  1. What causes someone to be born as a Demon? Ive just been thinking about this alot lately.. How do they manage to avoid a Hell and become a Demon?? I'm just curious..
  2. Let me tell you first hand to NOT DO LSD. You wont be the same after you take it.. It's really not worth taking.. I took LSD for my first time and ever since that time I was diagnosed Paranoid Schizo.. It was like I never came down from that first trip.. If you really feel the need to try it.. I say research it all that you can.. Otherwise.. stay clear of it.
  3. I had a small mouse running around in my house once.. I left a 3 liter soda bottle on the floor and one day I was able to catch it inside the bottle.. You shouldnt kill the mouse.. Just find a humane trap to catch it in..
  4. I know that in Buddhism some meditaters can achieve a "rainbow body" and enter a sort of heaven. Does Hinduism have something similar? Is there a Hindu Heaven?
  5. I think I asked this before.. but I forgot.. What are the 10 Offenses?
  6. So.. I could be getting this wrong.. but I take it as.. God has just always created unviverses for an eternity.. creating and destroying over and over?
  7. For the longest time I believed in a universe that always existed that was never created. I mean if you can believe that God existed eternaly and uncreated why not the universe as well? Then in philosophy class we were discussing God and I came to find out that my thinking may be flawed. First off I dont even know if Hinduism has a "creation" story. Has both God and creation existed together from begginingless time? Then I thought about the emense size of the universe and realized that if there is no limit to the number of sentient beings in the universe then there will never be a complete "salvation" If its infinite then it will never happen.. So is there a limit to how many sentient beings in the universe?
  8. Who is Ishvara? How does he relate to Krishna?
  9. I made 2 posts last night and both were deleted. I can fully understand why the first one was deleted. But the second one had nothing that could be offensive in it. I was just asking that I need my "private" question answered does anyone know where I can possibly ask my question? If this post gets deleted I demand to know why because that would make no sense. I had spoken with a person at the nearest Isckon which isnt really near at all.. But I havent heard from them in 2 months despite my repetitive eMails.. I dont know what I should do..
  10. How does Karma relate to the Gunas?
  11. Are there instructions about death and dying in Hinduism as it is in Buddhism? Do they have similar views?
  12. If even heaven is temporary then what is liberation? the goal? To the Godhead? What does that mean? Do all appearances end only to burst out into chaos again and repeat the cycle all over again?
  13. I didnt need the link.. I have a copy of the "Bhagavad-gita As it is" I have read it thru.. But I think I need to read it again.
  14. Here I am once again trying to make sense of this book I'm reading. I'm having a hard time understanding the differences of these words. I have found their definitions online but they.. here is what I have: Mahat = Universal cosmic mind Ahamkara = personal ego sense.. sense of I Manas = Sense of self.. mind (the 7th of the 8 consciosnesses in buddhism (which is a sense of "I")) I'm not sure I have these correctly defined so I'm hoping someone can help me make sense of them.
  15. I'm still lost.. are you saying like sattva will be more prevailent in a statue of the Buddha and tamas would be like a unmarked small rock? Raja would be like a television? Or the clouds in the sky?
  16. This is a quote from the book I am reading: "Prakrti is as real and as eternal as purusa; but unlike Spirit, it is dynamic and creative. Though perfectly homogeneous and inert, this primordial substance possesses, so to speak, three 'modes of being,' which permit it to manifest itself in three different ways, which are termed gunas: (1) sattva (modality of luminosity and intelligence); (2) rajas (modality of luminosity and activity); (3) tamas (modality of static inertia and psychic obscurity). However these gunas must not be regarded as different from prakrti, for they are never given seperately; in every physical, biological, or psychomental phenomenon all three gunas exist simultaneously, though in unequal proportions (indeed, it is this inequality that permits the appearance of a 'phenomenon,' of whatever kind; otherwise, the primordial equilibrium and homogeneity by virtue of which the gunas were in perfect equilibrium would persist forever)." This is from a chapter entitled Substance.. I have read this chapter over and over and I've looked online to help me understand what it is talking about.. All info online that I find covers information on the psychomental relations to the gunas. I'm trying to understand them in the Physical and biological sense.. This has left me confused since I cant find any good information on it. Can someone help me?
  17. with small things.. How much more for big things?
  18. I was looking for my lost keys 2 nights ago.. I looked all thru my apartment. Tripled checked everywhere.. After 20 minutes of searching I gave up.. I then thought "Why not ask Krishna?" So I asked him to help me find my keys.. not more than 30 seconds later.. I found my keys!!
  19. This helped me to look at the meditation thing I created and gave me new insight on how to more effectively perform it.. Thanx Krsna
  20. I made it to the Boston ISKCON center and I had a talk with a Monk there.. I told him about my experience of Krishna revealing himself to me. The Monk told me that everything I had said about what Krishna said to me sounds like I had a authentic experience. He is trying to get me set up with a regular ride to the center on Sundays because I just cant handle driving in the city. He even offered to come to my apartment. I've been asking alot about Samskara Shuddhi and this Monk said He'll teach me the practice.. Things are going GREAT.. after talking with him my conviction that this is the true religion has been strengthened.. I'm excited to start to really learn about Krishna.. Just thought I give an update of where I'm at for those who are interested.
  21. I know I have posted pretty much the same question before.. About Samskara Shuddhi.. But I thought maybe rewording the question could help... I have read that Samskara Shuddhi is a practice that can destroy Samskaras.. I have also read that asamprajnata samadhi can destroy Samskaras.. I'm looking for a practice that destroys Samskaras.. I've been seeking and seeking but all I have found is what I have listed. And what I have listed doesnt give me enough information on how to practice them. Any help?
  22. I read in one post that one should chant Hare Krishna with beads 13 times thru.. That would be 1300 chants.. Is that absolutly required.. I think I can get in 200 at the most and that would be pushing it.. Maybe 300 if I do in morning, noon and night.
  23. Kind of Goth... Not heavy though.. I always wear black pants.. Black Trenchcoat.. Shirts vary from Red, Black, White, Blue and Orange and I wear a Bandana to match the shirt color. I use the term "semi" Goth when I describe my outfits.
  24. I have been in an argument with some people about how we dress and what Krishna thinks about it.. I dress a little dark.. Black is my Favorite color.. These people (Who are not affiliated with any Hindu group) claim that the way I dress is disrespectful.. Personally I dont see why Krishna would care how one would dress.. We all live on this home known as earth.. Every culture has a different variation of clothes they may choose to wear. Should I look down upon others simply because they dont wear what "I" may think disrespectful? We all should be able to wear what we want to wear and I feel Krishna feels the same way... AM I correct?
