Hi Sharon!

Welcome, from another type 2 diabetic Sharon. :-)

I have been eating vegan since January and my A1c has gone from 12.2 to

6.1 (that was April, I'm getting it tested again in July) and my

cholesterol has gone from 280 to 199 (also in April). All without meds.

You can do it!

Well, here I am. I have diabetes, and a life threatening pulmonary

disease. My additude is a good one. Staying upbeat is important to

me. Learning is great also. I want to learn about vegetarianism. I

have various reasons for wanting to adopt this lifestyle. Although I

turn 60 this year, it is important to keep learning about everything.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi everyone and welcome to perfection.me.

Here's an idea: I made it and it goes a lot way; you can make a lot and freeze:

Take lots of various beans (black beans, kidney beans, lentils, split peas, red beans, etc.) and put in crockpot. Add vegetable broth (or the juice if you steam veggies).

Add fresh spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, red peppers, carrots, yams or sweet potatoes, etc. I also add either fresh tomatoes, diced tomatoes, whole tomatoes, etc. (whatever you prefer); until crockpot is filled to the top and let it cook overnight. It will turn out rich and thick. Season to taste if you like. Sometimes I also had a bit of fresh garlic or you can add garlic powder if you like.

I freeze leftovers. Nice and filling and loaded with vitamins and minerals; you can enjoy it by itself, or, mix with tempeh, brown rice, shirataki noodles (made of tofu), couscous, etc. The dish itself (beans in general) are very filling.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi; I buy little morsels of dark chocolate and there is NO dairy in it; I think most dark chocolates don't have any milk products in it anyway. The bags I buy say "dairy free". I eat way too many of them, by the handfuls; lol. I am a chocolate addict!

Hi all; especially Peter and Jo; I must say that since a "certain" person has not been writing here, the site has been MUCH friendlier and peaceful lol. It is much more enjoyable without feeling defensive and w/o the argumentative nature of that person's e-mails!

I was saddened to read that a person from Wales was in New Jersey visiting with friends, a very good-looking man who was considered one of England's good looking bachelors; he was trying to break up a fight in Margate, NJ at a bar and got stabbed to death. It was very sad news to me. I really like the Brits and was horrified at the news; I do not live that far from where the incident occurred. Did anyone in England hear about this?

Hi

Unfortunately 'argumentative discussions' do break out sometimes - hopefully not too often. It disrupts everything somewhat.

I hadn't heard about the chap from Wales being stabbed.
