  1. Eternite,

On doit seulement chanter "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare".

    [...]

Everything is one...according to this gentleman. Then you are a shaiva and a muslim. Can you accept that? Will your iskcon friends accept that?

That is not a logical conclusion. Your hatred has stolen your intelligence and integrity.

Many claim to worship Visnu, but God knows what they really worship. As Krishna says: "Hardly anyone knows Me in truth" [bG 7.3].

    manuSyANAM sahasreSu

    kazcid yatati siddhaye

    yatatAm api siddhAnAM

    kazcin mAM vetti tattvataH

    </center>

    manuSyANAm--of men; sahasreSu--out of many thousands; kazcit--someone; yatati--endeavors; siddhaye--for perfection; yatatAm--of those so endeavoring; api--indeed; siddhAnAm--of those who have achieved perfection; kazcit--someone; mAm--Me; vetti--does know; tattvataH--in fact.

Out of many thousands among men, one may endeavor for perfection, and of those who have achieved perfection, hardly one knows Me in truth.

  3. Yes, it is so humorous. The detractors, the great vaisnava poseurs claim to worship Krsna - but oops we said 'only Visnu makes one vaisnava', so I guess they're not feigning vaisnavism after all. Words, words, words - the tools and limitation of the almighty mind.

It's just like Caitanya. They have no seva, no bhakti, so they have nothing. First deserve, then desire to have an opinion - until then, don't flaunt your ignorance. You embarrass all vaisnavas.

Of course, we don't have a lot of time to devote to this God-thing. It's okay unless it interferes with our enjoyment too much.

That is why Krishna offers a number of methods for us to gradually extricate ourselves from our world of sensuous phantasmagoria. As we emerge from the circus of the senses we get a better perspective on our true condition, of God's real importance in our existence.

So that complete surrender to God, 'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven', is the ultimate; but to get to that stage the other methods of advancement can be very beneficial. Jesus said, "Those of the world will talk of the world; those of the Spirit will speak of the Spirit". Somehow we have to turn our attachments to this world into attraction to God, for as Jesus proclaimed: it is easier to pass a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man (attached man) to enter the Kingdom of God.

    Do you have the time?

    Maybe tomorrow?

  5.

Do not give thought for what you will eat or what you will wear; just seek the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you.

Just seek the Kingdom of God and all these other relationships will be perfect.

Just seek the Kingdom of God and let His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Don't water it down - find the Kingdom of life everlasting. This is Krsna consciousness; this is the Good News Jesus brought. Don't water it down and cheat yourself out of the Kingdom. First the Kingdom, always.

This is more or less what Jesus has instructed us to do. If we are going to water it down, then we will get watered-down results. But we do what we can do. Each day maybe we can do a little bit more, be a little bit more sincere. It keeps getting better, so gradually we can easily get into the zone more often, for longer periods.

But your friends - you will want to be at your best for them. And that is anything but robotic. Gone are the cliches and the empty moments. Everything becomes miraculous. Everything.

Don't water it down and cheat yourself out of the Kingdom.

  6.

But if it matters to you, I guess you could say that I am motivated by a need to find out how anyone can claim that Jesus is a Vaishnava and still be taken seriously either by Jesus followers or Vaishnavas.

I'm afraid that is not possible. I know. But you cannot. And you don't need to know. It quite factually has nothing to do with you. I'd recommend Paramatma if you are driven. But He will want to correct the motivation first; first deserve then desire.

  7. Of course, the Swami is a very elevated devotee, but I think he needs to get out of the ashram more. From the trenches out here in the modes of passion and ignorance it is apparent that most folks just aren't ready for heavy religion.

Srila Bhaktivinoda reveals the position of the swanlike vaisnava in Sri Krsna Samhita: "It is not proper for swanlike persons to reject the religious principles that people in general follow according to their situation."

  8.

Well, Bhaktivinod Thakura did not call Christ a shaktiavesha avatar and in fact criticized Christianity quite harshly in his writings. So, does this mean SP and SBST are upstarts for opposing their guru's guru?

Prior to SP and possibly SBST there are no references in the gaudiya vaishnava writings about christ or mohammed or any other religion's prophet as being a shaktiavesha avatar. It is safe to say that prior to iskcon the idea of "jesus as an empowered Vaishnava" is not a feature of gaudiya vaishnavism. Rather interesting, don't you think, that the introduction of "Jesus as shaktiavesha avatar" happens to correspond with the introduction of gaudiya vaishnavism in the west?

I don't know that "Bhaktivinoda Thakura did not call Christ a shaktiavesha avatar". Nor do I know that he ridiculed Jesus anywhere, although he disassembled current Christian philosophy, while on another occasion he lumped Christ's following with Islam and Vaishnavism.

I guess I'm puzzled and worried about our motivation here, raghu. What does it matter? Or is it a Paramatma thing? Or a siddhanta thing? Break it down - where's it coming from?

  9. Do not give thought for what you will eat or what you will wear; just seek the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you.

  10. Truth is: we will use God to get what we want in this life. That is the problem we see all around us. We dovetail our vision of God with our desires. Hence we get 107 flavours of each of twenty churches, loosely spread out to accommodate our demands for enjoyment.

Maybe it's just the way it has to be. Otherwise He could have no part at all in our lives.

For the few who occasionally rise above their conditioning, there is a chance to approach God. Then the rubber-stamping of a belief system can have some influence in their lives.
