Well, i think the reason that devotee might chastise you is because you might be genuine but others might immitate. There was an instance once with prabhupad that while singing jai radha madava, he went into a trance. He returned and told everyone to just chant hare krsna. He didnt want people to immitate. We dont want to become some immitation group. Just remember that krsna knows if your tears are genuine or not. Thats all that matters. Hare Krsna Haridham

Wow I remember seeing a story on his group a few years ago. The reporter that went there said she was truly creeped out. I dont know how they can be compared to us. I mean from what I remember, Rajneshes group allows free sex and such they shake in "exstacy" as if in spiritual bliss but they do it on purpose and not out of devotion. I was once told by a disciple of Prabhupad how Prabhupad told them not to go to the classes of sadhus and yogis who come to North America and India. He said that he wasnt sure what Prabhupad ment until two of his(the person i am talking to)god brothers told them about a story a few months later. They attended a bagavat class in india and the class was great. The person who was giving the class was very articulate and not only that he was so in love with the bhagavat that he cried during his class. So after the class they decided they would approach the person who was giving class and get some instruction from him. They followed him backstage and what they found out was that the reason he had tears in eyes and such was because he had put mircha(indian spice, kindaa like chilly) into his nose so the class could have more affect. Hare Krsna, You are preety much way off. We dont have an complexes. The reason these sadhus in hawaii produce such articles is because their lack of knowledge. The fact they call the magazine Hinduism today shows that. In fact the word hindu is never mentioned in the sastras. THese celebrities arent always serious about spiritual life and are searching. Sure Madonna seemingly "used" Iskcon but in actuality its krsna giving her mercy. We know the lifestyle of madona or other celebrities. They just have to be serious. Even if they come to the temple for a second and end up hating the experiance and never come again or tell their friends never to come again they still have benefited from seeing krsna. You should also note that all their fame is by the mercy of krsna. So if they even try to serve krsna for a moment they are more fortunate the fortunate. Even krsna says in the gita that Whatever a great man does, common men will follow. So if a celebrity shows interest in krsna then regular people will also. I know many people that because of the same madonna we all know came to the temple in vancouver after she did her performance on some music awards a few years ago. They still come and Madonna doesnt. Madonna made some devotees. Wether it be knowingly or un knowingly. If you take one step towards krsna, krsna will take ten steps towards you. You are not waisting your time, I think this is krsna's mercy upon you to clarify your doubts and questions. This just challenges us devotees to serve krsna by clarifying things for you. Hare krsna Well this reminds me of a quote from the gita. I mean there is nothing wrong with using fame to serve krsna at all. After all its by krsna's mercy that you attainted such fame. And krsna says in the Gita, Whatever a famous man does, common man follow. So if a celebrity takes an interest to krsna, common people will also take an interest in krsna. Hare Krsna Haridham

Dont give up hope yet. Hanuman said in the Ramayan that "Impossible is only in a fools vocabulary" Just Remember If krsna brings you to it, Krsna will bring you through it. Sanatan Dharma is the proper terminoligy for most of the indian folk, however like Priitha pointed out that there are many religions within the dharma, from Shivaits to everything else. I have been to india many times, I love india. But I know from experiance that many hindus dont consider him god. They think he is one of the hindu gods or some even consider him some historical figure. Many havent read the gita or srimad bagavatam, they have all these boghi yogies claiming to be god by showing them some trick and they will believe it because they havent read the gita or any other vedas. I wasnt out to insult you or "hinduism" but only to say the facts from what i see it. Its Sanatam Dharma that Iskcon is following. It is trying to follow it how it was presented by krsna. See i think People are envious because krsna conscioussness is supported by many famous people. It bugs them ofcourse because they cant stand iskcon or the philosophy so they fault find.

Hare Krsna everyone. Now I think most of the indian crowd might know who Dev Anand is. I am just wondering if anyone saw the movie where he makes fun of the the Hare krsna devotees/mantra. IT goes something like Dum maro dum Mit Jaye Gum Bolo Shuba Sham Hare Krsna Hare Ram THe song means Dum maro dum(its a smoking pot reference, which means while taking a wiff) Mit Jaye Gum(all your troubles will go away) Bolo shuba Sham(say all day and all night) Hare Krsna Hare Ram Now at first I was kinda upset about this, i still kinda am but he probably has no clue what krsna consciousness is because he thought of it like this but atleast he mentioned the MahaMantra which a lot of the indian community probably heard. I dont know anything. I dont have time to read and study the sastras like you fortunate souls. I am learning from people who krsna has given me as a guide. I just dont want to miss any opurtinity. Hare Krsna Prabhu. Well, I know a bit about Boy George. He did a song in the early or mid 90's which was called "bow down mister" It was a catchy song. IT went something like... "from bombay to bangalore, all the hindus know the score, if you want to live some more, hare, hare hare. "Bow down Mister Hare Rama Hare Krsna" The is the Hare Krsna mahamantra in there to. All this is based on faith, I am sure someone who is more qualified can answer your question better then i can. However we dont find these to be just myths. The yamuna and krsna are mentioned in the vedas so we consider them the authorities. Similar with the bible. Hare Krsna Haridham

Well...i think i can start pissing people off more then you if you like, i guess i have to work harder for the award then i thought. lol. Anyways, i am not trying to piss anyone off. You are absolutly right in I should think of the answers on other posts but i dont think I am intelligent or have vedic knowledge to answer them. I would love some back up. Thats how I can learn. What do you think I am serious, every year there should be an award presented to the person that has pissed the most people off. I think thats me. My wife sent me this. I am not sure where she got it. As we are going through an a difficult time, I am glad she is thinking of krsna One day, i woke up early in the morning to watch the sunrise Ah the beaty of God s creation is beyond description . As i watched , i praised God for his beautiful work As i sat there , i felt the lord s presence whit me . -He asked me : do u love me ? "i answered ,of course ,God ! u r my Lord and Savior !" Then he asked , "if u were physically handicapped , would u still love me ? " I was perplexed . i looked down upon my arms , legs and the rest of my body and wondered how many things i wouldnt be able to do , the things that i took for granted . and i answered , "it would be tough Lord , but i would still love u " then the Lord said , "if u were blind , would u stilll love my creation ?" How could i love something whitout being able to see it ? then i thought of all the blind people in the world and how many of them still loved God and his creation . so i answered ,"it s hard to think of it , but i would still love u ". then the Lord asked me , "if u were deaf , would u stilll listen to my words ? " how could i listen to anything being deaf ? then i understand . listening to God s words is not merely using our ears , but ur heart . i answered ,"it would be tough ,but i would still listen to ur words . " then the lord asked , "if u were mute , would u still praise my name ? " how could i praise whit out voice ? then it occured to me :God wants us to sing from ur very heart and soul . it never matters what we sound like . and praising God is not always whit a song , but when we r persecuted , we give God praise whit ur words of thanks . so i answered , "though i could not physically sing , i would still praise ur name . and the Lord asked , "do u really love me ? " whit courage and a strong conviction , i answered boldly , "yes Lord ! i love u because u r the one and true God " i thought i had answered well , but ... God asked , THEN WHY DO U SIN ?" i answered " because im only human , im not perfect ." THEN WHY IN TIMES OF PEACE DO U STRAY THE FURTHEST ? WHY ONLY IN TIMES OF TROUBLE DO U PRAY THE EARNEST ?" no answer.only tears . the Lord continued . "why only sing at fellowship and retreats ? why seek me only in times of worship ? why ask things so selfishly ? why ask things so unfaithfully ? " the tears continued to roll down my cheeks . "why r u ashamed of me ? why r u not spreading the good news ? why in times of persecution , u cry to others when offer mu shoulder to cry on ? why make excuses when i give u opportunities to serve in my name ?" i tied to answered , but there was no answer to give . " u r blessed with life . i made u not to throw this gift away . i have blessed u whit talents to serve me , but u continue to turn away . i have revealed my word to u , but u do not gain in knowledge . i have spoken to u but ur ears were closed . i have shown my blessings to u but ur eyes were turned away i have send u servants , but u sat idly by as they were purshed away i have heard ur prayers and i have answered them all ." DO U TRULY LOVE ME ? i could not answer . how could i ? i was embarrassed beyond belief . i had no excuse . what could i say to this ? when my heart had cried out and the tears had flowed , i said , "please forgive me lord . im unworthy to be ur child " the lord answered ," that is my GRACE , my child ." i asked ,"then why do u love me so ?" the lord answered , "because u r my creation . u r my child . i ll never abandon u . when u cry , i ll have compassionand cry whit u . when u shout whit joy , ill laugh whit u when u r down , i ll encourage u . when u falll , i lll raise u up when u r tired , i ll carry u . i ll be whit u till the end of days , and i ll love u forever ." never had i cried so hard before . how could i have been so cold ? how could i have hurt God a i had done ? i bowed down at the feet of krsna , my savior . and for the first time , i truly prayed . Hare Krsna Well I am glad someone can relate. I know how difficult it can be, even though I am only thinking about it and nothing crazy has happened yet. Its sad that your marriage is on the rocks but do not worry, keep krsna in the centre anyway. Lead by your best example. I dont think you should leave him. Show him what krsna consciousness is by showing the best example. Hopefully he will follow, if not now then a few years from now. hare Krsna Haridham
