  10. Srimati Radharani's Lotus Feet Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's Lotus Feet Notice the markings of Lord Krsna and Radharani's Lotus Feet are both on Lord Caitanya's Lotus Feet.
  11. eleven auspicious markings decorating the bottom of Krsna's right foot" There is a barleycorn a the base of the big toe, a disc below the barleycorn and an umbrella below the disc. An upcurving line begins in the the middle the foot and ends between the big toe and first toe. At the base of the middle toe is a beautiful lotus flower. Below the lotus is an unfurled flag. Below the little toe is an elephant goad, and a thunderbolt below that. There is an octagon on the heel with four swastikas in the four cardinal directions. One blackberry fruit is situated between each of the four swastikas. "I meditate upon the eight auspicious markings beautifying the bottom of Krsna's left foot." A conchshell lies a the base of the big toe. Two concentric circles are found below His middle toe, and an unstrung bow sits below these circles. Below the bow is the hoof print of a cow. Below this is a triangle surrounded by four water pots. Below the triangle is a half-moon, and a fish rests on the heel. May our minds immerse themselves in remembering the nineteen auspicious marks beautifying the lotus feet of Sri Krsna. "Simply by meditating on Krsna's lotus feet, one attains all spiritual and material wealth, fortune, beauty and good qualities. These feet are the abode of all pastimes. May Krsna's lotus feet be our everything." (Govinda-lilamrta ch.16)
  12. oh yeh, I thought about it.....once.
  13. Film on widows brings Vrindavan to boil Thursday, 25 March , 2004, 20:39 An unholy storm could be brewing in the holy city of Vrindavan. A film on the plight of widows, reportedly starring Raveena Tandon, has local religious leaders up in arms. While American-Indians Linda and Dharan Mandrayar, and Hannah Kirby of San Diego, California, hope the world will see, care about and act on the film titled 'White Rainbow', the 'pandas' (holy order) of Vrindavan are having none of it. They are dead set against outsiders coming down to shoot in their midst. According to previously published reports, the subject first caught Dharan's attention when his son read a novel about a 13-year-old widow banished to Vrindavan. The filmmaker, whose own mother was never mistreated as a widow, didn't quite believe all that he read. However after visiting Vrindavan and ascertaining the truth for himself, he knew he had to act. "I saw widows in really miserable conditions," he said. "There's no joy in their singing. They're real mournful. They were in poor health and not well kept. Everything we read and heard about seemed to be true in worse ways than we imagined," Dharan was quoted as saying in the San Diego Union Tribune. It's a critique that doesn't go down well with the 'Pandas'. Just as their brethren in Varanasi ensured that the previous attempt at filming the life of widows in Mira Nair's 'Water' came to naught, they are determined to scuttle the Americans too. "These foreigners mint money by displaying the weaknesses of our society. While I agree that all is not well in Vrindavan, that doesn't mean we will hold it up for the world to see. After all filmmakers have no other intention than to exploit the traditional ills in this country and sell it abroad. If they are really concerned about the condition of the widows, let them do something to restore them to a life of dignity and honour. Making films is hardly going to solve the problem," says Jai Kant Shashtri, a priest and staunch follower of the Hindu Dharma. Other high-profile spiritual leaders like Brajeshwara Diwedi are fuming as well. According to him the widows of Vrindavan are only following what is laid down in the scriptures and no one has the right to interfere. "The Dharma Grantha says women who have lost their husbands should lead a life free from all luxuries and devote themselves to the service of the Almighty. This is exactly what they are doing. We will oppose any foreign company that tries to make a film on the life of widows in Vrindavan," Diwedi warns. Local residents also feel that no Indian actress should agree to play the role of Priya, an educated and affluent widow who flees to Vrindavan to escape her in-laws and there teaches others to fight for their rights. "Anyone who accepts would be doing grave injustice to their own culture and traditions. No amount of money is worth getting exploited for," says Pt. Hare Krishna Sharma. Are you listening Tandon? 14. isn't amazing how rapidly we are sinking into the dark depths of Kali yuga?
  15. No we need to run as fast as we can - loudly chanting the Lord's names!! Television is an extreme disturbance to the mind - look at all it portrays - sex, violence, drinking, on and on. How can the mind stay undisturbed when distrubing scenes are being thrown into our eyes at lightning speed. Think about it...you want to try to follow the four regs right? Ok....how easy is that when scenes of naked and half naked people are being shown even in commercials? Sex and violence are the staples of television. Even children's shows have McDonald's commericals!!! Violence! My television now sits totally idle until I pop in one of my Krishna films or dvds. You feel the urge to turn on the tube....pick up your beads instead.
  16. I am very happy to hear that Their Lordships have arrived at your house...now it is Their Home!!! Hare Krsna. OH no not bad luck at all!!! This was the Lord's causeless and limitless mercy to have this happen...as soon as you opened the box you saw this and of course it made you sad...this makes you think about Them and it makes you talk about Them. And They have given you the service already of finding the new eye and replacing it on His Lotus face!!! what a personal service....you are blessed!!! Because of this incident with the eye you have developed feelings of compassion and love for Them....think about it. And....They have helped you to engage others in Their service (the temple president getting the replacement for you: the person who he gets the eye from and on and on...) All glories to our most merciful Lords!
  17. there is a soul. Otherwise, it is a dead body. This reminds me of the people who believe that animals have not souls....just what is it that animates their bodies then...energizer batteries?
  18. some steaming water in a bowl. Put a towel over your head and put your face over the steam (not too close - do not want to burn). Clears out everything...and if this is an issue clears and cleans the facial skin very nicely.
  19. you should get your mum to make one bigger so she can get in the Guinness Book of World Records and get her picture on the internet. BTW, I hear it was fried hence, not a chapati but a puri - either way - whoa baby, it is big!!
  20. on VNN. There was a picture of it and wanted to see if it is the one you saw in India. I also need it to show my friend as I am having difficulty explaining it to him.
  21. is what also happened to me when I saw the colors of that cloud and then to see more in the evening!! Can't be described in words and I don't think it could even be captured in a picture or painting.
  22. Ive never seen a black man, Ive never seen a white man," Very confusing indeed....reminds me of that crayon on the color box named "Flesh" - I never saw "flesh" that color!!!
  23. is all of these and more. "lotus flower with petals tinted blue and white blackish dark blue like a tamala tree" Krsna is unlimited and no words could ever describe His wonderous beauty. He even came to Radha, at the suggestion of Vrnda devi, one day as a golden Sannaysi when She was angry with Him and would not speak to Him. Radha's heart softened and the Lord once again took His beautiful blackish blue form and color. A month of so ago I was looking out my back window while chanting and I looked up at the clouds and saw this perfect blackish blue cloud with a hint of white and I thought, "That's it!! That is the color of Krsna!!" Then that evening I looked out to see more clouds of the same color with streaks of red behind them as the sun set - ahhh...the red of Krsna's lotus palms and soles, the red around His eyes, and His lotus mouth!! Hare Krsna
