Japa Workshop: Tips On How to Chant with More Attention
Guruvani replied to suchandra's topic in Spiritual Discussions
How true. Love of God is exactly proportional to our love for chanting the Maha-mantra. Love of God is love of nama-bhajan. -
Naga Darshan at Bhaktivedanta Ashram on Naga Panchami
Guruvani replied to Jahnava Nitai Das's topic in Spiritual Discussions
I really envy those devotees who get to stay in India. India is the place. I have always wanted to stay in India, but I haven't been that fortunate. While some dream of going back to Godhead, I simply dream of taking an auspicious birth in India. To take birth as an Indian sage is the envy of the demigods. Few get that great opportunity. -
I would imagine that there will be a next time.

But Fall is so nice! Winter gets colder than you might think, but it doesn't start until about the second week of December. Fall.................. so nice! Hey, I have been to Hawaii a few times and after a rain the place is as humid as anything. The temple is sweet isn't it? Hope you can meet Balavanta and some nice devotees here.

I don't see any reason that the forum members should get all hot and bothered about the topic of polygamy. Polygamy is absolutely not a major issue in the KC movement and is simply a topic that distracts attention away from the real issues facing the KC movement. Let's talk about something that matters. Polygamy is one of the most useless and irrelevant topics I have seen in a while. who gives a crap about what fringey householders do? Let's discuss siddhanta and philosophy. These social issues that are irrelevant are just dry, useless discussions.

The argument and debate about the war with the Godbrothers of Srila Prabhupada is so tired and abused that it simply doesn't deserve any attention of the forums anymore. Many of us have been through this debate and discussion ad nauseum for the last few years and it is just chewing the chewed over and over again. After 35 years and the breakdown of ISKCON the argument just doesn't have any relevance anymore. Maybe Admin can create a section of the forum entitled "Chewing the chewed" for such discussion?

Naga Darshan at Bhaktivedanta Ashram on Naga Panchami
Guruvani replied to Jahnava Nitai Das's topic in Spiritual Discussions
It has always mesmerized me that the jewels on the heads of the Naga are the Suns that illuminate the subterranean realm. I have to confess that the subterranean realm fascinates me too much. -
Naga Darshan at Bhaktivedanta Ashram on Naga Panchami

But, if a Vaishnava has a temple in a part of India where Nagas are considered holy, then as a preaching device he might play off of the Naga legend for the purpose of attracting Naga worshipers to the movement of Mahaprabhu - The Golden Avatar. That is very wise and very pragmatic and I find no fault in that. -

Guruvani replied to Jahnava Nitai Das's topic in Spiritual Discussions
I don't agree that they are "divine and spiritual". The story is that they are from another planet. The Serpentine beings come from the subterranean heavens. Lord Siva himself has a planet in the Subterranean realm. That planet is Vitalaloka. The Nagas have been rated as an asura species in Srimad Bhagavatam. So, I am not of the school that Nagas are "divine and spiritual" beings. -

I haven't advocated for either one. But, if a man gets left to raise children without a wife then I don't see what is his fault if he tried to find another wife to help him with his family and his home. At least serial monogamy is legal. One of the points against polygamy that Srila Prabhupada was making was that it is illegal. If polygamy was legal around the world then I doubt that Srila Prabhupada would have been so against it. You can't dump all the blame on broken marriages on the man either. Many women are destroying marriages as well. If a sincere man loses his wife due to no fault of his own then I don't see anything wrong with him finding another wife if he wants one. Otherwise, there would be a big spike in prostitution if men were not allowed to marry again after losing wife.

but we have recorded and documented proof that the 11 ritviks went to Sridhar Maharaja and lied to him and said that Srila Prabhupada appointed them to be diksha gurus. Srila Prabhupada advised his senior disciples to consult Sridhar Maharaja on philosophical issues after his passing. But, they went to Sridhar Maharaja and lied, so you can't blame Sridhar Maharaja for dealing with matters based upon the false information he was given.
-
Well, the ISKCON leadership did the same thing after the passing of Srila Prabhupada, so whatever blame you put on the Gaudiya Matha then that same blame goes on the ISKCON gurus and GBC. No ISKCON leader has any right to fault the Gaudiya Matha because they all did the same thing that they are accusing the Gaudiya Matha of.

That doesn't mean anything to me. There are already millions of Vaishnavas in India. The USA once had a thriving KC movement that has been reduced down to a laughing stock at the hands of the ISKCON leaders. You can build a big fancy temple in India and get thousands of Hindus to come. That is no major accomplishment. In the USA, ISKCON temples are closing, or dwindling down into pathetic skeletons of their former selves. The test is what kind of success ISKCON can have in the USA. At this point in time, ISKCON has been reduced to a mess and shows all the weaknesses and faults of the failed ISKCON leadership.

Personally, I don't see that the threat of polygamy or the lack thereof is any serious issue surrounding the KC movement. I fail to see why the topic is so contentious as it doesn't affect anyone in the KC movement that I know of. Polygamy probably lost credibility about the same time that Varnashrama society of Bharata varsha became asura varnashrama - caste by birth alone. Not only does it take a qualified man to practice polygamy but it takes qualified women which in this age I doubt there are any women qualified to be the wife of a polygamist.

That sounds like you spiritually woke up while you were sleeping and then materially woke up while you were spiritually awake and went spiritually back to sleep when you materially woke up.

ISKCON was devastated by his leading disciples not his Godbrothers, so you can stop with the mis-information campaign already. Once ISKCON gets shattered by the leading devotees the whole argument against the Godbrothers of Srila Prabhupada has no meaning anymore. ISKCON was already destroyed by ISKCON members so there is nothing left for the Godbrothers of Srila Prabhupada to harm. Besides that, in his last days, Srila Prabhupada said the war with his Godbrothers is over. If you want to keep the war alive then that goes against the will of Srila Prabhupada and is a false campaign. Once the members of ISKCON get done feeding on the carcass of a dead ISKCON like a pack of Lions, then what is the harm if some vultures get some leftovers?

I don't see what difference that makes. One's birth is only the deciding criteria in asura-varnashrama of the caste brahmans. If a person is raised as Muslim, educated a Musim and fed like a Muslim, then whatever his Hindu birth does not make any tangible difference. For all practical purposes Haridas was a Muslim. I have never heard the story before about him being born in a brahman family, but even if it is true I don't see what difference that makes. As well, the brahman family could have as well just been brahman in the asura varanasrama of caste by birth. I don't see how the story of Haridas taking birth in a Hindu family really makes that much difference. But, as best I can recall the boys over at the siddha-pranali forum were claiming that Haridas did get diksha. So, it depends on who you want to believe I guess. The way I heard it was that Haridas was "admitted" into Vaishnavism by Sri Advaita Acharya. I need to try and find that reference. I think I saw that in CC by Srila Prabhupada. Ultimately, whether one is formally initiated or simply admitted into Vaishnavism by a Vaishnava the results will be the same for the serious practitioner.

There is no pleasure for the Vaishnava to debate the Advaitin. Agree to disagree and go seperate ways. That's about it.

Naga Darshan at Bhaktivedanta Ashram on Naga Panchami

Nectar is poison to some, so you can't please all the people all the time. The Vedas are refering to poisonous creatures, not people who don't buy into organized aparadha. -

But, if the snake doesn't have to be killed and goes away, then that seems to me like a better result. Poison givers are one of the invaders that are authorized by Vedic injunction to be killed. Killing snakes is not forbidden in Vedic culture. In many parts of the world snakes are killed and eaten for food. -

There is a story about a cobra that entered a Gaudiya Matha temple and Srila Saraswati Thakur orderd the brahmacaries there to take a stick and kill it. -

It's like crying over spilled milk. Once the milk is spilled no amount of whining is going to save the milk. This old refrain about the Godbrothers of Srila Prabhupada gets nauseating after hearing the same damn crap for 35 years. Jesus freaking Christ......................... this crap is enough to make a person sick. The Hare Krishna movement has become an insane asylum. Blaspheming Vaishnavas has now become "bona fide".
