suchandra: The question was raised if Srila Puri Maharaja has appointed a successor and how his mission will go on? i know that there's a successor... with some discussions going on (as natural in such situations). But i am out of this.. i like very much some advanced devotees of my gurudeva and i consider them possibile real spiritual masters, tattva darshinah.. i associete with them, taking advices and doing some service, but i do not partecipate so much in the math's life. I am siksa disciple of Srila Paramadvaiti Maharaja and my home is a World Vaishnava Association center (Gurudeva BVPuri Maharaja was one of the founders.. the president is Bhakti Vallabha Tirtha MRJ..) Srila Puri Maharaja is the head of Gaudiya MAth or what ? there's no one gaudya math.. gaudya sampraya is many branches.. iskcon, chaitanya mission (bvpuri mrj), sarasvata gaudya math and so on.. hare krishna!

harekrsna prabhu, i apologize to have not remembered to answer to some your emails, but now i cannot avoid to try to help you ad your kind request acharya is not a sectarian word, acharya means "who teachs the behaviour" and "who teachs by behaviour"... so both Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva are acharyas. Our Guru Maharaja many times stated that Srila Prabhupada is an extraordinary saint and He is only a common human . I have heard that He, in Italy, refused to give class and remain in a devotee's home who had not a single picture of Srila Prabhupada: "you cannot make any spiritual advancement if you do not have a place in your house of Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja!!" Do you love Srila Prabhupada? Do you consider Him your saviour? In this way you are adopting the behaviour (achara) taught by our beloved Srila Gurudeva.. are you thinking in the same way of our Guru Maharaja? Well you are executing the instruction of Srila Prabhupada and Krsna who, in Bhagavad Gita as it is, state that it is impossible to advance spiritually without surrendering to a spiritual teacher who is tattva darshinah, who sees the absolute truth, Sri Krsna Bhagavan.. and our Srila Gurudeva Bhakti Vaibhava Puri Goswami Maharaja is a bona fide guru, an uttama vaishnava, an autentic friend of Krsna in Goloka Vrindaban So it is possible to develope a pure love for Prabhupada and Krsna only if we execute Their instruction, not if we superficially praise them, and the instruction is to surrender to a uttama adhikari vaishnava to understand all the whole spiritual reality, Prabhupada and Prabhupada's Books included.. Please do not feel separation between our fathers, in spiritual realm there's no exclusivism and competition, Srila Prabhupada has come in the west with great effort and extraordinary devotion to teach us mainly to surrender to vaishnavas.. if we do it, automatically we'll surrender to Him.. that's my opinion.. i do not see any conflict, i consider impossible to surrender to Prabhupada if i do not surrender to my Guru Maharaja.. let us wait for the opinion of expert devotees, do not be frustrated, until we do not reach the spiritual platform doubts will be forever with us...you are very sincere and you have a great faith in devotees association.. for this reason you are making such important questions here let us wait for the answers of real devotees... harekrsna!!! chant it and be happy!!!

why are you saying like that? karthik is simply asking for a little procedural detail. Not "why i sing that song?" but "why we sing that song before srimad bhagavatam lesson?" and the prabhus have answered

prabhupada's mood is " tad viddhi pranipatena. pariprasnena sevaya..." you have simply to accept guidance from someone who's "tattva darshina", one who sees the truth.. krishna if you do like that, even if apparently you will belong to a different institution, you will fulfill the prabhupada's will and you'll realize iskcon in the earth and in your heart other things are details... every guru changes something, or he's not a guru Circumstances changes and teaching changes..the essential thing is to accept the guidance of a pure devotee, there's not much time to live, death can come at any moment, there's only few pure devotees in this world, it is a real offence to let them go without having taken shelter in them imho

ask to me whatever you want, but ask also to other devotees, i am not an authority i don't know if i have understood well.. but i try if you like to chant 64 rounds and you want to chant sri gur pranam and panchatattva mantra less times, or even only before starting to chant i do not find it wrong if you have heard the recordings of srila prabhupada and srila guru maharaja when they chant japa, they do not chant homages and panchattattva mantra at every start of the round so there's no problem for you, if you chant these mantras only at the start, or less than 64 times, if you remain convinced that mahamantra is given to you by guru and gauranga this is my humble opinion (you are a very good devotee if you chant all these rounds.. i do a great effort even to chant 16 of them) hare krishna

~Is serving Srila Gurudeva a matter of just doing as he says? ++yes, the spiritual master gives general instructions and individual instructions.. following them is like we were following direct orders given personally by sri krsna. If we surrender we satisfy guru, krsna, vaishnavas and we will be successiful ~Does Krishna tell Srila Gurudeva from within the heart when I do something right, or is there some connection through Diksya that Gurudeva knows. ++krsna is omnipotent, the guru is omnipotent because he's empowered by krsna. So in my opinion there's not too much to speculate wich qualities are from the guru itself and wich qualities are given by krsna, the spiritual master is simply constantly absorbed in krsna, he sees krsna, he talks with krsna, he feels krsna he acts only for krsna and krsna fully reciprocates giving to him any shakti to know the soul and mind of the conditioned souls for the purpose to save them ~If I am unable to do something or I do some mistake i.e. not reading so much is that going against orders of Srila Gurudeva? ++of course ~Surrender {carry on from above question}, how do I or when do I know when I surrender to Gurudeva, or do I think I surrender to Krishna, before Srila Gurudeva. ++we will know when we will be fully surrendered because we will see krsna.. and this will happen when we will surrender to the spiritual master, there's not a separate way to do it. Spiritual master is "tattva darshina", he sees the truth, krsna, so he can show what he sees to us, and krsna "obeys" to the order of his pure devotee making Himself visible to our eyes ~Do the qualities of the soul exhibit only by chanting, or by Surrender. ++chanting and surrendering are the same thing.. the spiritual master comes from goloka with the only purpose to make us remember our original relationship with krsna. So, being the only way in this kali yuga, he gives to us the simple method of chanting. So by chanting we execute perfectly the order given by the spiritual master, and gradually, hearing constantly this name, we will remember the One who is correlated with this name ... krsna. Or better, being the name non different by the subject, surrendering to the name we will surrender to krsna i hope it helps... now let's hear from expert devotees harekrishna!!

hare krishna..i hope in future that our communication will be better. But in this circumstance this is a benedition because, putting it in public, the real senior devotees, not mine, can listen to your question and answer properly.. i am a neophite.. i have a little devotion and, when i pray, i find useless to discriminate between krsna aspects.... i chant my rounds as a not so pleasant duty and i do not feel any happines in chanting them, if not, sometimes, some satisfaction to have fulfilled, even in a very bad way, the promise made to our guru maharaja.. if i am in some difficulty i pray... but i pray generically to krsna that i imagine in the famous tribunga pose surrouded by nature, peacocks,cows and so on we are not polytheists... when you pray to a manifestation of krsna you are praying to the same trascendental person, so i do not understand where's the problem in choosing to ask the mercy of sri radhe or sri chaitanya mahaprabhu. My opinion is that if we think that srimati radhika cannot give the mercy of sri chaitanya, or the opposite, we are making an offence. So, if when you pray krsna, you pray him in his manifestation as srimati radharani, i cannot find any fault in it.. krsna is pleased by it, and even sri chaitanya mahaprabhu -- for the next question...... chaitanya mahaprabhu, to show the right path, shows the personality of a humble pratictioneer of bhakti yoga.. but we cannot deal with him confidentially thinking he's not god, without making offences gaura arati is a central part of our worship....: " On Lord Caitanya's right side is Lord Nityananda and on His left is Sri Gadadhara. Nearby stands Sri Advaita, and Srivasa Thakura is holding an umbrella over Lord Caitanya's head. " so if srila takura bhaktivinoda thinks at chaitanya mahaprabhu as the supreme lord, surrounded and worshiped by the devatas in a jeweled asana, i think that we have to do the same.... with the exception of some archana customs that recommend to not put the peacok feather on mahaprabhu's head to not disturb his humble mood harekrishna.... correct me if i am wrong... jaya gurudeva, jaya prabhupada! "I wanted to ask the devotees here whether they offer their food everyday to the Lord and does it matter how much advanced you are in devotional service, or what mode is in control of you, in order to offer food?" in gaudya vaishnava's tradition the devotees at any stage of advancement are taught to avoid anything that it is not offered to krsna so devotees offer vegetarian food with more or less elaborate procedures given by the spiritual master or, when it is necessary, at least mentally chanting the hare krsna mahamantra i do like that using the procedure given by srila bhaktivedanta swami prebhupada

Sri krsna janmastami is 6 september.. but you have to check every year or to learn the calculation rules for the vaishnava/vedic/hindu holydays the most important celebration for krsna janmastami is to spend more time we can in chanting: hare krishna.. hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare we can do it on our own doing japa mala or musical bhajan, or better, together with parents, relatives and friends this is absolutely the most important thing to do... it is the real celebration.. .. the tradition says also that, if possible, we have to fast completely until midnight, then we can respect a prasadam (vegetarian food offered to krsna) without grains and legumes (like ekadasi) the next day is nadotsava and simultaneously the birthday of srila bhaktivedanta swami prabhupada.. the duty of chanting hare krishna and reading or having krsna katha and spiritual conversations with guests and relatives continues... and we can have a complete feast of prasadam (with grains and everything) after noon (prasadam is any vegetarian food and drink with no meat, no eggs, no fish, no alcohol, no tea, no coffee that you can offer to the picture of sri krsna by praying sicerely him to accept your offering and simply chanting a while the hare krsna mahamantra) of course the celebration of sri krsna janmastami could be much more elaborated, but, as every act of devotion, it depends almost exclusively on sincerity, so if we are sincere in doing these simple acts, this is a real and effective way to celebrate Krsna Janmastami
