How does one be strong in detering sex gratification?

List all your activities that don`t relate to sex. Do this for the rest of your life. Only go to bed when you are so so sleepy.:)

vāco vegaḿ manasaḥ krodha-vegaḿ

jihvā-vegam udaropastha-vegam

etān vegān yo viṣaheta dhīraḥ

sarvām apīmāḿ pṛthivīḿ sa śiṣyāt

"A sober person who can tolerate the urge to speak, the mind's demands, the actions of anger and the urges of the tongue, belly and genitals is qualified to make disciples all over the world."

Srila Prabhupada mentions that the only way to control the sex urge is to control the tongue, that means to only eat sattvik food, which is offered to Lord Krishna, or Krishna prasadam. This is because the tongue, belly and genitals are in a line on the body and have very direct connection. Whatever one eats and puts into the belly will cause different reactions in the body, particularly on the libido.

In the same verse's purport he mentions:

"In a similar manner, the urges of the genitals, the sex impulse, can be controlled when not used unnecessarily. The genitals should be used to beget a Kṛṣṇa conscious child, otherwise they should not be used. The Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement encourages marriage not for the satisfaction of the genitals but for the begetting of Kṛṣṇa conscious children. As soon as the children are a little grown up, they are sent to our Gurukula school, where they are trained to become fully Kṛṣṇa conscious devotees. Many such Kṛṣṇa conscious children are required, and one who is capable of bringing forth Kṛṣṇa conscious offspring is allowed to utilize his genitals."

So, just avoid sexual contact, that includes touching,talking or thinking about sex.

The problem ( sex) will only arise when these Krsna conscious kids start to ask questions how they were created when puberty comes. Sexual education from a licensed physician, anyone?

A Krishna conscious child will have been taught that that they were never created but have always existed as eternal parts and parcels of Krishna.

Puberty comes from the body which is external to the self. Such questions can be dealt with in a straight forward way without the need to go to a "licensed physician".

Better for the physican to hear about the true nature of the self from a Krishna conscious child.

But what if these Krsna conscious children at puberty asks you what are their sexual parts for? Or why she`s menstruating? Or why he`s having a wet dream?

This subject (sex) is like a person who`s building a 14 story structure and he wants the architect to exclude the 13th floor because it`s bad luck. But how can one reach the 14th floor if one cant pass through the 13th floor?

The best is for a Krsna conscious child to hear about the subject matter (sex) from a Krsna conscious licensed physician.;)

Well if you think you need a licensed physican to teach a child about reproduction that is your choice. I don't see it. What can't be learned in this matter from just picking up an eighth grade biology book?

Well, if you can draw me the anatomy of the male/female, internal/external, sex/reproductive parts w/o looking at an 8th grade book and identifying each of these structures then you passed this test in human sexuality.;)

And what would be the need to teach that much detail to a child?:rolleyes:

Without it I don`t think Krsna would be able to convince Radha to let Him (naughty boy) draw circles on her ( His girlfriend) breasts(chest).;)

The great acharyas has made it quite clear that living a life of sense control and sexual abstinence requires close association with advanced spiritual practitioners who have experience in sense control and mind control.

Living in a society of devotees dedicated to simple living and spiritual cultivation is most usually a vital component of sense control and abstinence.

The Goswamis have explained that control of the tongue and a yogic diet are required for keeping the sexual impulse subdued.

So, without living in a society of devotees and serving the acharya, controlling the tongue and following a yogic diet, one will most likely live a life of frustrated sexual fantasy unless and until he gives in and pursues the path of sense gratification.

That is why the break-up and the break down of ISKCON has been such a sad loss because it pushed out so many sincere devotees who were unable to follow the high standards that intimate association with devotees and serving the acharya supports.

Bottom line, if you are so concerned and so sincere then you should think about finding a temple and an ashram where you can live in intimate association with more advanced devotees and dedicate yourself wholly and solely to cultivation spiritual advancement.

Kamadeva, personified, has five names according to the Amara-kosha dictionary: kandarpa darpako ‘nanga kamah pancha-sharaih smarah —Cupid has five names;

1) Cupid;

2) Darpaka, ‘he who prevents future events’;

3) Ananga, ‘he who has no physical body’;

4) Kama, ‘lust personified’; and

5) Pancha-sharaih, ‘he who holds five arrows’ “.

Kandarpa: In the tenth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita (BG 10:28.) Lord Sri Krishna says, prajanash casmi kandarpah; “Of causes for procreation, I am Kandarpa”.

The word Kandarpa also means “very beautiful”.

Kandarpa appeared as Lord Krishna’s son Pradyumna in Dwaraka.

Darpaka: This name indicates that Cupid can perceive what is to take place and prevent it from happening.

Specifically, he tries to impede pure spiritual activity by alluring one’s mind and forcibly engaging one in material sense enjoyment.

Ananga: Once, when Cupid disturbed the meditation of Lord Shiva, that powerful deva (demigod) burned him (Cupid) to ashes. Still, Shiva gave Cupid the benediction that he would act in the world even without a physical body - like a ghost.

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com><st1:place w:st=Kama, ‘lust personified’; and

Pancha-sharaih: The five arrows with which Cupid pierces the mind of the living entities are taste, touch, sound, smell, and sight.

These are the five names of the empowered deva Cupid, who enchants all living entities and makes them do whatever he wants.

Without receiving the mercy of Guru and Krishna one cannot resist his power.

Sonic Yogic has elangantly stated it.

...........................................

Also, remember 'virya' is retained to develop mental capacities.

Also, remember: No meats, No oinions, no garlic, no vinegar, no foods cooked by anyone --other than yourself and/or a real brahmana.

Also, remember: life of celebacy requires real full-time vigilence [and sublimation].

A little association with women is too much for a novice's meter guage system --so one must be trained up properly.

It may be argued that it is a selfish philosophy to stay celebate --but sublimating one's obligations via a higher purpose, can overpower the ego-based 'birthright' of enjoying sensual delights.

Yet, performing one's duties ie: marry and procreate is part and parcel of cultivating higher priniciples of Dharma --this allows the aspirant to have his cake and eat it too without blame.

There is a urge to be of service to a beloved --and thus even higher duties may appeared to be neglected --but it is the humane element that must be cultivated in loving relationships.

It's about QUALITY, not about QUANTITY.

Polished animal life is a common denominator --so learn the finer things in life and aspire to be a more refined person with each endeavor.
