I believe Theist has been here from the very beginning, but at that time he was using a different user name.

Maybe. But you were Jndas during that time. Did you know maitreya, talasiga, gauracandra, amanpeter animesh, yashoda dd, etc? These were the guys who did the simulations on the thread I started, " Where does the day begin?" on Sept. 8, 2001.

I guess that’s how democracy is supposed to function. The crazier the people, the crazier the elected leaders..

Seriously, a leader say, in India, could solicit his people`s intelligence, cash, support, and everything they got to create this kalki avatar virus designed to disable any flying nuclear war head and re-direct itself back to where it came from. They are at this moment doing simulation tests for this kalki avatar computer virus to work perfectly. Why shouldn`t they? Pakistan is racing to make a similar one. China is also doing that right now. Iran maybe smells a rat. If you don`t believe me, then why is it North Korea is racing against time to launch a rocket equipped with a nuclear war head? Why, It`s to pre-empt the kalki avatar computer virus from being a perfect boomerang weapon. But if you hear a BOOM! Kablaam!! in India, in the USA, in U.K., before North Korea could launch hers, then the kalki avatar (911) has resurrected!

  3. If we are waiting for the Kalki-avatar to formally end the Kaliyuga(Iron) as the means to justify the end then I think you have unnoticely missed Him because you were expecting the Kalki-avatar to ride on a white stallion.( Saviors no longer ride on horses but airplanes) The date marking His appearance was on September 11, 2001, or 302 years after it was calculated by Sri Yukteswar that Dwapara( bronze) began on September 1699.

When two airplanes slammed into the Twin Towers(World Trade Center) on 911 year 2001, it herald a new beginning for all the peace loving nations of the world to bond together as one in their crusade to stop once and for all terrorism. The United Nations realized in order to prevent this menace from occuring again is to cease arguing and debating over trivial matters that is of no importance to world peace.

One of the airplanes that deliberately crashed into the World Trade Center building was piloted by the Kalki avatar.. Believe it or not is MyReply.

Gods and God is two different thing altogether. Gods means sentient beings (very much like humans) who are in higher level of existence than humans. God (and Son of God) means that they are still considered highest of all. So, in that context, they still look at Sri Rama and Sri krishna as being lower status than Jesus.

As for followers of Caitanya miscalculating Kaliyuga ... they are mistaken. We are still in Kali yuga. IF they have read the Bhavagad Gita, then they should know that, in order for Kali yuga to end, one key player MUST appear - Maha Vishnu in form of Kalki (Destroyer of Kali). As long as He doesn't come down and "play", we're still in Kali yuga.

Anyone says otherwise are merely self-delusional individual who are trapped in Maya.

In 1894, Swami Sri Yukteswar made two startling predictions in his book, The Holy Science: " matter will be found to be energy, and the sun has a twin star." Einstein proved the first prediction to be true in 1905 and over the course of the last century more and more evidence is pointing to the truth of the second prediction...

More seriously, my experience with them is they are much less book-oriented and more concerned with meditation (i.e. SRF lessons). They seem mainly to know Autobiography of a Yogi first then The Holy Science.

I don't see anything wrong with being more practice-oriented and

Yogananda and Yukteswar had a lot of great views on things up until the point of kaivalya, after that it's a great snore . I also don't understand why PY wound up obese and dead at the age of 59.

In their Gita, you will ultimately find the conclusion that Krishna accepts a body composed of material elements, though they do much better than most on all that "I am God" stuff.

Yeah. SRF devotees aspire to be one with God while ISKCON devotees desire to be servants of God.

  6. They, too, read the Puranas. They agree that Rama and Krsnah are Gods. They also have great respect for Christ Jesus as the son of God. Except they just don`t like Srila Prabhupada for indirectly belittling Sri Yukteswar and his followers. That they insist we are now in the Dwapara age not Kaliyuga. That the followers of Lord Caitanya miscalculated when Kaliyuga(Iron age) ended and when Dwapara(Bronze age) started. IT was yet Kaliyuga in Lord Caitanya`s time ( 1486-1534).

  7.

Yeah this was Sri Yukeswar's personal speculation that nobody else seems to accept.

When winter comes we don't need a calender to tell us it is here. The daylight hours are greatly reduced. The weather becomes wet and stormy, in some places very cold and snowy. We know it is winter by the symptoms.

Same idea when spring comes. We know it by the symptoms.

We see presently the symptoms of quarrel, chaos, confusion, brutality, unprecedented greed etc, throughout society. A sure sign Kali-yuga has arrived.

Yeah. Just try to explain your side/views, Theist, to this group at www.yogananda.net and www.yoganandaji.org, and see what they`ve got. Good luck, my friend!

  8. In his book, The Holy Science, Sri Yukteswar explained that the descending phase of Satya yuga lasts 4800 years, the Treta Yuga 3600 years, Dwapara Yuga 2400 years and the Kaliyuga 1200 years. The ascending phase of the Kaliyuga then begins(also lasting 1200 years). The ascending phase of the Kaliyuga began in September of 499 AD. Since September 1699, we have been in the ascending phase of the Dwapara Yuga, according to Sri Yukteswar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuga#Sri_Yukteswar.27s_teachings_on_the_yugas

Do you mean Advaita is Hinduism and Krishna consciousness is not? Or do you mean Advaita is Krishna consciousness and Hinduism is not? Or do you mean Vaishnavism, including Advaita, is Krishna consciousness, but Hinduism is not per se? What do you mean? :)

Anyway, I think Advaita is compatible with Krishna consciousness. The difference between Advaita and Dvaita or Gaudiya Vaishnavism, seems to be mainly the different readings of the fundamental relation between God (or Krishna) and individual souls (or Jivas); I.e., monism versus dualism or inconceivable oneness and difference.

After all, Adi Shankara apparently wrote: "Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda. Oh fool! Rules of grammar will not save you at the time of your death"..

in his attempt to reconcile advaita and dvaita philosophies, lord caitanya came up with this creative idea, acintya-bheda-abheda-tattva(integral monism)

  10. June 11 is my mama`s bday. my papa`s bday was on may 29. both are geminis. sadly, i wasn`t able to attend my papa`s bday party. i was out cold during that time. my failure to attend my papa`s 80th bday bash left a big dent on his psyche. my papa and mama declared right after the party that i was a persona-non grata. my mama would snubbed me whenever i`m near. now, it`s her bday. i enclosed inside 2 envelopes a meager amount of money as bday gifts, one envelope says, " belated happy birthday papa ling!" and the the other one, " happy bday mama julie!" i gave the 2 envelopes to melsa, my 17 year old daughter and told her to give this to her grand ma right after i go to work. not personally giving these presents to her with a hug.

this narrative is the very opposite of what this thread is all about. i don`t know whether if i should laugh or cry.:):crying2:

  11.

What we call happiness is simply less unhappiness. There is always underlying anxiety everywhere along that dualistic spectrum.

    Pleasure is simply less pain.

Bliss, there is no anxiety. It is absolute.

the act of falling in love is in itself a spiritual bliss. i`ve been there before several times. but after the love`s gone you will later miss that feeling again. why oh why? it never ends the falling in and out of love. in between there`s the feeling of separation. it`s like losing someone you dearly loved and missed. then it comes back again. why oh why? there can only be one explanation when you`re in love with God. when he comes you feel elated, when he goes you feel sad. that`s love. you are love personified, my lord! love is you... and no one else.

What are my standards? We had some nice discussions before, about 'conscious chaos' and other topics. And when it comes to scriptural knowledge, I’m just a beginner. So (although this is slightly off topic :)) I would be happy if you (or anyone else) could point out where in Vedic literature it is implicitly or explicitly stated that 'free will' exists or, for that matter, that it doesn’t. I can only think of statements like: "God knows (is) the past the present and the future", or "God is everything and God is unchanging", or "God is the only doer", or "the apparent passage of time is the product of maya (illusion)", which all seem to imply that everything is pre-determined and that individual free will doesn’t exist. And, of course, the concept of karma seems to indicate that free will is an illusion.

However, one can’t be sure. The simple fact that nowhere in the Vedic literature it is explicitly stated that free will doesn’t exist, might point in another direction. And although I have some personal theories about time and consciousness, supporting the idea that time (as in dynamic differential equations), causality (as in action reaction like dynamics) and, consequently, individual free will don’t exist, I wouldn’t argue that this holds true at the level of God. And if God has free will and we are part of God, the illusion of individual free will may well be God’s free will in disguise; just like our material world or our individual consciousness, may be absolute reality or God’s consciousness in disguise. It seems impossible to say whether this means we have free will or not.

So please feel free to comment if you have any ideas.. :deal:

    what freewill means to me;

when i finally decided to elope with my pregnant girlfriend(wife) instead of an abortion( i was still a 3rd year medical student).

when i decided to be krsnah conscious despite of the opposition from my mother( a devout catholic).

when i decided to continue smoking after suffering from a heart attack.

whatever the consequences that may arise from these 3 examples i have to pay. no freewill no payment or reward. this is my opinion.

  13.

Perhaps surrender and become a pure devotee first. But right now pretending to have interest only in conquering Krishna like Srimati Radharani will not help you.

    who will help me? you,theist?:)

Be honest with yourself. As materialistic devotees our real interest is in getting Krishna to make our material life better and at best to gain liberation from suffering.

    how honest are you, theist?:)

First liberation comes. Then one can engage in pure bhakti. Then one can develop or rather awaken within oneself the higher rasa's.

how did you achieve liberation, theist?:)

  14.

Not meaning to sound offensive, don't we need a teacher right from the start? even to learn how to take the first step?:)

we can`t go to school without textbooks, right?:) the official textbook for this course is srimad bhagavatam(64 volumes). canto 1 to 12. canto 1 starts with creation. this is kindergarten:) . canto 2 is grade 1. canto 3 is grade 2. so on and so forth. you will be tested by how much you are able to explain to the class ( forum threads) about creation. if you don`t have the books at your disposal now( available on line), you can surf the net.(prabhupada`s books, etc.). good luck, confused1974!

    Respected Melvin Ji,

We have the capacity to change what we are in this life. Well I agree there are many things in life are far worst than smoking. I believe changes be it, small or big, in making a healthy lifestyle, it a sign of a good progress. It is up to the person. Melvin Ji, I hope I don't sound rude, but let us end this conversation here, dots_dashes Ji started this thread to find help for her condition and seek some methods to tune in better with her inner voices, let this be her platform seeking those. Namaste.

Parting shot: That pulmonary doctor who smoked a pack of cigaretts told me if I stopped smoking now, there`ll be changes in my lung cells later, from metaplastic to anaplastic( cancerous). He advised a status quo on smoking if one is a smoker all his life. There`ll be a grave consequence if one stopped his horse riding(smoking) mid-way stream. It`s far much better than crossing the bridge when one gets there.
