According to my horoscope my ishta devata is signified by Sun which indicates Rama. Although I have great reverence for Rama I am not an ardent devotee of Rama. I am very drawn to the Divine Mother - Durga being my favorite. Astrologically I have a very strong and benefic moon in my chart. So I would presume praying to the Divine Mother is beneficial for me. So I am very drawn to choosing Durga as my ishta devta. What is your advice on this matter? If I consider Durga as my ishta devata how can I gain her shakti? Hello, My husband's birth details are as follows: DoB: June 22, 1956 Place of birth: Luanceston, Tasmania, Australia Time: 4.30 am It is possible that his birth time is not the exact time and only an approximate time. Since he was 18 he has had various health problems that were sometimes difficult to diagnose. Can someone please check his chart and throw some light on what his chart indicates healthwise. Dear Deepa Ji, Thanks for putting things in perpective. I have always had interests in spirituallity. Since my ketu period began I have been going through a phase where I have developed dettachment to a lot of things. So it has been rather liberating in a way. So you are right about that. But oddly enough, I also got married during my Ketu period and I am quite happily married at the moment. The ketu period has also been a time where I have been re-evaluating things such as career, lifestyle, spiritual calling etc. But as you say what is important is to approach everything with the right perspective. It is interesting that you have mentioned keeping a pet dog as a remedy. I don't have a dog but ever since my ketu period began I am visited by a big grey tom cat everyday. He belongs to a neighbour but prefers to come and hang around at my place for most part of the day. In fact he is sleeping on my coffee table this very minute as I write this! And I do enjoy having him around. In fact my ketu period has not been unpleasant, I have just been re-evaluating a lot of things. Thanks for clarifying the issue about the nodes. Point taken about the importance of looking at the whole chart rather than just planetray combinations. You see, I have Jupiter and Ketu combined in the 4th house in Virgo. The combination is aspected by Saturn + Venus + Rahu from the 10th in Pisces. I am running Ketu maha dasha at the moment and was a bit concerned about the negative views on the Jupiter-Ketu combination. So far it hasn't been an unpleasant period but I have been questioning my direction in life. So not very clear on where I am heading or where I am going to end-up! Dear Appolonius, Dont be disheartened or think of suicide as the solution. I hope you will follow the advise you are given here and get some help from an expert who deals with possessions. In the mean time surrender to the Divine Mother and ask for her protection. I am certain She will intervene. Also remember that the demon feeds off the fear in your heart. So send it love (this might sound impossible but it is worth a try) and ask it to leave you alone. And never fear there is no demon that the Devi can't defeat. I wish you luck.

Dear Astro_tech ji, Thank you very much for your analysis. It is much appreciated. It is interesting what you said about my need to be physically and mentally tired to feel fullfilled with work. For the past two years I have been working as an environmental consultant (office based work) and have begun feeling quite bored. So I am now training as a remedial massage therapist and will be soon woking part time as a massage therapist. Massage can be quite physically exhausting work. So when I opted to train as a massage therapist I must have selected a form of work that I needed without consciously knowing the reasons. Would you agree with that? You mentioned that during the next moon antradasha (Sep 2008) I will find some good solutions. I am pleased about that. In fact within the next few months I plan to get established as a massage therapist and pranic healer. Could this be what is coming up in the moon antradasha? Astro-tech ji, could you also advise if my spiritual calling is to become a renunciate at some stage? I would like to add that, I am quite happy with my life but I feel if I follow my true spiritual calling I will expereince an added dimension of bliss! Your thoughts are much appreciated. I have had various jobs but after some time I would loose interest and wish to move on to something else. One astrologer said that Rahu in 10th is responsible for this. Although Rahu is in 10th with lord of a trine (Venus) which is supposed to cause Raja Yoga I have not had any great career opportunities coming my way. Sometimes I feel I have not yet found the profession that I am meant to be in. So I have lots of questions and uncertainties around my career. I have sometimes wondered if I should become a renunciate as the very idea makes me feel very inspired but I am not sure if that is my calling. By the way I am not particularly unhappy with my life but I feel I am not living up to my potential and therefore not living life to the fullest. Can someone please advise me????
