  2. I recently e-mail BV Narayana Maharaja with some questions, was very surprized to recieve quick e-mail back from his personal secratary Brajanatha Prabhu. Reply is forwarded to me. Hare Krishna Pranamas. I am Pankaja dasa in UK Initiated of Bhakti Vaibhava Puri Maharaja-- 1st Initation. Maharaja I have question, # Best way to serve Guru is? Reply: to know the heart of your Gurudeva and serve him without duplicity, as he is ordering you. # Best way to please Guru is? Reply: to develop and practice your sadhana and bhajan and inspire all whom you meet to do the same. # Can I please Guru just by chanting Hare Krishna? Reply: by chanting pure Name, without offense, all perfection will automatically manifest # Do I love Sri Radha in servertor mood just like Lord Gauranga? Reply: we are followers of Srila Rupa Gosvami, how he served his Gurudeva and how he practiced pure bhakti. This is our relationship with Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. # Can we attain Krishna without the mercy of Sri Radhe? Reply: first you should obtain the mercy of your Gurudeva, then you will be able to understand how to attain the final goal in life, which is Krishna prema. Thankyou.
  3. Question and Answer -Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Question: I have a question for our Gurudev and would like to ask you to see if Gurudev has time to answer it.Some of my old friends still drink and eat meat. I did preach to them and they did like it but it seems that theyhave difficulties to stop drinking. I do pray to Lord Krishna for His mercy for them. But do I have rightto ask the Lord Himself to help them stop doing this nonsense? I myself am fallen and have no goodqualities. I have so many defects. How is then is Lord Krishna going to listen to my prayers? How is itpossible for a fallen person to satisfy the Lord and ask Him for protection of others? How can I help my friends?I feel compassion for them and would like to see them stop eating meet and drinking alcohol. What is the bestway of helping them? --------------------- <font color="Pink"> The following is the affectionate and enlithtening reply of Srila Gurumaharaj to the letter:</font> <CENTER><TABLE ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=550><TR><TD> <FONT SIZE="3" face="Trooper Roman Light "> My dear Sree ......, I have gone through your letter dated 14 June, 2005 addressed to Tamalkrishna Brahmachari sent by email and noted the contents. I think it will be better to get clear understanding for the solution of your problem, by going through the conversation of Kapil Bhagavan and Devahuti in third canto, twenty-fifth chapter of Srimad Bhagavat. Kapil Bhagavan has mentioned qualities of bona fide sadhu. First He has narrated the concomitant qualities and after that original qualities of a sadhu. In mentioning about the accompanying qualities, He has said that sadhus are compassionate to the conditioned souls. They themselves are trying to remove the root cause of the miseries of conditioned souls-aversion to Sree Krishna, by persuading them to worship Supreme Lord and practically practising in their lives. But inspite of that, the conditioned souls, due to their bad impressions of previous lives imbibed by evil propensities, have got the aptitude to commit sins. The aspirant who has got the desire to remove evil propensities, should try himself to change his evil propensity. Outside sympathetic persons may help him by spiritual instructions, but he has to try for this from his own initiative. "God helps them who help themselves", "Help thyself and God will help thee"- Herbert. Sree Prahlad Maharaj tried his utmost to rectify his son Virochan by his own ideal life and teachings, but failed. By that he did not become unbalanced, because he had the knowledge that inspite of his endeavour and teachings, his son may or may not accept his advice due to influence of previous bad impressions. Supreme Lord and His Absolute Counterpart Gurudeva do not interfere into the relative independence of the conditioned souls. Supreme Lord is Omnipotent, He can do whatever He likes. But if He forcibly interferes, the person will be bereft of consciousness. If consciousness is destroyed, neither the person nor Supreme Lord will be benefited. So Supreme Lord by His personal appearance in the world and His personal associates, try to persuade the aspirant to submit to and accept the teachings of Supreme Lord willingly. Your effort to help your friends is laudable. You should not stop your endeavour and affection for your friends but you should not be disheartened if your friends are unable to accept your teachings. I was glad to see your son in the last videoconference. May All-Merciful Sree Sree Guru Gauranga Radha-Krishna bless you all. My love to you all. My love to you all. Affectionately yours, Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha
  4. Svapana Vilasamrita: Meditation on the Divine Dream of Shri Radha about Shri Gauranga Mahaprabhu: Eight Prayers Describing Nectar Pastimes in a Dream by Shrila Vishvanatha Chakravarti Thakura (1) Srimati Radharani said: Beloved, in a dream I saw a river shore like the Yamuna here. There were many expert dancers as in Vrndavana. There were mrdangas and other instruments. There was a brahmana jewel personality (Gauranga) as splendid as lightning who was tossing the universe into an ocean of pure love. (2) Sometimes He calls out: "O Krsna!" and sometimes He sighs: "O Radha, where are You?" Sometimes He falls to the ground, sometimes He acts wildly, losing all composure, and sometimes He dances ecstatically with His loving associates. He has made all the residents of this world, from the blades of grass up to Lord Brahma, loudly call out the name of Krsna. (3) As I gazed at Him, My intelligence became bewildered. If He is my lover, where am I? If He is I, where is My lover? If He is My lover, where am I? As I slept, I became more and more bewildered. (4) Sri Krsna said: O inquisitive girl, when I showed You Narayana and My other forms You were not surprised. Why does this golden brahmana form Gauranga surprise You? Why does He bewilder You so You say "Who is He?" (5) After speaking these words to His beloved, the smiling lover, Krsna, touched His Kaustubha jewel. The jewel, understanding the Lord's intent, glowed and then showed all the same pastimes and all the moving and non moving entities She saw in her dream. (6) Srimati Radharani reflected for a moment and said: Beloved, I know what is in Your heart now that makes You smile. You are He Gauranga. What You have said and thought is now clear to Me, and therefore I think I am also He. (7) Making this Kaustubha jewel, which is so delightful to Us, shine in this way, You have revealed Yourself as Gauranga to all living entities. By Your own transcendental potency You will appear, display Your pastimes, teach everyone, and again plunge the world into the ocean of pure love. (8) In the king of Vraja's presence, the learned Vedic scholar Gargacarya said that You will appear with a yellow complexion as Gauranga. He did not lie. This dream of Mine is true. It is not an illusion. In this dream I have directly seen You. (9) If the bumble-bee of the reader's mind drinks the nectar of this Svapna-vilasamrta, then that intelligent reader will quickly awaken from the dream of materialistic doubt. Such a reader will attain Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu. He will sport in the ocean of pure love. He will attain the peerless mercy of the king of Vrndavana. Those Two Divine Persons Shri Shri Radha Krishna in Nidhuvana surrounded by girlfriends in all directions sleeping in the lazy lounging of mellows at the end of night, the Moon-faced One gets Shri Radha up crying and crying. She saw a dream and speaks to Her dearest Friend Lord Krishna. "get up! get up! Oh Lord of My life! what have I seen Just now? He was a youth with a fair golden complexion and such a beautiful body conquering millions of Cupids. He looked like the King of Mellows and the veritable reservoir of relishable tastes. He was continuously decorated with ecstatic moods like tears, trembling, goose-bumps and dancing and singing in the greatest divine madness. Beholding that matchless beauty, My eyes are inundated with tears and My mind runs to catch another glimpse of Him. That golden form like a fresh new raincloud the storehouse of most delicious divine mellows: I can't see Him here with My eyes! Why has this fate befallen Me? Please tell Me the reason, dear Lord! here in Vrindavan I have seen many demigods of the forest with four arms or more: they never disturbed My mind but this Gauranga Form has completely stolen My mind!" Saying this much, the most fortunate Radhika falls into a deep swoon and the most clever of Relishers Lord Krishna takes Her into His lap and seeing this the poet Jagadananda is captivated. Hearing these nectarean words from Radha's lips the clever Krishna contemplates His response blossoming from His own ecstatic moods. He says, "Dear Sundari Radha? oh Beautiful Maiden! No one knows the golden-complexioned form of Gauranga which You speak about but I have taken such a golden form being enchanted only with Your love. What is the quality of Your love? What is the degree of Your sweetness? What is the source of Your happiness? - these three most valuable desires of Mine are not fulfilled in Vrindavana what more can I say? This limitation is incomprehensible! After due consideration I have decided that other than by assuming Your form I cannot taste such happiness at all. Accepting the luster of Your ecstatic moods and making Your love My Guru I will manifest Myself in Navadvipa as Lord Gauranga serving My heart's intention I will be freed from all inner obstacles and I will distribute the wealth of ecstatic loue to every corner of the universe." The poet Balarama dasa says my Lord Gauranga-Krishna is full of mercy but I am the most fallen among men and I have failed to worship Him. Listen to My desires, oh Beautiful Maiden Radha! I will manifest the ecstatic love of Vrindavana and together with all My cowherd friends I will sport in the towns of Navadvipa. Unifying Our two bodies into one form I will incessantly chant My and Your holy name. I can never leave Vraja for pure love is not attainable anywhere else so in the mood Vraja I will fulfill My desires and manifest Navadvipa which is completely non-different from Vraja." The poet Balarama dasa has a realization of this conversation. Hearing these words of Her Beloved Shri Krishna, the Moon-faced One Shri Radha was very happy in Her heart and She said, "Listen, oh Lord of My life! You have certainly told the truth I know now that My dream was factual, oh what a beautiful form I had seen! Continuing Our companionship, Our two bodies will become one. It will be impossible to understand how it happens for how will You remove Your crown? And how will You hide Your flute? And how will Your dark form become golden?" Hearing this, the moon-like Lord Krishnachandra displayed the reflection of Shri Radha's body in His brilliant Kaustubha gem and entering into it Himself, two bodies became one and its every limb was pervaded with ecstatic love. This was Their conversation at Nidhuvana and Their two bodies became one and thus took birth in Navadvipa - meeting with all Their dearest devotees and chanting the gaurahari-nama-sankirtana They inundated the entire universe in the gushing flood of purely ecstatic love by their sankirtana. Externally They delivered the fallen souls and internally They tasted divine mellows of sporting in the company of the cowherd boys and the cowherd girls of Vrindavana. The mind of the poet Vaishnava dasa sees Their reddish lotus feet but is unable to see the waves of such happiness. Shri Radhika tells Her girlfriend: "My eyes flow with ever-ebbing tides of tears and tears of bliss. In a dream I have seen Gauranga-Kishora. Each and every day He happily sports in. Navadvipa along with His devotees. Oh My dear girlfriend! What more can I say about the ecstasy of My night? Every night I dream of the moon-like face of Shri Gaurangachandra. All the townspeople of Navadvipa are so disturbed when they don't see Lord Gauranga but when they catch a glimpse of His face all their sorrows are cast afar." Not seeing these visions my heart splits and Narahari dasa rolls in the dust weeping. (end)
  5. I see faith as an individual thing quite apart from some group head count -- Good point.
  6. Jesus looks like Haridas Thakur in Caitanya-lila. -- On what do you base this comparison? This is like Christian sectarian mentality. They always hold Jesus as greater than anybody else, or make a comparrison like you just did. What is the point? I cannot think of any Vaishnava who has previusly made such comparisons. Actually now that I think of it, it's usually US neophyetes devotees who say this to make our faith grow. Harisada Thakura and Lord Jesus Christ cannot be compared in my opinion. Because they are both so different. I suspect to make this comparison you would take yourself far away from Gauranga-lila. Anyway.. [You never listen to me anyway]
  7. When all you have is Neophytes running around. Then what can you expect? They can only contaminate people with thier position. Like Russel crow Prabhu says, people should know when they conqured. [Turn that around]
  8. Whats Tony Blair going to do? Deply a Nuke on London? He can't go to War with His [His!] own country. I think only person he can blame is Osama bin laden. But where the hell is he? Only replying cause I am in Uk. I am not part of this thread.
  9. Wait for it.... drum roll....wait for it.. Did you wait? Don't lie. What is thier Goal? Love of Godhead or Moksa.

Then may the threefold forms of karma, accumulated over many births, be immediately annihilated and may I be granted entrance into the eternal realm of King Nanda's divine son. PHULA SRUTI The aspirant who recites this hymn on the full moon day, on the eighth day of the waxing moon, and on the tenth, eleventh and thirteenth days of the waxing and waning moons, achieves the fruition of his desires and, by the grace of Sri Radhika's compassionate sidelong glance, bhakti characterized by prema sprouts in his heart. The aspirant who recites this hymn one hundred times, while immersed in the waters of Sri Radha kunda, either up to his waist, up to his navel, up to his chest, or up to his neck, achieves the perfection of his desired ends and whatever he speaks comes true, he is endowed with full spiritual opulence and gets the direct, personal darshan of Srimati Radharani. Being pleased with him, Srimati Radhika immediately grants him the greatest benediction and he gets to see with his own eyes Her darling sweet Lord, Sri Syamasundara. The Lord of Vraja, in His turn, grants that devotee an entrance into His eternal sports. For the Vaisnavas there is no greater goal to be achieved than this.
  11. What will you gain? I suggest ask yourself if YOU want Krishna. [Whether He is Supreme or not]
  12. I asked a great devotee about this this- Our Bhagavatam Version has not 18000, but even less than 15000. this is because the anustubh has 32 syllables. But many verses in the Bhagavatam are written in vasant tilaka (which has 56 syllables) or upendra vajra which has 44 syllables. So in total there are 18000 slokas (anustubh). If one counts all syllables of the Bhagavatam and divides it in 32 then we will have 18000. Different Opinion- Gangasahaya philosopher Even if one counts all the syllables in the Bhagavatam and divides it by 32 will not get the 18000 but 16207. But if you count all the uvacas and take them as whole anustubh (1332 pieces) and add the chapter endings taking as upendra vajra (460,6) then you get 17999,6 "slokas". That is the method of Gangasahaya who was a Bhagavatam commentator from the 19th century. ___ Shukadeva recited almost 2000 verses daily to complete it in 7 days. In the heavenly planets Shrimad Bhagavatam has many more verses There are emany styles of verses in Shrimad Bhagavatam vasant tilaka, upendra vajra and Anustubh. Anustubh is the normal verse style for small verses. Our Acharyas have accepted it is unchanged. If someone changes the style, they have to change the verse also, no one can change..so easily. Sankaracharya did not write commentary on Shrimad Bhagavatam because he could not interpret Sarirakya bhasaya is commentary on the Gita
  13. I really said that? I am changed person now. Guru is all I have. I was really imature back then, been going to too many forums listening to people advice instead of following my heart. One thing I NEVER GOT from people was. Yes follow your own Guru, love Him, respect Him, I never got this. I did get follow Prabhupada and love Him. But I took initation from BVP Puri Maharaja, I don't know why that is but it ruined most of my spiritual life, because I never got attached to my Diksaya Guru. I hear many devotees say we must love Prabhupada which is true. But they seems to forget that there is not only one Vaishnava in Vaikuntaloka. That's not harsh it's a fact, you have to esp love your own Guru. Maybe it's because of Guru fall-downs? Did they really fall? In Iskcon. But at end of the day, if I was more attached to my Guru in the start. Then I would have more love and respect for Prabhupada NOW. Than ever before. bas.
  14. Manchester, and London. There is not time diff between them!] 17 Jul 2005 Su Suddha Ekadasi G Subha Visakha * Fasting for Sayana Ekadasi 18 Jul 2005 Mo Dvadasi G Sukla Jyestha Break fast 06:12 - 10:14 (Daylight saving not considered). One more thing, a Vaishnava said to me that if your not sure about when to open fast, you can open at 6.am. On my download Page I updated the Ekadasi download, i never noticed that some of the links didn't work. dandavats.
  15. I wish I'd never asked now. my addy is pankaja_dasa@ By the way, Sunday he said it will go down. You don't have long hurry, !
  16. I sent the mail, for some reason thinks I am sending spam to your add. Check your spam box. Anyway, the details I gave were correct since I downloaded so far 6 Lectures.
  17. Hare Krishna, Does the PRESENT Bhagavatam actually contain 18,000 verses, or are they reduced by way of disicplic succession. Sukadeva Goswami [i love the way Aamala Bhakta dasa pronounces His name!] recited them to Maharaja Parakshit in 7 Days flat. But I'm already on Canto 4 while hearing it. I don't think it took me more than 2 days I think. Only hearing it cause Lord Gauranga says we should.
  18. http://www.krsnaconsciousness.org/Gauranga/Exe/Bhagavad-gita-Diacritic.exe Goto the downloadpage to get it as well. You'll need the Balarama fonts installed. Get those at 'the page too!! Gaura-Nitai-Haribol!
  19. Question- Why is it that just before death we are to recieve Spiritual Planets, what is the significance of the time just before death?
  20. Big sky we will love Krishna. Think about this- What is the difference between infinite space and a small object in the spiritual sense? Answer nothing. This is what God is about, He can prevade the entire Universe but still be situated as one. But our minds cannot concieve of this. It's ossible to only know by research maybe Impersonal aspect. But only Bhakti you can know the personal aspect of God, which is far far beyond the reach of our material sences. Gauranga-Nityananda! /images/graemlins/grin.gif
