  1. Do you people think that the dinosaurs of the past are really just the reptiles we have today but in a much more massive size (and with a few physical differences, of course)? After all, as we progress from yuga to yuga, the actual size of lifeforms is said to decrease. Regardless of whether this is the case or not, I find the Hindu scale of time to be enthralling and also very intruiging.
  2. Yes, that is definitely correct. And not only do all living things have these three bodies, but we humans access the different planes where these bodies reside during different states of our consciousness. I forgot the actual Sanskrit terms for them, but we access the physical plane during the state of wakefulness (ie. where we are now), we access the astral plane during the state of dreaming and we access the causal plane during the state of deep sleep.
  3. The above post is actually mine, I simply forgot to log in on my account. I just thought I'd clarify that for you all. Sorry! ;
  4. I once remember reading in some Indian book (I forgot the name of it though) that the events of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata as well as the descension of the ten avatars of Vishnu is re-enacted kalpa after kalpa. Whilst I truly believe that anything is possible, I find this idea extremely incredible. Does anyone believe this idea is true?
  5. Hey people, I've been visiting these forums for a few months now but today I've finally decided to join and make a new thread. I'm a proud Hindu and have been all my life. I'd like to think I know at least a bit about my religion, although it is enormously complex and vast (with a simple message of truth at its core). One thing has left me intrigued though. I remember reading a story in the Caitanya-caritamrta about Krishna summoning an unlimited number of Brahmas and Shivas from other universes inside a palace at Dwaraka. Many of these Brahmas and Shivas had thousands of heads, some even had millions of heads. I was wondering why this was the case. Is the number of heads the Brahmas and Shivas have indicative of the size of the particular universes they create and destroy? Like the more heads they have, the larger the universe they exist in is. I thought this might actually be true, because I remember reading a line from that story that said something like our four-headed Brahma feeling like 'a rabbit among many elephants'. I'm sorry if this seems like an amateurish question, but if any of you guys know the answer then let me know. Thanks!
