If you ever want to chat, please feel free to e-mail me privately. I've just had my first experience of having to keep quiet about being Pagan... I went to North Carolina for a friend's wedding over the weekend, and only discovered on my arrival that the family are all solid Southern Baptists. Thankfully I don't tend to wear any overt signs of Paganism, but I wasn't used to having to keep quiet about my beliefs for almost 2 whole days!!!! But I did make it out alive... and I'll probably post more on my trip tomorrow, but it's a bit late in the day now! BB Peter
Guest guest
Oh, Peter, you landed smack dab in the middle of the Bible Belt. My good friend lives there and she's had people sneak up in the dead of night and take razor blades and scrape her bumper stickers off her car! Guest guest
Hi Lynda It certainly seemed to be bible belt... although I found it vaguely amusing that the church for the weding had an Ankh cross :-) Still - I managed to survive, but kept pretty quiet about my spiritual path!!! :-) BB Peter - Lynda Tuesday, August 30, 2005 2:38 AM Re: Re: Heathens , Peter, you landed smack dab in the middle of the Bible Belt. Guest guest
Cynthia, I can completely understand your hesitation in telling anyone your beliefs. It is a shame that so many people fear that which they do not know. For the most part the biggest thing that you have to worry about on this group is walking into the room with fresh fruit. We won't judge you, but some may mug you! I was born Roman Catholic, took a walk on the Christian side and found peace in Paganism. I also follow a Wiccan path. And both tend to scare those who know nothing of either. If you ever need to talk, just holler!
