" Day="7" Year="2009">7th February, 2009</st1:date>. Further their Baal Avastha (infant stage) and Vridh Avastha (Old stage) periods are not included in auspicious Muhurtas.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Exponents differ regarding lengths of the said Avasthas. According to Sage Vasist for 5 days each they are in the said . Sage Garg considers this as 3 days while Acharya Keshvark as 7 days – to quote some. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Therefore the said period has not been included in Muhurtas for marriage in 2009.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> ... 11. INAUSPICIOUS TIME OF OATH BY THE NEXT <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region><st1:place>US</st1:place></st1:country-region> PRESIDENT – a debate <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p> </o:p> The next US President shall take oath on <st1:date Year="2009" Day="20" Month="1">20th January, 2009</st1:date> – which is observed as inauspicious time as per Vedic / Indian system of electional (Muhurt) astrology. Discussion herein is based on Indian system (Nirayana - Sidereal system) of astrology. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The oath is generally taken around mid-day on 20th January when according to Indian system of astrology Aries 21º shall be rising, with Moon in 8th house (6º 15´ - Scorpio, Anuradha asterism); While the Jupiter (9º 33´ – combust), Mercury ( 6º 38 – is combust & retrograde) and Rahu are with the Sun ( 6º 49´) are in the 10th house. Mars lord of ascendant and 8th is in 9th house. There is exchange of 5th lord Sun and 10th lord Saturn. Venus is in 11th house. Exact time of oath taking and the astro details of the oath taker are not known, therefore divisional charts and beneficence of the for the individual are not discussed. However it is essential that the election time is universally auspicious with co-occurrence of Muhurt Yogas and Panchaga Shuddhi; in addition to beneficial time in respect of transits of planets & Dasha, to the individual taking oath. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The day is Tuesday – considered malefic for taking oath / coronation; and certainly before mid-day.10th Tithi is beneficial being Poorna, but the Moon is waning, and thus weak. Anuradha asterism is held as beneficial for oath ceremony but its Tara Bala (strength) & favourable transit for the individual is to be examined with respect to the person taking oath. Vishti Karan (Bhadra) is universally held as the most inauspicious for such ceremonies; and it gets further ferocious with concurrence of Tuesday. Presence of inauspicious Shula Yoga further adds to inauspiciousness. Thus four out the five elements of Hindu Panchanga four are not in favour. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> There is no beneficial Yoga present on <st1:date Year="2009" Day="20" Month="1">20th January, 2009</st1:date> for auguring the said time as universally auspicious. Combination of 10th Tithi and Tuesday makes “Karkacha Yoga” – an adverse Yoga. Concurrence of Tuesday and Anuradha asterism makes “Kuyoga” held as malefic. The Moon shall be in 24th asterism from that of the transiting Sun, causing “Upgraha Dosha” – adverse for especially for marriage, travel and house related elections. Thus there is no assistance from any special Muhurt Yogas, considered essential for a beneficial election. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> In the election chart, the Moon is in 8th house – held as highly prohibited for initiating any beneficial activity. Thought its debilitation effects in 8th house gets cancelled, but shall have adverse effects on homes / houses, transport system and public in general of the country, with regards to their damage / destruction / losses. Retrograde & combust Mercury may cause severe adverse effects on communication systems, army, Government employees and servants. As per old Western school of thought in astrology, the Mercury being Cazimi, shall have beneficial effects. But Most of the modern followers do not agree with this old thought. Difference in their longitude is 0º 11´ 38˝, but some savior is that their declination is different. Retrograde planet especially Mercury is held by Western astrologers as certainly unfavourable in important elections. Lord of luck (9th house lord) Jupiter is combust and in the same Navamsha with the Sun; being functional malefic for Aries ascendant, may cause instability & disrepute to the ruler. Retrograde Saturn may breed some new unusual and unpleasant steps in diplomacy & governance; some of which shall be withdrawn at latter stages. Income, trade, wealth of the country shall certainly expand and flourish. Thus election chart does not augurs towards beneficence. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The detailed analysis can only be made after knowing the exact time of taking oath; but the above effects can be mitigated to some extent. From 12 hrs 0 min to 12 hrs 38 min, Abhijin / Abhijit Muhurt prevails, which has immense power to reduce / annihilate adverse effects – as per Vedic astrology. Further Mars as lord of the ascendant in 9th house is another beneficial aspect in the election chart. But in general the said time is not observed as auspicious for taking oath by the head of state of the most powerful country. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The purpose of this article is to trigger a discussion among the Muhurt astrologers (both from east & west) to examine the suitability of the oath time and possibility of recommending another suitable time, after thorough debate, getting benefits Vedic electional astrology which has withstood test of time for the last 5 millenniums. Muhurt (electional) astrology was originated in Vedic era, and is considered as the most useful branch of Hindu astrology. Of late westren astrologers have also started following it. But need of the hour is that remedial advice should be given in advance. --- V K Shridhar <o:p></o:p>
  12. ABHIJIT MUHURT<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> For the benefit of aspirants seeking auspicious Muhurta (election) as per Vedic / Hindu astrology, Abhijit Muhurt is discussed herein.<o:p></o:p> Abhijit Muhurt is a powerful election as per Hindu astrology. Exponents of Vedic / Hindu Muhurt (electional) astrology have prescribed Abhijit Muhurt (election) as on of the most powerful election & has general acceptance of exponents for initiating a wide spectrum of life activities, especially for fruition of worldly activities. It has power to annihilate / destroy numerous malevolent influences in elections. However, its efficacy is enhanced by presence of special Muhurt Yogas, prescribed beneficial Hindu Panchang elements, luminous Moon, fortified & purified ascendent, specific disposition of election related planets, favourable transits of the planets to the aspirant etc. etc. This election is that powerful that some exponents have praised to the extent that when a suitable election is not available, it can be selected for fruition of the desires. <o:p></o:p> This election is as or similarly powerful as Vijay Dashmi, Ravi Yoga, Sade-Teen Muhurt, Sarva-Karya-Arambha Muhurt, Gow-Dhuli, and Vijay Muhurt & Amrit Ghatis for initiating a wide spectrum of life activities. How to calculate duration of Abhijit Muhurt <o:p></o:p> Abhijit Muhurt starts from 24 minutes before the Local Noon Time (LNT) & remains till 24 minutes thereafter (total duration 48 minutes) for 12-hour duration of daytime. For variable length of daytime its duration should be calculated proportional to non-nocturnal (daytime) length. Proportional election time (total duration) of this election is 15th part of the daytime length. Thus at a place of activity on a given day the election shall be current during: <o:p></o:p> LNT ± [(proportional election time) ÷ 2]<o:p></o:p> = [(Sunset time + Sunrise time)÷2] ± [(Sunsettime - Sunrisetime) ÷ 30] <o:p></o:p> For example if Sunrise is at 07.00 IST & the Sunset time is 18.00 IST at a place of an activity then, its total duration shall be 44 minutes (11 ÷12 x 48 = 44 m). Local Noon Time shall be 12.30 IST. The said election time shall start from 12.08 & ends at 12.52 IST (12.30 ± 22 m). <o:p></o:p> In the corresponding duration during night-time, equally auspicious election prevails which is called ‘Brahma Muhurt’. Most of the authoritative writers have eulogized this Muhurt as suitable to initiate all types of works, & as the most powerful & efficacious Muhurt capable of removing plurality of maleficence (Doshas). <o:p></o:p> Lord Shiva killed a powerful demon named Tripurasur in this Muhurt. This Muhurt has blessing of Lord Vishnu who destroys innumerable Doshas with His Sudarshan Chakra during the currency of this Muhurt. Aspirants (not having in-depth knowledge of Muhurt astrology) may select this powerful election for day-to-day life activities without going into intricacies of the knowledge regarding election & ephemeris. <o:p></o:p> Exceptions : But this powerful Muhurt is not suitable for auspicious / sacraments (Manglik activities like marriage, Upanayana etc.) functions on Wednesdays, as it forms a malefic Muhurt. Further travel in the South direction should be refrained during this powerful election. <o:p></o:p> Some exponents have advised that ± 4 minutes of time (total 8 minutes) from the junction of forenoon & after-noon (mid-day), and also the first & latter part of night (mid-night - Mahanisha) are malefic & should be refrained in a benefic Muhurt (elections). Thus aspirants should not use this election during LNT ± 4 minutes. --V K Shridhar<o:p></o:p> <o:p>besttime.election@gmail.com </o:p>
  13. Dear Surentharp & Deepa Ji, Thanks for further elaboration & reply dated 18.8.2008 Now Dear Readers, From the above discussion & clarifications you should NOT get frigtened if KSY or Kal Sarp Dosha exists in your horoscope. Do not get exploited by astrologers on this account. However there is nothing wrong if you recite the recommended pious Mantras, that too by yourself. With best wishes V K Shridhar -------------- besttime.election@gmail.com

Please enlighten the readers the source ( I mean original treatise on Hindu astrology- and not the book written by some recent authors) from where you have culled out the above said 12 types of KSY. I know some recent books have given the above details, but have failed yet again to quote the source. In my reply dated 14.8.2008, I had quoted "Narpatijacharya" that similar combination is used in specific Muhurtas, and not in delineation of horoscopes. Best of wishes. --- Shridhar:smash:

  18. Dear Ayush, Rahu & Ketu always move in retrograde mode. So called Kal Sarpa Yoga / Dosha, is never "Aanshik". Either it is there or not there. Certainly "Aanshik Kal Sarpa Yoga" is another misconception. Be sure that none of our olt treatises on astrology refer to Kal Sarpa Yoga / Dosha. Best of luck, -- Shridhar
  19. Dear Amila, If degrees of Saturn is less than that of the Rahu then, so called Kal Sarpa Dosha exists in your horoscopes. Do not woory on thius account. Read my comments dated 14.8.2008 above. Best of luck. -- Shridhar
  20. Dear readers, So called "Kal Sarpa Dosha" is formed when there is no planet between Rahu and Ketu in the horoscope. Since Rahu moves in reverse direction, the position of planet(s) is to be seen in reverse direction. For example, if Rahu is in Scorpio 10 degrees, Ketu shall be in Taurus 10 degrees in the horoscope. If all the planets are between the arc formed by -- Scorpio 10 degrees to Scorpio 0 degrees, Libra, Virgo, Leo, Cancer, Gemini and Taurus 30 degrees to 10 degrees-- then the Kal Sarpa Yoga / Dosha is said to be present in the exampled horoscope. It is examined in case of Muhurt for war, litgation and the like , and travel. Any luminiary (the Sun & the Moon) in the above said arc is called in Mrit (dead) Paksha. For details one can study book titled "Narpatijacharya". Luminiaries in the Mrit & Jeeva pakshas have different effects in the above said Muhurtas. The said effects are not to be examined in horoscopes. Any how the present day astrologers are of the opinion that all the planets in the Mrit Paksha have adverse effects -- logic best known to them only. According to Narpatijacharya (an authoritative exponent in War & Swar branch of Hindu astrology), the Sun in Mrit Paksha is beneficial in travel Muhurtas. Both the Sun & the Moon, if are in Mrit Paksha then, both the attacker & defender, lose in war / battle / litigation activity if initiated in such planetary position. So dear readers, do not worry if Kal Sarpa Yoga / Dosha is there in your horoscope. Bill Gate is having this Yoga in his horoscope. Readers may refer to my book titled "Hindu Electional Astrology" - a compendium on Muhurtas. --- V K Shridhar (14.8.2008)
  21. Mr. Kapil, KSY is a new found of recent astrologers. There is no reference of KSY in any of our tretises on astrology. Sh K N Rao, a noted astrologer, has expressed this opinion. So do not worry and get exploited by the astrologers on this account - in my opnion. There are so many good features in the said horoscopes. Venus is exalted in 9th house (denoting good luck in general). Mercury is exalted, Mars, the Moon & Jupiter are well placed in Navamsha chart. To mitigate effects of Moon & Saturn in 5th house , it is advised to wear pearl or a plain silver ring, preferably without joint in left hand little finger. God bless !
  22. SHUNYA TITHI<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> There is confusion between “Shunya Tithi”; “Kshaya Tithi” and “ Vridhi Tithi” in the above explanation.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> If a Tithi starts after <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1:place>Sunrise</st1:place></st1:City> and ends before the <st1:City><st1:place>Sunrise</st1:place></st1:City> on the next day, it is called “Kshaya Tithi” (diminutive). During currency of such Tithi there is no <st1:City><st1:place>Sunrise</st1:place></st1:City>.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> If a Tithi contains two Sunrises then, it is called “Vridhi Tithi” (intercalatery), also called “Adhika Tithi”<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Both the Tithis are unsuitable for any beneficial Muhurt (election). These are similar to Kshaya and Adhika Maas. The Sun is source of all energies and represents soul in Muhurtas, and the Moon which gets light from the Sun, represents mind. The Kshaya Tithi not getting rejuvenated, can not be beneficial to the humanity. Thus activities related to Dharam, Arth, Kaam & Moksha do not fructify especially during Kshaya Tithi. A Paksha having two Kshaya Tithis (thus having only 13 Shuddha Tithis) is called “Vishvaghastra Paksha”: and generates fear among the masses, and is thus unsuitable for the beneficial Muhurtas. However according to Sage Vasist , if Jupiter is in quadrant of an election chart then, the above Dosha is removed; and urgent activities can be performed. Kshaya & Vridhi Tithis is local geographical phenomenon, and not celestial. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> “<st1:place>Maas</st1:place> Shunya Tithis” are specific Tithis during specific months during which a work initiated does not succeed.
