  1. valaya: I sense that you may appreciate the

value of painful separation in love which enables each

one of us to individually relate emotionally

    with Srimati Radharani.

Not that I have one drop--- but too many tears coming.

Talasiga, thanks for never answering where you are at. What then, if I never get a chance to share your company?

    Providence can be so cruel

if not seen as our friend.

  2. Dear Melvin, rather than be the judge I'll just commend you in propagating the Holy Name of Sri Krsna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, this can bring nothing but good to the world if done sincerely, without speculation. And with the same motive as all our predesessor acharyas ie. To spread love and understanding of God unto others, to give relief to those struggling in a world of confusion. If you can shed a little light in anyones' consciousness, and help to break down sectarian or religious barriers founded on the bodily platform, you are doing a service to God and humanity, and it is to your credit that Gauranga utilize you as His vehicle, to bridge the difference in faith by focusing on the common threads of all, not emphasizing the differences that divide one against the other.

I'm curious to know what sort of response you draw to your writing contributions?

Personally I feel more of such dispensation should be practiced by Mahaprabhus devotional community to spread his message of mercy to every heart, for in Him lies the key to Absolute harmony. Rather than conflicting amongst ourselves if we could galvenize the glorious gift He has bestowed upon us to spread the waves of Krsna Consciousness far and wide, there would be far less misery and suffering all round. There are so many out there in need of relief and each small drop of His divine glories can bring infinite nourishment to the whole environment. Devotional disspensation is it's own sweet reward.

Srila Sridhara Maharaj would simply say,

'Give and get." For the more we try to give what we have in our hand the more Krsna will increase our capacity.

You give all your brightness away and it only makes you brighter.

  3. Excuse me for posting these couple of posts mixed in with these other posts on 'sexism and related topics' there is absolutely no relationship of the divine with some of these personal experiences so if it is possible I will try to edit my contributions off the thread some how.

Dandavats to the ladies and gentlemen Madhavi long time no hear How are you and yours. Gotta fly now.

  4. Hmmm not a good sign.

It's a very bizarre place Afghanistan, there are nationalities from all over the planet even English who have joined this guys sect and his cause. When it comes down to it, it seems he's just another charismatic fannatic

who has harnested a movement of rebelious spirit to overthrow what they see as an unsatisfactory system, only difference is that he has had the wealth to materialise a powerbase, that has caught the world by surprise.

There's every chance he and many that follow him may be smacked out, or at least stoned which may account for that placid look about him and much of the irrationality of many that follow this path. As we know this place is riddled with it and they all claim they are cleaning up to please the world community but itis almost their lifeblood. Personally I think wipe out the dope and a lot of strange behaviour pattens will disapear.

Hmmmm had a feeling he might have been vegetarian as there are many there who live on very simple vego. diets like the middle eastern vegetarians who live on dried fruit, nuts and milk. Better change your tac at work now folks if that info. seeps out.

  6. Here's a young guy just asking for a simple bit of guidance in increasing his faith. Why do some on this forum have to turn his heart and mind into another battlefield, I think it would serve new people who visit this place if the regulars who take pleasure in duelling with each other keep it on threads that carry that mood, or maybe there should be a place devoted to War, difference, dissention, offence, vindictiveness, scorn, argument, slander, and all the other stuff and anyone who has some, can hang out there and dump on each other, or if one wakes up in another bad day you just get into it with others in that mood, down at the dumping ground, call it 'Kuruksetra'.

It may well be the flavour of the month, but don't some of you ever grow tired of it? Can't we change channels. It just makes me wonder if others may wish to participate here, but they've got to wait for a moment to come in between bullets and suicide bombings, we don't deny this is the nature of the world and the age we're living in and perhaps some don't wish others to taste this particular kind of KC, but according to my understanding this example isn't the Krsna Consciouness that most are searching for. I just request of the contributors to give the newcomers a chance to even get in the door.

Is this unreasonable to ask for just a little discernment where devotees have their skirmishes, or am I just out of step with the rasa.

I have to excuse myself for expressing this on Sanjays thread, but he must be asking himself what a lot of it has to do with his question, so I hope you are still with us and the responses haven't blown you away.

  7. xcuse the belated response here guys but I wrote it straight after Audarya Prabhu posted and then got diverted for a day before I could return anyway looks like JR has seized the ball and danced with it,doesn't she get excited?

I had a few similar sparks along the same line. Maybe we should start a confessional booth here, any suggestions for a pastor?

Thank you all for such a sharing and thoughtful thread.

    Das:Likewise

AL;Thought I would just comment a little bit about the sacrament of confession (or reconcilliation as it is now called). I have had many discussions with my wife with regard to confession and what the Gaudiya Vaishnava's do in this regard - in other words - is there an analogous sacrament in our tradition? What I have realized through these discussions and through taking my daughter to the classes leading up to her first confession is that the sacrament is very beautiful and requires not only introspection but a great deal of humility. It also involves quite a lot of austerity, tapa, which is how I explained the concept to my daughter. I told her about Lord Brahma sitting on the lotus in darkness and ignorance and hearing the word - tapa - and his performance of austerity which led to enlightenment. I don't know how many of you are ex-catholics, but for those that are, I want to tell you that the Catholic church has come a long way in the past few decades.

Das:I've often wondered alot about this topic, and it's interesting you brought it up, definately something missing in the Gaudiya tradition, that is councilling and confession, even tho we have sadhu sanga and sat sanga, ishta gosthi, we don't seem to utilize it correctly, to sound our deepest darkest secrets out for another trusted medium of God to empathize with. Somewhat like helping carry anothers load.

AL:It takes a lot of courage to share with another person the faults we have and the fall downs that we experience in our journey. The rite of reconcilliation is really quite like the concept of revealing your heart and mind to Sri Guru or an advanced Vaishnava in order to make advancement and seek ways of improving your situation.

Das:Generally our guru is there to give us solutions to our struggle and failings thru a positive injection of the beautiful knowledge of the Lords' world, and Their all merciful love for us. As our living guardians, if genuine, have that balm in their heart and this is the panacea for all ills and perplexing tribulations that plague this suffering animation.

But rarely do they address some of the niggly relationship problems we encounter, as they usually arn't there so much like marriage councillors, and little problem solvers. After all their service is to help deliver us from this whole material misconception, lock, stock and barrel, please note I'm not saying marriage is a material misconception. But I've always been taught to work my smaller dilemnas out with the congregation, not unload them on my master as much as I feel a need too at times. Generally they are carrying more than enough.

My wife often stresses the need for some objective councilling, when there arises an impasse in the healthy flow of our relationship, to untangle our locked horns.

But we being some of the more senior members in a congregation that we don't have any geographical contact with anyway. We often don't get third party input. And actually in our sanga we are looked up to as seniors for mature guiding relief to the younger couples how to navigate thru the maze of the trials marriage can present. Little do some realize we also need comfort and solace at times to strengthen our faith, resolve and our devotional bonds, to keep serving each other as the servants of the servants of Guru Gauranga and Radha Govinda, and we never cease to need all the help we can muster on this path we chose to share together. As there are always temptations and hurdles thrown up to test our endurance, committment and unconditional vows to each other. When it comes to confession which I've never done formally. As I've never practised Catholicism even tho I came from a strong Catholic background there was never any nectar so to speak in it for a little kid searching for joy. I'm sure it could be a cleansing experience to exorcise some of the ghosts in the closet, and in doing so move one closer to the Truth of who we are, as the anarthas are dissolved from the heart. Whether we need to spill on a priest or work it out with the Lord in our heart is probably a personal choice.

AL:It's a very interesting psychological dynamic. Catholics are told that they are sinners and that all are sinners. Of course we all know that Catholics are also very guilt ridden, but I don't think that they come close to the feelings of guilt and dejection of devotees who fall down. For Catholics there is the sacrament of reconcilliation where they can get spiritual counseling and work with their mentor through the years to improve themselves.

Das:This is definately lacking in the family of devotees to a degree. In a loose social sense maybe it is there, but not in any real formal structure within the temple, perhaps it is a little different in India. Ive only ever noticed it in Gaudiya Vaisnavism thru the example of Sanatan Goswami who councilled all the villagers of Braja in their day to day affairs like a loving father and guardian.

AL:I really feel that we could learn a lot from them in this regard. Opening up the heart and admitting our own faults is so hard, but so necessary if we really want to progress in life.

Das:I feel there are varying degrees we can reveal ourselves to different devotees, but if we are truly open and honest others betrayal of our confidence will be water off a ducks back, still we need to try and find those friends who will never betray our sacred trust. And this will strengthen the mettle and value of our long term relations.

On a completely differnt note, but certainly related to the topics in this thread, Tripurari Maharaja has commented that if a couple is engaged in serving Krsna and helping each other advance in Krsna consciousness there need not be seperation even in advanced age. The purpose of the renounced ashramas is to facilitate increased engagement in Krsna's service, but if that can be achieved through marriage there certainly is no reason to renounce it.

Das:If you are on a roll stick to it!

AL:Personally I think it is quite artificial to think that there is some formula that all devotees should follow. Each of us is unique and have unique living situations which requires different approaches. For some of us it will be best to eventually move into monk life, for others that would be a hindrance rather than a help.

Yes, we have to be aquainted with our real selves, and know where the Lord is directing

us to best serve, so that we may give our all, within or or without the Grhasta asram, but with no regrets. I sympathyze with the poor renunciate who wished, they should have stayed home. There are many in the Grhasta ashram who internally are like sannyasis and vice versa those in the sanyas ashram who are like housholders.

Wherever Maitreya may be, if he sees this, I take the opportunity to wish him the most eventful pilgrimage. I hope he's got a laptop and can give us a roving report on the Holy Dharm. May Guru and gauranga open every door to the sacred sites. Send us all some manah caramrtam.

I may not have faith, but I believe that this is a really important thing to do in life. We're going to die, and we don't always know when.

I think we all know of a couple examples. Am I expected to just be able to out everything down for a few years?? All this crucial knowledge and wisdom??

    Nitai Garanga!!

Just a short follow up to this extended post of yours. What you say about no one knows when the time of death arrives, therefore we should utilize every moment we have in our hand to re-establish our loving relationship with the Lord of our heart. It isn't necessary to put education on hold as it can go hand in hand with development of your Krsna consciousness. All education can be utilized in the service of the Lord and many of our acharyyas, ie teachers by example, were well educated but at the same time nurtured their tendancies towards Krsna consciousness. I know many devotees who dovetail much of their assignments at school to Krsna consciousness helping everyone in their class and sometimes beyond. It isn't recommended to become overly fanatical but if you take the essence of Krsna consciusness

which is to love God and likewise love others to the best of your ability. This will no doubt affect all your friends and contemporaries. At the same time Krsna gives real intelligence and may well help your grades at school.

  10. Dear Sanjay,

Greetings to you and welcome to these forums. As much as some people may discourage you in your quest for Krsna, there are many well-wishers who will encourage and help increase your faith as Audaryya-Lila Prabhu has stressed. Good association is very important in Krsna consciousness. The sabateurs of faith will always be there and there is an art in side stepping them. Recognize them and try to gravitate to those your heart directs you to. In the beginning stages of Krsna consciousness one can go through an offensive transition before we become more tolerant, humble and honourable to others.

Real Krsna consciousness when you study it, you will find that the closer one moves to divinity the further away you may feel, therefore it is not altogether incorrect to feel I have no faith or love for Krsna. But if one is feeling they know Krsna so well, so close to him, and that we are already saved we should exercise a little caution with such sentiments. Our highest teacher's example in the line of Krsna consciousness that we follow through Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, whether it be Chaitanya Himself, Srimati Radharani, Krsna's most beloved or Srila RAghunath das Goswami and Srila Rupa Goswami, all taught that they have no love for Krsna when actually they were fully absorbed in pure unadulterated prema, ie divine love. This is the sign of a genuine vaishnava. No false prestige.

So if you are sincerely wanting your faith to develop full bloom and become a tangible reality in your life, not just another belief system that is temporary, it is recommended to find the company of genuine sadhus, ie sadhu-sanga, from this company bhajana-kriya is increased, which is the process many of us here follow of regularly hearing, chanting and remembering the pastimes of the Lord. From bhajana-kriya comes anartha-nivrtti,where the unwanted bad habits in our life and the undesireable things that plague our heart are eliminated through practicising sadhana bhakti. This leads eventually to getting a sustained unshakeable confidence in the eternal reality of the Lord and an incomparable taste that will make all previous experience pale into insignificance. As one surrenders further unto the will of the Supreme Lord further steps are revealed by His Divine Grace which ultimately leads to pure love and devotion which is truly what this Gaudiya Vaishnavism is all about. There is much wonderful literature to confirm and support your progress along the way. Through the loving connections you make to various devotees of Sri Krsna, you may be referred to many of these writings that will further give joy to your devotional life.

You sound very fortunate at such a young age to have some attraction through your past sukrti ie pious merits, to this life-giving path.

Try not to be deterred or discouraged by any opposition and those who may play the devil's advocate on your path. It just makes it all the more valuable when you overcome these obstacles. I hope you can keep visiting this forum and look forward to your continued contribution. If there is any way we can be of some assistance, please feel free to ask.

Sanjay: Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong. If I could ever one day have the same degree of faith and belief some of you Vaishnava guys have in here one day, that would just be a miracle.

Das: Not necessarily that you are doing anything wrong, it's just in the system of vaishnavism that we try to aspire to, it is generally recommended that for the Holy Name of Krsna to truly blossom in your life that one approach a genuine spiritual teacher who themselves are experiencing Krsna , not whimsically but with sincere submission and enquiry, and from them one can receive the seed of real Krsna consciousness. The nectar of the Name is transferred from one who has it, from master to disciple. As you may be familiar this is called the parampara system where the disciple attains a connection to a line of spiritual saints that Krsna comes to us through, somewhat like your electrical current when your house is connected to the power supply. Through the agents of that company all facilities will start to work so your chanting will have more potency. Sincerity is the key.

    Always at your service

    Mr das

Thank you dearly for your well wishes and likewise we wish you all the best. Gaur Hari
