Guest guest
What is everyone doing tomorrow for 9/11/02? Last year I was on my way from home (Chicago, IL) to my work's corporate office in Racine, WI. when DH called me to tell me of the first plane that hit the WTC. As I drove the entire 2 1/2 hour trip North, I was back and forth talking to him, my other family members and friends. All I remember thinking was, will I make it back home? Is it possible to cancel this trip? Will they close the roads? Unfortunately I ended up spending the entire day in WI a complete basket-case. This year, I am staying close to my family. Not necessary out of fear, but more so out of remembrance and respect. Last year took a heavy toll on this family as we never moved from the t.v. set for days. I remember there wasn't a commercial or a show on for at least a week after the tragic event. NON-stop news on every channel as this nation tried to adjust. I think this year will be a spirited one for the USA. I pray that every nation and everyone have a safe and uneventful day. I taught Zak "The Pledge of Allegiance" and "God Bless America" in one day. This was days before his 3rd b-day. And taught him what the US flag meant and about our country. He picked it up! I guess he knew it was something important. So this year, I will be close to him and will salute our country, our freedom and our rights. And all those who fight for our freedom whether military or not. Those who fight for their own freedom in other countries as well. So many things could be improved on in this country I know, but so many things are right as well. I want to focus on those for awhile and my family and friends. This includes all of you! No agenda prepared for tomorrow. No plans. Wearing red, white and blue and smiling proudly at my life. Because though it is far from perfect, it is mine! And NO ONE, will EVER be able to take my beliefs away from me! Lighting a candle for those lives lost last year and past years. And lighting another for hope in the years to come. So what will you all do? I am especially interested in hearing from other countries as well. How has this affected or not affected you? Hugz and Hope to all! Nikki

Guest guest
Hi Nikki I shall be having a normal day, and trying to avoid listening to the radio and television. I know it was a big thing for Americans, and I really feel sorry for all the people who were killed or injured and their families and friends. It was a terrible thing to happen. Unfortunately the American government doesn't seem to learn that the way they treat other countries can come back on them. I shall be hoping that the American and British governments have some miraculous change of heart and do not kill tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi people. Guest guest
Hi Nikki > What is everyone doing tomorrow for 9/11/02? Working!!! Nothing particularly unusual. > Last year I was on my way from home (Chicago, IL) to my work's corporate office in Racine, WI. Last year, I was also at work!! I just remember a "buzz" going round, and the TV in the employee lounge suddenly being turned on and everyone gathering round. Being interested in the conspiracy side of things, my immediate reaction was: who does America want to start a war with at the moment - I was betting on Iraq being the target of retaliation attacks. OK, I was a year out - but not bad, I think. I must admit, I was also surprised at how much I underestimated the complexity of the plans (i.e. the length of time they've managed to keep the energies subdued, etc. etc.) > So this year, I will be close to him and will salute our country, our freedom and our rights. Whether it will work or not we can't prove, but doing something is better than doing nothing. It is a shame the media is doing all it can to keep people's vibrations low, and most people seem only too pleased to go along with it. Guest guest
Good Morning Peter *sigh* Ya know, I'm getting a heck of a lot of flack from people with the pride I have for my country. So let me explain please. I'm sorry, but I do have pride. Don't get me wrong, there are SOOOOOO MANY things that need to be changed. And I don't mean fixed, I mean wiped out and re-written. But, there are some good things. And having been on the end of some of those good things and seeing what this country did for my grandparents when they fled Germany as one exmaple, yes, I do have pride for my country. Thing is, if I am to live here and call it home, it is up to me to fix it. Me. And for me to sit here and do nothing but trash it (not that you are doing this at all Peter!) and to not try to take action, is being a hypocrit. What good are opinions if they just sit there. So yes, today I will celebrate the part of the country I love and everyday I will continue to try and fix what is broken. Maybe if enough people did that, something will eventually get fixed. Our government needs to be eradicated, but if everyone only says that and doesn't start working for it, it will never ever happen. Or, maybe I should just learn to keep my mouth shut! Maybe that one! Anyways, Thx Peter for yer reply. I truly appreciate it! And it helps me to grow as a person to get all the feedback I possibly can. I would never want to walk through life with blinders on believing my view is the only view. Thx fer the vibes too, coming through loud and clear and very refreshing! nikki , " Peter " <Snowbow@b...> wrote: > Hi Nikki > > > What is everyone doing tomorrow for 9/11/02? > > Working!!! There's nothing wrong with having pride! :-) Personally, I think the only major problem with most of the Western world (including America) is the people who rule it! The problem is that it doesn't help to replace a President or Prime Minister, because it is not these people who are really ruling our countries - it is the people " behind the scenes " who are the problem. As soon as someone looks like becoming a leader of a country, they are immediately gathered in by the real powers and told what they must do. The answer to resolving the problems in both America and the UK doesn't revolve around changing the basic concepts which are the foundations of the political systems - it revolves around exposing and removing the group who are orchestrating events to get and keep more and more power. Once those people are exposed, the countries would stand a chance of operating the way they are meant to! BB Peter --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Well it was yesterday now, but I was on a pro-life protest against the use of human embryos for stem cell research, so I would certainly say I was involved in something life-affirming. I got there quite late as the trains were pretty unreliable, and I had to get my two older children to school first, but I was there when a photographer took a photo of is, so there might be a picture of us in the Daily Mail today, if anyone sees it I am the one with the baby. We all wore t-shirts with the words former embryo on them. Most of the others on the demo were young people but they made us feel very welcome. Lesley Here is the posting about it copied from another I am on: theukonlineprolifemovement Student LifeNet Press Release - 9/9/02 PRESS RELEASE FROM STUDENT LIFENET 9 September 2002 WE ARE ALL FORMER EMBRYOS SAY STUDENTS Students will demonstrate outside the Medical Research Council's stem cell bank launch on September 11 outside the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, in Gloucester Road in London, from 9am until midday, with t- shirts which read " FORMER EMBRYO " . " No matter what euphemism they use, no scientist can deny that each of us started life as an embryo. It is unacceptable to kill or destroy any of us for research, so how can they justify the killing of human embryos, which is what we were twenty years ago? " " When we meet conference delegates, who will include Lord Sainsbury the science minister, we hope that the message on our t-shirts will jolt them into realising that their conference is about experimenting on and destroying young human beings. " " Medical research should be about saving life not destroying it. These scientists should be getting on with the real work of finding cures through the less hyped, and less lucrative, but completely ethical arena of adult stem cell research, which is already leaving embryonic stem cell research and the profit-driven Medical Research Council way behind. " " We appeal to MPs and the public to join with us in opposing the commercial exploitation of our tiny fellow human beings. Guest guest
Good Morning Peter! Yer absolutely right! And until we as a people stand up in unity and do something about it, it will not happen. Politics and money flow too easily together. I think America personally needs to re-write it's Constitution and Bill of Rights. It was written for our founding fathers way of life which has drastically changed. Unfortunately, I cannot think of anyone I would trust to rewrite it either and I can only imagine the civil wars that would erupt from the attempt. I had quite an intense conversation yesterday with a very opinionated friend of mine. He is truly a wonderful person, but has some ideas that turn me stomach. And he says things not really considering the consequences nor the truth behind them. He told me we (America) should shut our doors and send back all of the immigrants. I said and where would you go? He said, What do ya mean? I said which country would you proclaim as yer own, because to send back all the immigrants means only full- blooded Native Americans and Mexicans derived from Spain (Mexico, Texas, CA, NV etc) could stay! Oh no he says, I meant the ones who came over recently. Oh, so this isn;t America anymore? If your bloodline hasn;t been here for at least 50 years you must leave? *sigh* do people realize what they say when the words come out of their mouths? nikki I live in my own little world. But it's okay...they know me here. , " Peter " <Snowbow@b...> wrote: > Hi Nikki > > > Ya know, I'm getting a heck of a lot of flack from people with the > > pride I have for my country. > > There's nothing wrong with having pride! :-) > > Personally, I think the only major problem with most of the Western world > (including America) is the people who rule it! Guest guest
Killing thousands of people for the sheer hell of it is not " coming back at them " . Although there are big problems with foreign policy (and most preventable deaths on 11/9/1 were not in New York), Al-Quaeda did what they did not to accomplish a foreign policy goal by force majeure, but because they don't like America. And most of the reasons Al-Quaeda don't like America aren't actually very valid. (Unlike the reasons why *I* don't like America, which of course are pure as the driven snow . ). -- Ian McDonald http://www.mcdonald.me.uk/
Guest guest
Good Morning Ian! I agree to some extent, but that does not make it right! And what I can not possibly fathom is their belief system. Ala (completely misspelled, sorry), their god will bring them to glory if they do this so they did it for their god. Yet these same men who took these planes were drinking and looking at nude women the night before which is against their religion! This is something that remains a complete mystery to me! nikki - also pure as the white driven snow HEY! what are you all laughing at? , Ian McDonald <ian@m...> wrote: > Killing thousands of people for the sheer hell of it is not " coming back > at them " . Y'know, there are some intriguing loopholes which could do with getting cleared up as well. For instance - because Washington DC is not in any state, it is technically exempt from the constitution!! Also, did you know that printing paper money is against the constitution - it can only be done in Washington because of the loophole that makes Washington exempt: well, technically, anyway! My favourite, though, is the 16th amendment. For the non-Americans, this is the amendment which basically allowed for the setting up of the IRS, and is the entire basis of the current US taxation system. It is actually unconstitutional as it was only ever ratified by three states!!! Basically, the American taxation system is based on almost mafia-like enforcement of a law which was never passed!!! > Unfortunately, I cannot think of > anyone I would trust to rewrite it either and I can only imagine the > civil wars that would erupt from the attempt. I vote for Fraggle! :-) > I had quite an intense conversation yesterday with a very opinionated > friend of mine. He is truly a wonderful person, but has some ideas > that turn me stomach. I said and > where would you go? I know what you mean - we have the BNP in the UK. Basically, they are a party of fascists who want to " re-patriate " all foreigners. When asked to clarify, it usually turns out that they mean all non-white foreigners. The sad thing is that some people are *still* stupid enough to fall for the usual nazi propaganda. There was an interesting late-night programme on the radio a couple of months ago. According to some research, the population of Europe is declining at quite an alarming rate - this research suggested that without immigrants, Europe would be unable to function properly within 100 years. > He said, What do ya mean? I said which country would you proclaim as > yer own, because to send back all the immigrants means only full- > blooded Native Americans and Mexicans derived from Spain (Mexico, > Texas, CA, NV etc) could stay! Of course, you could go even further, and send all the Native Americans back too - as they originally came from Europe and Asia. But then the entire American continent would be left to two 80 year old sisters who are the only surviving members of the tribes that inhabited America before the NAs arrived. It's really sad to think that an entire race will be dead within our lifetime :-( But I digress!! BB Peter --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Hi Ian > Al-Quaeda did what > they did not to accomplish a foreign policy goal by force majeure, but > because they don't like America. This, of course, assumes that Al Qaeda did anything. It's an unusual terrorist organisation that performs the largest single terrorist act on a continent and then denies any involvement. Normally terrorist organisations are quite proud of their achievements. I found it very interesting watching the news for the month after the attacks. Over the period of the month it went something like this: Day one: Nobody knows who's behind this, and nobody is claiming responsibility. Day three: Here are a few organisations who might have been involved.......(including Al Qaeda)...but we don't know which one. Day five: We've narrowed down the suspects, and we think Osama Bin Laden might be connected - he denies it, and we haven't got any proof. Day ten: We know that there were some passengers on the planes with Arab names, so they must have been the hijackers. This supports the possibility that an organisation connected with Islam might have had something to do with it. Al Qaeda are a possibility. Day twelve: Al Qaeda are known to dislike America, so we think they might be involved. We know that they are Arabs, and we know that Arabs were involved. Day fifteen: Al Qaeda, the prime suspects in the September 11 terrorist attacks..... Day twenty: Some top bod in America has said that he believes that Al Qaeda were behind the attacks. Day twenty-five: Al Qaeda, who were behind the terrorist attacks.... Day thirty: We're going to attack Afghanistan, because we know the Taliban is connected to Al Qaeda who destroyed the twin towers. Fascinating that throughout the whole thing, there has been no evidence presented to the public to support this argument. The only " evidence " is a video of someone with a false beard and a teatowel on his head which the American government claims is Osama Bin Laden. Incidentally, if it is Osama Bin Laden in the video, then he obviously visits the same plastic surgeon as Michael Jackson. I'm not saying that Al Qaeda aren't a nasty bunch of people - just that the belief that they were behind September 11 is based on slightly less evidence than the existence of the Loch Ness Monster.
