  1. the self is the only truth...

Anything other than the self which involves the concept of self and any other concept like time and space is maya... for time and distance are the roots of maya...they are the pegs which hold maya in place

  2. mythology is the basic building block of civilisation...

it is thru mythology that civilizations impart the sense of right and wrong to the next generations...

some of the parameters change over time and yet mythology continues inducting new children into the old civilization...

  3. As u are a shiva bhakt and desirous of peace and calming effect in your inner self... imagine shiva as a yogiraj... sitting calmly in a yogic mudra with his eyes shut... (or have a picture or idol of the same form of shiva).... and say.... Om shiva . shanti shiva.

say om shiva with breath going out and say shanti shiva with incoming breath and imagine shivas peace filling u...

    Hari bol

  4. Well buddha was a kshatriya prince before he became buddha so it must be true that he ate meat... also there is one tale regarding his passing away which involves a meat preparation

"In the Mahaparinibbana Sutta, we are told that the Buddha became ill suddenly after he ate a special delicacy, Sukaramaddava, literally translated as "soft pork", which had been prepared by his generous host, Cunda Kammaraputta."

  5. well jainism buddhism and sikhism are offshoots of hinduim...

just as christianity and islam are offshoots of judaism...

and when a offshoot believes it is different from the parent there is nothing the parent can do but agree.

the animosity betwen buddhism and hinduism is a remenant of the politics which happened around the period of Adi Shankaracharya.

but being a hindu i do believe that busddhism has cerainly scored over its parent religion by giving up a lot of deadwood (like the caste system) which bogged hinduism down...

  6. Dear pentium... Well if brahma narayan and shiva couldnt see Anusuya naked without turning to children... i am sure neither can u... unles u are greater than the trinity... and when u give up lust and become as inocent as a child i am sure mother anusuya will disrobe herself to bring you nourishment... remember in western myths there is a tale similar to this of lady godivia and the peeping tom...

  7. shiva linga can be installed in the north with the flow of water from the yoni going eastwards or alternatively the linga can be established eastwards with the flow of water going norht... these are the only two positions adviced...

further it isnt adviced to have a large shivalinga within the home... as the rituals required can be quite some task... that is why a proper linga sthapana is always done in a temple.

and about the initial discussion i find the topic very interesting and enlightening

  8. control comes with effort ... i think you will find some matter regarding this in mahatma gandhi's autobiography "My Experiments with truth" some rishis of old have adviced near starvation diets to control human urges... others have adviced a lot of "pathyas"/restrictions on what should be eaten and what shouldnt... and how much...
