Ayurvedic shampoo

Aritha (from India) also known as Reetha is a hard, round, brownish dry nut(herbal) which is used to wash hair. It has a mild shampoo effect and is gentle on the hair since no chemicals are involved. The reetha balls are boiled in hot water until they become soft and form a soft foam in water. This water is used to wash hair. Reetha is often used in combination with amla and shikakai to wash and condition hair.

 

I found it best to also take the boiled nut and rub it briskly between the palms of my hands - it forms a lot more suds that way and works into the hair well.

Did you ever try soapwort? That is also a good sudser.

I got it from a site called Namaste.com. Great supplier of all kinds of stuff from India.

At least it keeps waving. Mine is as straight as a stick. Maybe I should wurry more? Or hurry more? Or hari more?
