  1. No, no, no! Please dont feel you can't speak simply because you are less then perfect or may make a mistake. My goodness, we all make mistakes and my name is way up there on that list. ha Its one of the 4 human propensities, and its also why we need each others associaiton so very much. Besides, I am not even saying you made a mistake, only because you feel like this. So please, dont beat yourself up. Haribol. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  2. What "interpolation?" I'm not allowed to have an opinion? I was merely explaining my point of view, and said so. For that matter, I could claim your comment, that Prabhuapda makes no such distinction, is an interpolation as well. Especially since I see it as a very clear distinction! In one quote he says a coolie can even be guru, in the other he says he can not. Therefore, how could both be true if he is not speaking of different types of gurus, siksa and diksa? Show me otherwise and I'll change my mind. Anyway, that is my understanding of Srila Prabhuapada's writings and until proven otherwise, I'll stick to it.
  3. Babru, I dont feel you are distain for me or my spiritual life at all. Or I would not bother replying to anything. ha And actually, I know you always mean well. Maybe its just that 'teacher' syndrome. /images/graemlins/smile.gif As that is just how it sounds to me. But no big deal, we've all been there. I taught (only elementary) for a few years, so here we have two teachers trying to teach each other maybe. LOL
  4. I realized I had to sign in cuz I can't edit the mistakes on on my posts, and as well as end up making more posts then necessary since I can't add on, so thanks for tolerating. /images/graemlins/smile.gif With that said....... I had heard that Prabhuapda said even a coolie can be siksa guru. So I looked it up. Tho he does not use the word 'siksa' here, I feel that is what he means, especially after reading the next quote following it. Tho to each, their own. Anyway, thats my opinion on it. ---- "This is guru. Suppose you are family member. So many living entities, you sons, your daughters, your daughter-in-law, or children, you can become their guru. Exactly like this you can sit down in the evening and talk about the Bhagavad-gita, yare dekha tare kaha krsna-upadesa. You haven't got to manufacture something. The instruction is there; you simply repeat and let them hear--you become guru. It is not difficult at all. So that is our preaching. We do not want to become alone guru, but we want to preach in such a way that every, the chief man, or any man, he can become guru in his surroundings. Anyone can do that. Even a coolie, he can also, he has got family, he has got friends, so even though he is illiterate, he can hear the instruction of Krsna, and he can preach the same. This we want. And we invite all respectable gentlemen, leaders, to learn this, it is very simple: man-mana bhava mad-bhakto mad-yaji mam namaskuru, and by executing this order of Krsna, he assures, mam evaisyasi, "You come to Me." Yad gatva na nivartante tad dhama paramam mama. Tyaktva deham punar janma naiti mam eti kaunteya. Very easy thing." BG 7.1, Bombay, India ---- "Prabhupada: That is... Therefore the Vedas says, tad-vijnanartham: "In order to know that transcendental science," sa gurum evabhigacchet, "he must go to a guru. He must approach." A guru means not bogus guru. One who knows expert. But one has to do that. There is no other alternative. That is the injunction of every Vedic sastra. And this order is from the Kathopanisad. Then, on the Bhagavad-gita the same thing is said, tad viddhi pranipatena. Pranipata means surrender. Surrender where? Where to surrender? To a coolie? No, to a superior person, guru. Similarly, Bhagavata says, tasmad gurum prapadyeta jijnasur sreya uttamam: "One who is inquisitive to understand the spiritual science," tasmad, "therefore," gurum prapadyeta, "must surrender to a guru." Just our, this morning prayer is guru, beginning of life, beginning of day's work, first worshiping guru. Samsara-davanala-lidha-loka-tranaya-karunya-ghanaghanatvam, praptasya kalyana-gunarnavasya vande guroh sri-caranaravindam. So in our, this Vedic way of life, to accept guru is essential. Even big, big acarya... Even Krsna, He accepted guru, Sandipani Muni. Lord Caitanya accepted guru, Isvara Puri. They are perfect, but still, the ways They are showing because They are acarya. Krsna is teaching, taking the part of the acarya, so he is also accepting, although the fact is as soon as went to, within a few days He learned everything. That is stated in our Krsna Book. " Room Conversation, January 17, 1971, Allahabad
  5. Good point! /images/graemlins/smile.gif hehe That too. Thanks Govindaram, you said this well.
  6. Thiest, Phew. /images/graemlins/smile.gif And thank you. Not to worry, you are not alone in this tendency, as I think we all want everyone to agree with us. I am no exception. ha Yet we all have to stick together, be kind to one another, and we WILL get thru it. Plus Krishna will help us see what is right and what is our misunderstanding sooner or later, and in His own time. By sharing our realizations kindly, ultimately we will, somehow or other, come full circle. And no one really knows what that is! Or, we all think we're right. We'll find out when we get there. In the meantime, to just keep chanting Hare Krishna! So stick around here for a while. This forum needs you! Matter of fact, you are probably harder on yourself than anyone else is. IMHO, and this is simply opinion as I have no PhD lol, but it appears your desire is to be open minded and to take to a philosophy of harmony, therefore when you preach, you want this goodness for others as well. Your posts indicate your balanced mind, so regardless of what YOU think of it, it comes out fine and your posts are a assest here. When you are ready or into it, of course. Simply to know they are well received. Anyway, glad you are doing better. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  7. Haribol and thank you so much. Unfortuantely, the problem is not with PalTalk, but with my computer. I did not have the proper sound system. Then went into a chat room for advice, and they told me to delete something. Now its all messed up. In their defense, I dont think they were trying to jerk me around. We looked it up on the net and their instructions were actually correct BUT I dont have the CD needed to reinstall the program. Anyway, thanks for trying.
  8. Maybe you are speculating. Maybe you are changing the topic. And maybe Maya doesn't want me to get on there cuz she knows I will defeat anyone who is against SP but pretending they are not. At least I am being up front in that quote (you went out of your way to take from my newsletter site and put here), and I SIGN my name. Its easy to criticize with no name. Anyway, lets not go there and TRY to start a fight. Lets stick with the topic and agree to disagree. After all, I could say you got the flu last week (or anything) for the same reasoning. ha Lets just try to resepct each others beliefs.
  9. This is a diffent topic, I know, but I wanted to say that it looks, on my buddy list, that you have blocked me, so I thought maybe cuz you were under the impression I had blocked you? I didn't. Right now, my PalTalk is completely messed up. It has gone from bad to worse. And in the process of trying to get sound, somene had me delete something (they were not hackers and actually correct, BUT did not understand I do not have the CD to replace the info!), ..... anyhow, now I can't even log onto PalTalk at all to tell u this. So am letting you know here. We have a devotee friend who is very knowledgeble with computers and will have him come fix it but he is often out of town. It appears he may be now. So nothing I can do. I am feeling very frustrated at the moment, so I better go.
  10. Sorry I now realize you all ready gave the name of your chat room. Anyhow, you sure make it sound good! I'm looking forward to the various chats/devotee association there.
  11. Hladini, I downloaded Paltalk and I all ready like it! I found a devotional chat room, but where is yours? Whats it called? I only saw a few with Krishna conscious names, but I dont think I know what to look for.
  12. That does it, I'm convinced. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm going to download Paltalk and (first) remove mIRC from my hard drive. Thanks!
  13. Is paltalk better than mIRC? I have mIRC and can never find any devotee chat rooms, yet I've heard they are on there. Should I take mIRC off my hard drive (which can't hold much) and download paltalk? Is it easy to download like mIRC is? Sorry for all the questions.
  14. Wonderful topic and post. Thank you.
  15. Thanks Avinash, That was an interesting read. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  16. Yes, Lyra is real. I wonder about Satori/Agape. Hey, why not a planet or star that goes back and forth? I mean, the universe does not fit into our limited materail experiences or rules or understanding. Tho yes, I recognize satori as a state of mind, but many people name a star, etc., after a state of mind. And yeah, I know its a movie. Thats what caused me to think about it in the first place. ----- Am I fueling things yet? lol
  17. I'm not replying to answer your specific question, but once I remember devotees carrying around cards, even using roller decks, with the "most important" Gita verses. Later the point was made that ALL Gita verses are important. Unless someone has a quote from Prabhupada I have not seen, which is always possible.
  18. Basically, yes. Tho it won't 'make' Him be with you a little longer, but He may be more willing to - tho thats probalby what you meant. /images/graemlins/smile.gif Anyhow, yes, this is the process. Consistency. Even offereing a mere stick of incense to a favorite pic of Krishna (and Prabhuapda) daily, chanting one round, reading one paragraph of Krishna book, if done regularly will more often bring results than sudden but short lived spiritual activites that are more complex. Oh sure, there is always benefit, but Prabhupada often stressed the importance of regulation.
  19. Thank you Krishnananda das. Folks really need to spend more time reading Prabhupada's book in order to gain knowledge of the seriousness and qualifications required from such a disciple. No offense intended, simply that its highly unlikely that such a diciple would reincarnate as somone involved in the 'dark side' (voodoo), a heavy drug addict acid rocker, enjoyer of much illicit sex, who put his face in the place of Krishna's.
  20. Thank you for sharing this. I've had days like that myself. And they were so blissful that I came to the conclusion I wanted it all the time! Yet am in the material world. So I found, and maybe this will be something you can do - maybe not, but if I worked a morning program into any part of my day, even the evening, that I felt the bliss! And if ya can't do a whole morning program, just to do what you can do, which should be something that can be maintained. Better to do something short daily that can be maintained then a biggie you can only do a week or day. ha Anyway, this worked for me, so thought I'd throw it out there.
  21. I. Introduction K-PAX (planet) was recently discovered circling the binary star system Agape and Satori (also known as K-MON and K-RIL) located in the Lyra constellation. Further studies have shown that there are up to eight planets in the K-PAX system. K-PAX was discovered when astronomers were studying the orbital patterns of Agape and Satori. Currently, planets are discovered by studying stars to see the wobble effect the gravity of the planet causes the parent star. Due to the inherent complexities of a binary star system the wobble produced by K-PAX was not immediately apparent. When astronomers tried to recreate the star's orbits on computers they noticed a very slight wobble. At first, astronomers theorized that Agape/Satori had one massive planet orbiting it at a great distance. After further investigation, they now believe that there are up to eight planets in the system with K-PAX being the largest and the furthest from the center. II. Observation The K-PAX system is an estimated seven thousand light years from Earth located in the constellation Lyra. Lyra can be seen with the naked eye however a highly advanced telescope is needed to see Agape/Satori. Agape is much larger than Satori and is a brilliant red. Satori is a deep blue. The planet K-PAX, can not be seen with an ordinary telescope. As all planets outside our solar system, the light from it's sun overwhelms any light on the planet. Recent advancements to the Hubble telescope, using two separate images of the same star to interfere and cancel out the brightest light allows astronomers to now view images of extra-solar planets. K-PAX is such a large planet (about the size of Neptune) and so far from the bright light of it's suns that astronomers have been able to attain images of it's surface. III. Motion of K-PAX Go here for the rest of editorial: http://www.robcozzens.com/K-Pax/ Would love to hear opinions after reading it. See photo's there too.
  22. Yeah, well, who has pure motivation in most cases? I think as long as we keep the philosophy straight and don't try to cheat ourselves that way, the rest will follow.
  23. Prabhu, my understanding is they simply are to see you are a devotee of Krishna. What you do with that devotion is up to you. They are not to judge. However, don't you think avoiding hell is a worthy motivation to direct us all toward Krishna? Why do you view it as selfish? Just wondering.
  24. It was me who made a statement about George Harrision, and yes, I think it happened by Krisna's arrangement. I also tihnk it's both. Krishna grants freewill and for that matter, we only go back to Godhead if we desire to go back to Godhead. Of course, we are so small and mostly it is Krishna who drags us back, ha, yet we first need to want it. IMHO, a sincere heart is needed (followed by sincere actions such as japa, Deity worship, etc) for us, or George, get to return to Krishna. I do feel with George, he got some unusual mercy in the sense that Prabhupada said to him (rough quote) "You gave a home to Krishna in the material world, so Krishna will give you a home in the spiriutal world." In that and other ways, George had Prabhupada's blessings. Yet it is a mistake to think we don't have them just as much. It was not the first time many on this planet initially heard the Maha Mantra, but the first time many in the West heard the Maha Mantra. Here is my George Harrision and Srila Prabhupada web site that may help explain further: http://www.geocities.com/priitaa/gh_and_sp.htm Hope you like it! /images/graemlins/smile.gif
