His heart is the center of his being; his lungs hold the breath of life. The ribcage will allow itself to be broken before it will allow damage to the heart. Support man as the rib cage supports the body. You were not taken from his feet, to be under him, nor were you taken from his head, to above him. You were taken from his side, to stand beside him and be held close to his side. You are my perfect angel.....You are my beautiful little girl. You have grown to be a splendid woman of excellence, and my eyes fill when I see the virtues in your heart. Your eyes......don’t change them. Your lips, how lovely when they part in prayer. Your nose, so perfect in form. Your hands so gentle to touch. I’ve caressed your face in your deepest sleep. I’ve held your heart close to mine. Of all that lives and breathes, you are most like me. Eternal Marriage On their way to a justice of the peace to get married, a couple has a fatal car accident. The couple is sitting outside heaven's gate waiting on St.Peter to do an intake. While waiting, they wonder if they could possibly get married in Heaven. St. Peter finally shows up and they ask him. St. Peter says, "I don't know, this is the first time anyone has ever asked. Let me go find out," and he leaves. The couple sits for a couple of months and begin to wonder if they really should get married in Heaven, what with the eternal aspect of it all. God Bless Everyone! Dear Shiva, Thanks so much for your message. Personally, I learned much lessons from it. Just want to add from a woman’s point of view. Gopaldas Prabhu, you wrote: What should the husband do when the wife looses all respect for him ??? Ideally, a husband “MUST love his wife (being in a sense) his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband--that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates and esteems him; and that she defers to him, praises him and loves and admires him exceedingly" (Ephesians 5: 25-33). In this verse we see that the union between man and woman is a portrayal of the divine romance between God and His devotees. The only reason man and woman are attracted to each other and desire to build a life together, is because this principal is true in a spiritual sense. The natural realm is an illustration of the spiritual realm, and all spiritual truths existed long before the natural ones were manifested. In the same that way men and women seek each other to become one, so our spirits are also seeking oneness with God----and He with us. However, once these manifestations will turn upside down, and the head of the family is the one who breached the sanctity of union, there is really a major problem/effect to the family, especially with the wife. A woman/wife in general is very emotional and romantic at the same time. We are easily, deeply touched and wounded by our love for the person closest to us. However, a spiritually realized woman or wife knew that there is no such person as an absolute pure devotee or a “perfect husband”(except for Christ and Krishna) especially in this kali-yuga age. Yet, because we are willing to risk our very heart for the sake of love, so we must be willing to take that risk as well. Note however, that I am speaking to a union that is bounded with love and commitment not just because of duties (this is especially for an arranged marriage). However, our commitment and love to our husband fulfill us to the extent that we use and understand it properly--and we cannot know true love unless we know God and when we face a greater challenge within our marriage/ or within in a mere girlfriend – boyfriend relationship. So, when we find out the pure and admired devotee husband is after all not the real one? What this husband is going to do? well -------------RUN!!!! and HIDE!!! Hehehehhe just kidding. Personally, I can say that this is not supposed to mean you will back off. Why not try to court her again? Ask sincerely, heart to heart. Even your wife can’t detect if you are now telling the truth, God is looking into your heart. Basically, women tend to be impulsive at first, but I don’t believe that she will lose “all” her respect to her husband. She is hurting, and once she is hurt, she is broken, and her logical mind is not working so well. Try to give her a space, but at the same time, let her see that you are really changing for the better. Love is still present even after the hurting. And if prior to the “crime” you commit to her you had developed a strong bond with her, she could easily see the strong points from you. She will then weight your fault and your kindness with her: your love, your affection, your good deeds…etc. When our love for our husband is true, basically, it includes loving him more than ourselves, thinking of his welfare, honoring him, FORGIVING him, wanting the best for him, etc. Furthermore, this is to be a way of life--not an occasional mood, when we are feeling benevolent towards the world! And this is the essence of entering into a married life. When these two souls become one body through marriage, there is then a shared responsibility: If one falleth, the other should lift him/her up. And if we only see our wife or husband as the extension of Krishna, we will never do anything to hurt him/her, because hurting him/her is only hurting our own self and God. “For no man ever hated his own flesh but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it.” We all are just trying hard to be the best we can in front of the Lord, and a marriage life in not a bed of roses after all, it will be the effort of these two people to save and make it prosper. Honestly, it’s better said than done, so prayer must play a major part too. Well, I am not married yet, and I am just speaking to what I feel, observed, and learned from my parents and married friends. But to those who are recently married, the ones who have been married, the soon to get married, and the ones who are still looking - Let us pray to the Lord to bless us become the best person/wife/husband as what He wants us to be. God is ever willing to help us! The scriptures said: "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13: 13). God Bless!!! Myra.

I received a copy of our weekly Asia-Pacific Economic Monitor publication from our Department's Chief Economist. Here's the fate of the so called "The Greatest Nation of the World"!!!: -Bush looks for help from abroad- Sydney, Sep 5: The week just passed has seen something of a sea-change in Washington: President Bush’s administration appears to have finally woken up to the nasty fact that it cannot afford—politically or financially—to run the world on its own, as apparently it would like to. Not only has it grudgingly agreed to go back to the spurned UN for help in Iraq, but the week also saw Treasury Secretary Snow petitioning the mandarins in Beijing and Tokyo for help in cutting the US trade deficit. Progress on North Korea, what little there has been, has come only thanks to strong Chinese pressure on its wacky neighbour and erstwhile ally. The sudden about face, coinciding with the end of the summer holidays, reflects a renewed focus on the election, only just over a year away, and the fact that it is now very much Bush’s to lose. Mounting body-bags from Iraq are one part of the nightmare, disappearing jobs (expect much wailing and gnashing of teeth if non-farm payrolls for August fall) and record current account and budget deficits are another. Bush suddenly realises he needs some help from other countries, partly so he can spread the blame if conditions worsen, but also to cut the serious costs of his foreign adventures, if he is not to be the second one-hit wonder in his family. Whether that help will be forthcoming is the main question. In the case of Japan and China letting their currencies strengthen, the answer was very clearly no. China’s central bank chief told Snow that the US needs to lift its export game to cut the trade deficit, and that the yuan will be revalued sometime in the future (but most likely not before the US election). And Japan, relying on a stuttering export-led recovery to jumpstart the economy (which seems ultimately doomed to fail thanks to the lack of restructuring and reforms over the past twelve years), is not about to abandon its defence of the yen, as Friday’s bout of intervention rudely reminded Snow as he took the revaluation message to the APEC finance minister’s meeting. As with Japan, most countries in the region are facing weak domestic demand and exports are seen as the way back to growth. To that extent, regional central banks are expected to continue fighting the dollar’s downtrend as much as they can—apart from the Philippines, which still sees a strong currency as something desirable in and of itself. Snow should be at least half-relieved that Asian countries did not respond with alacrity to his urgings: having financed about half of America’s current account deficit between them this year, the Bank of Japan and the People’s Bank of China are in turn helping keep long-term US rates lower than they would otherwise be as they park their dollars in US treasuries. Stopping that intervention would mean the private sector would be called upon to finance America’s savings shortfall—and it would be sure to demand higher returns to compensate. Higher interest rates would make the hoped-for recovery in employment less likely, and could stop the property market (and by extension, consumer spending to at least some degree) in its tracks. This is not a happy pre-election scenario. Meanwhile, Washington looks unlikely to get the sort of help it wants for Iraq, namely, other countries’ soldiers under US command. After having dismissed the Security Council as largely irrelevant to its needs in the runup to the war, its ‘willingness’ to allow the UN back in, while still calling the shots, might strike some on the Council as hubristic in the extreme. France and German (and Russia to a lesser degree) are the chief sticking points for a new resolution given their desire that any UN force would be under UN, not American, auspices. And although it is obviously in no country’s interests to see the mission in Iraq fail, leaving turmoil in its wake, they are unlikely to be too willing to give Bush all that he wants. The likely scenario is the current draft fails to pass, the US muddles on for a while and then tries again, this time offering more control in return for other countries’ military and financial participation. It is in this muddling period where the danger lies if the US cannot restore effective security to Iraq. And all while Afghanistan is providing a case study in how not to wrap up a ‘regime change’ mission. The resurgence of the Taliban in areas of the country and the renewed troubles between Pakistan and India, that are at least partly fuelled by intransigent elements unwilling to support Pakistan’s support of the US-led war on terror, show how dangerous it is to leave a power vacuum behind after regime change. The worst scenario now would be for the administration, with two eyes on next November’s election, to try to exit Iraq without having secured the peace. These are the issues that might even be disturbing Bush’s sleep. For the markets, these are long-term issues that may not affect this week’s trading overly, but it would seem to us that the two main factors to be gleaned from this are that the US economy is more likely to disappoint in the second half of this year (the output gap continues to widen, ratcheting up deflationary pressure) and that winning that election will be the number one driver of US policy in the next fourteen months. Looking to this week, there are few major numbers in the US, with July trade data on Thursday and August retail sales on Friday the most important. Markets will be looking to the FOMC meeting on September 16th, but there appear to be no grounds whatsoever for a policy change at present. Recent data from the US have been reasonably positive, but the surprise should be that the numbers have not been stronger following the biggest monetary and fiscal expansion in history. The path of the US since the IT-led meltdown in 2001 is cleaving ever closer to that of Japan in the wake of its bubble’s bursting back in 1989. It was autumn, and the Indians on the remote reservation asked their new Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was an Indian Chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets, and when he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the weather was going to be. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect wood to be prepared. But also being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, "Is the coming winter going to be cold?It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed," the meteorologist at the weather service responded. So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more wood in order to be prepared. One week later he called the National Weather Service again. "Is it going to be a very cold winter?Yes," the man at National Weather Service again replied, "it's going to be a very cold winter." The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of wood they could find. Two weeks later he called the National Weather Service again. Yes, I understand your point regarding the situation in the past of Indian culture wherein couples get married out of pleasing their parents and not for the reason of love. On the other hand, you also mentioned that: "Is it necessary now? Yes and no, with the free intermingling of men and women it is 'easier' to find a 'good' mate. (note my quotes)". Then you point that "Astrology doesn't give an advantage on someone." Therefore, "with the free intermingling of men and women it is 'easier' to find a good mate", or good mates. So the astrology will sink in. Among these problabe and eligible men and women, with astrology will help you determine, who's who. And it's an advantage to you. Since Astrology has the limitatiosn, why still check the chart? The Paramatma will help us to know who is that person God want us to be. That small voice inside you will tell you if that person is the One. The first time, I saw my God's gift from afar, though he's facing back, I knew him, I can feel him and something is telling me "Yes, that's him". Well, no one can't fully comprehend what TRUE LOVE is. But, I believe, that once we are in God's presence, we are also sharing or becoming the extension of this origin of True Love which is God/Father/Krishna. Haridham... Sorry, I am not there in your place to spread good things about your wife to counter act the bad rumors that roaming around! /images/graemlins/smile.gif But I hope I make sense here. I believe that life is a matter of choice. God gives us opportunities which he thinks will be of use to us that will help us. Whether, it’s our personal choice and not His choice for us, Krishna will not forsake us. (Sometimes we are stubborn to follow what we want or what the society expects or wants for us, not what Krishna wants from us). Yet, He will always help up make things well. Then it’s up to us if we will grab it, or simply let it pass away. That’s choice. God allowed the two of you to meet. Then it’s up to you if you want to stay together ... or let go ... I can sense that you’re hurting with the current situation, from the people around you, your parent’s intervention, financial matter or because of your decision. I know how sensitive you are, (for I am also toooo sensitive) and how impulsive we can be ... Please don’t ever decide on things (especially on BIG things) when you’re emotionally confused. What you are dealing about is your relationship with your wife, which I believe is also the reflection of your relationship with Krishna. This is marriage, it is a lifetime commitment. Your decision on this matter can either make or break your life (and your wife’s life as well). Don’t give up simply because you think the relationship goes badly. There are so many things to consider. First among these is how you really feel for each other – be it LOVE, AFFECTION, COMPASSION, CONCERN, whatever you call/define it, consider the intensity. Is it that shallow that you can simply give it up? Also, you need to trust your wife and your relationship. I suppose that you already know her inside out before marrying here. Yet, The elders say also that marriage is like a school that we will learn more from each other and walk hand in hand going to the God Head. Secondly, consider your priorities. Are the expectations of the people around more important to you? What is it that you really want to do now? What do you want to do with your life? Third, think of happiness, contentment, peace of mind... How does your wife contribute to these things in your life? Is she a major source of these things for you? Or can someone/something else be a better reason for you to achieve such? Do the people around you can give the these things that your wife can offer? There are so many things to consider ... I know you want things to be really in order, to be totally ready, to be acceptable by your family and society. But I tell you, if you only looked at the darker side of your relationship and want to wait for everything – absolutely everything to be cleared – I am pretty sure you will never begin ... All it needs is will power from both of you to say your vows and make it work! To prove that.. well...the rumors are not true. I don’t know if I am getting across you, dear... I hope I make sense here. I don’t know much about this marriage stuff --- I’ve never been married yet!(God willing I'll be soon) And If you’re still confused, the best thing to do is talk (sincerely talk) with your wife. Nobody else has the final say in your relationship ... It’s solely between the two of you ... I suggest, PRAY/CHANT really hard/more ... It helps! Also, talk heart to heart to your parents, tell them that you are hurt with their decision, intervention and if they could help you practically instead of giving you pressure.
