I love the lovely imitation meat! When chosen wisely, I've even gotten

carnivorous friends and boyfriend to eat it happily! I agree, to make

it heavenly delicious, you do usually need to cook it up with a LOT of

oil!

Con Agra is a huge multinational corporation ...they are a gigantic agriculture monster...

its all about living closer to home, closer to the earth..that sort of thing

who cares if they make something *vegan* if they destroy half the bloody earth to make it???

Hi Fraggle

I agree. My old boss was born vegan and just changed a year ago. I think she changed because of her boyfriend. She apparently has tried pork, beef, chicken and fish. She didn't say whether she eats it regularly. I know she hates going down the meat aisle in the supermarket, and she has all vegan toiletries and cosmetics.

OK, question, Fraggle. Why do you care what SHE eats? Or uses for skin

care, or whatever it is she's stowing in the bathroom? Really nothing

you can do about it, and doesn't see, to me worth the trouble of being

nuts about.

But that's not the same as being clear with her about what you aren't

comfortable having around. My house is a vegan house, but if I had a

roommate I wouldn't mind about what he or she was eating or using... His

or her bad health and bad karma, not mine!

Re: Imitation Meat

OK, question, Fraggle.  Why do you care what SHE eats?  Or uses for

skin

care, or whatever it is she's stowing in the bathroom?  Really nothing

you can do about it, and doesn't see, to me worth the trouble of being

nuts about.

Exactly what fraggle said.

I always think down to the lowest possible person/place or thing that my

purchase/action

has effected. Hence the reason we also don't buy Silk soya anymore..

Speaking of, can anyone recommend a brand of temphe (or hell even recipe to make

it)

besides LightLife?

I love how people say " I used to be vegan, but I gave it up " .. what the hell

does that mean?

Is it like giving up smoking?

If she was vegan for so long, maybe she *only* was vegan by the way of eating no

flesh?

Who knows..

Besides the fact that I cannot even begin to comprehend how one could

use 100 hair products... It does kinda sound suspicious about her

being vegan for so long and just suddenly having all these half-used

non-vegan products. I guess you can only hope to be a good influence,

but you sure seem to have bad luck with the roomies.

Ah yes, the habitual drink 'til they pass out types. I have lived

with one of those before. Least he was a really awesome cook (and

vegan).

Maybe you need a better screening process for picking roomies...
