  1. Blind faith to you but not many millions. Puerile is what you are becuase you have not understood what it meant. Open you mind and inner vision only than you will realize the truth not just brush aside which shows your arogance and ego. As long as as you have both of this you are another lost soul.
  2. In the Beginning We are all IMMORTAL SPIRIT BEINGS who have lived out THOUSANDS of other physical lives here on earth before this one. Each time we die, we return to the spirit world and have a conference with wise counselors who review our life's history and help us decide on the best plan for our future and continued SPIRITUAL GROWTH. for our NEXT physical lifetime. After a period of rest, study (oh yes, you're as busy and occupied on the Other Side as you are on this one), and self examination, we return to the earth plane by entering the body of a carefully chosen newborn baby, just as we had done on so many occasions in the past. The memory of our past lives is erased from our CONSCIOUS mind when we begin a new life in order to allow us the complete freedom of making truly unbiased (and uncoerced) SPIRITUAL DECISIONS on a day to day basis. Eventually we figure out what's going on, live better lives, and earn the right to incarnate on other worlds where "the living is easier" and not nearly as contentious as earth life. As we progress upwards (spiritually speaking), we find ourselves experiencing higher (and lighter) frequency realms. Earth life is merely the first (and lowest) rung of a very long ladder of spiritual evolution. Earth life can be wonderful and full of joy and pleasure (and some pain) if we play our cards right, but it can also be a very trying and difficult existence if we don't understand the Rules of Reality and decide to sleep with those who wish to be destructive and forment negativity or unkindness towards others. That's a super short condensation of The Big Story and I've left out a lot, but we will return to it as time allows. The Smaller Story is as follows: Reality We are much more than what we appear to be. We base our perception of ourselves on what we see in the mirror. This physical perception is reinforced by society, our schools, and even our religions. We are alone, we think, fending off the wolves who would devour us and clinging to those who offer us support and loving care. Lord Jesus, Mother Mary, Lord Krishna, Lord Buddha, Mohammed, Zoarastra, etc. are thought of as Prophets or Saviours of Mankind who exist somewhere out there. When we pray to Them, we hope they can hear us out there and will come to our rescue when we need Them to save us from some dire situation. God is typically viewed as a Father figure, often depicted as a very muscular looking old man with a long white beard who is sitting on a throne in Heaven. Many religions reinforce this view of separation. Little, insignificant Us and big, powerful Them. Of course, many religions also teach us that their annointed representatives are necessary middlemen required to represent our interests before God, sort of like metaphysical lawyers. And you know how beneficial and necessary lawyers are, don't you? I'm being a little facetious, but I'm trying to get across the point that a fundamental misdirection has been taught by many organized religions that was never taught by the Founder of that religion. This misdirection did not come about by accident. It was intentional. It is the work of men who sought to gather power and privledge to themselves using the pretext of being earthly representatives of God. The purpose was to create a hierarchy of controlling elites at the top and the "'followers" down below who were expected to pay the bills. A similar hierarchy evolved in the secular world with the idea of kingship/royalty and their "subjects" who again, were expected to pay (in some manner) for the privledge of being ruled and controlled. The true teachings of Christ and many other great spiritual teachers of antiquity were twisted and distorted by these elites desiring to create a paradigm of control and obedience to them. This is not what Christ taught or wanted. Jesus said that "The Kingdom of God is Within". And so it is. What did He mean? He meant that God exists within us at all times. We are part of God. We are not separated from God. We don't have to go looking for Him, we already have Him within every molecule and atom of our being. In fact, none of us are truly separate from each other. It only appears that way. It's an illusion, although it's hard to accept that from our limited perspective. We are all part of God and God pervades everything. He is All That Is. Now once you start to realize that, doors begin to open. You no longer feel so alone and fearful. You aren't battling the Dark Forces of the universe by yourself you now realize, but rather you have a great deal of help and support at your disposal. You are a part of God and God is a part of you.. You are an integral part of a greater Reality. A Divine Nature dwells within you since you are born of the Father and the Father is Divinity itself. Therefore, you have friends in very high places. The ancient Hindu scriptures wrote of these truths eons ago. If you study the writings of yoga masters, you will come across the concept of Athman (Atman), or the Godhead figure within. The Soul and Atman are not exactly the same, but the Atman exist within the Soul. The Soul still retains the outer mantle of sense perception and carries the karmic baggage of previous lives. The Atman is completely detached and free of all sense desires or aversons. It is possible to perceive and experience the Atman while in this physical life. When you do, you are free. You can experience total bliss that will exceed anything your imagination can conjure. You will never view the world and its turmoils and triumphs in the same way, ever again. Support Team You have a team of Angels and Spirit Guides who have been 'assigned' to assit you during your earthly journey. Sometimes your Guides are changed or rotated depending on what sort of help you need at any given moment in your life. Guides are always beings who have experienced physical life many, many times and are very knowledgeable in the ways of the world. Your Angels, who have never experienced the physical plane, stay with you for the duration. These helpers always work in the background, but their assistance can become much more abundant and obvious if you attempt to communicate with them and seek their help. One of the things that you'll never hear about from conventional religious instructions is that there are certain spiritual Universal Laws in place that are in operation at all times throughtout the universe. These Laws are inviolate and apply to all sentient beings whether you exist on the physical plane or in higher, non physical dimensions. They apply whether you come from Earth, Siruius B, Mars, Nibiru, Venus, or any other planet in this galaxy or any other galaxy. They apply in all the higher dimensional planes as well. There are Three major Univeral Laws and many other sub universal laws under the umbrella of the three main ones. One of those Universal Laws is the Law of Non Interference or Free Will. Simply stated, this law requires that Free Will rules above all else when it comes to receiving assistance from higher spirit beings. If you don't want their help or do not ask for it, it cannot be 'pushed' on you. They must respect your Will. In an emergency, of course, due to ignorance on your part, your Angels will help get you out of a jam that might imperil your life or help avert a disaster, but as a rule they stand by ready to assist, but can only help you when you ask for their help. An extremely important point to remember. You've already been given this lesson by the Great Teacher who walked the Earth 2,000 years ago:" Knock and the Door shall be Opened unto you. Seek and you shall Find". The Law of Cause & Effect is also iron clad and causes us to acquire Karmic debt or Karma, at least in the lower dimensional planes. Once a soul 'graduates' to a high enough plane or spiritual dimension, he is no longer liable to incur Karmic debt. Karma, as you likely know, is reaping what you sow. For every unkind gesture, thought, action, or intention, you must pay the piper in this life or in future lives to come or both. The nastier you are, the more you'll have to pay. For every act of kindness, charity, or sacrifice, and every thought, word, deed or intention that you perform based on love and understanding, you pay down your Karmic debt and advance in soul development at the same time. Freedom from Karma can be achieved while still on earth and within the phsysical body. Many enlightened souls hae done so down through the centuries. You can do it too, if you want it bad enough. The key for opening that golden door is obtained through enlightened mediation and complete self realization. Paramahansa Yogananda and his predecessors taught a scientific form of enlightened meditation called Kriya Yoga that could permit the didicated and devoted practioner union with God, or samadhi and complete self relization while on earth. The Law of Cause & Effect can also cause things to be created, including good health and freedom from adversity. I came upon an audio tape of Dr. Robert Bitzer in a most serrendipidous way at the Power of Thought School in Fayettesville, Arkansas in the Fall of 1998. It was sitting there alone in a bin with other odd lot items for clearance sale. I think I paid 50 cents for it. I wouldn't have taken it if the price wasn't so low since I had no idea who Robert Bitzer was or if he had anything to say that I would be interested in. It turned out to be the most powerful lecture that I've ever heard on the Law of Cause & Effect. I must have replayed it a hundred times. I can practically recite it from heart. I greatly treasure that tape and thank Spirit for allowing me to come upon it in the way that I did. Of course, now I know it was a set up all along. That's the way they do it in the Spirit World. You think it's dumb luck and blind chance. Nahhhhh,.... it's them giving you a lift to get up to speed and get closer to God (whew, we are so thick down here). The Higher Self Another topic that is never discussed in traditional religious education is the concept of the Higher Self. You think there is just you, the face you see in the mirror, and that you are alone in the world. You assume that the ego, the part of you that tenaciously clings to life, that jockeys for position and power, that propels you to seek physical gratification, that tempts you to dominate others, and causes you to respond to life's tribulations with anxiety and fear is the very core of your being, but it is not so. There is much more to you than you might imagine. The face you see in the mirror is but one aspect, in physical form, of your soul, but your soul is yet part of a larger concept called the Oversoul. The Higher Self is the 'director', in a manner of speaking, of the Oversoul and is directly connected to the Universal Cosmic Mind which in turn is connected to the core of all creation, God. All knowledge, all truths, and all possibilities exists within the Universal Cosmic Mind. If you can gain access to this "Above Top Secret" cosmic computer room, you can find out anything you want and manipulate reality to satisfy your wishes.
  3. WHAT IS GOD? What is God? It is hard to tell. But, when I look at the Ganga, I know it is God. When I see the jessamine, I know it is God. When I behold the blue sky, I know it is God. When I hear the chirping of birds, I know it is God. When I taste honey, I know it is God. The Supreme is indefinable, though scholars give intellectual accounts of It which are not absolutely true. Every man has his own conception of God. The God of a military man wears a helmet. The God of a China-man has a flat nose and a pipe for smoking opium. The God of a Hindu has marks on his forehead, and wears a rosary and a garland of flowers. The God of a Christian wears a Cross. For some, God has wings. A buffalo will think that God is a very big buffalo. Such an anthropomorphic conception of God is obviously puerile. The greatest and most important thing in all the world is to get a right concept of God, because your belief about God governs your entire life. IS THERE A GOD? God is beyond human imagination, but he is a living reality. Brahman is no metaphysical abstraction. It is the fullest and the most real being. The existence of God cannot be proved by scientific experimentation. The Absolute baffles the mind of even the greatest scholar. It eludes the grasp of even the mightiest intellect. It is experienced as pure consciousness, where intellect dies, scholarship perishes, and the entire being itself is completely lost in It. All is lost, and all is found. You want laboratory proofs? Very fine, indeed! You wish to limit the illimitable, all-pervading God in your test-tube, blow-pipe, and chemicals. God is the source for your chemicals. He is the substratum for your atoms, electrons, and molecules. Without Him, no atom or electron will move, He is the inner ruler. It is God who lends power to our senses, perception to our mind, discernment to our intellect, strength to our limbs. It is through His will that we live and die. But man vainly imagines that he is the actor and the enjoyer. Man is a mere nothing before the almighty, governing Power that directs the movement in the universe. God's will expresses itself everywhere as law. The law of gravitation, cohesion, relativity, cause and effect, the laws of electricity, chemistry, physics, all the psychic laws, are expressions of God's will. As we explain everything within nature by the law of cause and effect, so also, nature as a whole must be explained. It must have some cause. This cause must be different from the effect. It must be some supernatural entity, i.e., God. Nature is not a mere chance collection of events, a mere jumble of accidents, but an orderly affair. The planets move regularly in their orbits; seeds grow into trees regularly; the seasons succeed each other in order. Now, nature is Jada, insentient. It cannot order itself. It requires the existence of an intelligent being-God-who is responsible for it. Even Einstein, the scientist, was strongly convinced of the creation of the universe by a Supreme Intelligence. Though you do not see the stars in the daytime, yet they do exist. Though you cannot see the sun during a cloudy day, yet it does exist. Even so, though you cannot see God with these physical eyes, yet He does exist. If you get the divine eye or the eye of intuition by the practice of meditation, you will behold Him. God is self-proved. He does not want any proof, because He is the basis for the act or process of proving. WHERE IS GOD? Where is God? There is nowhere where He is not. Just as one thread penetrates all the flowers in a garland, so also, one Self penetrates all these living beings. He is hidden in all beings and forms, like oil in seed, butter in milk, mind in brain, Prana in the body, foetus in the womb, sun behind the clouds, fire in wood, vapour in the atmosphere, salt in water, scent in flowers, sound in the gramophone records, gold in quartz, microbes in blood. God dwells in all beings as life and consciousness. God is in the roar of a lion, the song of a bird, and the cry of a babe. Feel His presence everywhere. See God in the wings, of a butterfly, in the letters Alpha and Omega, in the cough of a patient, in the murmur of a brook, in the sound of a bell. Behold the wonder of the Lord's face in every object of this world. Every breath that flows in the nose, every beat that throbs in the heart, every artery that pulsates in the body, every thought that arises in the mind, speaks to you that God is near. Every flower that wafts fragrance, every fruit that attracts you, every gentle breeze that blows, every river that smoothly flows, speaks of God and His mercy. The vast ocean with its powerful waves, the mighty Himalayas with its glaciers, the bright sun and stars in the wide sky, the lofty tree with its branches, the cool springs in the hills and dales, tell you of His omnipotence. The music of the sweet singers, the lectures of the Powerful orators, the poems of the reputed poets, the inventions of the able scientists, the operations of the dexterous surgeons, the utterances of the holy saints, the thoughts of the Bhagavad Gita, the revelations of the Upanishads, speak of God and His wisdom. Everything is God. Good is God. Misfortune is God. Greet Him in everything and rest peacefully in bliss. God pervades the entire universe. He walks in the garb of a beggar. He moans in pain in the guise of the sick. He wanders in the forest clad in rags. Open your eyes. See Him in all. Serve all. Love all. Feel the Divine Presence everywhere-in every form, in every thought, in every feeling and in every sentiment, in every movement, in every emotion. God, seen through the senses, is matter. God, seen through the intellect, is mind. God, seen through the spirit, is Atman or the Self. Thou art indwelt by the Lord. He is the inner ruler, Antaryamin, guarding and controlling your life. He is in you and you are in Him. He is quite close to you. He is not very far, but is nearer to you than you are to yourself. You were thinking in the beginning that He could be found only in Mount Kailas, Ramesvaram, Mecca, Jerusalem, sky or heaven. You had very vague ideas. This body is His moving temple. The sanctum sanctorum is the chamber of your own heart. Close your eyes. Withdraw your Indriyas from the sensual objects. Search Him in thy heart with one-pointed mind, devotion, and pure love. You will surely find Him. He is waiting there with outstretched arms to embrace you. If you cannot find Him there, you cannot find Him anywhere else. HOW TO REALISE GOD? God is a question of supply and demand. If you really yearn for His Darshan, He will reveal Himself to you in an instant. You need neither art nor science, neither study nor erudition for God-realisation, but faith, purity, and devotion. Combine all the love you cherish towards all worldly objects-wife, son, wealth, property, relatives, friends-and then apply this combined love towards God. You will realise in this very second. To serve God and Mammon at the same time is impossible. You cannot enjoy the bliss of the Self and the sensual pleasure in one and the same cup. You cannot have light and darkness at the same time. The Lord demands your whole heart. Reduce yourself into zero before God. Only then will God completely take care of and guide you. Only then surrender becomes complete. Forget your own interests, your own longings, your own desires. You will attain the bliss of the Supreme Self. Crucify, sacrifice the lower self, if you wish to have union with God. Empty your egoism. You will be filled with God. Lose your personality. You will find the Divine Life. You will realise God.
  4. Jaya, may be even this explanation will not satisfy your ego. 1. Your are not offering any angle to explore, no logic explanation, and when one has some different idea you are not able to answer. So please show your angles Ans: My angle of argument has been given in my following post but it is you who don not seem to understand the real meaning of it. 2. That it is not to say that arjuna is god or we are god... bhagavad gita says that the real self is found surrendering (sarva dharma..) to krsna, not finding that we are krsna Ans: Krishna is only one of the names to describe God so what is your point here? Sarwa Dharma is equal value to all religions but what has that got to do when I say Arjuna is God too? As God dwells in all atman should you not consider all to be God? Just as you believe would you spit at Krishna’s Statue or his picture? If you can give such respect to a clay idol why is it so difficult to accept yourself as God when he resides in your atman? 3. Yes, because god has a body, image, form, svarupa.. and we have it also. Ans: Yes, we have it too but whose is it? This body is not yours but a loan to you until you finish your karma here. In the end you will joined him permanently. Can you at leat understand this? 4. This is asymbolism to teach to help the more unfortunate, if you take the gospel as a whole you will not find anything that suggest that we and god are the same person... nothing Ans: You have to read and understand the contents. No scripture will openly tell you the secret behind it. “God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and GOD IN HIM." John 14:23 5. This is your speculation, offensive speculation that shows that you have no arguments different from offence.. if one loves god, who's the father loves also the brothers, the danger is when one believe that everyone is god and think: "why i have to help a brother, hes god, he does not need my help" Ans: If your idea is this than you have many cycle of birth coz you have not realized the real truth. No amount of explanation would satisfy your ego. Failing to realize that God is omnipresent and omnipotent and dwells in all living entity. 6. If it is so easy to understand why you cannot give some more logical explanation but you are only able to feel your self superior, insult and complain? Ans; Mine is neither complain nor self-superior. I am a humble being explaining what I feel but if that is offence to you than I am not to be blamed. You too can explain why you believe your approach is correct and I will try to understand it. 7. You may be right, but you are keeping the explanations for yourself... god does not forget, he is ever conscious of his identity, so if i do not remember to be god, i am not god. This is a very simple thing, try to answer... it is not very high philosophy. Ans: Do you believe God dwells in you atman? If you answer is no than the devil is in control of your senses. Need I say more? 8. The scriptures are very easy to read and learn, you that are superior and beyond the scriptures are not able to explain the logic of anything you are saying. And why you are sometimes using scriptures, like bible, like gita to demonstrate (ah, ah, ah!!) your views? if they are for ignorants why you use them? Ans: If the scriptures are easy to learn than why so many interpretations by many scholars? Than why did Adhi Shankara, Saint Ramakrishna Pramamsa, Saint Ramalinga Adhikal and many others appeared? 9. So shut up, go away and come back when we will be ready, what's the use to speak with us if we are not at your higher level? and why are you in the desperate need to communicate your speculations if you (god) are satisfacted and complete in your self? why you need our approval? why are you in the need of communicating your ideas? Ans: I am not wrong when I say your senses are now controlled by the devil coz asking someone to shut up shoes his ego and superiority complex. Be humble if you want to increase your spiritual knowledge. 10. Say this mantra, this is the name of madhava, krsna who killed the demon madhu... Ans: Yes, but saying alone will not suffice because there is more to that. Uttering 1008 names alone will not help you to reach his abode. 11. Iif one's god, he does not need any ritual or procedure to increase his godness or consciousness to be god.. god's eternal and conscious. These ceriomonies are meant to offer service to god and to make spiritual advancement to revive our spiritual condition as servant of god. WE have to remember, because we are little and maya can easily conquer us, god is not subjected to maya, blindness, illusion, forgetfullness, maya is is energy, subordinate to him Ans: Sorry, I rest my case here. 12. God does not need, because being omnipotent he does not need anything from others... you need to be praised and prayed, so you are not detached, you are under illusion, pride and you are not god Ans: I am not in the formless God but HE is in me and you but in you he has not been invoked because as long as you have ego only the other side will appear which is the devil. answer point to point with logic and scriptures (if you believe in them.. otherwise logic is enough) ... if you can do it, otherwise you are not god, god is able to answer to any Question. Ans: I have tried to explain from your mental ability and if that is not enough look forward for my next posting. Sarvesham Svasti Bhavatu Sarvesham Santir Bhavatu Sarvesham Purnam Bhavatu Sarvesham Manglam Bhavatu May auspiciousness be unto all; May Peace be unto all; May fullness be unto all: May prosperity be unto all; Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah Sarve Santu Niramayah Sarve Bhadrani Pasyantu Ma Kaschid-Duhkha-Bhag-Bhavet May all be happy; May all be free from disabilities May all behold what is auspicious: May none suffer from sorrow: Asato Ma Sadgamaya Tamaso Ma Jyotir-Gamaya Mrityor-Ma Amritam Gumaya Lead me from the unreal to the Real Lead me from darkness to Light Lead me from mortality to Immortality
  5. It is your task to search and understand since you deny they are from the Gita. Gita has been interpreted by many so go find the real source and you will know what I am saying. I have found God but you are still searching so keep on searching till you find him.
  6. Thank you and our whishes are same to you. May there be peace and prosperity to all in this world.
  7. Maadhav, Being sarcastic will not help you in acheiving wisdom. You have to explore all angles. I'm not saying your belief and concept is wrong but at the same time you have to investigate other thoughts too. If you believe I am wrong than what is stated in the Gita is wrong too coz in the Gita Krisha advised Arjuna to search his conscience for the real self. In the Bible it says "MAN IS MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD" and Jesus said "when I was sick you visited me, when I was hungry you fed me and when I was naked you clothed me". But his followers asked him when did they do all this to him and Jesus replied " when you do this to your fellow men you have done to me". Do you know what he meant? I am sure you have the wisdom to understand what he meant. You can call all the names of Krishan and pray 24 hours a day uttering his name but if you do not serve your fellow men he will not even turned towards you. That is because you have not invoked your atman where he resides and that is why I say we are all gods. See how difficult for you to understand a simple contex. If you had really understood what I meant in my post you would not be sarcastic towards me. People read the bible, the vedas and Koran but they fail to comprehend the real essence of these scriptures and that is why they have all the misinterpretations and squables over who is right and who is wrong. If you try to tell a simpleton that he is God, he would not understand but when you tell him a story that Gods is so and so whose wife is Radhe and he killed the demons and so on than he would listen carefully and understand that God is a Supreior Being and he lives up in heaven. Scriptures were written in order to make people of lower intellect to understand that there is a being called God and he should be appeased by certain rites and rituals. But those who are above level need not learn such coz they know where is God and what are his qualites. May be it is still too early for you. But don't worry over the years you will come to terms with him. And please do not sarcasticly say "om namo bhagavate barniyaya". Say it whole heartily and end it with "namo namha" coz when you say such you are saying it to HIM. Like I would say "OM Namo Bhagavate Maadhavaya Namo Namaha". and it will increase your spritual energy to generate your atman. When you go to the temple you will see the Gurukal or priest resiting slokas and mantras to the diety in the form of archna but the real fact is abishegam and archna that he does on behalf of you goes towards the spritual atman of the gurukal. That is why every individual has to do his own ritual and archna in order to energize his atman so as to reach the higher level. To say in brief we are all Gods and need to be praised and pampered.
  8. Journey to the Inner God By Andrew Rooke It is necessary to live the life to understand the doctrine: a simple statement, but a task that has engaged the minds and hearts of the greatest thinkers and heroes of humanity! What do we mean by the inner god, the personal ego, the higher and lower self, and how do they relate to ordinary living? The inner god is the most enlightened part of us, active when we exercise the finest human qualities: tolerance, love, understanding, and compassion. Buddhists call it the living Buddha within; Hindus, Isvara or the Brahma in his Brahmapura or Brahma-city -- the cosmic spirit in the human being; Christians, the I AM or the Immanent Christ. G. de Purucker says of it: Mystics of all the ages have united in teaching this fact of the existence and ever-present power of an individual inner god in each human being, as the first principle or primordial energy governing the progress of man out of material life into the spiritual. . . . The inner god in man, man's own inner, essential divinity, is the root of him, whence flow forth in inspiring streams into the psychological apparatus of his constitution all the inspirations of genius, all the urgings to betterment. -- Occult Glossary, pp. 66-7 This inner god is the "eternal soul" that reincarnates again and again, an inexhaustible fount of life, intelligence, and consciousness. In a previous universal cycle it gained experience in every form of life then available, becoming in the process a "god." That universe died, and when it manifested again this essence issued forth as an unselfconscious "god-spark" in a higher stage of life. This crowning achievement of the preceding evolutionary cycle is the inner god. It is relatively perfect compared to the various "vehicles" through which it is learning in the present universal cycle. Just as lesser beings provide the means for it to learn, the inner god provides the means for them to develop and grow towards it. It is a dual learning process towards a higher state of knowing.* *See "Seeking the Self" by Armin Zebrowski, Sunrise, Aug/Sep 2001, p. 193, for a diagram illustrating the various components of the human constitution. The lower self is associated with opposite qualities, such as self-seeking, narrow-mindedness, a limited view of one's responsibility to others, competition, separateness, and selfish ambition. It is the Dragon of the legend of St. George, the Minotaur of the myth of Theseus in the Labyrinth, Darth Vader of Star Wars, and "The Nothing" of The Never Ending Story. While most of us, thankfully, are not completely absorbed in this aspect of ourselves, unfortunately neither are we able to retain the inspiration of the higher self for long periods. We are riding a roller coaster of consciousness between the two extremes, often seeming to have little control over which aspect of our nature is dominant at any time. Great religious and mystical teachers have pointed out that it is our responsibility as human beings to overcome the temptations and limitations of the lower self and merge our consciousness with the higher self. Through countless minor victories we allow the spirit within to emerge from where it has been quietly waiting through the ages. We must strip away the impediments to the light of the higher self, which always burns bright within but too often shines dimly without. Plato described this process as "unforgetting" our way back to the inner fountain of knowledge and wisdom. Many cultures compare this process to polishing a mirror. Mohammed said that there is "for everything a means of polishing it and freeing it from rust. One thing alone polishes the heart, namely the remembrance of God." Another beautiful expression of the process of revealing the inner god comes from Chinese Buddhism, where a Ch'an Master says: Just as it is in the nature of a mirror to shine, so all beings at their origin possess spiritual illumination. When, however, passions obscure the mirror, it becomes covered over, as with dust. When false thoughts, under the direction of the master [the inner god], are overcome and destroyed, they cease to proclaim themselves. Then is the intellect illumined, in accordance with its nature, and nothing remains unknown. It is like the polishing of a mirror . . . -- Tsung mi Christian mystic Meister Eckhart spoke in the same terms: "The soul contemplates itself in the mirror of Divinity. God himself is the mirror, which he conceals from whom he will, and uncovers to whom he will . . . The more the soul is able to transcend all words, the more it approaches the mirror. In this mirror union occurs as pure undivided likeness." How can we, inhabitants of the technological world of the 21st century, begin polishing the mirror of consciousness so that our light can blaze forth upon the world? Having the spiritual will power to reach up to the inner god is of paramount importance, and no person or god outside us can do this for us. It is not suitable for the inner god to reach down to the level of the lower self, but for our everyday consciousness to constantly reach upwards. As Katherine Tingley often said, "The gods await." But if the inner god is so powerful, why is this task so difficult? The divinity within is like the sun, gloriously shining and all powerful in its own realms. But on earth its rays do not select this or that plant to shine upon. If we transfer a plant where sunbeams cannot reach, the sun will not follow it. So it is with the higher self: unless we gravitate towards it, the personal ego will have the upper hand. The ancient Egyptians pictured growth towards the inner god as the adventures of the soul in the afterlife. One of these stories, "The Two Paths of Liberation," tells of a soul reaching a fork in the road: while both paths lead to the abode of the gods, each involves different experiences. One, passing over land and water, is that of Osiris, who represents cyclic nature, and this path involves many incarnations. The other leads through fire in a direct and shortened passage along the Road of Horus, who in many texts symbolizes the divine spark in our heart.* Many cultures speak of a pathway to heightened spiritual understanding through communion with the inner god, though such a path is usually for spiritual "warriors," the very brave at heart. Those successful along the Road of Horus became initiates of the Mysteries and were called "Sons of the Sun." This path of initiation offers the successful candidate divine union at a more rapid rate.** *Further information is available in The Ancient Egyptian Book of the Two Ways, trans. Leonard H. Lesko, 1972; see also "Light from Ancient Egypt," I. M. Oderberg, Sunrise, April/May 1985, for more information on the Road of Horus. **The Mystery Schools by Grace F. Knoche describes this path to the inner god pursued by the very few. What of the majority of mankind? For the rest of us, who travel the Road of Osiris, the way is slower, progressing certainly but more gradually through the daily challenges of many lifetimes. The ultimate achievement is the same: to radiate the highest qualities of the spiritual element locked within the aspiring soul. What are some of the practical means for those traveling the Path of Osiris? Let's look at a few time-honored methods taught throughout history: Purification: The journey to the inner self usually commences with efforts at self-purification, which may include physical techniques, such as various forms of yoga, abstinence from recreational drugs, and eating foods which will do the least harm to our fellow creatures. If we don't take care, however, these efforts may become yet another type of self-indulgence. Over time, interest may progress from the physical arena through emotional and psychic realms to spiritual development. At some stage the soul will begin to be aware of a vague glow of the inner spiritual light. In some sensitive people this experience may shake them to the core, and there is often real suffering of heart and mind. We make great vows to ourselves: "Now that I have glimpsed this light I will do my very best to change my ways and lead a more spiritual life." But everything in and around us seems to conspire against our best intentions as nature immediately presents us with tests to prove our resolve. Karma normally spread over many lifetimes may come to us over a very short time. We should remember, however, that along with opposition, our vow invokes forces which help us. As William Q. Judge remarks: The appeal to the Higher Self, honestly and earnestly made, opens up a channel by which flow in all the gracious influences from higher planes. New strength rewards each new effort; new courage comes with each step forward. . . . So take courage . . . and hold on your way through the discouragements that beset your earliest steps on the path . . . Do not stop to mourn over your faults; recognize them and seek to learn from each its lesson. Do not become vain of your success. So shall you gradually attain self-knowledge, and self-knowledge shall develop self-mastery. -- Echoes of the Orient 3:288-9 Exercising the spiritual will: Looking for and working with the inner god of every person we encounter, and not becoming weighed down with a limited self-centered viewpoint, allows the inner god to guide us in daily living. Katherine Tingley felt we should induce our will to flow with "that nobler part of our nature that rises to every situation and meets it with patience and courage . . . The knowledge of it comes not in any world-startling or magical way -- and is not to be purchased save by surrender of a man's passionate and lustful nature to the god within." This represents the core message of all world religions -- "Love thy neighbor as thyself." To realize how difficult this is, try not harming any person or being in thought or deed for even one hour today! Following the daily karmic script: We are composite beings, a vortex of forces from the greater sea of life in which we are immersed. This fact explains many of the moral dilemmas and strange quirks of human behavior we all encounter. The inner god, the enduring part of us, animates the lower forms and energies and sends us forth periodically on a voyage of understanding which we call a lifetime. As we experience life's challenges, the higher self never provides a greater load of karmic lessons than we have the capacity to bear. The joys and hardships we encounter on the Road of Osiris are orchestrated by the higher self to lead us toward perception of reality. Life is our teacher, and our experience provides the exact set of circumstances which we need to grow. We can picture life unrolling day by day as a "karmic script," for those with the eyes to see it. How can we learn to follow the signals our higher self is constantly sending us? There are many ways. Various forms of concentration and meditation accustom us to hearken to the voice of our inner god. Particularly beneficial are greeting the opportunities the day has to offer in the morning and reviewing the spiritual lessons one has learned in the evening. There is also need for silence, a precious commodity in today's hectic world, in which to hear the whisperings of the Voice of the Silence. Even if we are busy with the tasks at hand, we always have the opportunity to devote part of our mental energies to finding spiritual directions from the many choices which face us. Further, in the words of James A. Long, we need to "make the esoteric exoteric and the exoteric esoteric"; that is, take seriously philosophical and religious teachings and apply them directly to living. The ability to read the daily karmic script will enable us to better appreciate the inner purpose of our lives that our higher self is trying to communicate to us each second as it urges our footsteps along the path to greater understanding of the oneness of Being. Nothing is stopping us here and now from trying to live a life closer to the internal example of perfection within us. I know of no better outline of the principal practical and philosophic paths to the inner god than the Bhagavad-Gita. Arjuna or everyman stands between the opposing armies of the higher and lower self reluctant to engage in the inevitable struggle for control of our consciousness. Krishna, his charioteer, advises him on the various paths by which identity with the higher self can be achieved, including good works, spiritual knowledge, asceticism, self-restraint, spiritual discernment, discrimination between godlike and demoniacal natures, the three kinds of faiths, and others. Krishna stresses that all such paths are valid ways to the higher self, and to the extent that people sincerely apply themselves to the search, they shall be repaid spiritually. The important thing is to follow our duty without thought of results. The result will follow in the fullness of time if we do the best we can. As Krishna says: "Seek this wisdom by doing service, by strong search, by questions, and by humility . . ." But do we need to enter into a battle with the lower self in order to identify with the inner god? The Bhagavad-Gita and many mystical writers seem to answer yes, stressing the need for absolute conquest of the lower self if we are to approach the temple of the god within. Yet this "battle" might be more along the lines of the transmutation process pictured by the alchemists of medieval Europe. They spoke of finding the Philosopher's Stone which would allow us to transmute the lead of the lower self into the gold of the higher self. According to Purucker, the best way to overcome the lower nature is not by "battling" it and "fighting" it, thus exercising it and making it strong and vigorous, but by understanding it to be a part of yourself and by resolutely putting it in its proper place with inflexible and impersonal kindness and gentleness. Sometimes and very often indeed the best way to begin to do this is by completely ignoring it, turning the back upon it. . . . ally yourself with the higher parts of your nature, and in consequence you identify yourself thereby with the higher parts of the Universe. -- Dialogues 3:19, 21 Most importantly, on our journey of self-discovery we should pause to ask why we commenced this pilgrimage in the first place. Is this a cosmic vacation designed for our own gratification, or do we mean to offer the fruits of our discoveries to other travelers? In her Voice of the Silence H. P. Blavatsky enjoins us to be ever mindful to avoid the ranks of the spiritually selfish who seek the power and blissful peace of communion with the inner god for themselves alone. Although many schools teach spiritual development for one's own sake, ignoring the suffering of others, the path of compassion was blazed by Great Ones who, though far ahead of us, stopped to offer assistance to all those in their wake. It is also our responsibility to travel the still small path to the higher self mindful of our responsibilities to others. We can offer the lessons we learn, when appropriate, to our fellows and help uplift the crushing weight of suffering bearing down on humanity, largely caused by humanity's ignorance of the laws of life. If we consistently make this effort, our spiritual light will gradually glimmer, then shine in the world for the benefit of others, and we will begin to understand the essence of theosophy. 9. Krishna continued, "I want to tell you one other thing, the blind father of these evil cousins of yours had 100 sons, yet in the end there was not even one of them left to perform his funeral rites. What is the reason for this? All these sons were the children of God, but the blind king considered them as his. Arjuna, you are also becoming a brother to him. You are deluding yourself with the idea that this body is yours when it really is not yours, at all. By thinking that you are the body, you are developing the same blind outlook. That is complete ignorance. Unless you drive away this ignorance, you will not be able to realize wisdom. You have to develop discrimination and self-inquiry in order for wisdom to enter into you. "Within your body is the spiritual heart, and within that heart is God. Also in your body is the individual soul. These two, God and the individual, appearing to live separately inside the body, are playing together, acting out their parts in a grand drama. They come together and go apart again, as directed by the author who has written this play. He assigns all the separate roles of good and bad, virtue and sin. But, in truth, there is only the one divinity that plays all these parts. "From the standpoint of the body, there is the individualized soul manifested as this particular person of body and mind, and there is God who is the indweller of the heart. As long as you have the delusion of the body, these two, God and the soul remain separate entities enjoying their play with each other. As soon as the delusion disappears, they merge into the one all-pervasive divine principle. When you remove the false delusion of body consciousness, you bring about the union of the individual and God. Then you are established in divine consciousness and enjoy eternal bliss." Teaching in this way, Krishna was able to impart to Arjuna the knowledge for becoming a wise being and the means for reaching the bliss of non-duality. He said, "Arjuna, always have the sense that everything which exists is one and the same entity. Do not allow the senses to pull you away from this feeling of unity and equanimity. Let your heart be free from sorrow and elation, attachment and hatred. Be unaffected by censure or praise. Treat all people equally." Krishna told Arjuna, "When you firmly believe that everything in this creation is the manifestation of divinity, then you will become steeped in wisdom and freed from illusion. Then you will have realized the true purpose for which you have been born as a human being. Arjuna! Carry out my commands! See me everywhere! Know me to be your very self, the atma! Realize the atma and be forever free!"
  10. Radiant Divinities! Blessed sadhaks and seekers! Spiritual aspirants aspiring to follow the spiritual life, aspiring to progress upon the spiritual path, aspiring to attain success in your spiritual sadhana and aspiring to achieve the great, glorious, spiritual goal of divine perfection and liberation! To all of you I recommend the awareness of the spiritual presence of Gurudev. During the day everything is illumined by the sun. When the sun sets the darkness may be illumined by the moon. If there is no moon the darkness will still be illumined by the stars in the sky. And if it is a cloudy night in the middle of the rainy season, and even the light of the stars are denied to us, then it is fire that illumines—like that akhanda dipam (oil lamp burning silently there behind the glass door. The current may be cut off, that lamp may go out, and we may be in dense darkness—you cannot see your hand in front of your face—yet, you know that you are there. By what light is your presence known? You are aware of yourself and the presence of people and things around you, even though they are not visible. What is it that knows their invisible presence? That is the Light of Consciousness. And that Light of Consciousness is the presence of God within. Silently that Light is observing everything that is going on here. It not only observes our physical bodies, but what is going on in our hearts and minds. It also knows what we do not know. It knows what is lying in our subconscious minds, to which even our conscious active minds have no access (except only occasionally during dream). And it is this silent Light of Consciousness that observes all the three states of waking, dream and deep sleep. For the individual consciousness as well as the universal consciousness, the innermost self-essence is consciousness, awareness, knowledge that I am. Philosophy uses the same identical term for both—atma-tattva. The universal consciousness they call paramatma or visvatma and the individual they call jivatma. Atma is the same to both because it means self-awareness. And this self-awareness is both in the aspect of the universal source of all being and the source of your own present limited, separatist self-consciousness. It is the source of both, and the relationship between the two is of the utmost importance. Eko devah sarvabhuteshu gudhah sarvavyapi sarvabhutantaratma, karmadhyakshah sarvabhutadhivasah (God, Who is one only, is hidden in all beings. He pervades all and He is the inner soul of all beings. He presides over all actions and He dwells in all beings). Three times the indwelling presence of God has been brought out in this single verse—sarvabhuteshu gudhah (hidden in all beings), sarvabhutantaratma (inner self of all beings), sarvabhutadhivasah (immanent in all beings). Sarvavyapi (all-pervading) only once, but the indwelling presence thrice within a single verse. Here also: saman sarveshu bhuteshu tishthantam paramesvaram (the Supreme Lord is equally present in all beings). Again, twice that I am within all creatures: ahamatma gudakesa sarvabhutasayasthitah, aham adischa madhyam cha bhutanam anta eva cha (I am the Self, O Arjuna, seated in the hearts of all beings; I am the beginning, the middle and also the end of all beings). This is something very, very important. Sarvabhutahridayastha (present in the heart of all beings) has been raised to that supreme height because of this fact—He indwells all creatures. Vasanat vasudevasya vasitam bhuvanatrayam, sarvabhutanivaso’si vasudeva namo’stu te—Thou indwellest all beings, O Lord. Therefore I bow to you in all. And Gurudev said: “Let us behold Thee in all these names and forms. Let us serve Thee in all these names and forms.” He did not say in all these men. Rather, he said in all these names and forms, whatever the name might be, whatever the form might be—not necessarily a human name and form, but whatever living beings God has created. These are all powerful inducements to the three cardinal virtues that lead to liberation: ahimsa, satyam and brahmacharya (non-injury, truth and purity). If you are aware of the indwelling presence of God in all creatures, ahimsa is inevitable. If you are aware that He dwells within you, and He is satyasvarupa (essence of truth), asatya (untruth) to you is impossible and satya becomes imperative. If you are aware that He is within all creatures and within yourself, then our relationships have to be of the same quality as the indwelling presence in both us and in others—that is divine. And God is supreme purity—nitya suddha, amala, vimala, niranjana. Therefore man’s relationship to all fellow beings will also become pervaded by a supreme divine quality of purity. And samyama (self-control) and brahmacharya will become automatically realised if man keeps himself in the awareness of the presence of the silent Light of God within himself and all creatures. Therefore, the relationship of each being to that indwelling Light of God is of the very essence. If that relationship is always borne in mind and kept in our heart, then our relationship with all other things automatically becomes right, proper, ideal and as it ought to be. Even the good that we do we will do because the Spirit of God indwells all creatures. To be aware of this and therefore not to harm or do anything bad to any creature is a very essential part of our sadhana and spiritual life; otherwise, you will be offending God Whom you are trying to realise. If you are hostile towards nature, you are hostile to God, because God is immanent in nature and indwells all. And to be hostile and thus relate yourself destructively to any creature would be to destroy the sensitive ecological balance that has been created by the Master Mind, the Great Intelligence, which is no other than God Himself. Everything will be upset if any species of creature is harmed beyond limit. Our relationship with the environment, nature, with all creatures, with all other fellow human beings and ultimately our relationship with ourselves will become perfect if the relationship of ourselves and all beings to that indwelling Light of God is ever borne in mind. Thus you see the four-fold relationship of awareness of man: awareness of the immanence of God in nature, awareness of the presence of God in all creatures, awareness of the presence of the Light of God in all fellow human beings and awareness of the ideal way to relate oneself to oneself—make oneself an instrument of God, make oneself a channel for the manifestation and expression of God’s divinity and God’s purity. This becomes sahaja (natural) to one who lives in the awareness of God’s indwelling presence in the form of the inner Light of lights beyond all darkness, which is in all hearts. And to be in awareness of this is to set right immediately your relationship to yourself. You can never stoop to harbour anything that is undivine or unspiritual either in your feelings or sentiments, nor in the thoughts of your mind or intellectual process. Thus it is that immanence is key to divinity. Awareness of God’s presence within and without, in all beings, in all creatures, in all nature becomes the key, the secret of living in the awareness of the Yoga of the eleventh chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga of the first verse of the Isopanishad. What more can I say? Be aware, be aware of God, aware of your relationship to Him, and make your life sublime and divine and attain the supreme, grand goal of all spiritual aspiration, of all spiritual life, of all spiritual sadhana, of all spiritual living, the grand goal of God-consciousness and divine perfection and liberation. May God help you in your sincere endeavour to attain this supreme state here and now in this very body, in this very life! This is my prayer at the feet of Gurudev’s presence, at the Feet of God Who is within and without. Gurudev’s grace and God’s grace be upon you always and give you sure victory in this great quest! 11. God in Human Form is not limited to the Avatars God is everywhere. He is all-knowing, he is all-pervasive, he is all-powerful. He is not limited to the body. His power is not limited to the karma performed through bodies. The divinity is not just a particular body called Rama, born in a particular age, or another body called Krishna, born in another age. Those incarnations served as exemplary models for mankind to follow. But, the principle of divinity is not limited to any given body. The divinity is omnipresent and omniscient. Again and again this truth has been taught to mankind. Krishna spoke of this to Arjuna. He said, "Arjuna, in remote antiquity, in many ages gone by, I have taught this Gita to the sun god. Then others in a long lineage of sacred beings came to know of the Gita when the sun god passed it on to the many great sages of those times. But thereafter, slowly and gradually, this knowledge became hidden and was finally lost. But it is this same ancient, sacred knowledge that I am now teaching to you here today." When Arjuna heard this, a number of doubts entered his mind. He began thinking, "The sun god is a very ancient entity. Krishna was born only recently in this present age. How could Krishna have taught the sun god who is so ancient?" As soon as Arjuna had these thoughts, Krishna, who knows all minds and all hearts, spoke up immediately. He said, "Well, Arjuna, I know your doubts." With a smile on his lips, he continued, "You see, Arjuna, I am not this particular body. I am the one who has no birth. I transcend all time and space. I am not limited by circumstance. I exist in all ages, in all times. Basing your conception of me on my body, you are thinking that I belong to this particular age. But all these ages and all these eons are within me. Do not try to limit me to this body and to a given time. Bodies change but I never change. I take on different bodies, at different times, in order to perform karma and to fulfill a particular mission." The moment Arjuna heard this, spiritual understanding dawned within him and he recognized the timeless, unchanging principle of divinity.
  12. I have been bombarded by some of you but that does not deter me from throwing light on this issue of “we are Gods”. Have any of you heard of Astral Projection? A condition in which there is separation between the physical and enteric body. Astral projection often occurs during sleep. Some have learned to consciously do astral projection and there are instances where information has been brought back and then verified. A cord connects the physical body to the enteric or astral body. This cord is often referred to as the “Silver Cord.” In Mahabarath Arjuna requested the help of his istadeva who is Krisha and his desire transformed into astral projection of his athman into Krishna whom he believed in as his istadeva. But to explain such to ordinary human being would not be an easy task and so he related the whole eposide as in Mahabaratha. It may sound strange but that is how I see it. We do not have any historical facts to back up the Mahabarata and so it is stamped as mythological story. A hindu way of life is riddled with mysteries such as rituals of consecrations and other duties in order to appease the Creator. But all these are not done out of ignorance but according to sastras. What the priest or gurukal fail to do is explain the purpose of such rituals. The secret of this act is to appease our selves so that our atman or the dweller would be pleased and physiologically that would generate positive energy to give positive result. Now this is what we call occult science on positive thinking. It is all there in our scriptures but for reasons only known to the guardians of the Vedas it was kept as secret documents. May be they felt they are the intelligent people well versed in Sanskrit and that translating such documents would result in lost of their livelihood. We possess the Chakras also known as energy centers or spiritual centers. According to Hindu and occult concepts these are centers of psychic power situated in the subtle body that penetrates the physical body. There are said to be six main chakras that ascend from the base of the spine. Various authorities actually differ on the number of chakras, some citing seven. Much like the aura, some psychics and mediums say that they can see these centers, which are a mixture of color of varying brightness. The various centers usually are described red at the base; orange at the spleen; yellow at the solar plexus; green at the heart; blue at the throat; Indigo at the brow; and violet at the crown chakra. Some authorities differ on these colors. Certain spiritual healers say that they work on the chakras to stimulate a healing of the physical body. When this chakra is energized one can do wonders. Does any one know why only man has such qualities and not any other species in the planet? That is because man is God the creator we all are searching for, but he had not discovered the real self and so he indulges in petty things in life. In Spiritualism, the Prime Creator, First Cause, God, whatever you think of when you think of the force that started reality in the first place, is known as Infinite Intelligence. Yes, it is correct to say that Infinite Intelligence is God. Spiritualists do believe in God. But there are a few important differences in the way Spiritualists understand God. Infinite Intelligence is not a father figure that offers rewards and punishment to his children. Infinite Intelligence influences our world and our lives through the Principles of Natural Law. Natural Law, spiritual energy and purpose are thought to emanate from Infinite Intelligence. The more a person can learn to live in accordance with Natural Law the more that person will find life to be agreeable--or at least understandable. Put another way, living in a way that violates Natural Law is certain to create difficulties in a person's life. Living in accordance with Natural Law is not a matter of doing "good" or "bad." Yes, living in a way that is consistent with Natural Law would seem to have good results for a person, but this goodness would be in the same context as the goodness one derives from not violating a traffic law, and thereby, not being given a traffic ticket. Spiritualists seek to understand Natural Law as a way of life. Spiritual Maturity can be defined as the understanding of Natural Law and living in accordance with those Principles. A spiritually mature person can be defined as a person who has learned to live in accordance with Natural Law, rather than in conflict with it. Spiritualist will say that understanding and living in accordance with Natural Law is an equivalent with the idea of "obeying the will of God." May be it would be difficult for some of you to swallow the real truth but as I have said earlier do not look for God elsewhere, coz he is in you and in me but due to our ignorance and misguided teachings we have been take for a tour. Yes, it is knowledgeable to learn from all angles and understand its concept but eventually if you are gifted you will realize the real truth behind all this phenomena. I know it would be difficult for most of us to practice or bring out the energy of Infinite Intelligence in us as this would take many years of vigorous exercises and meditation but ultimately we would arrive there after numerous re-birth because that is the karma of our action. Please do not take me wrong by thinking that I am here to introduce a new religion. It is nothing new as it has been there for thousand of years. Our elders had introduced it in a different format that is all. No one is stopping you from praying to Krishna, Vishnu, Rama, Shiva, Sakthi, Ganesha or Murugan. They are all in one deep inside you and you can bring any of them out when you have achieved the level of controlling the five senses and energized the chakra. Barney.
  13. The image of Ganapati and His mantra Aum constantly remind us of the reality of the great identity. Man truly is the image of the cosmos. All realization lies within himself. Through the study of his inner impulses and of his inner structure, he can understand the nature of the universe. Lord Vighneshvara assures the freedom from fear. He instills the knowledge necessary to remove the fear inherent in time and duration. What power lies hidden in the mystic Aum, the sound symbol of Ganapati, and which is uttered at the beginning of every rite! Its meaning is expressed in Aum Tat Sat and represents the fundamental identity of the macrocosm and the microcosm. The swastika forms the graphic symbol of Ganapati. It is represented by a cross, being the development of the multiple from the basic unity, the central point; but each of its branches is bent so that it does not aim at the center. This is intended to show that man cannot reach the basic unity directly through the outward forms of the universe. YMNS OF THE VEDAS EXTOL GANAPATI, THE LORD of the Ganas, attendants of Siva. The most famous verse to Ganapati is from the great hymn Sri Rudram found in the Yajur Veda Samhita (and Rig Veda 2.23.1). Gananam tva ganapating havamahe [traditionally chanted ganapati gm] kavinkavinam upamashravastamam, jyeshtharajam brahmanam brahmanaspata a nah shrinvan nutibhih sida sadanam The Deity who is hailed as the chief of the celestial hosts (Ganapati) here is called Brahmanaspati. However, the descriptive epithets applied to Him are apposite as well to the elephant-faced God as Kavinkavinam, the Seer of seers, Ganapati being the God of wisdom par excellence, and Jyeshtharajam, the Vinayaka commanding precedence over others. Also, in the Ganesha Pancharatna by Shri Shri Shri Adi Sankara is found the line: kaladharavatamsakam, "He who dons the crescent," which attribute is also applied to Siva. The Vedas assign Him a special place amongst the Gods. He was propitiated to bestow success and enjoyment and to avert obstacles and calamities. Various prayers to Ganesha are recorded in the Vedic texts. He is invoked as the Law of laws, the Seer of seers and the Principal of principals in the verse above, as translated below: O Ganapati, the Seer of seers, unrivalled in wealth, King of elders, Principal of principals. Hear us and take Thy place, bringing with Thee all enjoyments. In Shatapatha Brahmana 10.4.56, the Son of God, "a second myself," dvitiya atma, is spoken of as mithuna: the "word not spoken." God's unspoken word is internal and unmanifest. Ganesha thus came to be recognized as the "God Word." The Son is the testimony of the immanence of God being generated eternally. Ganesha reflects the wisdom of His Father and is the repository of the word of God Siva. In the Taittiriya Aranyaka is a clear reference to Ganapati as Dantim (tusker). This word occurs in the Gayatri sacred to Ganapati: Tanno dantih pracodayat. Let that Tusker illumine our thoughts. In the beginning is the Word. That Word is Aum, and the resonance of Aum is heard everywhere. Aum Tat Sat. That is what It is. So declare the Vedagamas. That word is Aum. This syllable is the imperishable spirit, This indeed is the highest end. Knowing this syllable, truly indeed, Whatsoever one desires will be his.... That is the Supreme Support, Knowing that support, One becomes happy in the Brahma world. Katha Upanishad 2.15-16 This audible symbol Aum serves as a support of contemplation. One infers the unseen in the seen, the unheard in the heard. Dr. Ananda Coomaraswamy We sing in praise of Him Who is the essence of Omkaram. Satguru Yogaswami's Natchintanai The Causal Word, Aum, represents the divine thought, the source of existence. It corresponds to the power of will, known as Siva Intention, or icchha shakti. The power of knowledge known as Vishnu Formulation, or jnana shakti, and the power of action known as Brahma Expression, or kriya shakti, also express the Causal Word, Aum Omkara signifies the Supreme Siva, being both vyashti (individual) and samashti (cosmic). Thus, Ganesha Aum, the divine son of Siva, is the support of the whole universe. His sound-symbol Aum is indestructible in past, present and future. It is immortal and ageless. He is ever Pillaiyar, the cherished child of Uma-Parameshvara. By meditating on Him in the three aspects of A-U-M, devotees can realize the reality of the Godhead. The mahavakya Aum Tat Sat implies "That is what it is," and it is transmuted into the form of Ganesha. He embodies the Truth of Tat Tvam Asi, "Thou art That." Everything that our mind can grasp can be expressed in terms of kind, or category. So, category is a fundamental element of existence. All that can be counted or comprehended is a category (gana). The principle of classifications through which the relations can be understood between different orders of things, between the macrocosm and the microcosm, is called the Lord of Categories. He is Ganapati. Mahaganapati is the ruler of all the categories and can be identified with Divinity in its perceptible manifestation. He guards the first approach to life and all its manifold unfoldment. The principle of categories transcends intellect. As the Lord of categories, Ganapati rules over the universal intellect and the principles of the elements (tattvas) derived from it. It is noteworthy that Ganapati is sometimes identified with Brihaspati, the patron of letters. Mythologically, He is the scribe who writes down the scriptures. He figures as the scribe of Sage Vyasa, the author of the Mahabharata. You, leader of categories, are the writer of this Mahabharata. Mahabharata 1.1.77 In Ganesha Hindus perceive one of the basic concepts of Hindu mythological symbolism: the identity of the macrocosm and the microcosm. In our religious tradition, the remembrance of the divinity of man and the immanence of God must be present before the doer of any action. In this way a Hindu learns to bow to Ganesha at every turn. Not only is He worshiped at the beginning of every undertaking, but He guards the entrance of every house, of every temple and business establishment in the land of the Hindus. Aum Ganesha is what He is: the master guide of devotees to realize their Divinity. True knowledge is the realization of this unity which Ganesha signifies. Aum is commonly attributed to the form of Ganesha, the Lord of the Pranava Mantra, even though the three letters A-U-M signify a number of God's names when taken separately. A stands for Virat, Agni, and Vishva. U stands for Hiranyagarbha, Vayu and Taijasa. M represents Ishvara, Aditya and Prajna. Virat is the all-comprehensive universe of being. Agni is the primary element of all sacrificial ceremonies. Vishva means God Siva, since the whole universe and the objects in the universe are manifested and are sheltered in Him. He pervades all of them. Hiranyagarbha is One who is the source and support of all light and luminous bodies as the sun, moon and stars. Vayu means one who is the life and support of the universe, the cause of its dissolution. Taijasa is one who is resplendent and gives light to the sun and other luminous bodies. Ishvara is one whose knowledge and power are infinite. Aditya means immortal. Prajna denotes one whose knowledge is perfect and one who is omniscient. Thus, the sacred syllable Aum combines within itself some of the most sublime names of the Supreme Being, and connotes His omnipotent and omniscient nature and attributes. Aum thus represents, in its fullest connotation, God Siva, the Supreme Being. Aksharam Brahma Paramam Svabhavo Adhyatmam uchyate. Bhagavad Gita 8.3 Brahman is spoken of as Akshara: that which is imperishable and inexhaustible. Saint Auvaiyar also referred to Akshara, meaning eternal wisdom, in her famous poem on Vinayaka. Krishna tells Arjuna in the following verse that he who leaves the body reflecting on Aum reaches the goal of beatific bliss, paramam gatira. Aum Ityekaksharam Brahma Vyaharan mam anusmaran Yah prayati tyajan deham Sa yati paramam gatim. Bhagavad Gita 8.13 Aum is the Ekakshara, the one-syllable mantra of the Para Sivato, the word not spoken. Mantra is that which redeems when contemplated upon: Mananat thrayate iti mantra. (The Son of Siva, Ganesha, being) "a second myself," came to be recognized as the God Word Aum. When we chant the Pranava Aum -- the harmonious combination of the three basic sounds, akara, ukara and makara -- the microcosmic activity links with the entire macrocosmic activity of the cosmos, which represents the all-pervading Reality of Parashiva. Akara sound is produced from the base of the spinal cord, where the kundalini is posited, and rises to the throat. The supreme consciousness (chaitanya), functioning through the gross body in the waking state in the individual, is called vaishvanara and is represented by the first syllable, A. Ukara is the second stage, where the sound from the throat is rolled outwards to the tip of the tongue. The same supreme consciousness, functioning through the subtle body in the dream state in the individual, is called taijasa, and is represented by the second syllable, U. This makara sound is concentrated at the lips. This same supreme consciousness, functioning through the causal body in the deep sleep state in the individual, is called prajna, and is represented by the final syllable, M, in AUM. The significance of the Aum mantra is also brought out lucidly in the sikshavalli of the Taittiriya Upanishad: Aum iti Brahma, Aum iti idam sarvam Aum ity etad anukriti, Aum iti samani gayanti (1.8). And in the Chhandogya Upanishad: Aum ityetadaksharam Udgitham upasita Aum iti Hyudgayati tasyopa Vyakhyanam (2.23.3).
  14. But to explain such to ordinary human being would not be an easy task and so he related the whole eposide as an incedent that happened. What the priest or gurukal fail o do is explain the purpose of such rituals. The secret of this act is to appease our selves so that our atman or the dweller would be pleased and physiologically that would generate the energy to give positive result. Now this is what we call occult science on positive thinking. It is all there in our scriptures but for reasons only known to the guardians of the Vedas it was kept as secret documents. May be they felt they are the intelligent people well versed in Sanskrit and that translating such documents would result in lose of their livelihood. Barney.
  15. It may take sometime for you to understand but eventually you will if you explore further. When I say we are all Gods it does not mean we should possess the power in hand. It should be developed and it is not as easy as ABC. Rishis or Sages had taken hundreds of years in meditaions and self control in order to acheive that stage. But those before the verdic period already had such qualities and as I have said it slowly deminished over time because men became selfish and egoistic. When you can control all five senses in your body you would have reached half way to becoming God. This has been proven by many great divine souls. None of this HKs or the Vaishnavas would want to agree because it distrubes their belief in Krishna. Krishna was a projection of the inner conscience of Arjuna and to relate his experience he had related in parables so that ordinary people would understand the concept of God and to lead a righteous life to attain moksha. That is all to it. The power of mind is very great, greater than the out put of an electric generator. It can be focused to create visions that you cannot imagine. It is like a time capsule. We are only using a small fraction of it. Use it fully for generating love and compassion and you will realize the truth that you are looking for. Do not just brush it side. Those who have acheived are those we call Gods today because we feel we cannot be like them or do not possess their qualities. But to deny it is ignorant. One such person who proved it was Saint Ramalingam of Valladur. Read his life story and you will know where the truth is.
  16. <no, my mother is not god, she's now old and senile, and she has many health problems... let us say that love comes from the love of go> It looks like she had lost that quality whe she found out she had brought forth a child who rebels and disobeys. You have seen and experience the love she had showered on you and yet you do not even value her sacrifices she made in order to raise you to what you are today. But instead you are lookng for something that is unseen without realizeing it is within us. So, it would not serve any purpose in explaining further to someone who does not know what God is all about.
  17. You are like the Muslim fanatics in my country who would not accept logic. But if that is how you think or imagine God than I have no comment as small mind have small thoughts. And I would not force you to think in my way coz that would be like brainwashing you. I am what I am and you are what you are. We are between the DEVIL and the deep blue sea. So, it is our individual choice to break away from the chain that binds us from knowing the truth.
  18. How about if you interpret it in a different way. Arjuna is God too and Krishna is the truth or God in him that projected out of his conscience to debut with him. It could have been possible at that time as I have said humans of that era had very unique power, which in todays world we would call it illusion of the mind as scientist would put it. Like David Copperfield walking through the great wall of China and vanishing a huge elephant in thin air. But I am not saying DC is God as he could do all this but it is an example of what human mind can do to creat an illusion where it would make others wonder in amaze fo his tricks. May be you do not understand what I mean to say as you have already locked your mind in the thought that Krisha is smoewhere in the clestial world. Open your mind and you will find what I and trying to say. It is all in the mind as we all know that the mind is the most mysterious organ of all our body parts. Computer may be the the most amazing wonders of all human creations but who created the computer, it was the human brain. The capacity of the brain has no limit like the hard drive in a computer but if properly used as what the sages and rishis had done in verdic times and beyond that period surely man would have been God who had the capicity to create and control the universe. I may not know how to put it in words but if you start thinking and visualize than it would fall in place. God is but a creation of our own sub-conscious mind because it was there and has been there in our genes but we are not aware of it until scientis discovered that we could clone ourselves from the DNA our hair which we would not have known some thirty to forty years back than. Do not just stick to what you believe but explore and see whatelse you can discover. There is no end to discovery. May be we all have taken the vedas for granted and believe that all the interpretations are as what it is whiout realizing that there are hidden secrets or may be some kind of code to tell us who we really are. I am sorry if I am not in any way convincing but that is what I see and what Saint Ramalingam has discovered some two hundered years ago.
  19. They have brought out the devil in them and so we see the dark side of human being. The same Hitler or Bin Laden could have become God if they had compassion for all living being. What is GOD? Love and Truth is GOD. Why do we say God is all loving and merciful? Have you been ever showered with loving care and kisses by God directly? Surely not, but it would have been your mother who would have loved you very much and shown her love by carrying you on her shoulder, by feeding you her milk, by hugging you when you cry and it was your mother who had cared for your well being. All this could only be done by God who is the form of LOVE and TRUTH and so your mother is GOD in person and so will you if you have that love and compassion for others otherwise you are a DEVIL [sorry not you, I mean all of us].
  20. WE ARE GODS While taking bath this morning a thought ran through my mind and I wish to share this thought with all you good people. Now, most of us Hindus, Christians, Muslims and many other denominations are praying to something or someone whom we believe to be very superior to all living species on this planet. We have been thought to believe that this superior energy is called God who is the creator of this whole universe, which you could not deny or disagree totally. We have seen his wonders in many ways such as the nature surrounding as and the variety of living species and the ever-changing atmosphere from extreme cold to hot and vice versa. The night that brings out the shinning stars in the dark blue sky, the lovely moon that illuminates the night and many other wonders at the bottom of the ocean, which none of us could create by saying be. All these things would not have just sprang out of nothing. Surely there must be a seed or something that would have started the whole process of creation and evolution and there must be some sort of superior force that would have ignited this process and that force could be the God all religion is fighting to keep as their own. With all this confusion did any one of us ever thought that all these are the work of our own doing. I mean what if our forefathers had been much more intelligent and the power to create this universe. Imagine the powers they had possessed and what they could have achieved in their time. May be over the millenniums in the process of evolution we have lost that unique power and so the generation that came on later up till the present have become an ordinary mortal without the ability to use that power. The power I am talking about is the psychic power where one can communicate through mind, which is called ESP and powers that can annihilate anything within the contact of the eye. Powers that can foresee what is going to happen in the new future. Powers that would give a person control over others mind. All these are within us and yet we are unable to make use of it for reasons not know yet to man. May be before the verdict time such powers were abused by unscrupulous people for selfish reason and so it just vanished over generations. Coming back to my thoughts I believe that we are the Gods who have lost the greatest gift that could have changed the whole of mankind and that is why we are in search of the unknown God whom we think can help us in our quest in life. Why I say we are the Gods because we can reproduce or create another human life and we can concentrate and focus in order to take charge of our actions. We have all this but something is still missing and that is the power to inspire. Create visions and conquer our enemies through the use of mind and have a weaponless war in order to annihilate our enemies. Now this is the power one should seek. I believe the devil and god is within us. If we develop such powers for good use than we are Gods and if used for evil we are the devil. I believe there are those who right now are in the process of such development in various places around the world in remote hill caves where no one would distract their meditation to gain such powers. So, in short I believe we need not look for God elsewhere but in ourselves. We are the Gods everyone is seeking and we are also the Devil who is hated by the righteous people. And so friends, my advice to you today is do good deeds and become God coz the haven is within us and not elsewhere. Barney 21st. 03. 04
  21. There is a famous Rig vedic Verse that says "Ekam Sat " that is "There is one Being ,the sages call Him by many names." The God (Parmeshwar) has three deities who carry on the world .This is Known as Holy Trinity. Brahma- the creator, Vishnu - the perpetuator of life and Shiva (Mahesh ) -the purifier and perpetuator of good and destroyer of evil. Rig Veda refer Shiva as Rudra as in its following verse . "We Worship Tryambaka (Rudra) , Who spread Fragrance and Increases Nourishment , May He release me ,like the cucumber from its stem , From Mortal Life , But not From Immorality . "(Rig Veda Mandal VII Sukta 59 and Mantra 12) The Yajurveda describes Shiva as ascetic warrior Whose robe is of Deer Skin and He carries Trishul . According to the verse Satyam, Shivam ,Sundaram ,the life is described as having three facets Truth (Satyam), Good (Shivam) and the Beautiful (Sundaram). Shiva is also worshipped for internal strength to carry on good deeds. As Guru Gobind Singh pray "Deh Shiva Var Mohe Ahey ,Shubh Karman Te Kabhun Na Tarun ,Na Darun Arson Jab Jaye Laroon, Nischey Kar Apni Jeet Karoon."( O! Shiva bless me that I could never desist from Good deeds, I shall never fear if I have to fight Evil , I Shall be victorious with certainty ." Shiva is a living God. The most Sacred and ancient books of India, the Rig Veda narrates His presence in the hymns. Vedic myths, rituals and even astronomy testifies to His existence from the dawn of time .The Mohindaro and Harapa findings confirm Shiva worship in the ancient India. According to the older scriptures, He has three places of His residence. One is Kailash Parvat another is Lohit Giri under which Brahamputra flows and third is Muzwan Parvat . The four sacred Vedas, mankind's oldest scriptures, intone, "To Rudra [siva], Lord of sacrifice, of hymns and balmy medicines, we pray for joy and health and strength. He shines in splendor like the sun, refulgent as bright gold is He, the good, the best among the Gods (Rig Veda 43.45).He is God, hidden in all beings, their inmost soul who is in all. He watches the works of creation, lives in all things, watches all things. He is pure consciousness, beyond the three conditions of nature (Yajur Veda, Svet.U.6.11)." "There the eye goes not, nor words, nor mind. We know not. We cannot understand how He can be explained. He is above the known, and He is above the unknown (Sama Veda, Kena U. 1.3).Fire is His head, the sun and moon His eyes, space His ears, the Vedas His speech, the wind His breath, the universe His heart. From His feet the Earth has originated. Verily, He is the inner Self of all beings. (Atharva Veda, Mund.U. 2.1.4)."
  22. The Breath of God Is Our Breath of Life By loving your breath, you love the living God within you and attain the truth By Paramahamsa Hariharananda God is all-pervading, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent. Where is He not? He is present in every human being, in animals, insects, plants, trees, creepers, grass--all life-forms are alive due to His breath. In the Svetasvatara Upanishad, verse 6:11, it is written, "One heavenly Father is hiding in the head of every human being, all-pervading, the inner self of all beings." Residing here, in every human being, God is inhaling. God is inhaling from the day we are born. We are thus born for God realization, because our whole body is God, the whole universe is God. Without His inhalation, life ends. Human beings have two bodies. One gross body--ham (meaning "I am")--which is full of delusion, illusion and error. But on the top of the head, He is hiding in the formless state, and He is stimulating our inhalation. That is our sa body. The Shiva Svarodaya scripture's verse 51 says, "The process of exhalation is said to contain the letter ham, and the inhalation contains the letter sa." Similarly, Gheranda Samhita 5:84 indicates, "Breath of every person, in entering, makes the sound of 'sa', and in coming out (bahiryati), that of 'ham.' " This is hamsa, or so'ham. The supreme, almighty Father is hiding in the fontanel in the top of the head, pulling the inhalation, and that is why we are alive and able to do many types of work. Human beings generally do five types of work: earning money by the breath; sexual enjoyment by the breath; eating and digesting food by the breath; feeling anger, pride, cruelty in the heart-center by the breath; and getting established in a religious mood in the vacuum center, because He is inhaling. If He does not inhale, all human beings will cease. There are 49 types of breath, of which 48 give us delusion, illusion and error. There is only one very short breath called udan, air which gives calmness, godliness and liberation. God is inhaling all of these types of breaths. This is why human beings are completely engrossed in the material world. They do not know how to take this short breath. The many religions, cults, sects and monastic orders teach many different paths for God realization, but all rely on the five sense organs. Kena Upanishad verse 1:29 explains that our five sense organs are activated by the power of God, so we cannot know God by these sense organs. Observe the mind of all worldly people. They are religious, outwardly doing many good things, but their mind is constantly engrossed in the material world, becoming increasingly restless. The Kriya Yoga technique that we teach does not rely on the five sense organs. It is not written in books; it can only be learned directly from a realized Kriya Yoga master or his empowered acharyas. Kri means "to do work." Ya is your indwelling self, sa, who is hiding in your fontanel. Kriya Yoga is the foundation of all religions. What is this foundation? Calmness, which is godliness. That calmness cannot be attained without the guidance of a realized master. The professor of medicine teaches the medical students how to dissect the body intelligently. They learn the practical composition of the whole human system. Similarly, the seeker of God must learn practical spirituality from the realized master. The moment you touch a bare electric wire, your whole body becomes immediately full of electricity. Similarly, if you come to the touch of a realized master and practice faithfully according to his or her instructions, you will get divine light, divine sound and divine vibration within a short period in your whole body, and be free from all worldly sense. This human body is made of a great quantity of nerves. According to the Prashna Upanishad, verse 3:6, it is precisely 727,210,201. Because of our breath, our blood remains liquid and circulates throughout the whole body. The breath is our own living power of God. Breath is dharma. Dharma means "that which holds life together," and that is religion. Kriya Yoga gives extreme importance to the breath. It teaches that breath control is self control, breath mastery is self mastery, it is deathlessness. If you take a very short breath and seek God in the fontanel and the pituitary, you will attain calmness and God realization. The Bhagavad Gita, verse 5:27, mentions this short breath: "We are to fix our attention in the pituitary, take a very short breath and touch Him in the pituitary and in the fontanel." The breath must be so short that if you place your finger in front of your nose, the outgoing breath will not touch the finger. People of all religions, cults and creeds should first learn how to control their breath. Breath control is the foundation of all religions and the quickest means of success. In the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, verse 4:34, it is written, "If the breath is not short and touching inside the brain; if one does not maintain pin-pointed attention in the fontanel; and if the technique is not simple, easy and quick, with no big words or complicated concepts, your practice will be in vain and empty." If you give extreme love to the breath, you are a kriyavan. You will get divine joy. Your soul will be absorbed in the Supreme. As the young bride loves her husband, as the young groom gives love to his wife, as the miser loves his money, similarly everyone should love the breath. Love your breath, then you will experience the Reality, the Truth, the Joy. Calmness will come automatically and you will ultimately become a brahmavid, a knower of the Supreme. Paramahamsa Hariharananda, 90, last living realized disciple of Shri Yukteshwar, attained the supreme state of nirvikalpa samadhi in 1948. He has been teaching the authentic Kriya Yoga since then.
  23. But today none of them wants to accept the truth. It is from Hinduism that all other path of worship followed. Ravana called Lord Shiva "Chandra Shekhara" and the Mulims god Allah is the moon God whos also Shiva. He is also the the Sun God and Indra in Rig Veda. The whole world was paying oblation to Lord Shiva who is the Paramathma Sri Parameswara. The Arabs have forbidden anyone other than the chosen Arab of Mohammed's linage only to clean the inside of the Kaaba for fear that the non Arab Muslim converts might know the truth. I remember in the 70's there was a book published by an English author who happen to stumble upon his late father's journal[his father too was a writer] where his father wrote about his visit to Mecca in the early forties and wanted to discover what actually is inside the Kaaba. he converted to Islam while in Mecca and stayed there for a couple of years to gain the confidence of the selection committee who would select 12 men to clean the Kaaba of the cobwebs every twelve years once like we would repaint or repair our temples every twelve years once. Now being close with the imams and clergyies in Mecca he gain their confidence and so he was selected to go in to clean. Since you cannot take any pictures of the contents inside his father remembered every detail of the objects inside. After a few years there he returned to England and wrote the journal and what he saw inside the Kaaba. He drew the exact replica of the Shiva Linga on the pedestale. Some how after his death his son discovered the journal and wrote a book about his father's experience and whe the book was out in the seventies it was banned in all Muslim countries. This is a true story as my friend was an ex airport custom's officer who had confisticated this book from a traveller at the check counter as it was abanned and he had the opportniy to read it before surrendering the book to his superior. Anway, whatever it is Muslims all over the do not know the real truth behind the retaining of the black stone by Mohammed while he destroyed other idols in the Kaaba. Chandrashekhara [another name of Lord Shiva]was the family God of Mohammed's father who was the chief priest[gurukal] of the temple they now call Kaaba. When Mohammed created this new form of religion which he believed that only Lord Shiva is the ultimate truth and that all statues other dieties should be destroyed. His father agreed and that was how Islam was born. But he refused o accept the vedas and created his own version of holy book assimilating the Jewish Torah and Talmud[which contains manusmriti]and the NT too in order to unite the Jewish, Christian and the Hindu religion into one religion and to make Mecca the center point of a great religion so that foreign money will flow into Mecca which in turn will turn Mecca inot a rich nation in whole of Arabia. A very smart thinking Arab who was only a slave of a rich widow.

From the lowest levels of creation through the gross cosmic creation, involving in the subtleties of the Consciousness, encompassing the universe bound by the time and space and not bound by time and space. 2. What ever exists in the form of the glory of the Supreme Brahman devoid of qualities, that is symbolized by the eternal deity of the Lord Shiva in the shape of Linga. (The form of Shiva is explained below). 3. It is this Shiva that makes the cosmos cross the differential states of duality as it is the genesis of the Universe and for he recitation of this glory we recite the Rudra Namakam and Chamakam or Rudra Anuvakam or Rudra Prasnam or Rudra Adhyayam. 4. All the one who are well versed in the Vedic Realization, for the sake of achieving the eternal infinite state of consciousness which is immortal, will worship this Lord of the universe and offer oblations of their heart and soul to him. 5. The whole of the Brahmanda ( which is the gross manifestation bound by time and space and not bound by time and space) became his snake over his head. 6. The time which is the kala and which is part of the Yoga Maya, which is the cause of the creation of different states of the cosmos became his blue throat and his hands which are strong like bows. (Shiva's bow is called as Pinaka) 7. The three states of matter (Tredons - Tamasika, Photons - Rajasika, and Tachyons - Satwika) became his three eyes, and all subsidiary states of matter within these three bounds (like gasses, solids, liquids, plasma etc.) became the Rudraksha Garlands over his head, and manifested in the different aspects (bhedhaas) of Shiva. (Shiva is viewed with 5 faces to symbolize 5 elemental aspects of the Prakrithi. These faces are: VAMADEVA, TATPURUSHA, ISHANA, AGHORA, SADAASHIVA. These are called as 5 bhedhas. The 12 jyothirlingaas are the bhedas of the lingaas corresponding to these faces and 12 great temples are built for these linga bhedhaas. They are Amareshwar-Himaalayaas, Bhimeshwar- Andhara Pradesh, Chidembreshwar- Tamil Nadu, Kedareshwar- Kashmir, Mahakaleshwar- Ujjain, Mallikeshwar- Andhara Pradesh, Nageshwar, Omkareshwar- Bengal, Rameshwar- Tamil Nadu, Someswar- Gujarat, Traimbakeshwar- Maharastra, Vishveshar- Uttar Pradesh). 8. This glory of the Shiva and Linga is explained in the Rudra Suktha, for the auspiciousness and welfare of the humanity and we recite this for the Lord Shiva. Sarve Janaha Sukhino Bhavanthu.
  25. Why not Shivalinga has limbs The idols that are the symbols of Gods, often appear peculiar. There are four different kinds of symbol. These are : 1) Swambhu Vignaha - Self appearing elements created by God, that appear all by themselves like the moon, the fire, the earth and rivers etc. 2) Nirguna Vigraha - Things that are assumed to represent the invisible, shapeless forms of God like Shaligrama, Shivalinga, Narmadeshwar etc. 3) Saguna Vigraha - Forms of four-handed Vishnu, eight-handed Jagdamba with conch and wheel and four headed Brahma, five headed Shiva etc. 4) Avatara Vigraha - Shri Rama with bow and arrow, Shri Krishna, Narasimha etc. Among all these forms, the Swambhu Vigrahas (forms) are as original as made by God in the beginning. Avatara Vigrahas also remain unchanged with deformity creeping in their appearance. Nirguna Vigrahas represent or symbolize the shapeless, invisible forms. Hence there is no question of existence of limbs in them. And that is why also they are not called as the idols. To distinguish their peculiarity from the limbed idols. These forms are named as Linga. Linga means Leena that is submerged in devotion. , Shali means group of the gods and Grama means abode. Hence, because of being a symbol of shapeless God, Shivalinga and Shaligrama don't have any limbs. These also show the hidden existence of Shiva, Ganapati. SHALIGRAMA SHILAYAM TUTRAILOKYAMSACHARA CHARAM | MAYA SAHA MAHASEN, LEENAMTISHTHATI SARVADA || Meaning : O the brave warrior of the gods Kartikeya, all the moving and fixed things of the world, all the three Lokas and I, always remain submerged in the rock of Lord Shaligrama. In Skandapurana Lord Shiva Says to Kartikeya! SHALIGRAMAM HARESHCHINHAM PUNYAHAM PUJAYEMTARAH Shaligrama is the symbol of Lord Vishnu, so the man worshps it daily. Reason for the Origin of Shivalinga According to a Puranic tale, once some difference of opinions arose between Brahma the creator and Vishnu the preservor on the question of superiority. Brahma said that being the creator he was great while Vishnu maintained that being the preserver and fosterer he was great. But it could not be decided for years as to who was the greater. This indecision led to the great disturbances in creation and preservation of the universe causing an interruption in the meditation of Lord Shiva the destroyer. Lord Shiva saw that the difference of opinion between Brahma and Vishnu had taken a serious magnitude. If their dispute was not solved earlier, it could severely upset the sequence of the creation. To put their dispute at an end, Lord Shiva appeared between Brahma and Vishnu as a shapeless, formless Linga. At the same time a heavenly voice declared that whoever would first discover the beginning and end of that Linga would be the greater. Thus the practice of Shivalinga worship got started.
