as you say they eat too much and also because they sit too much on their lazy butts chowing down on junk food in front of the television.
Look at, for example, Superbowl Sunday, the tradition is to sit all day downing beer, soda, chips, burgers, fries, pizza and whatever else they can cram down their throats.
And then the traditional holiday meal... oh no!!!
In the end, we hear a lot of whining about getting fat blah blah blah.
Duh!!!
The one exception is medical problems.

Kalisantarana Upanisad
“The sixteen names composed of thirty-two syllables are the only means to counteract the evil effects of Kali-yuga. In all the Vedas it is seen that to cross the ocean of nescience, there is no alternative to the chanting of the holy name.”
Chanting of the holy names of Hari is the yuga-dharma (recommended religious process) for kali-yuga. The importance of this chanting cannot be overly stressed. Everyone should chant these holy names as much as possible.
Linga Purana

helaya kali-vardhanam
krtva svarupatam yati

"In our normal activities of eating, sleeping, sitting, dreaming, etc. to chant Krsna's names, while nullify the ill effects of Kali-yuga, is the perfection of speech. Even if a person chants Krsna's names indifferently, he will surely achieve his svarupa, or original spiritual self and attain that state beyond all material fear and lamentation. He will reach Vaikuntha, the supreme goal.
Madhvacharya, quoting Narayana Samhita,
in his Mundakopanisad Bhasya says -

pancaratrais tu kevalam
kalau tu nama-matrena
pujyate bhagavan harih
"In the Dvapara-yuga people should worship Lord Visnu only by the regulative principles of the pancaratra and other such authorized books. In the Age of Kali, however, people should only chant the holy names of the Supreme Personality of Godhead."

are "alone" (never) performing the offerings you turn to the assembled devotees and offer the items - they are there - it is said that when we served the Lord all the denizens of heavens assemble.

put a drop in right hand and discard. put three drops in right and say, " Om Kesavaya namah" and sip the water.
repeat procedure two more times but the second time say the mantra , " Om narayana namah" and the third time say
"Om Madhavaya namah".
Before offering each item you purify the item with several drops of water from the achaman cup and do not put offered items back on the tray with unoffered items.

When I first read the post I read the word as Chauvinist and only after you (gHari) asked about it then I noted it was an Italian word. I must have heard the word when I was in Italy or something and filed it away in the back of this tiny brain somewhere.

You are sensitive right now because your heart is opening up and Maya devi is trying hard to do Her job on you to keep you down. Keep on fighting with the Holy Names and you will win.
When the sunshine of Krsna lights your path you start to see the material world as it truly is. Sometimes we will put up a fight with the help of Maya devi but there is great power in the Supreme Lord's Names!!
