  1. Bhagavad-gétä 2.32 -- London, September 2, 1973 So similarly, kñatriya. Kñatriya’s duty is, it is, kñätraà dvijatäà ca parasparärtham.(?) The brähmaëas will examine whether the kñatriyas are doing their duty nicely. Just like Paraçuräma, when he saw that all the kñatriyas have become rascals, he wanted to kill them all. You know that. Twenty-one times he killed. Some of the kñatriyas, they fled from India, and they came to this side in European countries. Therefore, origin of the Europeans, they are kñatriyas. Turkey, Greece, and other countries also. Kñatriya. So it is the duty of the brähmaëa to see that kñatriyas are doing nicely their duty. So similarly, kñatriyas’ duty is also to see whether brähmaëas are doing their duty. So kñatriyas were not needed to see the brähmaëas, they were so advanced brähmaëas that they were beyond examination of the kñatriyas. But another duty of the kñatriya is that people are being educated spiritually.
  2. Bhagavad-gétä 2.32 -- London, September 2, 1973 Formerly, the judgement was given by the king. Every day, king would sit. Just like we are sitting. So if there is... Formerly, there was no criminal, practically. If there was any criminal, if... It was very difficult to find out a criminal. Because these four things were forbidden. What is that? No illicit sex, no intoxication, no gambling, no meat-eating. So if one follows these four principles, naturally he is sinless automatically. And if the whole population is sinless, then where is the possibility of judging or bringing the criminal?
  3. It's when you say HINDU God. God is not HINDU. That's maybe one of the reasons for the disrespect. Your creating sectarianisum [sp] by saying HINDU God, somebody esle says MUSLIM God. Hare Krishna's say God is one. No HINDU, MUSLIMS, then the rest or most of HINDUS jump up and down, proclaiming God is HINDU. Your digging your own grave.
  4. Hare Krishna My parents went to Vraj, and got Gaura-Nitai diety, they are made of steel, [golden in colour]. Or maybe brass, but they really heavy. Also 1 set of cloths each in 2 colours. They are exactly like I seen in one temple I saw. Big eyes. So I was wondering whats the best way to 'install' them if you know what I mean. I cannot do anything big, nor do I have any utensils handy, any devotees who have done this before, know what I can do to please thier Lordships? Your servant Pankaja dasa
  5. But you need to chant more. Or if your already chanting, then you need to work on doing everything you can to make it better. Not that I follow this rule, but when you get so sick of yourown self, [body] and mind etc. You come to realize that Mayas only job is to stop you from chanting. This is realized knowledge. She'll put all kinds of impediments, you are clever devotees. I bet you can see it coming, but the trick is we believe we are doing it. Check the verse in the Gita: ahankara vimudadatma karta ham iti manyate. If you still don't believe this is true, then again your in Maya. I am telling you Prabhu, its a vicious circle. It's like looking outside inside. This is how Maya works, and 99%.9 of the people don't know this. Only In Krishna Consciousness have I found this out. And by THE GRACE of Srila Prabhupada. Here you got for a quote- Bhagavad-gétä 2.39 -- London, September 12, 1973 BG 2.39__Supreme Deceiver And Lover__12sep73_LO.MP3 Everything is being supplied by Kåñëa. Therefore He’s Supreme Being. How He can be supreme? Just like in a family the father is considered to be supreme. Why? Because he takes care of the whole family, he is supreme. Similarly, the Supreme Person, Kåñëa, He takes care of the whole creation, material and spiritual, innumerable universes, and therefore He’s sup... So when we act according to the direction of the Supreme... Because we are subordinate. This is our position. A subordinate position is that he must act according to the direction of the master or the supreme. That is natural. Everyone is acting like that. So that is called buddhi-yoga. When you act according to the direction of the Supreme, Kåñëa, or His representative, that is called <font color="red"> buddhi-yoga</font color> . That is real... Buddhi means intelligence, and yoga means linking, connecting. In the Tenth Chapter you’ll find, teñäà satata-yuktänäà bhajatäà préti-pürvakam dadämi buddhi-yogaà taà yena mäm upayänti te [bg. 10.10] There is the buddhi-yoga, one word, and here is also the buddhi-yoga. So what is that buddhi-yoga? Kåñëa says, teñäà satata-yuktänäm: “Persons who are twenty-four-hours engaged,” satata... Satata means always. Engaged. What kind of engagement? Bhajatäà préti-pürvakam. This engagement means always trying to render some service to the Lord. How? Préti-pürvakam: “with love and faith.” Not that “Oh, I have to do it? All right, let me do.” No. “Oh, I have to do it? Let me do it nicely.” Unless there is love, you cannot do it nicely, any matter. In the material world also, unless you have got some attachment for something, you cannot act it very nicely. Just like a musician. Because one has got a good attachment for music, he tries to perform it very perfectly. So love is the basis. Similarly, when you serve Kåñëa, if you have no love for Kåñëa, you cannot serve Him very nicely. And Kåñëa also does not accept your service if it is not done in great love and affection. That is the basic principle. Kåñëa does not require your service. He is self-sufficient. He has got many servants anywhere and everywhere. So Kåñëa does not require our service. It is our interest. If we render service to Kåñëa, then we become happy. That is the profit. --- Well I doubt you can find a better quote than this, if so post it /images/graemlins/wink.gif

  8. Guru is known as Jiva-tattva, and Krishna is Vishnu-tattva. So how can a Guru accept food like Vijay Prabhu just said? The Guru doesn't know that so and so disicple has offered me food. BUT the Guru gives this food to His own Guru through the chain of disicplic succession, then to Krishna. Still it still doesn't mean the Guru knows about it. So then the next thing would be, we are actually offering food to both Guru and Paramatma within Guru. Is it not? But then it says Guru is the Representative of Paramatma. So can we really be 100% Sure that the Guru doesn't know? Well it says the Guru is ACTING as the representative. So why is it of the utmost importance for the Guru to know if so and so disicple is offering food? Krishna knows you are doing it. I think we should not forget that Guru is also a devotee. By this sort of questioning we are trying to equate Guru with God, which is against our Sampradaya. I saw a post which Krsna Prabhu posted on another thread by Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati, It says that Guru is achintya, inconcievable. Also Bedha-bedha, one and different from Krishna. So just see hows it immossible to know Guru. Hare Krishna
  9. Isvaku dasa- History of the uninterrupted Ganges valley civilization of India for 1,900 million years according to the Bhagwatam. Taking into account the formation of the ozone layer and the development of the atmosphere on the earth planet (after the previous pralaya), it must have been around 1,900 million years ago when the human civilization started. Shukdeo says that in this kalp (day) of Brahma, Swayambhuva etc., six manvantars have already elapsed. The seventh one is running. Swayambhuv was the first Manu of this kalp. His wife was Shatroopa. They had two sons and three daughters. In the family succession of the first son, Priyavrat, Rishabhdev, Bharat, Jadbharat and Prahlad are the most important ones. Dhruv was from his other son Uttanpad, and Bhagwan Kapil was from his daughter Deohooti who was married to Sage Kardam. Much later in the generation of Dhruv, in the sixth manvantar, the greatness of King Prithu and Prachetas is notable. The descriptions of these family successions and generations run from the fourth to the ninth canto of the Bhagwatam. They describe just the important events of that manvantar that teach a devotional moral and propound the Gracious kindness of God that are helpful for a seeker of God's love in strengthening his faith and improving his dedication for Him. The second manu was Swarochish, the third was Uttam, the fourth was Tamas, the fifth was Raivat and the sixth was Chakchush. The seventh one is Vaivaswat Manu, the present one. There is also a brief description of the future seven manus in the eighth canto of the Bhagwatam. In all of the Puranas similar descriptions are found with less or more reflections of these events. Sometimes certain events do not mention the name of the manvantar in which it had happened because it is all the happening of a single day of Brahma, and moreover, the motive of their description is to induce faith and dedication in a God seeker's mind, not to satisfy the intellectual thirst of a worldly historian. However, the chronology of time since the birth of Brahma is perfectly maintained and that very fact is enough to believe that our scriptures are Divinely produced. History of the present manvantar of Vaivaswat Manu that started about 120 million years ago and up to 3072 BC. Vaivaswat Manu had ten sons and one daughter (Bhag. 8/13/1-3 and 9/1/11,12,16). The eldest son was Ikchvaku. Kaushal (Ayodhya) was the kingdom of Ikchvaku dynasty. A main branch of this family succession was called `Surya Vansh.' His daughter's name was Ela who gave birth to a son named Pururva from the celestial god Budh, the son of Som or Chandra Deo (Bhag. 9/1/35). Later on this family was called `Som Vansh or Chandra Vansh.' Bhakt Ambarish was the grandson of Nabhag who was the son of Vaivaswat Manu. In the family succession of Ikchvaku, Mandhata, Satyavrat (Trishanku), Harish Chandra and his son Rohit, Sagar, Aushuman, Dileep and Bhagirath, who brought Ganga on the earth planet, are notable; and also Khatwang who realized God in only 45 minutes before his death. Khatwang's son Raghu, his son Aj and his son Dashrath; his son Bhagwan Ram, and Lav and Kush, are the main Divine personalities who really established the greatness of Surya Vansh in the world. The family succession of Lav and Kush runs up to the Mahabharat war when Brihadbal was killed by Abhimanyu. This family succession goes further up to Sumitra where the Ikchvaku succession ends. (It's all described in the ninth canto of the Bhagwatam.) In the distant family succession of Pururva, there is a description of Maharishi Jamdagni whose son Parashuram killed Sahasrabahu Arjun of Haihai family. There is also an account of Sage Shaunak and Yayati of Nahush family. In the Chandra Vansh family succession, the important personalities are, Dushyant, his son Bharat, and Bharadwaj. In the lineage of Bharadwaj, King Hasti established Hastinapur. His son Ajmeedh had many sons. In one of his son's family succession were Drupad, Dropadi and Dhristdyumn; and in the other son's family succession Kuru was important who lived in Kurukchetra. Kuru had four sons. From here, the family succession of Kuru branches out in two very important sections. In the fifth generation of his son Sudhanva was Brihadrath who established the kingdom of Magadh. His son Jarasandh was killed in Mahabharat war by Bheemsen. In the twelfth generation of his other son Jahnu was Shantanu who was the King of Hastinapur. Shantanu had three sons. Bhishm from Ganga (he always remained single) and Chitrangad and Vichitravirya from Satyavati, who was also the godmother of Bhagwan Ved Vyas. Chitrangad had no child and Vichitravirya died at an early age. So, on the request of Queen Satyavati, Ved Vyas Divinely caused both wives to conceive just by sight. They gave birth to Pandu who had five sons called the Pandavas, and Dhritrashtra who had hundred sons called the Kauravas (the eldest of whom was Duryodhan). They fought the Mahabharat war. After winning the Mahabharat war, Yudhishthir, the elder brother of the Pandavas, ruled Hastinapur for 36 years and 8 months, and after the ascension of Bhagwan Krishn to His Divine abode, the Pandavas also travelled to the north and left their body in the Himalayas. Kaliyug started immediately after the ascension of Krishn (Bhag. 12/2/33) in 3102 BC. Parikchit the grandson of Arjun became the king, who, after the 30th year of his reign (in 3072 BC), left this world after listening to the Bhagwatam. His son was Janmejaya. The dynasty of Chandra Vansh ended with Chemak and then other dynasties ruled Hastinapur. The kingdom of Magadh remained in power up to the end of Gupt dynasty (83 BC). In the family succession of Brihadrath, Marjari (the grandson of Jarasandh) became the king of Magadh after the Mahabharat war in 3139 BC.

  21. Dandavats, That was most wonderful to hear. Brought tears to my eyes. For why I posted it was for younger generation. Not for pure devotees. I don't feel its our place [mine] to say anything about Iskcon in the way pure devotees many seem to talk about it. Why should I be a hypocrite? But then others may say the same about Iskcon. Still the issue is to change myself first of all. Prabhupada spread Krishna Consciousness through purity through chanting. I hope that's clear. Ps. JayaNitaiGaura Prabhu that Festival Lectures is not on-line far as I know sorry.
  22. Could somebody post this on this site, I can't make it work- http://www.hinducounciluk.org/index.asp Please.!!!! Hare Krishna Thankyou for this site, though I have one question- http://www.hinducounciluk.org/hindugods.htm Hindus believe in one Supreme God, Brahmm, the formless infinite spirit. Hinduism is supposed to be 'apauruseya', i.e., of impersonal origin & so also are the Gods of Hinduism. They are eternal & though the deities appear to be different & independent, they are really facets of the same Brahmm, the Supreme God. . As Sri Ramakrishna says, there can be as many spiritual paths as there are spiritual aspirants & similarly there can really be as many Gods as there are devotees to suit the moods, feelings, emotions & social background of the devotees. --- Not all Hindus have this view. In fact this is Advaita point of view or from Sankrcharya. This is not what is taught in the Bhagavad-gita. Krishna teaches pure love of God [bhakti-yoga] whereas Impersonalism teaches spiritual voidness, in the Brahmajyoti [great spititual sky]. The goals are completely different, and have nothing to even do with Sanatana Dharma. Sanatana Dharma means knowing who you are? Who God is? What nature is? What time is? etc. Krishna and Vishnu are known as Vishnu-tattva and we are Jiva-tattva, at no time can we become God, as our eternal purpose is Sanatana Dharma [to serve krishna] by loving Him. This is the point I am making. I see you give sites to Prabhupada Gita. Did you ever read it? If so then maybe you should. This teaches pure loving devotional service to God. It doesn't teach voidness in either material sence or spiritual. Please take some time to consider these views. 500 Years ago Krishna appeared as His own devotee as Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, with His brother Lord Nityananda [balarama]. They came to freely give love of Krishna. Which impersonal libearation cannot even touch in its pleasure. Over the years many impersonalists and Mayavadis have become Vaishnava's due to thier lack of Bliss in speculation and impersonalility. This is noted throughout the history of India. But it all depends what your desire is, some people want Liberation, some want just to serve Krishna. Either way there is no interaction in the impersonal path. No activity, this is basically spiritual sucicide.
  23. This should answer you question [1st part]. I asked this to a devotee, he said it was ok to post here. How does Krsna benefit by someone chanting his name? -- Your question is interesting. You have asked how Krsna benefits when someone chants His name. So, I have two responses. The first response is that Krsna benefits when His name is chanted purely or when a pure devotee is in a loving relationship with Him. Krsna enjoys the exchange with His pure devotees. That is why we were created in the first place. God wanted to enjoy lila so he created multitudes of living entities, all endowed with free will. He does not want to force anyone to love Him; rather He wants to be loved because of His charm and transcendental qualities. Now we are endeavoring to unravel the mystery of love, which is an unconditional experience that occurs when you are helplessly attached to the welfare of another. To taste such Divine love for Krsna is like no other love. It has no equal. No Personality can capture the heart as deeply as Krsna. If you read Nectar of Devotion, you find that above ruci and bhava is the stage of prem. This means that when the individual soul finally understands that he is meant for full engagement in the lila of Lord Krsna, he actually surrenders to Krsna and accepts a loving exchange with the Lord. In the material world, when a mother finally gives birth , her whole world changes; she stops everything else and accepts the responsibilities of loving and nourishing her child. Similarly, when a Krsna devotee in this world finally understands that Krsna Consciousness is everything, he surrenders to his nature and engages in loving Krsna exclusively. Now the Lord is free to be Himself in the arms of His devotee. Prabhupada says that both the Lord and His pure devotee shine like a diamond in a ring. In other words, they are both free to enjoy rasa on the most intimate imaginable platform, with the Lord always being the object and cause of love. So, Krsna is always interested in deep loving relationships because they fit perfectly into His nature. In fact, the more relationships the better and the more intrigue the better. He loves to satisfy His devotee's love for Him. So, there you have it! Krsna benefits from the pure chanting and relationships with His pure devotees because He loves to reciprocate their loving feelings for Him. The other response to your question would be more appropriate for those who are fresh on the path. It is not so much how Krsna benefits because we know that Krsna is atmarama or self satisfied. He does not need anything from anyone to be happy. But for one who chants the Holy Name of Krsna, Krsna is no longer impartial but becomes that devotee's friend and guide. So, it is us who are benefiting by associating with Krsna the Supreme Pure. Just like the sun that shines on all things. Even something dirty becomes benefited by the shining rays of the sun. So the sun is impartial yet good by nature. It helps everyone and yet never becomes dirty in the process. Krsna is the same. He descends to the material world in His original body just to benefit us yet never becomes contaminated in the process. Krsna comes to recruit prospects for the spiritual world. If someone is ready, he becomes attracted by Krsna's message. If someone is attracted to Krsna, then Krsna sends his bona fide representative to give daily guidance. With regular practice, the remaining contamination that covers that devotee is removed and he becomes free to express unbounded love for the Lord. That is how Krsna recovers His devotees. This process goes unnoticed by the nondevotees but the devotees know this to be true. It has been going on for the entire life of the universe and will never stop. Prabhupada compares Krsna's appearance and disappearance to the sun that rises on one area of the universe while setting on another area of the universe. So Krsna is always somewhere within the material world, doing His road show to attract devotees Back to Home, Back to Godhead. Mahashaki dasa

Sorry can't click and play. I am putting here just so devotees know how much Prabhupada felt indepted to his disicples. And how much they helped him, so people like me, can appreiciate these older disicples even more. As for people who say about Godbrothers, Prabhupada did this to protect his disicples. So that's where the story ends. Ps. We all know who I am posting this for /images/graemlins/mad.gif
