  1. sant it is you that is "talking through emotions" and you are trying to project that on me. Try to read carefully what I actually say. I never said who I believed lived or did not. I already said that believing someone lived and believing that they are relevant are two different things. Then you start talking about if someone existed or not. I do not want to debate that with you since someone already has debated that with you.

I do not care if someone who is irrelevant to my beliefs and practices existed or not. Many people existed in ancient times - it does not mean that they attained any kind of realization or that there is any good basis for believing they performed miracles or that any of the other mythology associated with that personality has any factual basis. Forgive me

but I do not know how to be more clearer than I have been.

What i meant was beleiving someone lived.

    Christ is a historical figure.

Whole history dating is based on A.D. and BC.

If there are people who amount to billions and who brleve christ didint live then you can use the figure.

    whats happened to you.

YOu can beleive all the hindu god and goddeses are living but cant beleive that jesus lived. That shows your just talking through emotions and not proof.

  2. Believing someone lived and believing someone is relevant are two different things. Actions speak louder than words and the deities that Hindus think are relevant are the ones they propitiate in fire sacrifices. They often give lip-service to the deities of foreigners because that is the way many Hindus choose to practice gentleness.

Smiley it says 2.1 billion are christions. So?

Im not a christian but still beleive jesus lived. Many hindus also beleive in jesus. Also include the muslims.

I have some doubts about SatyaSaI. Others- I don't know. But, confirm your views about Satya sai, ' cause I went to him Twice, 10years back, but he didn't notice me. I am one in the crowd. few selected persons were granted private interview. That's what causes my doubt. Why satya sai is not accessable to all? why to only aselected few?-Prasad

  4. I assume those excerpts are from the Ramayana. Were there any parts that you liked? What scripture/s do you recommend instead - if any?

Then that resolute Rama on going into forest along with Soumitri hunted a robust-bodied, big Rohi animal, or, Kesari animal, and then he spread sacred grass on ground to place that offering to the deceased soul of that bird. [3-68-32

On drawing up the flesh of that Rohi animal and lumping it to gobbets, that highly observant Rama placed those gobbets on pleasant greenish pasturelands as obsequial offerings in respect of that bird Jataayu. [3-68-33]

    How ignorant and cruel.

  5.

I`m not trying to confuse you. This is not a joke.

Even you imply that what you are saying sounds confusing. You are either completely confused or pretending to be so. Sanatana Dharma has nothing to do with faith systems which developed outside of Bharat Varsh (except in some cases they have borrowed from the Dharma). Sri Adi Shankara, who as a small child left home to singlehandedly revive the Dharma from the morass it had fallen into had to make very clear-cut distinctions in order to wake Indians up as to what was Sanatana Dharma ... and what was not. Discrimination is wisdom.

    from EncyclopediaOfAuthenticHinduism.org:

    Q. What is a myth, and why so many myths of different cultures have similar stories?

    A. We should now understand what a myth is. Myth is the imaginative fiction of the minds of the ancient natives of a country who believed that there were some kind of nature gods who were involved in the creation, maintenance and destruction of the world, and in some way they also influenced the social life of the people... My first baptism into Hindu religion was when I defended Srila Prabhupad`s ISKCON here in my place in 1987 although they knew my religion is Catholicism. There was even those times after being engrossed in reading Srimad Bhagavatam that my co-workers in the hospital questioned why I no longer go to bed with my wife. That stopped when my wife placed all of Srila Prabhupad`s books inside a jute sack and returned them to my childhood friend, Gaurasundara das, who lent me the books. That was how rabid I was in advocating Krsna consciousness in my home town.

Now, I can`t help but defend my religion( Christ consciousness ) from Hindus and non-Hindus who attack Lord Jesus Christ and His teachings. But then again, if I see that Srila Prabhupad`s Krsna Consciousness and his teachings are attacked by Mayavadism, I go an extra mile to defend the former. And when I see that the followers of Dvaita philosophy attack Sankaracarya for advocating Advaita, I defend the latter.

Why is this so? And when somebody attacks Islam a religion whose God is Allah I defend the latter because I felt Allah is no other than the Child God( Bathala ) whom we worship here in my place.( www.sinulog.ph). I`m not trying to confuse you. This is not a joke. In fact, it`s a confession I had to make.

OREGON CITY, Oregon - A 15-month-old girl whose parents belong to a congregation that shuns doctors appeared to be malnourished after her death from pneumonia, a medical examiner testified Tuesday in the manslaughter trial of her parents.

Raylene and Carl Brent Worthington of Oregon City are members of the Followers of Christ Church and are accused of manslaughter and criminal mistreatment in the March 2008 death of their child, Ava, who didn't get a doctor's care.

The state medical examiner said she could easily have been treated with antibiotics for her pneumonia.

The trial opened on Monday, with the lawyers for her parents saying they thought the girl was getting better as they and other members of the church went through faith healing rituals - such as anointing her with oil and the laying on of hands.

After the girl's death, her body was examined by Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner Jeffrey Mayer.

On Tuesday, Mayer said he went to the girl's bedroom and saw a humidifier and fan running and a TV tray containing a red liquid he assumed was wine and olive oil. He said both are commonly used by members of the congregation.

Mayer said the girl appeared to be malnourished, with protruding ribs and weight "not consistent with peer weight." Mayer also testified about a cyst-like growth found on the girl's neck, which prosecutors say was caused by her lymphatic system struggling against the infection.

"I have never seen anything like that in my experience," he said.

Mayer testified that his office had a good relationship with the church, dealing frequently with the members because they do not have attending physicians present when they die. It's up to his office to sign the death certificate, he said.

He said about 200 people, whom he assumed to be church members, had gathered at the home just east of Oregon City when he arrived to examine the body.

Also at the court hearing, Mayer played taped interviews he had with the Worthingtons the night their daughter died. The parents told him the girl had never seen a doctor and not been given any over-the-counter medication.

In the interview, Raylene Worthington said she noticed the swelling on Ava's neck getting substantially larger during her daughter's final days. She also said Ava developed a cough and it worsened.

Carl Brent Worthington said his wife was with their daughter on the bed when Ava died.

"I ran to the bedroom," he said. "They said she had quit breathing."

Asked during the taped interview if he called for help, he said he did not. When asked why, he said: "She was already gone. I anointed her."

  7. I was once acquainted with a sadhaka who had great involvement with that. They consider the Swamiji there subor-

dinate to Shree Maa - although they are apparently husband and wife as he explained it. To know more here is their

group: and of course their website is shreemaa.org as has been mentioned.

re: namakarana I have only read www.himalayanacademy.com/resources/books/hbh in which the Swami argues that the

name change should also be legal - drivers license, passport, everything. I would be interested in other opinions/writings on that.

Since you mentioned you are a devotee of Durga, and there is no temple nearby, please visit this live video feed. They have daily classes, puja and sometimes bhajans:

    http://www.shreemaa.org/broadcasts

It is a nice Kali temple located near San Francisco. The Swamiji there, who is American, is a very nice person.

Is BO related to root vegetables which have strong smell when raw?

I just try each one separately and see how it affects me. Onion doesn't seem to affect me the next day but when trying to chant Sansrkit the next morning after I have consumed garlic I can taste and smell something foul. Therefore I will not purchase it any more unless needed for some medicinal purpose. I haven't tried hing yet so I will see how that one goes.

Do you think giving up on onion and garlic would reverse the effects? That is, if you have extreme body odor, you stop consuming onion/garlic, would that help. What about other spices, like ginger or hing or carrots? Is BO related to root vegetables which have strong smell when raw?

  9. Dairy cows have to be repeatedly impregnated to keep up their milk production. What is to be done with all the male calves which are born as a result of those pregnancies? The answer is that they are kept in tiny veal cages so that they can not move during their entire short and miserable lives - keeping their muscles soft so that the veal is tender. I would love to get some milk from cows that I know are protected ... however to just go to the market and buy some milk - organic or not - is to be complicit in veal production. That is simply a fact. If you have verified knowledge of a milk producer that never supports the veal or beef industry then please let me know and I will support them. I don't think Shree Vishnu wants me to offer Him the milk of tortured cows any more than He wants me to offer Him the veal which is a direct byproduct of that milk production. Cow torture is not cow protection.

    http://www.milksucks.com/dump.asp vealtopsyst.jpg

I don't think there is an inconsistency on the part of Srila Prabhupada, since Mahavisnu Swami suggests that devotees should always offer the products of the cows to Krishna in order to releive their suffering. That is, of course, if it is impossible to obtain milk from well-kept cows.

  10. I have given up garlic because it causes halitosis but I am still interested in scientific evidence of other detriments of garlic. Also what can I use to most closely approximate it without causing bad breath? I have heard someone say that hing will give onion taste but what about garlic taste?

    >> garlic is poison

if poison means eat and die immediately or very soon,

    i believe garlic is not.

however, i believe strongly garlic has its good and also has some bad, so i think it is a medicine herb, not like food grade herbs/food to be taken daily or in large quantity.

Plus garlic is entirely optional to human health and survival.

if i know there is some issues of caution and warning, it would rather avoid such food competely even not on religious ground.

    Health Benefits of Garlic

Beware! It's the Opposite of What you Might Think

    Garlic Desynchronises your Brainwaves

    http://www.relfe.com/health_benefits_of_garlic.html

Ginger was suggested as a substitute for garlic and I will have to see how that tastes - ginger bread in place of garlic bread? One consideration is that garlic can be had in large quantities very cheaply in the spice department of WalMart. Ginger is much more expensive.

I could find no independent corroboration for this claim:

So I funded a study at Stanford and, sure enough, they found that it's a poison.

I did find this through a Google search:

    http://med.stanford.edu/news_releases/2007/february/garlic.html

That study was funded by he National Institutes of Health; there is no

mention of garlic being a poison; "garlic can still be a valuable part of the diet".

One potential reason for the confusion surrounding garlic’s reputed health benefits is that the supplement makers themselves funded many of the previous studies claiming that garlic lowered cholesterol.

I don't think that any of the previous studies funded by the supplement makers themselves reached the conclusion that garlic is poison. Frankly I don't think Dr. Robert C Beck, DSc is credible at all.

    Like Elvis, Michael Jackson Died

    Of Serotonergic Medications

Dr. Ann Blake Tracy - Executive Director

    International Coalition For Drug Awareness

    DrugAwareness.org

As suspected, and now confirmed, Michael Jackson dead at age 50 do to Serotonin Syndrome as a result of 2 serotonergic medications - Zoloft (antidepressant) and Demerol (pain killer).

Lisa Maire Presley has not only lost her father, but now also her Ex-husband, to the same basic combination of drugs: antidepressants and pain killers.

Michael Jackson lost his life due to the organ-stopping effect of Serotonin Syndrome thanks to a drug that should have been removed from the market decades ago - Demerol. A serotonergic medication similar in action to antidepressants, atypical antipsychotics, and other pain killers.

Serotonin constricts smooth muscle tissue. The major organs of the body are composed of smooth muscle tissue. When serotonin levels increase too high the major organs constrict and shut down. Elevated serotonin, which all of these medications produce, causes death via multiple organ failure. This is the same way Daniel Smith, Anna Nicole Smith's young son lost his life due to the combination of four serotonergic medications.

Are Drugs To Blame For Jackson's Death?

The star had been taking prescription painkillers including anti-anxiety drugs Xanax, Zoloft and painkiller Demerol in recent months, sources close to Jackson told Life & Style

Life & Style reports that Michael Jackson was taking a cocktail of up to seven prescription drugs in the months before his death.

The star had been taking prescription painkillers including anti-anxiety drugs Xanax, Zoloft and painkiller Demerol in recent months, sources close to Jackson told Life & Style. The insider close to the star said he took a suspected overdose of drugs on Thursday morning, which caused respiratory and cardiac arrest.

And a Jackson family lawyer told CNN he "feared" the drugs could kill the pop star.

Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman confirmed Jackson may have had trouble with prescription drugs as he prepared for his London show.

"This was something which I feared and something which I warned about," Oxman said on CNN. "I can tell you for sure that this is something I warned about. Where there is smoke there is fire."

Mr Oxman compared Michael to Anna Nicole Smith, allegi ng that Michael had 'enablers' just like her.

CNN details Jackson's long history of medical problems here. At a news conference, brother Jermaine Jackson said doctors and family tried "for an hour" to resuscitate the performer. TMZ's video of the conference is here.

Meanwhile, Hollyscoop reports that doctors visited Jackson "daily." THe site's latest update:

While news of Michael Jackson's death came as a shock to many, inside sources tell Hollyscoop exclusively that the King of Pop "had doctors visiting him daily."

Michael went into cardiac arrest Thursday afternoon and was rushed to UCLA Medical Center around 1pm. His personal physician was with him at the time and accompanied him to the hospital.

At approximately 1:14pm when he arrived at the hospital, doctors and emergency personnel performed CPR and tried to resuscitate him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at 2:26pm.

The cause of his death is still unknown, but an autopsy is scheduled for this coming Friday afternoon. Michael was transferred from UCLA Medical Center to the coroner's office via a Los Angeles Sheriff's helicopter shortly after 6pm.

    The Sun - UK

    6-26-9

As the world continues to try to grasp and make sense of the incredibly shocking death of Michael Jackson, several people close to the family and investigation are hinting that prescription drugs may have played a role in the King of Pop's demise.

TMZ is reporting that a Jackson family members have confirmed that Michael received a shot of Demerol just before Noon on Thursday, and that the dosage was "too much." They say Jackson typically recieved a shot of Demerol daily.

Britain's The Sun, citing sources at the UCLA hospital where Jackson was treated, is reporting that Jackson stopped breathing shortly after a shot of Demerol, a drug similar to morphine. "Shortly after taking the Demerol he started to experience slow shallow breathing. His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped," the Sun source said.

  13. I have no doubt that all the great powers (Russia, China, US) have underground facilities as a contingency in case nuclear war strikes. However, speaking as a person who comes from a Seventh Day Adventist family (my oldest brother is an church elder) I wouldn't consider any Adventist a reliable source of information on conspiracies (and I do believe that conspiracies happen). They constantly talk about, imagine and feed on apocalyptic scenarios and IMO would welcome any of them coming to pass in order to feel validated.

  14. Was the Vedic period before the Pandavas? I believe there was worship of the Shiva Lingam

during the time of the Pandavas but I don't know if that is considered a kind of murti.

There was no worship of Murtis during the Vedic period.

Though it is not essential in the path of Advaita and Yoga, it is definitely essential in Bhakthi.

In Mantra yoga the Mantra becomes the Deity once you have got Mantra Siddhi. But even in Mantra Yoga Bhakthi is dominant. So the need for the Murti.

  15. Actually I have read Paramahansa Yogananda's translation of Bhagavad Gita.

His purports are very interesting - they talk alot about 'Christ Consciousness'.

Bhagavad gita as translated by Paramahansa Yogananda is by far superior to most others. Bhagavad gita is a directory to Self-Realization and Yogananda's work recognises this. Bhaktivedanta Swami's translation is flawed as it assumes the work as a literal story instead of an allegorical one.
