uttama-bhagavata is an impersonalist?
Haridasdasdas replied to Gadadhara dasa (rus)'s topic in Spiritual Discussions
Wow what an explanation. -
It seems kind of pointless when we have the same number of men and women. I don't know, but I've always imagined that the point of polygamy was mainly because of there being less men than women(wars etc), and the women needing protection. I suppose nowadays it is mostly greedy men who are interested in polygamy.

Alternatively, rent Indiana Jones. If you wish to denigrate your religion further, you may wish to try human sacrifice, which after The Temple of Doom, you should be at least vaguely familiar with.

First of all, learn English. Killing in a war is not murder. That is not opinion, that is the Oxford English Dictionary. Maybe you should get a proper education. Second of all, when people people refute your arguments, as they have, do not ignore their arguments, pretending they said nothing. Either make a counter argument or admit you have been defeated. Don't just bicker as a child. If you cannot do any of these things, then you shouldn't waste your time in conversation.

Raw Food for Higher Consciousness
Haridasdasdas replied to recycledsoul's topic in Ayurveda, Health and Wellbeing
So you dont eat 100% raw foods? How expensive is it to buy sprouted pulses and grains? I've never seen them on sale, it sounds like it could be pricey. -
I agree with you! YAY! :D:)

I think perhaps my only real concern with Iskcon is that often they miss the big picture. And yes, there are morning prayers in Iskcon, there are two each morning at every temple. My personal views. 1) Siva is not a demigod, he is Visnu Tattva, A swami explained this to me and I have read it for myself. However, devotees don't like to overload newcomers, and it's a simple explanation for people who are new to these ideas. 2) As far as I am concerned, it's a matter of giving association rather than taking it, and this is a personal matter. I have non-devotee friends, I read classic literature and philosophy from time to time. Oh, and occaisionally I like movies and some TV programmes. It's all about influence. Who is influencing you? That's all there is to it as far as I am concerned. These rules spring from a time when not associating with non-gaudiyas was relatively easy for many. Most devotees have association of others. Movies and TV are maya. I am in Maya. I regularly go to Mayaholics anonymous. 3) Gambling is driven by greed, if it is a tiny bit of gambling, it is a tiny bit of greed. It's not a spiritual activity, and this is why it is also banned in Christianity. 4)I don't think it is realistic to expect everyone to follow this. Sex outside of procreation is not Krishna Conscious, but I don't beleive that everyone can live this way (and most dont) every hour, and that within marriages allowances must be made, and people need to be hoenst with themselves. Any married couple who can practise celibacy are defiantely saintly people. 5) I don't know very many people, outside of those living in and around temples, who never eat foods cooked by nondevotees. 6) There is no such rule. Also, Iskcon/Gaudiya Math do nto liek to think of themselves as 'Hindus'. 5(again) Becoming Krishna Conscious is the solution, chanting is a means. 6(again) This is subjective really. Not a resolvable argument either way. Then again, when was your last Surya Yajna? I think this is another example of the cart being put before the horse. The point is not how your hair is cut, the point is to be Krishna Conscious, and people lose sight of that in a myriad of regulations.

Haridasdasdas replied to GODSEED's topic in The Hinduism Forum
This is a picture of Caitanya Mahaprabhu. A very famous pose, in which He has been painted for as long as people have been painting Him. It wouldn't be hard to turn this into a picture of Kripalu Maharaj, if his dhoti was saffron (Caitanya shaved his head when he took sannyasa) and his face was a bit different. I have seen this picture recreated as Kripalu Maharaj. I mean to say it was painted in the exact same way as this famous painting of Caitanya, and when I first saw it, I thought it was Caitanya(since pictures of Nimbarkacarya, Madhva et al were on the page). If i remember correctly, Kripalu was not painted with a saffron dhoti, which makes me more suspicious. Kripalu has also been referred to as 'MahaPrabhu'. To me that soudns like someone who is either comparing themselves to Caitanya, or allowing others to compare them to Caitanya. This seems not only unneccessary but also very insensitive. You will note that another poster has seen the same picture and agreed with this sentiment. I have not been able to find this picture online, and neither have I been able to find any photos of Kripalu Maharaj standing in this manner. Perhaps you can appreciate that a person in the age of Kali will naturally be suspicious of any claimed 'avatar', since there are so many, and often they are not reputable people. Other than that, I can appreciate the universality of the message of Bhakti, and I said myself that I had no basis for making allegationsof Primus Noctus on, other than hearsay. I did not bring up the subject of the rape allegation (I don't beleive it's true). -

Which is why I try not to align myself with Iskcon. I completely agree with you on this point, let's not forget that most/all of the Pancha tattva had long hair at some point or another, and it has nothing to do with being an avatar. -

You guess wrong. Constantly every post you make is an attempt to belittle the intelligence of the poster you disagree with. What kind of Yogi does that? I have questions, things I have seen and rumours that I heard. I stated nothing as fact that I did not know for certain. Despite this, you are thoroughly incapable of entering debate without simply suggesting that the other party is 'not thinking' 'misunderstanding' etc. -

Haridasdasdas replied to esagarmatha's topic in The Hinduism Forum
Yea, but Gaudiyas beleive that Siva is the expansion of Narayana. Don't start a Siva Vs Visnu argument, it's unresolvable, which is why there is an argument. Has it not occurred to you that there are supposed to be both Vaisnavas and Saivaites? Is it not obvious? -

Yes, now you need to provide some evidence that this is a good source. I mean, just about any evidence other than the fact it has 'Purana' on the cover(if it is even published). -

It's because I don't underestimate the absolute stupidity, arrogance, deceitfulness, and egotism which men are capable of. You still have not found a person of note who accepts this Purana. The burden of proof is upon you, as you are the one quoting it. -

First of all, it wasn't a photo, as I previously stated. It was a drawing, and I beleive it's only found on their large leaflet. Another poster agreed with me, havign seen it. I can find no photographs of Kripalu Maharaj in that posture. You have not seen this picture sadly, so we will have to stop talking about it. Can you find problems with Iskcon gurus? That doesn't bother me. Do you know what a straw man argument is? Perhaps you should look it up. I talked about the first night of marriage, and you refer to rape allegations which were never proved. This was not what I was referring to. Anyway, I haven't found any evidence other than a lot of conjecture and rumour, so I will leave it there. -
That's an intersting idea, that 'reform' is merely showing it in a different way. I'll say one thing though. Catholics don't refer to statues of the virgin Mary as 'Idols'. Also, I cannot imagine any Christian referring to their beleifs as 'mythology'. These are derogatary terms that have been forced into the english language of Indians, since as far as I am aware, before 1947 most English teachers in India were English. I'd say these words don't help you in any way.

Yea, I'm so silly for not accepting a scripture about Queen Victoria and Adam. Maybe there once was a Bhavishya Purana that was real, but do you really beleive that VedaVyasa wrote about these things? Can you find anyone who supports this Purana? Anyone at all? If you can't, then I say it isn't a reputable scripture. -

I'm not the one using it as an argument, sant is, therefore the burden of proof is upon him. That's how a debate works. -

I don't doubt that at all, you have to stop assuming everyone is rational and sane, because they aren't. On topic though, I never heard anything about rape, this trial is a separate incident unrelated, a straw man argument from Sant. I also doubt that the Maharaj would be fit and able to be bedding women at 85 though. -

Get soem consistency. Not only is it a concoction, but the english is terrible, no wonder it only lives on the internet. -

Haridasdasdas replied to pradeepkumar.meerut@gmail.com's topic in Spiritual Discussions
The quality of english is terrible, and who is Adam? Adam is an anglicised hebrew name from the old testament, it isn't sanskrit. As far as I'm aware, there is no sampradaya that follows all puranas, since there are different ones that say different things, and not everyone thinks that every purana has come from a proper source. Ie there's one of them that mentions Queen Victoria and Mohammed. -

Yea my friend stayed in his Asram and says that he sleeps with his disciples wives on the first night of their marriage, and gives them back as 'prasadam'. I don't know if that is true though.
