we had elvis, bobby sockers, big band and harlem jazz,

billy holiday, zoot suits, charlie parker, flappers, the charleston etc,

i think that there have always been rebelious young people (if not

music, then art)

against their parents generation.

my dad was a mod, very fashion oriented,

i have some pictures of him in those fitted suits

and thin ties,

dark glasses, cigarette in hand.

around 1965 i believe.

i do like those fashions, although not very practical

nice to look at, I think its more city, vidal sasoon, twiggy

eddie seigwick and andy warhol.

in college, we used to watch andy warhol movies, and try to dress like

and duplicate the characters, and have parties in extravegant sixties

costumes we would get a vintage shops in greenwich village.

*shrug*

basic gang mentality....

each group had such a distinct set of beliefs and fashion, that it was easy for

them to oppose each other

and any little thing was blown up in the media i believe, real early on....

so, this just added to tensions and " what was expected "

fueled the fires if you will....

there is so much to rebel against it would be to long a list, but

here are some of the things I say F%%# to.

my catholic family, christians, jehovahs witness who come and harras

me at my

door.

hunters, who are full of excuses of to hide the fact that they love

to kill.

Republicans, meat eaters, people who breed incessantly,

stupid dumbpeople who won't let me breastfeed my baby in public,

because OMG, i might just for a moment, expose my BREasts

even though my baby is hungry, but they think

it is ok that hollywood stars show off their breasts on the red carpet.

my mother, people who hate GAYS, corporations, proctor and gamble,

real estate developers, politicians, fashionistas, the school

system, doctors,

legislators, Hospitals, Baby raising books, polluters, Plastic

things, Television, Monsanto, Abusers of any kind, and just

plain old mean people.

there is more but I wouldn't want to bore you.

haven't learned to turn it into a game yet huh??

have fun with em

i assume you don't wanna show up naked at the door....

but...numerous ways to have fun while gettin off their list of people to visit..

go find some really obscure bible story, and next time they show up, ask em t

oexplain it, in detail..don;t let em off with brochures...

look scared when they show up and repeatedly ask if they've seen " them " ...look

behind yourself a lot..swallowing...then ask " do you hear that? " ...

say a nonsense word, giggle, bark, or meow anytime they use an oft repeated word

" god, the, lord " ..., then look innocent when they ask about it...

confuse em " sorry, i can't be jehovahs witness, i never saw the accident he was

in, do i need to send him a get well card? "

do you have a dog? do they bark when they come over? if so, try outbarking your

furkid..right by the door...

when i lived in connecticut a billion years ago, i got em to stop coming by

askin em things.. " so, in genesis, God comes into the garden of eden, and asks

where are you adam...so, god isn't omnipotent " and go on from there...

Hi Anouk

You certainly do revolt against a lot of things :-) I don't think I

would have the energy.

I do agree with you about breastfeeding - from experience I can state

that it can be done without exposing anything, and it certainly

shouldn't worry anyone that you are feeding a baby.

Ours must be more persistent, or have a worse memory of who they have

visited before. When Peter lived with us, and luckily he was

visiting us the last time Jehovah's witnesses called, he

outknowledged them on various aspects of the Bible and old texts - it

doesn't seem to put them off though.

They tend not to pursue it with me, their false veneer of happiness and light dont wash with me. I tell them my beliefs are mine and I choose not to debate them with non likeminded indiviuals, and tell them goodbye. It usually works............ My poor mother though, she is just too nice and gets suckered in to buying their magazine...........Oh how I wish I could be there, but I`m afraid that even if I was she would probably tell me off for being rude!
