Guest guest
My refrigerator I keep at 34 F and the olive oil sets up in there so never refrigerate it. However I don't think any of the other oils do, but I buy small and use quickly so no need to worry about it going rancid. Again you have to translate the F to C. linda "Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it."Mohandas Gandhi linda's Growing Stitchery Projects: womyn47 - Peter Friday, December 16, 2005 1:26 PM Re: Re: Introduction Hi Fraggle> if you kept yer oil in the fridge, wouldn't it solidify?Methinks there must be a different usage of the word "fridge" in the US tothe one in the UK... a fridge is normally around 2 to 4 degreescentigrade... it's a *freezer* that gets really cold.... and I doubt even inthat the oil would solidify... oil only freezes at a *very* cold temperature:-)BBPeter

Guest guest
I must admit that I have never kept olive oil in the fridge, but do keep it in a very cool dark cupboard. One year we had a very cold spell (we don't have central heating) and the dishcloth froze to the draining board. I had left the bottle of oil on the draining board that night, and it didn't set or get very thick or anything untoward. Guest guest
Good goddess! Probably, and I have of course thought of that aspect. However, longevity over quality of life is not my goal. I am already old and have sucked down more than my share of toxins including radiation...lived right beside a nuclear power plant that was deliberately releasing radioactive Iodine 131 while my mother was pregnant and through out my little bitty childhood. That is why I don't need lighting in my house. I love my nuts roasted and salted. But I start from raw. Expensive little boogers. linda "Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it."Mohandas Gandhi linda's Growing Stitchery Projects: womyn47 - jo Doesn't cooking them spoil the healthfullness of the oil? Guest guest
I keep nuts in the fridge too if I have room, I have read it preserves them better if they are cool. I have a central heating radiator in my kitchen and it can get quite warm in there. Brazil nuts and almond are rather nasty if they go rancid. , " jo " <jo.heartwork@g...> wrote: > > So am I and I have always kept nuts in the fridge - won't do any harm - so what have you all got against the idea? > > Jo > - > peter hurd > > Friday, December 16, 2005 8:14 PM > Re: Re: Introduction > > > The oil in nuts going rancid?................how many tonnes has he got? in the tropics maybe, but Peter is in Britiain? > > The Valley Vegan.............. > > jo <jo.heartwork@g...> wrote: > The oil in nuts can go rancid very quickly - don't you have fresh nuts in > America?? > > Jo > - > " fraggle " > To: > Thursday, December 15, 2005 7:47 PM > Re: Re: Introduction > > > > sane ones apparantly > > i rarely keep any fruits, and never nuts in the fridge > > nuts in the fridge..thats just crazy talk > > > > > > > > Peter > > Dec 15, 2005 11:20 AM > > > > Re: Re: Introduction > > > > Hi Fraggle > > > > > but you have nuts in the fridge? > > > > Yes - to keep them fresh.
