  1.

I would suggest that you actually put the foods on a separate plate and bring it to an altar with a picture or murti of Sri Krishna and offer it there. If you are not diksita, you may just chant the maha-mantra and with a prayerful spirit ask for the Lord to partake of the meal. Then take his remnants. This is the most beneficial method from the angle of bhakti. You may or may not chant prayers before partaking of the meal -- that is secondary to the importance of directly offering it first.

As is evident by now, there are plenty of diverging traditions. You would then have to qualify the "we" in "mantra which we should chant" -- who are the "we", in which tradition?

    Thank-you.........

  2.

Ah! But, if you go to the iTunes Music Store and search for "asato ma", there should be three results. If you preview the 49 second version by Gopa Bose, you can hear almost the whole mantra.

    Govinda!!!

Can you give me the link to iTunes Music Store?

    Hare Krishna

    Chant and Be Happy:pray:

  3.

Tonight while watching a movie I found myself chanting "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare"

I wasnt even putting any kind of effort it just happened.. I was watching the movie and I noticed I was chanting.. I was like "woe.. Where did that come from?"

I was wondering if this means anything? Is it a sign of something or is it a common thing?

That's what happens, when you become a higher devotee, you start chanting the name of Lord in your every work....when you start doing a work you take the Lord's name and when you finish the work, you again take the name of Lord. You cannot stay without taking his name. Taking his name is so sweet that you get the most peace by taking his name. And when you become a higher devtee, the name comes to your mouth automatically.

    Hare Krishna

    Chant and be happy.........

  4.

Before having food, the following mantras need to be chanted..

    1) OM BHUR BHUVAH SUVAH

    TAT SAVITURVARENYAM

    BHARGO DEVASYA DHIMAHI

    DHIYO YO NAH PRACHODAYAAT

This is called Gaayatri mantra - gaayantam trayate iti gayatri - ie, that which protects it's chanter is gayatri.

    2) take some water in hand, and spill it over the place, enrircling the food in the anticlockwise direction.

while doing so, chant the Gaayatri.

    3) then take small bits of food each and put it in your mouth.

Each time, chant the below mantras.

    OM Pranaaya Swaaha

    OM Apanaaya Swaaha

    OM Vyanaaya Swaaha

    OM Udanaaya Swaaha

    OM Samanaaya Swaaha

    Finally, OM Brahmane Swaaha

    and then Brahmana AAthma Amritathvaaya.

    4) Start taking full morsels of food. While eating food, it is desirable that you keep in mind God and His Vibhutis. (what I do is, ponder over the meaning of the holy names in Vishnu Sahasranaam)

    5) At the end, sip a bit of water, enough to wet your throat, and chant the below mantra.

Amrithaapidhaanamasi. (let this food confer immortality to me)

If you require further clarifications, let me know.

    Sahasraarchi

Is it really necessary to chant so many mantras, or we can just take the name of God. It's really too many,.....:(

can I just take the name of Lord Krishna and thanks him in our language for providing us the food.

    Hare Krishna,.........

  5. Fine, you say me to clean the room. Then the house will be rid of it. But think that they are not killed and so they will increase in great number in the following days. And they can go to other houses and disturb or can come back again to the clean house:rolleyes: And eventually we may see groups of rats on roads too...........then what will we do other that killing them!!!:smash:

You are talking about medicine.....I have searched for it and have found many and most of them are for killing those such as medicine for killing cockroach.

Last of all, think the situation when these animals will not be killed and they will increase in great numbers, then what will happen?

  6. But think of a house full of rats, cockroach, small insects and other harmful animals. These animals are destroying food, papers, clothes and other things. How can a person live there? How can we prevent us from that situation? We cannot kill them and now we cannot beat them and we cannot leave that house.

Please expain about the situation and say how can we prevent us from that situation?

  7. Hare Krishna,

Nowadays we are harmed by small insects like mosquitoes, cockroach, etc. Mosquitoes take our blood and cockroach destroy foods and other things. Small animals like rat also harm us. But do, killing this harmful insects and animals, causes sin. I am confused:confused: they causes harm to us and we cannot help us killing them. So do this causes sin in this Yoga by killing them?

If anyone have the answer please help......

And do any sriptures say anything about it?

    Hare Krishna:pray:

  8. Sri Sri Jagannathai Namo:

Ratha Yatra is celebrated in many places in the world. I live in Bangladesh and it is celebrated here too. It is a great festival and it was celebrated here with high respect.

Dates for Ratha Yatra in Bangladesh:

    June 27 : Ratha Yatra

July 05 : Opposite Ratha Yatra

I live in Dhaka of Bangladesh. Over here the ISKCON celebrated it with high respect. There was three big Raths and among them two was made this year and one was there from before. Sri Jagannathdev, Sri SubadraMata and BalaramaDev were placed on indivitual three Raths. There was a small Rath at the back of all three where all JagannathDev, SubadraDev and BalaramDev were going. It was a great festival. Peoples have crowded to pull the rope of the Rath. Chanting went on through out the crowd. There was also discussions for making flower rain by Helicopter, but the government did not give the permission for it.

Last of all it is a great festival and I celebrated this festival today. I pulled the rope of JagannathDev's Rath and BalaramaDev's Rath and the small Rath. It was a very nice period and I am very happy that I could take place in this Ratha Yatra. And if Sri Krishna bless me, I hope I can also visit the Ratha Yatra in Jagannath Puri.

Please, here discuss about the Ratha Yatra which took place in your country and how did you celebrate it.:deal:

    Thank-you:)

  9. Om Asato maa sad-gamaya;

    tamaso maa jyotir-ga-maya;

    mrtyor-maa amrutam gamaya.

    Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih.

O Lord Lead me from the unreal to the real.

Lead me from the darkness to light.

Lead me from death to immortality.

May there be peace, peace, and perfect peace.

    - a Sanskrit invocation from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishads 1.3.28).

Can I choose this verse as a daily prayer?

  10.

    Is Krsna partial?

Does Krsna NOT want you Back to Godhead?

Are all His promises in the Bhagavad Gita ONLY meant for all others except you?

Are you really the most fallen and incorrigible jiva soul who really can NOT get Lord Caitanya's mercy of love of Krsna?:crying2:

Has Krsna run out of Bonafide Gurus to save you from material life?:eek2:

Are your anarthas so much stronger than Krsna's causeless mercy in the form of the chanting of the Holy Names?:smash:

    Krishna is never partial......

Krishna wants us go back to Godhead....but he wants to see how much do we love him. We are giving a test to him. He is testing us. And if we succeed in this test, we can go back to Godhead.

No, his promises in Bhagabad Gita are not false. But first of all we should obey his rules which he wants us to follow.

As we are in this material world, maya surrounds us. Pure Bhakti for Lord Krishna do not rise from us. It is depressed by the maya. But as soon as we can get control of this maya, we can get the mercy of Lord Krishna.

So, We should always chant his name, especially the maha-mantra which Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu taught us to chant.

    Chant and be happy:pray:

Let Lord Krishna help us to love him, to chant his name, to get the glory of him:pray:

    Hare Krishna.........

  11. Hare Krishna

For getting the glory of Krishna, we ourself should obey the rules which he wants us to follow. And in this Kali Yoga, chanting his name is the only way to get the glory of Lord Krishna. We should become a pure devotee.

If we become a pure devotee of him, Krishna won't be able to throw us out rather then pulling us to him. Then we would get the glory of him and it will be him who will come to us.

So, we should always chant his name,

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

    Chant and be happy:pray:

    Shuvo
