  1. If Earth is reformed in each day of Brahma, then perhaps in the previous day of Brahma, there was another planet in roughly the same place where our Earth currently is. To the ancient rishis and munis, this was probably considered the previous manifestation of what we would today commonly recognise as the planet Earth. However, to modern astronomers, they might not recognise such a planet as being 'Earth'. And as I've theorised in another thread of mine, each manvantar period could represent a different configuration of continents on our planet's surface. When Varaha lifted Bhudevi (Mother Earth) out of the primeval waters of dissolution with his mighty tusks, he said to Her: "Many times have I carried you like this" This indicates that the formation of Earth is something that has occurred many times already.
  2. Yes I have. I knew about them and saw them even before I saw them in your album.
  3. I thought Brahma's year has 360 days?
  4. The technological paradigms for each of the yugas are different, 'technology' being at its subtlest during Satya Yugas and being at its grossest during Kali Yugas. I think that all of the major siddhis were fully manifested at birth for human beings living during a Satya Yuga, so for example there was no need for physical metallic rockets/satellites for the purpose of space travel. Just 'lock' onto a specific location in your mind and you are at that specific location instantaneously. So everything that we can accomplish today with our aeroplanes, cellphones, computers etc. could be accomplished and enjoyed during a Satya Yuga through our inherent and NATURAL abilities which were fully manifested at birth during that time but are almost completely latent during this Kali Yuga. Then in Treta Yuga, the knowledge of mantras is abundant. Vimanas move according to mantras, the direction of arrows is controlled by mantras, certain devatas are summoned by certain corresponding mantras etc. So the way that 'technological' advancements occur for human beings living during a Treta Yuga is similar to that of a Satya Yuga, except that things are somewhat less subtle. Then during a Dwapar Yuga, the framework through which technological advancements occur among human beings is through tantric rituals. Knowledge of various tantras is abundant in Dwapar Yugas, but tantra is less subtle than mantra. Then along comes the Kali Yugas and during the Kali Yugas, the basic framework through which our 'technological' advancements are made is through artificial (kritika) means. So I don't think there would strictly HAVE TO be items almost exactly like iPods during previous Kali Yugas (for example), but there would certainly be very similar items during previous Kali Yugas because all knowledge is recycled over and over again. All resources are recycled over and over again. All talent is recycled over and over again. So some inventions which we think is 'unique' to our current time period may not be so unique after all. Check out these hieroglyphics engraved on a ceiling beam suspended high up on a wall in the temple of Abydos in Egypt: Notice that some of the engravings appear to depict 'modern' vehicles such as a helicopter, a tank, a blimp etc. There is nothing new under the sun. What has been, shall be. And what has been done, shall be done. Also, there might be objects today that we probably wouldn't recognise as being very technologically 'advanced' at all. For example, if you found a quartz crystal inside a cave, you might not think that it's a very technologically 'advanced' object at all, yet in a previous Treta Yuga, people might have used that same quartz crystal to holographically store their memories within it.
  5. I'm not sure about ancient computers and cellphones, but this article is about the supposed remnants of a nuclear reactor that's approximately 2 BILLION years old: "The remnants of nuclear reactors nearly two billion years old were found in the 1970s in Africa. These reactors are thought to have occurred naturally. No natural reactors exist today, since the relative density of fissile uranium has now decayed below that needed for a sustainable reaction. Uranium oxide remains are visible as the yellowish rock. Oklo by-products are being used today to study the stability of the fundamental constants over cosmological time-scales and to develop more effective means for disposing of human-manufactured nuclear waste. I-4 Nuclear Reactor from Two Billion Years Ago In 1972, a French company imported some uranium ore from Oklo in the Gabon Republic in Africa. Surprisingly the uranium concentration in the ore was as low as spent uranium fuel from a nuclear reactor. The finding led scientists to believe that the uranium had already been used for energy production. This discovery shocked the world and attracted scientists from many countries to go to Oklo for further investigation. The results showed that the uranium mine was an ancient nuclear reactor. The ancient reactor consisted of five hundred tons of utilized uranium ore in six different areas. Its output power was estimated to be approximately one hundred kilowatts. The reactor was perfectly preserved and its layout was very rational. It is estimated that the reactor had been in operation for around 500,000 years. Furthermore, nuclear wastes produced in this reactor had not spread all over the surrounding areas. Instead, they were confined within the separate sections. From the perspective of modern nuclear technology, this ancient reactor used very advanced techniques. According to geological dating, the Oklo uranium mine was formed about 2 billion years ago. Shortly after formation, the nuclear reactor commenced operation. The research results made scientists seriously consider the possibility of prehistoric civilization. Such a nuclear reactor could be a product of a civilization from long ago, although scientists have proposed completely natural mechanisms by which the chain reactions could have taken place. Human beings have only made use of nuclear power for a couple of decades. This discovery raised the intriguing possibility that a technologically more advanced civilization existed two billion years ago and it had advanced knowledge of nuclear fission. But if this assumption were correct, one would ask why such an advanced civilization did not perpetuate its own existence. Instead, it disappeared for unknown reasons, leaving only ancient relics. How should we view such a discovery? A large unaccounted-for time gap exists between two billion years ago and our present historical human civilization. What could have happened during that time? If we neglect relics of prehistoric civilization, there is no way we can broaden the scope of our present knowledge. We will neither know what caused prehistoric civilizations to degenerate, or how they finally came to disappear. Moreover, we should carefully examine whether our current method of scientific development is following the same disastrous road. This is surely a subject worthy of serious consideration." 6. That would mean that those footprints are from the Carboniferous Period, right? If I remember correctly, the dinosaurs appeared on the scene about 220 million years ago towards the late Triassic Period, so that means that those footprints predate the existence of even the earliest dinosaurs! Humans rode on top of stegosaurs as a form of transport. That's INSANELY badass!
  7. Yes. Surely ALL of the universes aren't reabsorbed into the pores of Maha-Vishnu at EXACTLY the same time? I'm not saying that it isn't possible, because anything is possible for God. But, to me, it seems more reasonable to suggest that some universes re-enter Maha-Vishnu's body before certain other ones do and some universes re-enter His body after certain other ones do. For Maha-Vishnu, the difference could be something like just a mere 5 seconds, but for 'us', the difference could be many millions of years. Time is relative, therefore the flow of Time can (and does) vary for who and/or what is under its influence. Time flows more slowly in higher lokas like Brahmaloka in comparison to this planet Earth.
  8. LoveroftheBhagavata, your calculations are convincing and I do believe the veracity of your statements. Now I'd just like to find out HOW Vedabase could give a figure of 2,300,000,000 years! Vedabase is no longer as reliable as I once thought it was.
  9. Sarva, that is an intriguing theory. But even if Satya Yugas, Treta Yugas and most of the Dwapar Yugas each occurred on this planet at a subtle level of Reality, we must still account for the end of the Dwapar Yugas which occurred over 1 billion years ago! If I have understood the implications of your theory correctly, this would mean that the so-called 'anatomically modern' human species would have still existed on Earth at a gross physical level of Reality towards the end of each Dwapar Yuga (including the end of each Dwapar Yuga that occurred over a billion years ago).
  10. This is the page where I found out that Drutakarma Das/Michael Cremo believes that the current day of Brahma (Sveta Varaha Kalpa) began TWO billion years ago: http://www.mcremo.com/vedic.htm Every other site out of the dozens of sites I've checked out so far over the last couple of hours says either that the current kalpa simply began 2 billion years ago or provides a somewhat more precise figure of 2.3 billion years. Make of this what you want.
  11. Okay, I've just done some calculations of my own. Check this out and, if you can, at least tell me if you think it's accurate or not: The Vaivasvat Manvantar began 306,289,094 years ago from the present day. As you've already stated, most traditional sources place us 5,110 years into this current Kali Yuga. Thus, there are 426,890 Earth years remaining until this Kali Yuga ends and a new Satya Yuga begins. Therefore, this Kali Yuga will come to an end during 428,898 AD. It is also believed that the 8th manvantar will begin when the next Satya Yuga begins. So I subtracted 306,720,000 from 428,898 and got a figure of -306,291,102 (ie. 306,291,102 years before the supposed birth of Christ). Then finally, I added the number '2008' (the year we're currently in according to the Christian calendar) and arrived at my figure of 306,289,094 years that I've already mentioned. 6 manvantars have already elapsed, so 306,720,000 x 6 equals 1,840,320,000 years. And because 7 sandhyas have also come and gone, that means we must add 12,096,000 (1,728,000 x 7 = 12,096,000) years to 1,840,320,000 years. This gives us a figure of 1,852,416,000 years. 453 mahayugas have now been completed (453 x 4,320,000 = 1,956,960,000), but there are 426,890 more years remaining until this 454th mahayuga has finished. So 3,893,110 years out of this 454th mahayuga have already elapsed. 3,893,110 + 1,956,960,000 = 1,960,853,110 years. In this current Vaivasvat Manvantar, 27 mahayugas have already finished which means 116,640,000 years have gone by so far along with the 3,893,110 years of this current 454th mahayuga. 116,640,000 + 3,893,110 = 120,533,110 years. 120,533,110 (the number of years that have gone by in this current Vaivasvat Manvantar) + 1,960,853,110 (the total length of time of each of the mahayugas that've elapsed so far, including the portion of the current 454th mahayuga that has currently elapsed) = 2,081,386,220 years Vedic scholars such as Drutakarma Das and Sadaputa Das have said that the current day of Brahma began just slightly over 2 billion years ago, so the final number I've received in my calculations is certainly in line with such a claim. Yet I DO feel that I've made an error somewhere, but I don't know if I have. Feel free to correct me! It does help! Thanks! EDIT: Yup, I screwed up. I remember now that there are 71 mahayugas in each manvantar, so the 8th manvantar cannot possibly begin as soon as the next Satya Yuga begins. My friend has been telling me false things. Unintentionally, I hope. lol
  12. LoveroftheBhagavata Prabhu, to be honest, I'm not very certain about the mathematical calculations required to determine which moment we're living in during this current day of Brahma. I got my information from this page, which states that the current day of Brahma began 2 billion, 300 million years ago: http://www.veda.harekrsna.cz/encyclopedia/brahma.htm#4 So this would mean that this mahayuga is the 454th mahayuga so far. A close friend of mine has also informed me that we are in the 28th mahayuga of the 7th manvantara in the current day of Brahma. Now, I don't necessarily think you're wrong or anything, it's just that I'm kinda getting mixed messages and it can get quite confusing sometimes.
  13. I thought the current kalpa began 2.3 billion years ago? Yes, I know that cremation is the usual mode of corpse disposal when it comes to Vedic Dharma. That's why I found that quote by Sri Gautama Buddha to be somewhat odd at first, but then I realised that he was probably referring to those who don't follow Vedic Dharma (like you implied), such as mlecchas and asuras. I completely agree with you. Some aspects of Neo-Darwinism are observably true, such as microevolution (ie. variations within specific species) whilst other aspects seem quite doubtful, such as macroevolution (ie. one distinct species gradually becoming another distinct species).
  14. 'Indrajal' in Sanskrit refers to a type of magic trick.
  15. Gautama Buddha was once asked by his disciple Ananda about the antiquity of humankind. In response, he stated that if one were to stab a pin into the ground, there is not a single spot on any of the spaces on the crust of Earth that doesn't contain deteriorated human corpses. In other words, EVERY spot on the surface of our planet was once a human burial ground. If what Buddha said was true, then Earth as well as the existence of humans on it would have certainly been around for a long, long time. <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
  16. I've heard about Sadaputa Das'/Richard L. Thompson's books "Vedic Cosmography & Astronomy" and "Mysteries Of The Sacred Universe", but I've unfortunately never had the pleasure of reading it. But I'd certainly love to order them on the internet and read those books for myself one day. One book I HAVE read (and absolutely LOVED!) is The Hidden History Of The Human Race by Drutakarma Das/Michael A. Cremo and Sadaputa Das/Richard L. Thompson. It's a condensed edition of their classic book Forbidden Archaeology and for me to say that I found it utterly RIVETING is a wild understatement! Man, when I first read that book, I honestly didn't move my eyes away from it for HOURS!
  17. There is a considerable amount of agreement between the geographical descriptions provided in the puranic literature and with the findings of modern science. For example, through science we are taught that the oceans of this planet have a high salt content. The Puranas agree, saying that Jambudvipa is surrounded by an ocean of salty water. But the Puranas also describe other regions on this planet COMPLETELY beyond the reach of our sensory perception. These other regions are called Plaksadvipa, Salmalidvipa, Kushadvipa, Krounchadvipa, Shakadvipa and Pushkaradvipa. They are each surrounded by oceans of sugarcane juice, wine, ghee, curd, milk and sweet water respectively. If our senses were more acute, we would be able to perceive these higher-dimensional regions.
  18. One of the minor periods of destruction is called 'laya' in Sanskrit, but I don't know when the layas (minor terrestrial cataclysms) occur. Is it at the end of a chatur-yuga or a manvantar?
  19. According to the Vedic literature, the first manvantara of Svayambhuva Manu is supposed to have existed approximately 2 BILLION Earth years ago! The implication of this is that human beings supposedly existed on this planet approximately 2 billion years ago. Now, I take a neutral approach on this issue. I neither believe it nor disbelieve it. Does anyone know if the human beings that supposedly existed during the time of Svayambhuva Manu were extradimensional? I know that the puranas describe lands apparently on this Earth that are inaccessible to us, such as Plaksadvipa, Salmalidvipa, Kushadvipa, Krounchadvipa, Shakadvipa and Pushkaradvipa. Humans inhabit each of these lands. I suppose that the main problem I have in believing that anatomically modern humans (much like ourselves) dwelled on Earth, in gross physical bodies, is that there was apparently not as much oxygen back then in our planet's atmosphere as there is now. So how would anatomically modern humans be able to breathe during those times? Very soon afterwards though, the Oxygen Catastrophe occurred which provided more oxygen in our planet's atmosphere and killed off many of the anaerobic organisms supposedly flourishing during that time in the distant past. Thanks for reading this.
  20. Does anyone here think that there's some kind of connection between manvantars and the 'supercontinent cycle' postulated by modern mainstream geologists? Personally, I definitely think that there’s a valid correlation between a manvantar cycle and a supercontinent cycle. First of all, one complete manvantar cycle is 306,720,000 Earth years in duration. The last supercontinent, Pangaea, formed approximately 300 million years ago. Coincidence? I think not! I don’t believe that there’s such a thing as a so-called ‘coincidence’, to me EVERYTHING happens for a reason (whether we can comprehend that ‘reason’ or not!). We live in an utterly purposeful universe. There’s yet another rough similarity between manvantar cycles and supercontinent cycles. The previous supercontinent, Pannotia/Greater Gondwanaland, formed approximately 600 million years ago. I admit that there are a few discrepancies here and there, but these discrepancies are relatively minor. If the mathematical calculations I've just done are correct, then Vaivasvat Manu’s reign over our current 7th manvantar began 306,289,094 years ago from the present day! Once again, this is a duration of time roughly in line with when Pangaea formed according to modern mainstream geologists. However, most geologists also state that beyond the original formation of the supercontinent Pannotia, the time span between supercontinents becomes more irregular. For example, the supercontinent before Pannotia, Rodinia, existed 1.1 billion to 750 million years ago - a mere 150 million years before Pannotia. The supercontinent before this was Columbia: 1.8 to 1.5 billion years ago. And before this was Kenorland: 2.7 to 2.1 billion years ago. Ur existed 3 billion years ago and Vaalbara 3.6 to 2.8 billion years ago. One complete supercontinent cycle is said to take 300 to 500 million years to occur. But nevertheless, it’s NOT known for certain how long a supercontinent cycle is. Perhaps each supercontinent cycle is 306,720,000 years long, the length of a manvantar cycle! Notice that there are names for 7 distinct supercontinents. As I’ve already stated, we are currently living during the 7th manvantar. At the commencement of each manvantar, there could be only ONE giant landmass on Earth (ie. a supercontinent) and as each manvantar moves forward in time, this supercontinent breaks itself into smaller continents scattered over our planet. This process of supercontinents splitting themselves to form smaller continents is known as continental rifting. Since most of our current 7th manvantar has elapsed, it makes SENSE that we have 6 continents on Earth now! Also, geological studies have shown that continental rifting causes substantial inundations by water. Could continental rifting be the cause of the flood Vaivasvat Manu endured in Southern India? Furthermore, the ancient Vedic writings tell us that we currently live in the 7th manvantar which is ruled by Vaivasvat Manu. I think it is fascinating that modern paleontology tells us that there have been 6 major extinction events since the beginning of life on Earth approximately 2 billion years ago. The Vedic texts also state that life began on Earth approximately 2 billion years ago as well (during this particular cycle). Since we are supposedly in the 7th manvantar, this means that 6 manvantars have already elapsed. It is said that a global cataclysm wipes out much of the life on Earth at the end of each manvantar. Then at the start of the next manvantar, the Earth becomes repopulated with life again from the organisms that remain. I think they’re known in Sanskrit as ‘sishtas’ (please correct me if I’m wrong!). So I think that's an incredible 'coincidence' between what modern paleontology tells us and what the ancient Vedic texts are saying. The major difference between what modern paleontology is saying and what the ancient Vedic texts are telling us is that in the ancient Vedic texts, humans (and, by extension, human civilisations) have existed in each of the 6 previous manvantars before each of the 6 major extinction events occurred. According to the Vedic timeline, we are currently living towards the end of the 7th manvantar (as I've already mentioned) but there is a similar statement contained in ancient Hebrew texts. The ancient Hebrew texts have described 'six past Earths' and state that the '7th Earth' is the present Earth. From such statements, it can be inferred that each 'Earth' that is being referred to is related to different supercontinent cycles that our planet periodically undergoes. The break-up of a supercontinent causes increased sea-floor spreading and continental flooding. Truly a deluge global in scale! However, most mainstream scientists in general would not recognise such intense flooding as being the 'great flood' (or at the very least, a 'great flood', merely one out of SEVERAL!) described in virtually ALL cultures on Earth because it would've occurred SO far back in antiquity that it would've been impossible for human life to have existed during those ancient times (in their opinions). Yet in the Puranas, there are descriptions not only of humans living back then, but of human life flourishing. Ancient Zoroastrian texts mention something called a Karshvar. Karshvars are described as concentric circles one above the other. They described the present Karshvar - Hvaniratha - as the seventh one, above all the previous Karshvars. An ocean separated each Karshvar from another. Karshvars are either supercontinents or the supercontinent cycles related to them, I think. The global flooding of the continental regions after the break-up of a supercontinent is the ocean between each of the Karshvars. Sedimentary layers of each supercontinent cycle forms above the previous one. In your opinion, are manvantar cycles and supercontinent cycles directly related?
  21. Seriously though, I have no idea whatsoever. lol
  22. Dude, Kalki's horse won't have wings. It'll use laghima siddhi to hover over the ocean!
  23. Thanks for the kind words!
  24. Is Bhuloka, commonly known as the ‘earthly realm’, referring to this entire physical universe that’s contactable by the five senses of our physical bodies? Does Bhuloka thus include everything observed through our modern telescopes? I’m asking this because I’m currently under the impression that the Vedic conception of the ‘earth’ element (out of the five elements in general) is a metaphor for matter in a solid state (and is therefore not referring simply to this particular planet, which is confusingly also called ‘Earth’).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> Therefore, as far as the 7 talas are concerned, I assume that they’re not all just physical realms which exist below our feet (although I still believe that Earth is definitely hollow and there ARE puranic statements that support this belief of mine). After all, the Vedic literature does supposedly mention 64 dimensions of existence. The 7 talas could be realms that are lower-dimensional and/or higher-dimensional in comparison to Bhuloka. They could exist at different rates of vibration. This could be what’s meant by ‘below Bhuloka’, that the 7 talas are NOT ‘below Bhuloka’ in terms of any kind of ‘surface’, but are ‘below Bhuloka’ in terms of their vibratory rates. Perhaps providing support for this theory is the claim made by South American shamans that, after ingesting certain hallucinogenic/psychoactive substances, they are allegedly able to gain access to an ‘underworld’. Intriguingly, the Sanskrit word ‘tala’ literally means ‘abyss’ or ‘chasm’. What does everyone here think? Is my understanding of Bhuloka and the 7 talas accurate?
