Guest guest Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Hi Jo He is nice to watch! We hadn't seen him for a few days and I was wondering where he went off to. Then on Saturday as Zak and I were leaving to go grocery shopping, George must have been on the edge of the screen door because when Zak opened it to go out the house, George landed on his arm. I never heard Zak scream that loudly before. LOL Once he realized who it was tho he calmed down quite a bit. I have to ask.... how come Zak didn't end up called George? :-) Because he had a name, Zak. It is only " things " without a name that are George. So now whenever we discover something new, Zak immediately tries to come up with a name for it quickly before I start calling it George. Then he just rolls his eyes at me. Guest guest Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Hi Anouk, It is pretty neat! I wish I had a digital camera so that I could show you a pic of George. We had a lot of little baby walking sticks this year hanging out in the Strawberry beds in spring. But I have not seen any adults at all. I almost forgot too. Jo asked how big George was. He is 6 1/2 inches long. Guest guest Report post Posted September 26, 2006 Hi Nikki I'm not surprised that Zak jumped! I think I would have screamed too :-) BB Jo - " earthstrm " <earthstorm Tuesday, September 26, 2006 11:42 AM Re: Toad > Hi Jo > > He is nice to watch! His sister's name is Ashley. That is if he were to have a sister. > > It is only " things " without a name that are George. > That's a harsh way to talk about toads ;-) Who said I was talking about toads specifically? Any " thing " (thing encompassing everything/one) without a name is George. You met George the aloe plant while here, did he look like a toad to you? > >So now whenever we discover something new, Zak immediately tries to > >come up with a name for it quickly before I start calling it George. > >Then he just rolls his eyes at me. > He has my sympathy - if I could roll my eyes that far, I'd do the same - but > they'd probably get lost at sea :-) LOL! Nope - but I'm not quite sure why you have this fixation with things looking like toads. You said that everything that didn't have a name was called George... presumably that encompasses toads since many of them don't have names (like the one in the subject header!!!), but I never said everything called George was a toad!!! I always knew from early on if I had a girl her name would be Ashley, but was never sure about a boy until that day. Zak was supposed to be Zachary Sosa, but we changed it to Zachary James after my father's first name. > > > > It is only " things " without a name that are George. > > > That's a harsh way to talk about toads ;-) > > Who said I was talking about toads specifically? > *looking around* I don't know? Who did say anything about toads > specifically? You did when you commented on it being a harsh way to talk about toads (see above). Exactly what did you mean by that seeing as you cannot remember writing it and I never said anything about toads after I said she could call the toad George? > > You met George the aloe plant while here, did he look like a toad to > > you? > Nope - but I'm not quite sure why you have this fixation with things looking > like toads. I have no fixation, you brought the toads back into this conversation and you said it was a harsh thing to say about toads. >You said that everything that didn't have a name was called > George... presumably that encompasses toads since many of them don't have > names (like the one in the subject header!!!), Ah, but if we went with everything the header said in every post on VC we would all be lost. The subjects always change here and the headers usually remain the same. Did you not see that this subject had changed? >but I never said everything > called George was a toad!!! To this we do agree BB Nikki
