Blackstrap Molasses/Maple Syrup

Anyone know what I can use up maple syrup for before it goes off?

Maple syrup is great for baking--books like Great Good Desserts

Naturally and Sinfully Vegan use it almost exclusively.

We have it on buckwheat pancakes with Swedish Glace - and big smiles :-)))

It doesn't usually go bad, it simply crystalizes and you can break up the crystals with heat.

 

Use it instead of vanilla for flavoring. Use it to make candy. Use it to make sauces.

Maple syrup "goes off?" That might be interesting to watch. Does it just get up and walk away or are you talking about an experation date? Just courious and being funny.

We love some with steamed carrots, it's pretty good in soy milk and I had some once in walnut maple muffins. I sure wish I had a recipe for that one! You also might not know, but it's swell over pancakes. :]

I assume that it will expire at some point, I just hate having something edible in the house that I have no idea what to use it for!.........so come on impress me with ideas!

have coffee royal and add some maple for the flavor since vegans don't do whipped cream it will give it that added kick <g>

Coffee with your booze of choice in it, usually a brandy or cognac but other folks go with the run of the mill stuff such as whiskey.

 

There are lots of coffee and booze drinks and lots of them have whipped cream on top. Ameretto and coffee is usually with whipped cream.

 

Which reminds me, is there a whipped cream substitute? That is without all the hydrogenated oils and trans fatty acids.

About the maple syrup going off, I had a big bottle of it that grew a

layer of mould on the surface of the liquid. and I thought I was using

it pretty quickly. maybe it somehow got cross-contaminated with

another food but I'm suspicious...

I've heard of HipWhip, but I've never tried it and I'm not sure what's in it.

Anyone know what I can use up maple syrup for before it goes off?
