  1. I remember hearing somewhere that whilst Srila Prabhupada and his disciples were in a plane flying over the Himalayas, Prabhupada pointed out a gold mountain yet none of his disciples were able to see it. This, I feel, relates to the notion of multidimensions interpenetrating the space where the Himalayan mountains exist.
  2. Yeah man, I definitely think that this universe is multidimensional in some way. Apparently, the Vedic literature mentions 64 dimensions of existence. Each one of these dimensions is populated by a vast variety of jivas. However, I've unfortunately never found any such references in the Vedic literature. Admittedly, I haven't looked very thoroughly. Does anyone know where I can find such references?
  3. According to Jahnava Nitai Das (in this article of his: http://www.bvashram.org/articles/97/1/Gods-Demigods-and-Incarnations/), there are 64 dimensions of existence in the Vedic conception of Reality. According to another site I have been on, there are many sub-dimensions of each of these 64 primary dimensions. However, I have NEVER read anything about these '64 dimensions' anywhere except here on the internet. Are there any references someone can point me to in the Vedic literature that mentions these 64 dimensions?
  4. If I remember correctly, Srila Prabhupada himself said in Bhagavad Gita: As It Is that avatars are descending on planets all over our universe at different times to execute certain tasks. I don't currently have that book with me, so some confirmation would be nice.
  5. "Whenever and wherever there is a decaying of righteousness, O Bharata, And a rise of unrighteousness then I manifest Myself!" Bhagavad Gita Chapter IV-7 Whenever = at ANY time Wherever = at ANY place When dharma falls below a certain level, then the Lord incarnates at ANY time and at ANY place. It's that simple, dudes! It really is!
  6. Can someone please tell me what this Sanskrit statement means in English? Thank you! hiraNyagarbhasya dine tu kAzyapI samantato vRddhim upaiti yojanam | punaz ca nAzaM samupaiti vedhaso nizAtyaye kRtrimamRnmayaz ca yaH ||
  7. Yeah, God isn't limited in ANY way WHATSOEVER. Totally agree with you, man!
  8. One of my friends told me a story apparently in Ramayan about an encounter between Lord Hanuman and a rishi. The rishi appeared in Hanuman's way one time and said that he has to pay a toll of coins to pass that way. Lord Hanuman found the rishi's vessel filled up to the brim and inquired as to how the vessel was so full of toll coins. The rishi replied that they were all collected from the Hanumans of different kalpas. I don't know which Ramayan version this story originates from and to be honest, I myself doubt the veracity of this story. But it's mind-boggling to think about nonetheless.
  9. If 36,000 full kalpas (each of 8.64 billion years duration) constitute the lifetime of 'our' Brahma and lifeforms are only manifested in our universe during the 'day' period of our Brahma, then there'd be 18,000 kalpas (each of 4.32 billion years duration) during which lifeforms are manifested in our universe. If the histories of Ramayan & Mahabharat are supposed to recur in every mahayuga and there are 1,000 mahayugas in each 'day' of our Brahma, then does this mean that there are 18 million versions of Ramayan & Mahabharat during our Brahma's lifetime with slight variations in each and every version? I'm not sure if I got my calculations correct, as I'm feeling a bit tired at the moment. Anyway, what does everyone think?
  10. Does anyone here have some sort of an explanation for the carving of what appears to be a stegosaurus on a wall of Cambodia's ancient Angkor Wat temple posted below?
  11. I've always thought that 'Vyalee' is the Indian version of a 'dragon' (seen depicted on temples in South India), whereas Nagas are serpents with a human-like anatomy. Maybe you're right. I don't know. Can someone provide further clarification about this?
  12. The English, the Slavs, the Scandinavians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Indians, the Chinese, the Koreans, the Japanese, the Vietnamese, the Indonesians, the Mesoamericans, the Siberians, the Germans, the French, the Welsh, the Hungarians, the Norwegians, the Poles, the Arabs, the Russians, the Mayans, the Incans, the Brazilians, the Chileans, the Africans, the Persians, the Hebrews, the Mexicans, the Babylonians and the Sumerians ALL happen to be people from ancient (as well as modern) cultures which once believed (and some still believe) in the existence of serpentine/reptilian creatures which were endowed with magical and/or spiritual qualities. The depictions of this creature usually varied only slightly and apparent sightings of them (some supposedly containing MANY eye-witnesses) have been documented by many of these ancient cultures worldwide. To me, it seems FAR more reasonable to believe that the GLOBAL belief in the existence of dragons (by WHATEVER name they were called in the HIGHLY numerous cultures which acknowledged their existence) has at least SOME factual root to it than to believe that EVERYONE in ALL of these many, many ancient civilizations were either a) all liars b) experiencing a hallucination or c) insane (or even all three of those possibilities). I think it's actually quite plausible that so-called 'mythological' creatures (dragons, in this case) in fact once existed - but sadly no more. Dragons may well have been a dinosaur species which somehow survived extinction but unfortunately became extinct (possibly several millennia ago) for any number of possible reasons. Or perhaps they still exist, but in such small numbers and in areas of extremely harsh climates that are generally inaccessible to humans (such as deep under the surface of the Earth). I don't know. But I'd really LOVE to know!
  13. I reckon it'd be HELLA COOL to ride on the back of an archaeopteryx! How AWESOMELY FUN would THAT be? And imagine if humans existed during the time of the dinosaurs and had technology similar to ours during that time in the distant past? Maybe they might've watched a show on their TVs about how to safely hunt for dinosaurs to be able to eat their meat (I'm a vegetarian, I just thought I'd mention that). OMGWTFLOL, HOW INSANELY AWESOME AND TRIPPED OUT WOULD THAT BE?!?!?! AND IT'S POSSIBLE SIMPLY BECAUSE KRSNA (GOD) EXISTS!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Uhh..... sorry. I'm just kinda insane!
  14. That's so true. We've BARELY managed to land a few little crafts on our Moon almost four decades ago now and yet some people speak with certainty about the nature and size of this particular universe!
  15. Yes, that's a delightfully humble approach to have and genuinely made me smile when I read it. I think that Krsna's creation is so grand and so full of His unlimited creativity through His endless diversity that there is no way WHATSOEVER for our inherently limited minds to comprehend it. After all, there has been an infinite number of brahma-kalpas backwards into the past and there will be an infinite number of brahma-kalpas forwards into the future. Y'know, I remember reading in the classic book Autobiography Of A Yogi about how Lord Buddha was once asked why a man should love all persons equally. "Because", the great teacher replied, "in the beginningless and varied lifespans of each man, every other being has at one time or another been dear to him". That statement from Gautama Buddha deeply moved me when I first read it.
  16. Yeah man, I've heard of the Ica stones before. They're awesome. There's a photo of an Ica stone I once saw which had some strange shapes illustrated on its surface. At first, I wondered what these shapes actually meant, but then I read that those shapes apparently depicted very accurately what the continents on Earth looked like approximately 13 million years ago! I'll try to find out where I first saw the photo of that particular Ica stone and then post it here as soon as possible.
  17. I think that humans existed on Earth even before the epoch during which the dinosaurs flourished. But I do not know if humans were on Earth only in higher-dimensional continuums during that distant time in the past. However, I know that in Srimad Bhagavatam 8.10.10-12, 'giant lizards' are mentioned (or something closely along those lines anyway). Does anyone here know if there are any other allusions made in the Vedic literature of a possible co-existence between humans and dinosaurs?
  18. I completely agree with what Koteswara Rao said.
  19. Okay, so no two incarnations are exactly alike though they might be very similar. But are there still certain details in the pastimes of these incarnations that never change regardless of what time it is? For example, is it always Rama (and not Lakshman, for example) who kills Ravana in Ramayan no matter what kalpa it is?
  20. So there are no different incarnations other than Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha and Kalki in each kalpa? Are these incarnations the same even in the lifetimes of other Brahmas in the distant past and distant future of our universe or brahmanda? Are there completely different incarnations in other brahmandas? Or are the answers to these questions unknown? Sorry for asking so many questions, it's just that this is still quite new to me and EXTREMELY fascinating. And yes, I know that Bhagavan Rama is revered even by the Muslims in Indonesia. He is so great that he captures everyone's hearts, no matter who they are!
  21. Okay dudes, this is a topic that absolutely fascinates me. I vividly recall my beloved grandmother, while she was physically alive, basically telling me that history always repeats itself. There have been countless Ramayans during every treta yuga, countless Krishnas (or the same one just incarnating over and over again, perhaps?) bestowing the Bhagavad Gita to countless Arjunas during countless Kurukshetra Wars every dwapar yuga and countless Kalki avatars appearing during the end of every kali yuga and so on. This is basically the gist of what my grandmother once told me. I think this is fascinating and there might be some truth to it. Y'know how there's such a vast variety of versions of Ramayan in our world (particularly in south-east Asia)? Maybe they're all 'true' in their own way. In all honesty, I don't know much about the subject at all but I'd love to learn more about it because it's so fascinating and trippy as hell. So anyway, perhaps the Valmiki Ramayan just records what happened in the most recent treta yuga but not what happened in previous treta yugas? I've read many other versions of Ramayan besides just Valmiki Ramayan and there are so MANY variations in each of them (some of them minor and some quite major, such as a variation in who actually killed Ravana for example). One of the Ramayans states that Hanuman, on his way to Lanka, encountered a mermaid and produced offspring with her. Another Ramayan version states that it was actually Lakshman (not Rama!) who defeated and killed Ravana because Rama was observing a vow of ahimsa. I think this was the Jain version of Ramayan. In any case, there are just so many variations of certain details of Ramayan that I find it difficult to comprehend that NONE of these 'variations' did indeed once occur. Perhaps they did in an extremely distant past which has now become all but forgotten except in the so-called 'myths' of ancient cultures. I'm not just referring only to Ramayan here, my grandmother said that the whole dasavatar of Vishnu as well as the events of Ramayan and Mahabharat are re-enacted kalpa after kalpa. Do you think there is some truth to this notion? Perhaps, even with our supposed free-will, we still ultimately make the same kinds of decisions and forget the same kinds of things and this is why certain events unfold in an extremely similar manner. What do y'all think about this?
  22. Apparently, Sri Viraraghava Acharya has stated (based on revelation) that there was a bahir-mukha brahma two brahma-kalpas (lives of brahma) ago within this universe. Does anyone have more information on this?
