Guest guest
Hi Marcy, I wrote that I had an entire profile of myself under my e-mail address; then realized that not everyone would have access to AIM in the US. OK, here goes; I am from New Jersey, USA, all vegan now for about a year, divorced, one son, love to cook all vegan, decorate and spend 5x a week at the gym exercising. I am a twin who recently gave up poultry. My emphasis is on eating a responsible vegan diet consisting of lots of nuts, grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits and lots of water. I do not deprive myself of dairy free dark chocolate and love soy lattes. If you do have access to AIM, my entire profile, and pictures are on veganfitness. I stumbled across this site from Friends of Animals and just want to meet other vegans like myself. I also think it goes way too far to limit oneself to dating only vegans because there are so few of us out there. However, I would love to meet a cute British man that I could cook for! Thanks for writing.. gigi, at veganfitness. Marcy <imgreen03 Wed, 1 Aug 2007 12:37 pm Re: Hi everyone Hi Gigi- I'm not sure what responses you are seeking. You haven't said anything about yourself. Guest guest
Hi, Marcy, welcome. This list has been invaluable to me. I’m located near you in Maryland. Unfortunately, the only time I have been to New Jersey was when I was traveling through it on the way to somewhere else (as in the New Jersey Turnpike). I know there are a LOT of jokes about New Jersey, but the way I figure it, a state whose nickname is “The Garden State” must have a lot of good about it too. And, a state that gave birth to Frank Sinatra is definitely near the top of my list and my father’s list. He was from New Jersey, I think? Hoboken, right? Have any good recipes for soy lattes that you could share? Guest guest
Hi all, I make my soy lattes from scratch. I bought myself an espresso machine (DeLonghi) and first prepare the espresso coffee. Then I pour it into a larger cup. I take my soy milk (experiment til you find the one that froths the best; Silk works well); froth from the machine in a stainless cup; froth the milk and add it to your cup of coffee, ending with the froth. You can also add a bit of chocolate powder to your coffee for a good mocha latte. I sweeten my coffees with Agave sweeteners which can be found at most natural markets (better than Splenda). Enjoy!! ckg <cynthiaandtheothers Thu, 2 Aug 2007 8:35 am RE: Hi everyone Hi, Marcy, welcome. This list has been invaluable to me. I’m located near you in Maryland. Guest guest
Can you send in any of your tried and true canned soup recipes? I love to can things and would do soups if I had some, tried and true. I have made some in the past (with meat - sorry!) but it's been a long time. I would like to do some more to make it easier for my husband to pack my lunch (he's a great house husband isn't he!). - " cozycate " <cozycate Wednesday, July 30, 2008 1:46 PM Hi everyone >I am Katie from the other group, just come to check out the crock pot > tips. Unlike Judy seeing some events in person, in 1984 a driver for the Olympics hit our truck and did 3,000 worth of damage to it lol. They did take care of the bill immediately. Guest guest
hello and welcome eliza Eliza Jul 14, 2009 12:33 PM hi everyone Hi all, Eliza here I have been a vegetarian for 30 years and for the past 3-4 have been vegan. I feel like a fifth wheel where I live, as its PA and the people have a love affair with firearms and hunting. Guest guest
Hi Eliza, It must be a challenge to find some items out there. I'm lucky, have always lived on the west coast and it's been OK, mostly an accepted choice. But boy when I went to ND to visit my husband's family and we went out to eat, I asked for a "veggie burger" and they looked at me like I was an alien, the waitress clearly had never heard of such a thing. I've been vegetarian for over 20 years, trying to wean myself off of dairy. We have our own pet chickens so I don't feel bad to eat their eggs (those hens have a better life than most humans!), I don't use butter or "real" milk. So I'm getting there. Just need to get off the cheese habit and I'll be good! Guest guest
Hi Eliza , Im from the outher side of the world (tasmania) but sound like we come from the same sort of society, I don't even know of any other vegetairains let alone vegans. Most (all) my friends and family are the huge meat eating typs with barbeques and the likes I get looked at as if im strange especially when people find out I don't eat dairy or anything with battery hen eggs in it . The veg movement is slowly but surley growing so stick with it . I have found more people influenced by how a vegan diet can heal them from disease like cancer. I think the health and healing component of being vegan is this most powerful motivator, for those whom choose to live and have a higher quality of life. Many of the brightest and wealthist people have gone to being vegan. And as a result they are preserving thier sharp minds, and aquired wealth, they have more strenght and energy, and sense of well being to utilize it in thier life. I recommend idea of a health club. And you may enjoy opportunity to interact with fellows after reviewing one or more of the many documentaries, such as " Eating 3rd edition " (or 2nd Edition), " Life At it's Best " . You can find these on line. They are powerful. Colin Campbell's book " The China Study " is powerful info as well. These are just some of the newest media on the health aspects of a vegan diet. And if you have a Seventh Day Adventist church out your way, you may find sove fellow souls who may share your in you joy of a vegan diet. Guest guest
Hi, New to the group. Before our son was born my hubby and I were vegetarian for 3 years then went vegan when our son was 6 months old- he's 5 now! We've just moved to Worcester, Ma from Denver, Co where we used to have a pretty large vegan support group. Worcester is a city with lots of vegan restaurants (unlike Denver) but we have yet to meet other vegan/veggie parents. I'm happy to have found this group and if anyone from Central Mass is on here I would love to meet up! Kari
