The cardinal principle of Bhakti Yoga is to learn the various feelings and emotions in the human mind. Feelings & emotions have to be controlled otherwise they themselves will take control. Bhakti Yoga teaches not to hate or despise any other human being. Devotional worship and the choice to conduct one's life should be honored. Bhakti Yoga involves keeping the body scrupulously clean and eating sattvic food. Bhakti is also expressed in cheerfulness. In Yoga it is said that the cheerful mind can equip difficulties. The state of mind to aim Bhakti is of equilibrium. Worship is the only first step on path of devotion. Therefore to approach God by love is to prepare oneself for the greatest possible spiritual fulfillment. Yoga of Bhakti is a matter of the Heart and not of the Head.

So even we offer Krsna prayer with broken languages, because Krsna is Absolute, Krsna will accept it. Bhava-grahi, bhava-grahi-janardana. Janardana, Krsna, sees how much your heart is pure for serving Krsna. Krsna does not see the wording, the grammatical composition of your prayer.

It is amazing how Sri Krishna quotes that the path of Bhakti is the easiest of the 3 paths and even then we find it very difficult.But once you fix your mind upon HIM you will start talking to HIM , later you learn to live your life only by following what He says and before you know it , you would have merged in HIM. your life will seem to be a bliss when your mind is filled with HIM and only HIM.

The main Dharma of anyone is to live in HIM so that He can live in you.You can fulfill this Dharma either by work or through or surrenderring yourself to the ALMIGHTY till HE comes to you and you become a part of HIM.

we are already part of him, we have only to learn how to love him... why merge? how can we love if we merge into the loved?

want to merge, devotees want to serve krsna which is a loving exchange between the devotee and krsna. When you merege there is no service, no service means no love.
