My dear Kshama, My great grandfathers both on my parent`s side smoked. my grandfathers( deceased) both on my parent`s side smoked. My father who is a doctor stopped smoking 10 years ago( he`s now 80 years old). This way of life (not a habit) I do believe is in my genes. Might as well be a corpse if don`t smoke. Shame on me if I chose medicine as my profession when I couldn`t even say no to smoking. There`s a saying, " You practice what priests preached, but don`t follow what they do in private." But there are way of lives worst than smoking. These are eating and sex. And that`s another story. Haribol!

the only thing i feel this heaviness on my chest is not being able to save the life of a patient which i was supposed to do but was helpless to do so. a very anemic patient under my care should have lived if we gave her blood transfusion but couldn`t because she was a jehovah`s witness. their religion wont allow them blood transfusion.

there`s a pulmonary doctor i know who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day. 2 years ago they admitted me in the icu due to a heart attack. i was smoking right before the attack came. so, tell me. how can you cure a way of life?

aren`t we all hindus in the 1st place even if we were not born in india? the culture in goloka vrndavan in the spiritual sky is hindu. the reflection she gave the planet on earth when it fell got in contact with matter. the one reflection that passed through the screen/filter reached that part on earth we call india. so its just a matter of time to realize that those who were not born in india they, too, were hindus after they have shed off matter.

i`ll be 52 years old on november 3. life is short. the average life span of human beings is 65. there`s a difference of 13 years before i turn 65. what if along the way i won`t reach 65?

sant, we call the hibiscus flower " gumamela ". she comes with a variety of colors, red ones, yellow-orange, orange, yellow,etc. my father dr. mario c. mabalay, a dermatologist, pathologist, and family physician has turned our front lawn into a jungle of gumamela plants. i always wondered why. now, i know. thanks!

lord caitanya did`nt want of any of these, did he? but it came in droves. what did he say to sanatana goswami regarding his wealth? what did he say to his beautiful wife? what did he say to his followers when they came? did he threw them away?

i hope this will end the issue to quote lord caitanya, " O almighty Lord, I have no desire to accumulate wealth, nor do I desire beautiful women, nor do I want any number of followers. I only want Your causeless devotional service birth after birth." because they will just come to you without asking?

people don`t have to be cruel and ruthless. a straight forward yes or no would suffice. people want some answers. like going inside a gov`t agency, the tax department. there were so many there asking questions from a corrupt employee. when my turn came all i wanted was an answer if i was qualified to be given a tax refund. neither did he said no or yes. he just stared at me. do i have to say this again that indeed money talks?
