Nothing that matters. But I would request the members to remember that Sankaracharya did not preach Saivism, nor is he accepted as one of the Acharyas of Saivism.

But how come Sankaracarya was able to compose Sivanandalahari a devotional hymn on Siva if he did not preach Sivaism? AST Sivanandalahin literally means Wave of Auspicious Bliss. It consists of 100 stanzas in various chandas(metres). He wrote it while staying in Srisailam. It begins with an ode to Mallikarjuna and Brahmarambika, the deities at Srisailam.

I wish melvin is right. But even assuming that this is merely a debate, won't you be careful with your language and usage of words?

I am sure there are far refined ways to extract answers thro' this forum, or there are many avenues available outside this forum to make use of his cheap language.

What language are you saying, Empy? The note I wrote having to Die Hard if anybody here on the forum would try me? Do you love being tested from someone here on the forum? You just don`t realize how many times it was done to me right after I signed my name on June 6, 2000. This is my prayer, Empy: Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be Your name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread as we forgive those who trespass against us but deliver us from evil. Amen.

  3. " Almost all religions pursue some sort of exchange with other religious sects. They may do it to further aim of their own sect to quell violence among fanatics, to cooperate in efforts for humane work, or for any other reasons. Perhaps the purest and most worthy purpose for persons of different religions to come together is to help one another in the individual attempt at attaining love of God." Thanks but I am not trying anything so noble as promoting Prabhupada's books. When I notice something that catches my eye from the SB I sometimes immediately try to share it. In Krishna consciousness the best way to keep this knowledge is to share it.

I am really only here for myself melvin. Selfish but true. Rather entertaining or being monotonous is quite irrelevant. But we should worry about finding these verses monotonous. That just means we have no idea what the verse is saying.

Aren`t you satisfied, Theist, with Prabhupad`s purports he wrote for each verse in Srimad Bhagavatam? It becomes monotonous if it were to me. Then I move on. Having arrived at a conclusion myself. If I say something to your thread on the forum it`s the real me reacting to a comment on Srimad Bhagavatam not from Prabhupad`s purports. To do so is parroting.

  5.

Actually I am not sure it is a quote from Jesus but no matter. I would add that we have little to no knowledge on what he told his discples. We have only what the 3rd & 4th centuary Catholic Church didn't destroy.

Thank God for those devotees and disciples of Srila Prabhupada that have preserved his original books intact otherwise we would only have Jayadvaita's version of what he wrote.

The religionists waste little time trying to prevent the truth from shinning.

Do you still have that picture with you? Prabhupad offering Srimad Bhagavatam to Pope John Paul VI in Vatican? Do you know that Prabhupad`s teachings were syncretized into the Catholic Church Doctrine on Ecumenism?

  6. Glad you came back as the real you, Ranjeetmore!:)

While it`s true Sankaracarya preached (Sivaism), I don`t think Buddha`s Buddhism is non-different from Sankaracarya`s Mayavadism. Both said the same thing( advaita), " Me and God are One." So, comparing Sankaracarya and Buddha makes no sense. Was it Krsna Himself who said, " ... I`m Lord Siva."? So, while Buddha to you is Bhagavan, I think, Sankaracarya ( Siva) is a Bhagavan, too. Sankaracarya is an incarnation of Lord Siva. Just like Buddha is an incarnation of Krsna. Both are simultaneously One and yet different( integral monism).

    Hare Krishna.

This question may be more suitable for those who were introduced to KC via ISKCON and those currently involved with ISKCON. I had approched a senior devotee with this question once but he did not get back to me.

I am in a very confused stage of my life rite now. I was fortunate enough to have the privilege to attend Vrindavan Gurukula since a very young age. Thus I am eternally indebted to Srila Prabhupada for his causeless mercy. I am now at a point in life where I feel that I should take initiation to be formally connected to the Guru Parampara.

Having been brought up in ISKCON I strongly feel that I should stay within the house of Prabhupada and be initiated under his authority. Or is this my ignorance? Am I committing an offense by having such thoughts? After all Krishna is specially dear to so many Gaudiya devotees and there are plenty of sources that are linked to the Parampara system.

My dilemma has been further troubled after I saw the RITVIK debate video.

I would really appriciate any sincere answers to help me.

There`s a program in the Catholic seminary for those who want to become a priest that prior to ordination, a candidate goes into a REGENCY. It means, the candidate is allowed to go out of the seminary and into the wilderness. He comes back and be ordained as priest if he feels it`s truly his vocation.

I think you should go out of Prabhupad`s house and go into the wilderness. Find your real self there. If you feel you are really meant to be in Prabhupad`s house then you come back. That`s what Lord Jesus did. He went into the wilderness and came back to preach Christ consciousness.

  8. The description of karma was simplified by Lord Jesus with this quote from the New Testament in the Bible, " What you sow is what you reap." Lord Jesus was more concerned with his followers present situation. He did not tell them that their present suffering was due to their past karma. In other words, if you are miserable now, it`s because of what you do in the present and is being paid back in full to an equivalent of what you did thereafter. If you go to prison it`s because you robbed a bank not because of your past karma. Therefore if you want to get rid of having to ponder and waste your time why you were this and that way then I suggest that you look forward not back. Try it. And you`ll be surprised at the result.

  9.

of yeah...all that especially the certificate "You are now free to enter Golok, where even Shankara and Uma run to from Their own Lokas."

The above quote from Ranjeetmore is a reaction from Sambya`s post no. 26. When the pair starts to appear on the forum, the entire system becomes dynamic and animated. I love this two. With Kaisersose? Well, that`s another story.:)

  10.

What for? Do you have something to sell melvin?:)

Krishna is the greatest commodity. He ever increases in value. You can give Him away to all you see and yet He always remains with you.

What worldly salesman can claim the same for his product?

Selling is not my forte, Theist. That`s your specialty. You`re trying to sell Prabhupad`s books. That`s good. So, it`s obvious the moment you open a thread from a verse in Srimad Bhagavatam that one takes notice, " Here we go again.." I`m not against it. What the consumer demands is for you to open a thread say, a verse from Caitanya Caritamrta or Narada Pancaratra. That way, it would not be a monotony. You`ll be surprise, there`ll be an increase demand in Prabhupad`s books ( Srimad Bhagavatam). If direct selling won`t work try the indirect one. God bless!

  11.

Take gold where you find it even in a pool of mud. No need to search the mud pools though when Srimad Bhagavatam is like finding gold on the surface of the ground. And beyond that it is already formed into wonderful bracelets, necklaces, rings and many other fine pieces art just waiting for our appreciation.

I have yet to buy Og Mandino`s best selling book, The Greatest Salesman.:)

Had "Charles martel" and Odo the Great, Duke of Aquitaine, thought that only love matters Christianity would not have survived in Europe and perhaps in the world.

    quote

He is perhaps best remembered for winning the Battle of Tours in 732, in which he defeated an invading Muslim army and halted northward Islamic expansion in western Europe.

    :smash:

Tell that to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Chandu_69, my friend. If that`s the case, then there`s no substance to this slogan," Love conquers All!"

  13.

who is this guy tenali ram?

Before we judge tenali ram for his non-humilty and disbelief of Swami Raghavendra, we should put our feet in his shoes. Because the issue reminds me of two debaters assigned to debate on a certain issue before an audience. It`s the Pros and Cons on the matter being debated that makes it interesting. Although the two debaters say, are Believers in God, one is made to take the position of an atheist ( in real life he`s not). While the other makes a defense against an offense why he believes in God.

Note: Please don`t misinterpret this that I`m just being soft on tenali ram. I could Die Hard on anybody on this forum if they try me.

I was indisposed when you posted that, Sant. Do keep up with the good work, my friend. The reactions you have posted on the various threads in the forum, deeply I know, come from the bottom of your heart. The honesty and humility they show speak for itself. And here I quote: One sees well only with the heart. What`s essential is invisible to the eye. ( Taken from the book The Little Prince written by Antoine de Sant Exupery )

  15.

Our outer world is a reflection of our inner world. No outer world solution is possible without an inner change of world view.

Here is the worldview that will change the world.

No one person (the Capitalist dream) or the populace as a whole (the false oneness of communism) can solve our problem.

It all belongs to the Lord.

If only His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada Maharaj lived a year more. He would have chosen a successor that would have taken the lead greening planet earth with love of God. Oh well, better move on than wallowing in the past. While it`s true that this world belongs to God but He is Spirit whereas His servants( managers) being marginal should learn to accept the responsibility of failure for the mess. We should not blame Capitalism for making a disaster of earth`s environment because ultimately the command responsibilty falls on every lap of Vaishnavas tasked to carry out what God has planned. Now, there`s no assurance anymore it will work. The blue prints are hidden in Prabhupad`s books copied and distributed like they were pirated CDs and DVDs reaching even as far as Communist China, Iran and North Korea.

    TRANSLATION SB 1.1.2

Completely rejecting all religious activities which are materially motivated, this Bhāgavata Purāṇa propounds the highest truth, which is understandable by those devotees who are fully pure in heart. The highest truth is reality distinguished from illusion for the welfare of all. Such truth uproots the threefold miseries. This beautiful Bhāgavatam, compiled by the great sage Vyāsadeva [in his maturity], is sufficient in itself for God realization. What is the need of any other scripture? As soon as one attentively and submissively hears the message of Bhāgavatam, by this culture of knowledge the Supreme Lord is established within his heart.

    Verse and purport:: http://prabhupadabooks.com/?g=6130

One of the 12 great devotees(mahajanas) of the Lord is Vysadeva. If one can`t arrived at a happy ending studying Srimad Bhagavatam, then one is advised to follow the steps taken by the 12 disciples, so to speak, of the Lord. They have understood the absolute Truth in full. Although each are independent in their ways and means to reach that Goal( love of God), a student of Srimad Bhagavatam is advised to choose which one of them he will follow. If he choses the path taken by Sankaracarya( Siva), then it`s a choice all Vaishnavas should respect. There`s no sense in attacking Sankaracarya`s teachings with verses taken say, from Narada Pancaratra. This issue has already been resolved by Lord Caitanya himself when he created the philosophy of Acintya-bheda-Abheda( Simultaneous oneness and difference.)

  17. Electricity before it was discovered by Benjamin Franklin in the form of fossil fuel ( un-utilized energy) lay dormant underneath the earth`s crust. Until man discovered locomotives and machines to ran factories that he started to siphon-off this un-utilized energy( oil) from the earth. Slowly as the years went by, the products of combustion ( carbon monoxide, toxic fumes, etc.) from utilizing this energy, accumulated from minimal concentrations to an unprecendented volumes in the earth`s atmosphere which depleted her ozone layer that protects man from being bombarded with radiation in outer space. The result is acid rain and rise in the incidence of skin cancer. Geographically, you will know which part of the world has the most number of such cases. It`s up north and down south, places where people experience winter. Simply because they need so much more of this fossil fuel to run their home`s heaters, etc. People from the trophics are luckier for they get to experience only two seasons, summer and rainy. In other words, Vaishnavas all over the world should advocate a No Fossil Fuel Utilizing Zone using instead a Nuclear Energy Zone to power electricity generating factories and plants. That automobiles, trains, ships and airplanes should run only on Solar Energy and Batteries. If the Vaishnavas all over the world can do it, then they are ahead three steps in saving earth from Doomsday scenarios painted by Nostradamus et al. It`s trivia if one says the people of the world should follow the Vaishnava way. That`s wishful thinking.

  18. The most ideal environment suitable for Krsna consciousness in Asia is the Philippine`s 7200 islands. Many of these uncharted ones have white sandy beaches, caves, hidden lagoons and a few nipa huts constructed under coconut trees. You`ll find the island`s interior are planted with fruit trees, bananas, corn, etc. Besides being surrounded with bountiful and rich marine life, there are brown colored native girls on the islands who are hardworking and very much willing to serve their Masters as wives.

. Furthermore, drowning would be a relatively painless death for a human, because in the end you will simply be forced to breath water in and out, and you will die from lack of oxygen.. :)

Other kinds of drowning besides being forced to breath water in and out is a patient dying of severe pneumonia ( the lungs are filled with phlegm) or a patient dying of severe congestive heart failure ( the luings are filled with water). The only thing that`s keeping them alive are from the tanks placed at their bedsides filled with oxygen they`re inhaling. Deaths due to breathlessness are painless.

  20.

well im not commenting on the issue of bhairavi brahmani because i have not read it anywhere else apart from wikipidea ( but im sure i have a lot more to read ) .

but there can be gaudiya vaishnavas who also follows tantra . as we know many important concepts of modern hinduism came in from tantra ....... like mudra , yantra , bija etc . tantras are also accepted by vaishnavas including gaudiya vaishnavs . there are certain tantras which are classified as vaishnava tantras like gautamiya tantra . they are considered to be sattvick in nature by vaishnavas .

after chaitanya mahaprabhu vaishnavism disintigrated into numerous sects . it was such individual families and esoteric sects through which gaudiya vaishnavism was transmitted . the GV that you see today is largely a modern reconstruction . during those times tantra and GV frequently merged simply because both were dominant in bengal . tanras have entire chapters dedicated to krishna upasana , gopal mantra sadhana and radhatatva . a person could get initiated in krishna mantra and be a practising vaishnav through a tantric sect . such tanricks primarily worshipped vasudeva or salagram . similarly G vaishnavas often adopted more tanric practises like worship of kali and organised lavish durgotsavas . the difference betwwen the two was marginal . you can still get a idea of what i am saying by visiting shantipur - the birthplace of advaita acharya and cultural town of bengal . on the festival of rasayatra the descendents of advaita acharya take oput huge processions with radha krishna deities and there are countless kali pujas all over the town even in a purnima day !!

later this gaudiya vaishnavism was restructed and resurrected by bhaktivinoda thakura and sarswati thakura which besides doing a lot of good , also destroyed the most distinguishing features of chaitanya movement .

Sri Caitanya Saraswat Math, whose Founder and President Srila Sridhar Maharaj and whose successor Sevaite President Srila Govinda Maharaj I believe has rectified this problem ( gaudiya vaishnavism) already.

  21.

Hold your breath for 2 minutes and experience the pain.If you didn't pass out increase the time ;)

If Krsna Bhaktas with finality decide to Go Home Back to Godhead all they have to do is hold their breaths for 10 minutes. This is not a joke. The first one to attempt this feat but failed ( he ended up in Sisumara instead of Goloka Vrndavan)) was Dhruva Maharaj. Drowning, however, is more effective.
