Afghanistan were at it

we helped, gave artillary and then booked leaving them stranded

not so much as a mint on the pillow

or a call the next day

wham bam here ya go taliban!

i do not blame them in a way fer going with the first person to feed

them and take care of them

maybe there was nothing else they could do

but like i said, i don't know much about what happened back then

Are you in princible for , or against abortion?

Also would be interested to hear the view of the parents you mentioned,on the Eden life-style described on the first page of the first book of the Bible.Funny , after that it's basically down hill all the way through-out the Bible!

Ok, I want to know the name of the embryo that was able to speak and say it felt no pain!Sorry! But uh, how do you know? After all, not 3 months ago I thought it was ok to eat meat because the animals weren't tortured.Whether you believe in God er not, you shouldn't get to play him.nikki :) just my two-cents, "simonpjones" <simonpjones@o...> wrote:> If an embro dosn't feel pain, then it probably wasn't design to at that stage in it's life,as it wouldn't in normal circumstance probably need to, in the safety of the womb, who knows'> > I knew a elderly bloke a few years ago, who was born slightly disabled, he said it was due to his mother trying to abort him using a knitting needle.> She must of felt very guilty to have told him the truth.> > Simon >To send an email to -

I'm not arguing because I don't have much solid info - just bits that

I've heard on the radio, but I was under the impression that in the

UK it is proposed that embryos left over from successful ivf

treatments be used for stem cell research, rather than just being

destroyed. If this is the case I really can't see the problem.

I am very surprised to hear that embryos are being deliberately

created in labs, purely because of the difficulty in obtaining the

raw materials to do so. Sperm is easy enough to get hold of (right,

guys?) but I know from a friend who underwent ivf that eggs are a

very different matter. I find it hard to envisage any sane female

going through the horrendous hormone treatments and

unpleasant " harvesting " procedure just to allow embryos to be created

in the lab. Of course I may be mistaken.

As for pain, it is generally believed that in order to feel pain

there must be some kind of nervous system. The stem cell research

would (I understand) be carried out using embryos many weeks younger

than would be required for a CNS to be viable.

Cheers

Cathy

Too true Peter - I'm certainly not willing to discuss it.

Jo

First off - everyone...be careful, and remember to keep polite. I've seen this discussion kill lists way too often, as it's very highly charged!!

I would have to say that I would be shocked if anyone was actually "for abortion". I would think a better way to put it would be to use the generally accepted phrases for the two sides: pro-life or pro-choice.

This is dangerous - you could get me started talking about the America

Revolution, and then everyone will be asleep before I've stopped :-)

But - yes - the British government did do some pretty hefty taxing in

America which was at least part of the problem. But the Boston Tea Party is

an interesting event if only because the vast majority of those involved

were members of the local Freemasonic Lodge.

Hi Nikki

> more about the local lodge please

OK - there were actually two lodges in Boston - and quite some rivalry. The

" original " was St Johns, which was warranted by the English Grand Lodge,

then another " irregular " lodge started up. St John's complained about this,

and so the knew lodge got a warrant from Scottish Grand Lodge - and became

St Andrew's. Incidentally, at this time, Scottish Freemasonry and English

Freemasonry were very much enemies: the English Grand Lodge were thoroughly

behind the Hanoverian monarchy, and the Scots still largely supported the

Stuarts. Suffice to say, there was a touch of tension there.

St Andrew's is the main one of interest - amongst its members were Joseph

Warren (the Grand Master), John Hancock and Paul Revere. Anyway, here's

where it starts to get complex, so hold on to your seat....

St Andrew's lodge met in " The Long Room " of Freemasons Hall in Boston - they

shared that room, and had a huge overlap of membership with several other

organisations: " The Long Room Club " (also run by Joseph Warren), the

" Committee of Correspondence " which included Warren and Revere, the " Sons of

Liberty " including Paul Revere (busy guy!!) - also, the " Loyal Nine " - a

third of whom were members of St Andrew's.

Now, although St Andrew's Lodge consisted of several dozen members, on the

night of the " Tea Party " , only 5 turned up for the regular Lodge meeting -

and business was postponed due to a lack of members present. Of those

involved in the Tea Party (on the side of the colonists), 24 are known to

have been members of St Andrews. Rather interestingly, there were two

detachments of militia supposedly guarding the ship - without their

collusion (or, at least, apathy) the raiders wouldn't have got anywhere. By

pure coincidence(???!!!!), the captain of one of these detachments was

Edward Proctor - a member of.....St Andrew's Lodge! At least nine other

members of the 48 strong militia were members of either St Andrew's Lodge or

of the Loyal Nine.

Is that enough for ya?
