Nuts are best kept in the fridge because they have fat in them - bananas

don't do too well in the fridge.

The oil in nuts can go rancid very quickly - don't you have fresh nuts in

America??

Maybe it is - certainly doesn't do any harm to keep it in the fridge -

and olive oil should be kept in a cool dark place anyway.

Olive oil gets hard in the refrigerator and then you have to remember to take it out if you expect it to pour. That is beyond my capabilities. We have a place here which advertises itself as having "memory care." I leave mine there every Monday morning and pick it up on Friday night. They seem to take better care of it than I do.

Hi Jo

> The oil in nuts can go rancid very quickly - don't you have fresh nuts in

I believe you may have hit the nail on the head, so to speak, with regard to

the confusion... I remember from my trip to the US that raw nuts were pretty

rare... I guess those American folk are thinking that I'm keeping roasted &

salted nuts in the fridge... which would be silly :-)

Hi Fraggle

> if you kept yer oil in the fridge, wouldn't it solidify?

Methinks there must be a different usage of the word " fridge " in the US to

the one in the UK... a fridge is normally around 2 to 4 degrees

centigrade... it's a *freezer* that gets really cold.... and I doubt even in

that the oil would solidify... oil only freezes at a *very* cold temperature

:-)
